Sometimes the need for blood outweighs all else.

Barbarian-Princess Ivy will do anything to save her people, even if it means forming an unlikely alliance with Lukor the goliath. Bloodlust is driving her father to provoke the other five races into war, a war the precious few barbarians will not likely survive. Unbeknownst to her, Lukor blames the barbarians for murdering his sister and plans on sabotaging her goal.

Almost despite themselves, they grow to respect each other, but nothing Ivy can do will prevent the war. Not even killing her father and becoming Barbaroness can stop the tide. And when bloodlust claims Ivy, forcing her to kill everyone in her path, she might destroy her one last chance at peace and possibly love too with one swing of her sword.

Bloodlust is an action filled plot with romance within and I had fun with every bit of it.

•The characters were wonderful; each had their own reasons for doing what they did. Like had revenge on his mind while Ivy had redemption for her people, the Barbarians, in mind. They team up and every time they fought (themselves, each other, and others), I found myself rooting for them because they made such a great team.

•The only thing I found slightly annoying were how some parts seemed rushed. For example:

Example done.

•And the world building left room for more. I am eager to see more of what was built in this novel, so awaiting more I am.

A barbarian princess and an orc prince must join forces to save their kingdoms in Nicole Zoltack's Bloodlust. Barbarians are strong, but barbarian princesses must be even stronger, and I love how Ivy uses her strength in more ways than just by the sword. Goliaths always seemed like ugly brutes, but Lukor shows they are more like us than we think. I loved how Zoltack takes an unlikely pairing and makes it work. The world-building transports the reader to a unique fantasy place with goliaths, trolls, elves, barbarians, and humans. They are different yet similar and all must find a way to survive within their realm. Fast-paced and action-packed, Bloodlust by Nicole Zoltack twists classic fantasy romance upon its head and creates a unique world and characters a reader can root for.

Nicole Zoltack builds a fantasy world like no other! She fills it with barbarians, goliaths, trolls, dwarves, elves, humans and even throws in some dragons and dreads (you'll have to read to find out what these nasty creatures are!). She then spins a story to thrill anyone who appreciates a good fantasy. Ivy, the barbarian princess, is a warrior in the true sense of the word...let me tell you she is no slouch! Lukor, the Goliath, has certainly met his match and what a pair these two make. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for action & romance in true fantasy form! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would love to read more about what might happen next in this amazing realm!

WHAT A FANTASTIC VOYAGE I JUST WENT ON IN THIS BOOK!

I have never been much of a fantasy genre fan. I’ve watched the Lord of the Rings and other movies like it, but it has never been one of my favorites. If more movies were like this book, I would be a hardcore fan! Despite my aversion to the genre, I went in with an open mind as I do all new books. I was not disappointed in the least! The book sucked me in and I could not put it down!

Ivy is a barbarian princess. Her mother was dead, but her father the barbaron (king) was still alive. Ivy is determined to stop the war her father is trying to start in order to protect her race. She embarks on a journey to find help decoding messages from the trolls. On her trek, she runs into an unlikely ally. Lukor is a goliath. He agrees to help Ivy but has other motives in mind. His sister was murdered by a barbarian and he plans to use Ivy to start a war against the barbarians to end their race once and for all.

Trust was hard earned between the two but along the way each had earned the trust and respect of the other. Something else begins to blossom between the two as well….they begin to fall in love with the each other. Will that be enough? Will love conquer all? Well that is only the tip of the iceberg with this book! Ivy’s father declares war. Trolls are attacking. Ivy becomes deathly injured and has a hard decision to make. Will their world ever know true peace between the races or will they continue to war until everyone is eradicated?

I never knew which way this book would end but I loved the way it turned out! It was truly a work of art. I was holding my breath waiting to see what would happen next. I felt like I was in the book watching each scene play out. It was well written and you easily connected with the characters. If you are a fan of fantasy, go 1-click today! Even if you aren’t, at least give it a try. I was extremely happy that I did!!

Fighting amongst the various races isn't unusual in Ivy's world, but it seems everyone wants to kill the barbarians. Her father is caught up in Bloodlust and incites it further. As the Barbarian-Princess, Ivy does not share her father's views and seeks out alliances elsewhere. She meets a goliath, Lukor and forms a shaky truce with him. Despite their conflicts, they learn to trust and respect one another, and together they uncover a much more nefarious enemy. Yet will they survive to save their peoples and fight another day?

I was drawn to this book not only by the gorgeous cover but because of Ivy. She is not a princess in need of rescue. Ivy is a powerful protagonist on all levels in a role we rarely see female characters in. She revels in being a barbarian but also has heart. She was wonderfully written. On top of it, Ivy is paired with an unlikely hero, Lukor. Both must see past the physical to what's inside. The evolution of their relationship felt natural and I cheered them on.

The world building is fantastic. It has all the elements of epic fantasy with a few twists to the races. Though sometimes the plot was slow for me, there are lots of interweaving subplots and intrigue along with great characterization.

*A Copy of this Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

I haven't read an epic fantasy story were the idea that love doesn't necessarily conquer all but changes us in ways we wouldn't imagine happens. The portrayal of love versus prejudice and racism was nicely done as well as the contempt the races felt for each other overall. I was delighted by the world building! The world created was vast and holds so much potential, that I really hope there will be more books written from this realm. As a whole and there were only a few lets downs for me, the final battle being one of them. I found it to be rather anticlimactic; with how epic the bad guy sounded you kind of expected it to last several books. I also found that when new words were being introduced they weren't explained, I have a curious mind and wanted to know what it was they were. I really enjoy Bloodlust and I recommend it if you are into epic fantasy stories!

Wow!!! Bloodlust took me completely by surprise. I fell in love with the story and the characters. This is one book that I was very sad that ended. The world-building was well crafted and well thought out. I loved that this story had so many different types of creatures in it. There were barbarians, goliaths, trolls, elves, dwarves, humans, wingless dreads, dragons and ogres. Or should I say thee ogre. It had everything. It definitely was a very interesting story that I couldn't put down once I started. Bloodlust was full of action and I mean a lot action. There was also romance, mystery and suspense. I loved how original this book was. I haven't read another book like it so it got huge bonus points from there!!!! Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this book.

I fell in love with several characters in this story. I loved Ivy. She was a caring barbarian unlike the others. Ivy actually cared for her people and would stop at nothing to protect them. I loved how stubborn she was. Boy she had a smart mouth. She was also a kick-butt fighter. But she finally met her match when she found Lukor. The banter between Ivy and Lukor was sweet and hilarious all at the same time. I must say Lukor was a hot goliath. Every time he think he had it all figured it, it all changed. He was constantly fighting against his feelings for Ivy. But he changed. The both changed for each other.

I really loved the romance between Ivy and Lukor. It didn't take over the whole story, but the story was about their love. Them coming together to possibly start something new. The beginning of their relationship was hilarious. They hated each other and bantered back and forth. The more time they spent together, the more they grew to care for each other. I loved being able to see their relationship grow.

Bloodlust was a well written story that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I am glad that Nicole had an epilogue and the end of this book. It was nice to see what happened a year later after what all went down. But now, I am hoping to get a sequel because of that epilogue. I want more!!!! I highly recommend Bloodlust to everyone!!!! This is a story that I would definitely reread.

Ivy is frustrated with her life. She may be the Barbarian Princess, but her father and his guard don’t treat her as such. With a determined and free spirit she leaves her home behind to discover what secrets are being kept and if the murmurs of war are true. She doesn’t get far before running into Lukor, a Goliath. They’re natural enemies, but quickly discover they are evenly matched, and destroying each other may be more of a challenge than anticipated.

“Nothing stirred within her. Nothing.

A lie. Her heart had burned upon contact.”

An unnatural match. Ivy and Lukor team up, each for their own personal reasons, and each with completely different goals in mind. It’s a relationship forged of hate, but little moments here and there bring hidden feelings into a new light, and a trust is born.

“Lukor would ensure the barbarians would die. Would he kill her too? She now knew she could never kill him, under any circumstances.”

Lukor wants all barbarians dead. The reason is personal, but true nonetheless. His time spent with Ivy is meant to be a means to an end, but little by little that changes. Though not enough for him to change his plans. Not until an Elf proposes a trade.

“Lukor hadn’t expected to feel such a rush from their reunion. His feelings for her wavered between hatred and something akin to lust.”

With war on the horizon unlikely alliances are formed, races are pushed to the brink of extinction, and new leaders are made. This book is filled with twists and turns that keep you on your toes. If you think you know who the true enemy is…think again. You won’t know until the truth is revealed.

My Favorite Moments: Despite the position Ivy finds herself and her people in she still will not betray or dishonor the one she loves. There are many moments she could choose otherwise, but her emotions are strong for a Barbarian.

BLOODLUST is an intriguing fantasy book where a potential romantic relationship happens to play a pivotal role.

Characters: I'll admit I love Ivy and Lukor. A barbarian and a goliath, they couldn't be more different. Yet, at the same time, they are much more alike than you might expect. Two strong characters facing incredible challenges, Nicole created them so they were still relatable.

Relationships: When Lukor and Ivy first meet, they form an uneasy alliance. As the book continues, the relationship continues to evolve as you learn more about the world where they exist. In the grand scheme of things, their relationship is both the driving force behind certain events and secondary to the big picture. The relationships of the main characters with those of their own species and members of the other species are key to the story, especially where you're never quite sure whom to trust.

Too Perfect or Perfectly Flawed: Ivy and Lukor aren't perfect. They are conflicted. As a reader, you're constantly wondering what decision they are going to make, and how it will pan out in the grand scheme of things. This is one of the elements that kept me reading.

World Building: The world of BLOODLUST is far different from ours. Though the humans play some small part in the story, Nicole built a world full of fantastical elements. There were a few times that I got a bit disoriented, but overall the world came together well, and I was always able to figure things out.

Jen’s Final Rating: 4 stars. I really enjoyed BLOODLUST, and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys fantasy.

Psychocat’s Final Rating: Psychocat was right at home with a book full of fighting and bloodlust.

"Bloodlust" A Barbarian LOVE Story" by Nicole Zoltack is a book that transports the reader into a world where cultures clash and war is around the corner. We meet Barbarian Princess Ivy and Lukor a Goliath. They are sworn enemies who end up having much more in common than they thought.

Even though Lukor wants all Barbarians to die due to a personal reason he is willing to work with Princess Ivy and secure their world. Can Princess Ivy, a free spirit, willingly open her heart to a passion with the enemy? Her character is strong, and brash. Very enjoyable.

I read this story a while ago and honestly didn't know how to phrase my review.

I loved the cover. It captured the story perfectly. The writing was great. The story - plot - was also great. The idea of unforbidden love wasn't a new concept but the way this story was set up was different, at least for me.

I love to read fantasy but mostly urban fantasy or at least stories that start in our natural world and progress to the fantasy realm. This story started in the fantasy world so I think it was a bit jarring for me, initially. But the writing and story itself did eventually pull me in. The main character, Ivy, wasn't always the most likable, at least not right away. Not wanting to give anything away - there is a good reason for this. Her father is a hateful man and was written as an excellent antagonist. Because of him, and other things (her mother is dead) she has serious trust issues. So when her potential love interest shows, she is extremely reluctant.

What was my drawback with this story: the pacing. The story was longer than I felt it needed to be. It felt drawn-out. I'm not sure if that is normal for this high fantasy genre, however. And though I enjoyed the different characters (multiple races and/or species) it felt like too much. I understood the significance of some of the characters to the overall plot but there were so many that sometimes it got confusing.

Overall, I think this was a good book. But I would only recommend to those who like high fantasy and/or barbarian stories.

This book hooked me in the first half and completely lost me is the second. The way I would have thought the book would end was in the middle, so it was nice at first to be surprised with much more story than anticipated. However, in the second half of the book there was far too much information and way too fast paced for it to be enjoyed. A simple fix to this would have been 2 books for the story to allow more room for side character growth and plot development.

I am not saying I hated the book. I appreciate a lot of the things it brought to the table. The main character ivy is a very strong female who continues to stay that way throughout the story even when love comes her way. I see a lot of romances where the main female is a total badass and then becomes a wet towel once in love.
I also enjoyed some of the fight scenes. One in particular I am thinking of was pretty graphic and bloody and it was a nice change of pace from fight scenes I have read in the past.

Overall, Bloodlust was not my favorite but I will check out the authors other books for comparison.

Ivy the Barbarian princes is fighting for her people to survive and not go to war but it seems like everyone is against her. There is six races fighting to survive. She fi nds an unlikely alliance with Lukor goliath. She doesn't know why Lukor hates barbarians so much but she does whatever it takes to save her kind. They find that even though they dislike each other they find themselves attracted to each other but don't understand it. This is a great story of strength, kindness, love, war and loyalty. I really enjoyed reading this novel and finding out how the new race would start and if the old races would join or become extinct. Wonderful development of characters and growth. I think you will enjoy this unique world and love story. I was given this novel and asked to give an honest review.

⎯» Rating: 3 Stars

⎯» Genre(s): Epic Fantasy Romance

⎯» POV: Dual—Third Person

If ever there was a book that deserves the neutrality of three stars, this would be it. I rarely spend money on kindle books, but I found the overall premise of this story to be intriguing—not to mention that I’m a sucker for warrior heroines—so I bit the bullet and bought it.
I can honestly say that Nicole Zoltack is a talented writer; her writing-style is similar to those from my favorite epic fantasies. Unfortunately, her story-telling left much to be desired. I had my notes app open while reading so I could jot down my observations/opinions, and found that they were rather redundant: storylines lacked cohesion; characters’ actions, behaviors, and thoughts were subject to change with no explanation; the conflict lacked continuity and structure; overall plot lacked stability. Spontaneity was the only guarantee as we jumped from scene to scene, and I definitely got metaphorical whiplash. I found myself disappointed because the characters and plot had so much potential—their execution didn’t do them justice.

I love a good fantasy, while Nicole did a wonderful job with building this world, the ending ruined the book for me. I enjoyed every word and every detail until then. I felt it was rushed and random villains thrown at the end that supposedly tied the whole story together just didn't fit, in my opinion. The epilogue though, I was surprised and loved it.

Half on a baby

Interesting read. All of this mystery just to get the different factions to unite. When all that was needed was a neutral spot for the leaders to meet and for the elves to tell everyone what was going on. Such manipulation. This was definitely a G rating. All of this running around to make a baby and no baby making scenes were written.

Bloodlust is an epic fantasy where the human race takes a back seat. The story is mainly about two races, the Barbarians and the Goliaths, with elves and trolls taking a secondary role. Lots of misunderstandings and fighting. Some strategy bringing some very fragile cooperation. Well worth a read.

"Bloodlust" takes us on a thrill ride to a rich fantasy world created by Nicole Zoltack, also known for her Superhero series "Heroes of Falledge" and her newest series "Magic Incarnate". Ivy is a barbarian princess trying to save her people from annihilation by the Trolls, Elves, and Goliaths. Lukor is a Goliath out to kill every Barbarian because they killed his sister Lucia, but in a twist of fate, he falls for the barbarian princess. Can their feelings for one another keep Ivy from destroying him with the Bloodlust and can Lukor move beyond his need for revenge and save his own people in the process?

Ivy is a kick ass female warrior with a strong sense of family and commitment. Lukor is a strong intelligent alpha male with pride in his people and his heritage and will do anything to ensure it survives. There is romance and adventure in this book with some graphic violence, but would be a great book for the young adult or adult without all the descriptive sex scenes. If you like historical type fantasy worlds with an alternate type world twist, then this is probably going to be a great story for you too!

Reviewing for KFA
“Bloodlust” by Nicole Zoltack is about a tough barbarian princess, Ivy, who is trying to save the people in her land from Goliaths, Elves and even Trolls. She forms an unlikely alliance with the enemy, Lukor, who is a Goliath. He has his own reasons for wanting to rid of Ivy’s people. Despite this, he has that relationship with Ivy, and I enjoyed reading about their relationship in this book.
I absolutely loved this fantasy. It took me for a ride, and had everything you could love about a book inside the pages. My favorite character was by-far Ivy because she is a strong girl and despite the events she is put through in the book, such as her father despising her, she sticks with her people and does not betray them. Reading about her character makes me wish more women were like Ivy.
Overall I give this book four out of five stars. For anyone who likes fantasy, you will love this book.

So I liked the idea of this story and honestly believe it could be wondrous…but it seemed to go on a lot, I had a hard time in some area and tended to skim over parts. The characters were developed well and seemed to interact good.

I really wanted to love this book whole heartedly but I couldn’t get into it like I had hoped.

An epic fantasy about a love between two people from different worlds with deep seated prejudices is an interesting idea but the whole thing didn't quite come together for me. I wasn't immediately drawn into this world or to the characters. I wasn't immediately loving the names Barbarian-Princess Ivy, barbaron, Forest of Gildersnatch and goliatha. Ivy is very prickly, which is apparently a normal, barbarian trait. I liked the goliath, Lukor better. 3 stars.

I got this book free to review. The idea behind this book is very interesting, an it was a great fantasy read. You can tell the author got caught up in the story further on because there were a few mistakes later in the book. Other then those tho it was a great read an I would highly recommend it to my fantasy loving friends. I will be looking at more work from this author.
