It is SO wonderful to have another release in one of my favorite series!
I smiled SO much when reading because just "being around" these characters makes my heart deeply happy. However, THE MIDDLE!!
Oh my goodness! I was just happily grinning and cheesing, even feeling a little teary-eyed because I was happy that everyone was happy.
THEN BAM!
They're in the heart of the forest and things are INTENSE! When Yuri told Sei to wait because it wasn't time for that moment yet, I'm pretty sure my heart jumped to my throat and I leaned in closer to my book because I was so worried.
Thankfully though, things didn't stay intense for long, but I really felt Sei's heart for the damage that had happened because of the slimes. I continue to deeply admire how she wants to help everyone around her and see them thrive as a community. She is a wonderful heroine and I feel like I'm always happy and emotional when reading because I look up to her so much!
I was very excited there was so much of Yuri in this volume! He is always so funny and always looking forward to seeing what he'll do next, how he'll react to Sei's magic, and just seeing his presence on page. The small bit of backstory that was shared was hilarious!
Of course, there were a few romantic crumbs of Albert and Sei, which resulted in me swooning a few times (LOL), but it was totally worth it! I especially loved the moment he carried her in his arms! Hehe!
Definitely another perfect and wonderful volume and already desperate for the next one!

When Sei is unexpectedly summoned to another world, it was a surprise to everyone. The saint summoning ritual was meant to summon one person, but it brought Aira and then Sei shortly after! Just to top things off, she’s quickly ignored and can’t even return home. Now she has to start over in a world where magic is real. What is Sei to do when it turns out that only one saint was summoned, and that it’s her?
I’m reviewing the first eight novels in this series, which are absolutely wonderful. We follow Sei right as she’s summoned from our world and into a place where magic and monsters are real. As far as anyone knows, Sei can’t be sent back home, so she’s stuck in this new place. However, it’s a lighthearted story and so she quickly finds a place in this world where she’s able to explore her interests as well as her newfound saintly abilities.
There’s a great cast of characters that I love seeing as Sei’s story continues throughout the series. I have a few favorites, but I really just love how lovely and supporting many of the characters are. Sei was the backup saint that was summoned, so she’s left to settle in without any pressure to be any kind of savior. She makes new friends everywhere she goes and discovers a whole new branch of work that she loves. I wish we’d learn more about the royals that we hardly see, especially since the eldest prince was in charge of the saint summoning ceremony, but I can live with what we’ve been given so far.
The only drawback is that the very cute romance is moving at a snail’s pace. There’s a date early on in the story, but we never revisit it, but it’s very clear that the Sei and Albert have feelings for each other. Meanwhile, they’ve yet to have a second date, and there hasn’t been any other progress with their romance. Basically, don’t start this series if you’re looking for a larger romance plot.
All in all, this is such a cute and light series. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute feel-good fantasy. Plus, the artwork is beautiful and there’s also an anime adaptation!

The slice of life approach to this series is part of its charm and its pitfalls. Sei is endlessly industrious and caring which attracts people to her. However, she also acts rather childish which is strange. I understand the blushing and low relationship svelte is intentional—although it seems overdone when repeated over eight volumes with zero progress. Her lack of decorum requirements can be beneficial since class systems cause separation and provides a path only open to the saint. Yet, her lack of concern for following advice from her associates is willfully reckless. She continually shows powers and abilities, wanders off by herself, and trusts everyone she meets. Given how wordy these last few volumes have been regarding history, food, and politics the intentional dumbing down is a distraction. At any rate, if you are ready for some fluff and compassion this volume will deliver fine.

It seems like Aira being along for the ride may have been luck as she just happened to be in the barracks when this whole follow up expedition took off suddenly. Sei gets a bit of a scare when the commander is injured so badly saving her from the slimes in the forest. It can't have been easy to reign her power in, but fortunately her healing was still more than up to the job. Seems she may have worked a little extra bit of magic on the forest this time around, though she may have scared some of her ardent admirers when she passed out there. If nothing else, it seems she's gained a few more friends and allies on this journey. Seems Aira coming along might cause some issues as far as the Saintess rumor mill goes, but Sei and Aira seem to be getting along very well and definitely have different interests and specializations in their power. There is still no mention of Aira being able to do any of the Saint arts either, even if her other abilities are growing and she certainly seems more comfortable with her work and life now than she was with how timid she appeared with the prince before.

such a solid series. this was the end of the slime/forest arc, and we see some minute progress in sei and albert's relationship. sei and aira continue to grow closer as well, which is so wonderful after their dramatic and rocky start - it makes a huge difference for them to be able to confide in each other and reminisce about their previous lives in japan! the grand magus is such a funny character, and it's juxtaposed nicely with his extremely powerful magic.

The bombastic conclusion of the Klausner campaign as back up arrives from the capital... in the form of a wayward Grand Magus and the poor sods he dragged along (plus some 2nd company soldiers).
There's action and slime fighting and romantic tension between Sei and Albert, but I was hoping for the Klausner characters to have more input in some drama. Like, make Leo an actual love interest even if he's the doomed third man in the love triangle.

Ce tome est très drôle, tout en faisant avancer l'histoire il permet de mettre en avant les personnages secondaires notamment le commandant et le vice-commandant qui sont un duo très attachant et que j'apprécie énormément. J'ai aussi apprécié l'avancée de la trame et j'ai trouvé qu'elle était bien ficelée, j'ai hâte de lire le tome suivant demain !

I still love this series, don't get me wrong. I just feel like it took us a really long time to get here in the manga that the emotional payoff simply didn't hit the same.

Nouveau tome pour la série EXTRAordinaire apothicaire, le dernier pour cet arc centré autour du domaine de Krausner. Le retour à la capitale s’annonce donc, mais n’arrivera qu’à la fin du tome pour se concrétiser dans le prochain. J’ai bien aimé cet arc court, Aira n’a pas été oubliée jusqu’au bout, ce qui est une bonne chose pour elle à l’avenir.
L’avancée dans la forêt est ralentie, le nombre de monstres rend impossible celle-ci sans renforts supplémentaires. Pour une fois, les slimes ne sont pas des ennemis à sous-estimer et s’avèrent même plus dangereux que d’autres monstres. Il s’agit également d’adversaire compliqués à gérer pour les chevaliers et Sei ne peut pas utiliser tous ses PM contre eux. Heureusement, la demande de renfort ira très vite, puisque les chevaliers d’un autre régiment seront déjà en route pour rejoindre Sei, accompagnés de certains magiciens qui se sont aussi faufilés. Visiblement, Sei aura du mal à voyager loin de certains personnages sans qu’ils n’essaient de la rejoindre. On pourrait croire qu’elle est appréciée uniquement parce qu’elle a le rôle de Sainte, mais à mon humble avis, il en est autrement. Son caractère est sa plus grande qualité, elle aime apprendre, n’a pas vraiment de mauvaises pensées ou ambitions. C’est tout cela qui l’a rend appréciable auprès des autres. Bien sûr, certains essaient encore de dire qu’Aira serait la vraie sainte, sans doute pour redorer leurs blasons ou par déni total. Pour ma part, je pense qu’il y a une bonne raison au fait qu’elles soient dans ce monde toute les deux. Est-ce qu’elles sont toutes les deux saintes ? Ça voudrait dire qu’un mal plus grand ronge ce monde, pour avoir besoin de deux saintes. Sinon, la seconde personne doit être là pour soutenir la première. En tout cas, je pense qu’Aira aussi est arrivée pour une raison, ça serait très étrange sinon.
La relation entre Sei et le capitaine reste encore au même point, même s’il est évident qu’ils ont des sentiments l’un pour l’autre. J’imagine qu’il ne doit pas être évident d’officialiser une relation de la sainte, mais tout de même ! Les réactions du capitaine sont assez mignonnes mais limite possessive lorsqu’il s’agit de Sei, tous les deux réagissent assez vite à l’extrême quand l’autre est en danger. D’ailleurs, je pense que le commandant des mages se doute des sentiments de ses deux comparses, j’espère qu’il donnera un coup de pouce pour faire bouger leur relation (je ne vois pas qui d’autres pourrait le faire). Avec leur retour à la capitale, j’espère que l’on reverra un peu certains personnages avant que Sei ne parte pour un autre lieu à purifier. Elle finira sans doute par aller de plus en plus loin d’ailleurs, éloignant ses mêmes personnages pour un bon moment. Ça serait même étrange qu’elle repasse par la capitale avant chaque nouvelle aventure, même si elle souhaite continuer à travailler au laboratoire également. J’aimerais bien suivre le parcours d’Aira, en tant que sainte au début, puis en tant que mage royale, son parcours doit aussi être très intéressant. En tout cas, elle semble aller bien mieux depuis que le prince a été éloigné d’elle. Elle peut faire ce qu’elle souhaite dans ce nouveau monde et c’est même fait des amies. Je me demande quand on entendra à nouveau parler des membres de la royauté, que ce soit ce prince ou les autres…

3.5 stars: I absolutely love these characters but I think I will try to read the manga before the light novels going forward so there are more visual surprises. I will be there for the next one.

I read this earlier in the year.
Honestly, it took way too long to get here to the point that by the time we got to the climax I ended p finding this a little lackluster.
While a little disappointed, I'm glad that at least the manga goes past this point. Honestly, I was afraid the manga adaptation of the lightnovel would stop here. Good news is that it looks like its still going. Yay!

Solid! This volume wraps up season 1 of the anime, finally. Can't wait for the next one! I really love this series, a true comfort read.
