Dark Prince (Dragon Lords)
Futuristic Dragonshifting Romance
Revised Expanded Anniversary Edition

Out of the fire...

Intergalactic thief, Olena Leyton is one of the best space pirates in history. Sailing the high skies in search of adventure is in her blood. When her crew is scattered in a run from the law and her ship explodes into a ball of flames, the injured Olena is forced to find sanctuary on a bride procurement ship. Posing as a blushing ‘mail-order’ bride on the primitive planet of Qurilixen to elude the bounty hunters pursuing her is a necessity of circumstance. But, being a bride isn’t something this pirate takes seriously.

Into the flames...

Dragonshifting Prince Yusef leads a simple life away from the palace. He knows from the first moment he sees his fiery temptress that he will possess her and make her his mate for all time. However, the prince soon learns that playing with fire will always leave a man burned. However, with passions that surge as powerful as theirs, he is not willing to give up his bride without a fight.

About the Series
The dragonshifting princes have no problem with commitment. In one night, they will meet and choose their life mate in a simplistic ceremony involving the removing of masks and the crushing of crystals. With very few words spoken and the shortest, most bizarre courtship in history, they will bond to their women forever. And once bonded, these men don’t let go... Too bad nobody explained this to their brides.

What is this obsession with virgins in modern romance? I don't get it. We are talking here about a female hero who is a pirate – a pirate captain to be more precise. She inflicts great pain and injury to herself because some odd pirate code demands it, and to show us how brave she is. And then – I just don’t want to start to explain the immorality and stupidity to have sex with someone in a coma, because that is the situation for her first intercourse – she runs away (literally!!!) because loosing her virginity hurts so very much.

And why do the heroines have to be such douchebags. In an effort to arouse compassion with the female character the author created a cruel past for her. Because of that she is now presented with the loveable character of a sociopath. This Olena is not capable of the tiniest bit of compassion or empathy for anyone except for herself.

Unfortunately the heroines in the two previous books were very annoying too – the only thing that makes these books a bit enjoyable are the male heroes. They are really great guys – each one of them so far - but devastated by their poor choice for a partner. Guys – throw away your crystals an start searching for a wife – you will have much more luck and find a woman who will value what you can give them.

Two stars for the male charcters and the nice world of the draigs.

Oleyna Peyton is a pirate captain. After her ship goes down she is forced to hide on a bride ship . After arriving in Qurilixens she becomes the bride of Prince Yusef. Oleyna only planned to play along until she could safley escape. She did not plan on falling in love. Due to her horrible childhood she does not rely on anybody but herself and does not trust men. She fights her feeling for Yusef and gets into quite of bit of trouble. Another wonderful love story with alot of sexual tension.

There. I finished it. God what a long-assed book, made longer because well, you're sort of rereading a story for the third time. Gotta like it the first time to really find that appealing. :/

Much like book 1, there were character issues.

Heroine is here in hiding. She has no intention of staying, no intention of doing much beyond the ceremony as far as the marriage goes. Hard to really like her with that in mind. Yes; she's bold, brash, brazen, etc. Interesting yes. Likable? Debatable.

Hero is mostly a friendly sort but seems to have the observational skills of a gnat. I mean really, when the h seems to blow hot and cold so strongly that you pick up hints of panic every now and then, maybe coming on to her with the finesse of a stampeding herd of buffalo isn't the best method. And why was he surprised to discover she still had her v card? Did that tidbit fail to register when he was poking around with a finger?

Then there's the author's seeming issues of understanding tense. The writing is the normal third person past tense but every now and then the narrative would break form and there'd be a present tense word like "is".

And the biggest issue? The missing quotation marks. ALL the missing quotation marks. There were so many times I'd be reading a paragraph and realize halfway through it that someone was speaking. No quotation at the beginning to denote when speech began.

I am so hooked in this series!

I had the chance to listen to the audiobook and i can tell you that i absolutely loved it!!!
Mason Lloyd the narrator is awesome and no matter the book he always manages to captivate me along with the amazing story of Michelle M Pillow this book is a hit!
This is the story of Olek and Elena and these two are a hoot.
Really loved the chemistry between them and the action packed scenes.
Both author and narrator have done a great work and given us a book to enjoy!
A must read series!!!!

I read this book for the "Wrath's Challenge", for my J.R. Group and chose it randomly.
Thought about giving myself the chance to into a futuristic world where we traveled to other planets, and there would be a number of infinite places to travel through the universe.
I have to tell you that I'm not a big fan of sci-fi but if we don't give ourselfs the chance, we will never know if we like it or not.

Moving on, the title sugested to me some kind of dragon shifter, a warrior, and so again, moving on, we meet Yusef of Draig, one of the four princes of the planet Qurilixen, where they have the shortest courtship between man and woman.
On the sole night of the year, it is held the Breeding Festival, a ritual to choose a wife among the women that come through the "Galaxy Brides Corporation".
After being chased by the authorities and attacked by bounty hunters, Olena Leyton, one of the best space pirates in history, see's her chance to flea and lay low for a while, embarquing on the spaceship and becoming a bride for men in barbarian planets in need of women. What she doesn't expect is for this barbarian to a very sexy and handsome Dragon shifter, that claims her from the begining and brakes through all of her barriers.

I've read some of the reviews at Goodreads and through out the net and I agree when they say that the story is a very "thin" and simple one.
But what I really have to point out is that the author brought out the best in the main characters and allied their personal characteristics to the intense felings to one another, making the best of this rather limited story.

Olena is a bit tough and sissy one for my taste, but taking on what she went through in the past, I guess we will have to understand it.
About the infatuation and the sex scenes, I think that they were well written, with a begining, middle and end, balancing wisely with the perspective that Yusef acomplishes to bare Olena's soul and makes her accept the gift of giving for "no one had ever treated her like she was delicate, like she was a real woman".

For all that I've stated above, I was not disappointed and had a good time reading this one.
If you go for hot, sexy scenes, this one will keep you coming back for more.

Olena Leyton is a pirate captain. She is forced to hide out on a Galaxy Brides ship on its way to the planet Qurilixen with brides for their Breeding Festival. During the festival she is chosen by Yuesf of Draig to be his bride. Olena had no plans to stay with whomever chose her as a bride. She just wants to wait until it is safe and leave the planet to find her crew and get back to her pirating.

I really loved this installment to the series. The first two books had more scenes that overlapped but I really enjoyed getting a good look at Olena and Yuesf and seeing their relationship blossom. Olena is funny with her insults to the royal family, her dislike of the dresses that are normal attire for woman, and constant mishaps that require continual doctor visits. Yuesf is one of the four princes but he is afraid to tell Olena that since he knows she does not like most royalty. He is constantly unsure of her thoughts and feelings since she makes sure to keep him in the dark because she doesn’t want to end up in his power or under his control in any way.

I liked how this book followed the same general time frame as the previous books but we got to see a whole different sequence of events but ended up in the same place. I am really loving this series and I can’t wait to start the next one The Warrior Prince.

UNLIKABLE HEROINE!!

Dragon Lords series is going downhill for me. I read bks 1 & 2 gave them 3 stars. I didn't really enjoy or like the heroines of the first two books, but I really hated Olena Leyton heroin of bk3 Dark Prince. She is annoying, foolish and full of mischief making. She is a space private and her ship gets blown up and her crew is scattered running to avoid being imprisoned or worst. Olena has only one escape and that is to sign on with Galaxy Brides. Once there on Qurilixian she is presented at the Breeding Festival were the Driags pick there wives, Prince Yusef's crystal, that he has worn from birth lights up and guides him toward Olena. After the that the book is almost identical to bks 1 & 2 . The only difference is this is Prince Yusef and Olena points of view. The story is repetitive, a bit boring, except for the times you want to ring Olena's stupid neck. I Will Not Continue with this series. I don't like the way the author writes her heroines. I did like the Sci/Fi parts of the books and the Qurilixian culture and people were interesting.

Wow, this entertaining dragon shifter romance was an absolutely fascinating book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. There are some character crossovers but this book can easily stand on its own although I would suggest reading the series in sequence to fully understand the underlying storyline. The plot has good world building & there are some highly intriguing situations that are well-described. The characters are interesting, strong-willed individuals with opposing personalities but they actually complement each other perfectly although at times they are inclined to be quite confrontational towards each other.
It is about: a feisty female space pirate (Olena Leyton) on the run from the law seeks refuge on a galaxy bride ship & finds herself on a barbarian planet (Qurilixian) where she is chosen by a dragon shifter (Prince Yusef) but Olena is quite determined to resist Yuself attentions.
There is: adventure, action, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, drama, law enforcement, bounty hunters, Draigs (dragon shifters), Vars (cat shifters), fated mates, secrets, mystery, rivalry, threats, danger, attacks, conflict, violence, abduction, deceit, manipulations, attractions, irritation, distrust, challenges, anticipation, vulnerability, disagreements, defiance, devastating memories, hardheadedness, mischievousness, confusion, misunderstandings, complications, vengeful feelings, contentment, some steamy scenes & a hard-earned satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed reading this book & would recommend it.

I loved this story the first time I read it and the new expanded anniversary version just took my breath away. It was fabulous to revisit Olena and Yusef and remind myself just how loving these dragon shifters are.
Olena is a space pirate running for her life and her choice is to hide out amongst the infamous Galaxy Brides. She fully intends to get a husband but has no intention of getting a Draig Prince. So imagine the conundrum of a fierce pirate hiding out with the sexiest male she's ever met. Oh yes a fast paced reveal but more importantly secrets will be shockingly exposed as this couple learn each others secrets.
O what can I say? I so enjoyed this story previously but this expanded version just adds to the fun. Sexy, romantic and totally amazing, I love the dragon Lord's and happily devour every book
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

The 3rd prince has found his great love but she cannot take being on this planet under his authority. She is used to being care free and in charge through the galaxies as a pirate. Many hot, sexy scenes that will keep you wanting more.

If you've read the first 2 books of the series, you know you can't wait to read this one! I give my hat off to Michelle for a series of excitement.

This is the 2nd book in the series by Michelle Pillow. Brides are bought to a planet where the women only deliver male babies. Females are in demand. Our bride is a pirate who is looking to get off the planet she crashed on and reunite with her pirate team. She boards the vessel for the Brides in her escape. During the transit time, her wounds are healed and she is ready to meet her new husband.

This tale is about Olena (pirate) and Jusef (prince) and how they overcome backgrounds and learn to interact/share with someone. Olena is a child slave who was rescued and raised by a pirate. She inherits his crew and ship. She's had a hard life and taught to never trust anyone except her crew. Jusef knows what his background is, what's expected of him and he has his ideas of a "prefect" wife Unfortunately, no one explains to the incoming brides what to expect and what the "wedding" rituals are and what is expected of them. The men know the rituals and when the women don't behave in the correct way, the men are confused and upset.

I enjoyed the story line and the interaction between the couples but then I didn't. What I didn't like is how no one explains to the women what to expect so they are able to respond. Olena has her don't trust anyone; background and reacts to the wedding night in the only way she knows and Josef is upset that she isn't conforming to what he expects. He takes no time to talk with her about her background, why she responds the way she does and how life is on his planet. Sex is the answer and the pleasure they both have is good and leads to love. They really don't spend a lot of time learning about the other.

I enjoyed this 3rd book in the series more than the previous book.

Olena is a feisty pirate captain who escapes after being separated from her crew on a spaceship, unknowingly volunteering to be a Galaxy Bride to a Qurilixian male. She was raised by a pirate who took her in when she was very young and raised her under the Pirate Code, but that code didn’t include teaching her about how to love it be loved, apologizing or surrendering to her feelings.

This background doesn’t serve Olena very well when she is claimed by Yusef during the Breeding Festival. He is a Royal Prince who is shielding his full identity from his bride until she gets to know the real him.

These two have an intense attraction to each other, but lack in communication skills which when combined with her stubbornness and feistiness, and his arrogance and self-centeredness creates all kinds of upheaval and misunderstandings in their pairing.

The couple featured in this 3rd book were far less argumentative and mean to each other. Their dynamic was more feisty and fierce. The author’s use of several interruptions or obstacles to the couple consummating their marriage was experienced in this book, and the first time or two it adds a little extra spice. My opinion is if they would have consummated the marriage sooner, just as much drama could still have been included fueled by Olena’s determination to overcome or fight her physical reaction to her husband.

Michelle M. Pillow has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Olena and Yusef. Olena is a pirate and has crashed on a different planet and she is being hunted. She has been hurt and is looking for a first aid kit. She sees one in a ship and breaks the window to fix up her arm. She needs to find a way off the planet and she sees a woman going towards another spaceship. She sees some bags in the ship she broke into and she grabs them. She follows the woman to the ship and hears some of what she said to the guard. The ship is for the Galaxy Brides. When she gets to the guard, she hands him her real ID and he said that they were low on brides this trip so her last-minute placement wouldn't be a problem, or keeping quiet of her being there. It takes the ship a month to get to the planet of her new home. The marriage is to take place the night they arrive. Olena doesn't know who she will be matched with. Yusef sees Olena and he knows she is the one for him since his crystal is glowing. At first, things do not go well for them. Olena thinks she is only going to stay until she can find a way off the planet. The more time she spends with Yusef, the more she falls for him but she will not give in to her feelings.
Can Olena and Yusef find a way to make a go of their marriage?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

DARK PRINCE is Prince Yusef story and the third installment in the Dragon Lord series in the on-going Qurilixen World Novels by Michelle Pillow. This story can be read as a standalone full-length, shifter romance with a sexy alpha male and defiant female. There's not much "action" but plenty of steamy scenarios. The Qurilixen Lords installments take place simultaneously, starting with the Breeding Festival as each prince finds and wins their destined mate.

Pirate Captain Olena was forced to crash land after her ship was shot up and her crew scatteredamong the stars. Stranded without her crew or ship, she manages to board a ship preparing to depart. Unknown to her this is the Galaxy Bride ship delivering brides to Qurilixen.

As soon as Prince Yusef sees her, he knows she is his bride. The problem-Yusef wants a loving, forever wife; Olena wants to escape back to her pirate life and family. So begins the tumultuous romantic dance between these two. Olena's mischievous personality personality will keep Yusef on his toes

I am familiar with this series and each installment can be read as a stand alone story, but so much better read in their order.

I look forward to the rest of the Royal princes' love stories and recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy romance on an intergalactic planet and some steamy and fun reading.a.

OMG! A Space Pirate to a Princess???

Book three in the Dragon Lords series. Olena is a space pirate on the run from bounty hunters. She is looking for a place to hide until she can be reunited with her crew, and she needs money to buy a new ship, since hers got blown up! She sees the Galaxy Brides Shuttle almost ready to leave and manages to get added as a last minute bride. She doesn’t know where they are going, but anywhere off planet is okay with her. When she finds out she is supposed to be a bride on a very remote planet, she figures that is perfect! She will grab a husband and steal as much as she can from him once things die down and she figures a way off the planet. When she is matched to Prince Yusef by his crystal, she figures no big deal. Yusef is thrilled with his feisty red headed beauty. He figures it won’t take her long to accept him and their ways. As usual things go haywire. Olena hates royalty so he doesn’t tell her he is a prince. Yusef is stabbed by the rival Var clan and left to die and Olena is kidnapped twice! Never having anyone to love her, she doesn’t ever let herself get close to anyone. Can she swallow her pride and admit she is becoming quite fond of her husband or will she let her past ruin her future?

Olena is an intriguing, adventurous heroine. I really liked her, though it didn’t quite seem like Qurilixen agreed with her at times! I wasn’t as enthralled with his story as the first two in the series, though I did enjoy it quite a bit. Because of various reasons, Olena and Yusef didn’t have as much interaction as I might have liked, but it’s very clear that they share a strong attraction for each other. Olena really steals the show in this particular volume, and she’s a great heroine. Readers of previous books in the series will of course recognize some scenes in the book, revealed in Dark Prince from a new point of view of course. Those scenes doesn’t seem too terribly repetitive, but if you’re reading the books one after the next I can see where that might get tiresome. I like the different points of view on those particular scenes, but at the same time I do find myself scanning through them to get to more fresh story at points. Despite those elements, Pillow has put together another very intriguing Qurilixen romance full of heart-warming, very human characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Readers who have enjoyed previous Dragon Lords novels are sure to enjoy this entry in the series as well, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next in the series.

Olena was a space pirate that crashed. To escape being caught she joined the Galaxy Bride ship. She had stole luggage and boarded as a potential bride. She plans on escaping even if she is chosen a a bride. Her crew is out there and she needs to find them.
Prince Yusef sees a beautiful human at the bridal procession. When she walks by him, he knows she is the one. In addition, his crystal lights up. He chooses her. She takes off his mask and chooses him. Olena knows he is a shifter and is not afraid of his dragon. But she has so many secrets herself. Yusef also has secrets too.
Great story about fated mates. Yet they each have secrets and trust issues. Olena has had to learn to take care of herself to survive. She doesn’t trust anyone. She doesn’t want to stay. She is afraid of love. Yet she is not afraid to fight. She is not afraid to be strong. The constant battle of wills is humorous yet understandable. She is a firebird. She ready to outwit and out last Yusef. Yet if she admits it he is appealing. They have so much drama to go through together and apart. Includes the brothers and their brides.
Has a HEA.

Olena, space pirate, is runnign for her life. She and her crew have spread to the winds and she has crashed and needs to get away from bounty hunters following her. The Galaxy Brides ship is the closest to hand to use for her getaway. She decides marrying someone for a few months whilst she lies low and searches for her crew is the best plam she can come up with.

Yusef is one of the princes taking part in the bride selection process. He knows as soon as he sees Olena that she is his, and that with that fiery red hair she is going to be a handful.

I love this series. Although all are seperate stories, the action overlaps at different points in each book, so you can read them out of order. I also loved Olena and Yusef together. They are quite playful, funny characters and the banter was easy between them. There is plenty of passion and Olena is not shy on acting on it.

Olena was quicker to catch on that the princes are shifters, maybe because she was used to dealing with shifters on her crew. The book answered what the chastisement was from earlier books, which had been driving me mad!!! Olena never worked the ‘oh poor me’ routine, even when she could have done.

Love changes things

I enjoyed this arranged marriage, alien-human, fated mates romance. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the story premise and the world building and I really liked Yusef, I had trouble with Olena’s character. Her stubbornness and repeated attempts to cut off her nose to spite her face dragged on way too long in the story - until 90% into it. Olena is a space pirate captain who escapes authorities, her scattered crew and her destroyed ship by being a last minute passenger on the alien brides ship to Qurilixian. She does not intend to stay with her husband. Yusef is a Qurilixian dragon shifter and a prince. He has followed all the customs of his planet and felt like when his pendant glowed the Gods had chosen the perfect wife for him in Olena. Unfortunately, Olena has other ideas and fights Yusef and denies her feelings at every turn. To get to their HEA, Olena and Yusef will have to deal with the cultural differences, misunderstandings, and secrets along with Olena’s baggage unpacking and life course correction, all the while dealing with danger. 3.75 stars.

This is the 3rd book of the series, but the 2nd book that I've read. I thought the first bride that I read about, Nadja, was unpleasant toward Prince Olek, but Olena puts her to shame. Olena was a pirate who slipped on the Bride ship to hide when her ship was destroyed. She figured she'd escape when the time was right and find her crew. I don't understand why the heroines act horribly toward the men, despite their reservations and pasts. I felt so bad for Yusef in all of this. Each prince has their share of grief when dealing with the bride the crystal chose. Olena did some things that were questionable (I don't want to spoil any part of the book though). I rolled my eyes a few times from things she did. I thought the book was written well enough that despite the coinciding storylines, you are getting a clearer picture each time you read one of these books. They do get their HEA, but it's not without unnecessary and unwarranted shenanigans.

"...the locals only let the men get married in the dark."

Olena is in a bind and is looking for a ride out of danger... when she sees a ship taking women onboard the opportunity is too good to pass up.

Yusef can be patient and understanding, but there comes a point when he isn't going to let this woman who has stolen his heart get away without "chastisement" if not punishment. She may not want to be a Princess, or role more, but he's a law biding Prince, especially when those laws may help him keep his wife, and secure his troubled marriage.

This done in one book is a great deal of fun, bringing Olena center stage after two books that held just enough mentions to have me curious what mischief she had gotten up to.

The books in this series interweave in fascinating ways, in the previous book we got Nadja's perspective on a pivotal/critical scene, here we experience things from Olena's perspective, filling out the picture, and enriching the entire experience, making the same scene both more interesting and more complex.

Can't wait to read more in this series.

This story, the third in the Qurilixen Dragon Lords series, centers around Olena and Yusef. Olena is a space pirate on the run. She's lost her ship and crew and takes the first opportunity she can to escape vengeful followers. The opportunity that presents itself is to take a place on a Galaxy Brides space ship headed for a barbarian planet where Olena can lie low for a while. Her plan, if she's chosen, is to put up with a husband for a bit, hopefully convince him to leave her alone, then find a way off the planet to search for her crew. She doesn't account for the effect that Yusef will have on her senses and her heart. Can Olena escape her handsome husband and get back to the life she loves? Or will her attraction to Yusef overcome her wanderlust and convince her to stay? If you like fast paced, steamy fantasy, with favorite characters who's stories unfold more in each installment of this series, you'll enjoy this book!

Loved this story about Prince Yusef of Draig and Olena Leyton, captain of a pirate ship that's crashed while on the run. Olena disguises herself as a Galaxy Bride on the Bride ship to Qurilixen to escape the bounty hunters and the law enforcers that are after her. Olena is waiting in the luxury of the Bride ship until her crew comes to pick her up. Olena doesn't count on Prince Yusef to ruin her plans. Prince Yusef at the Breeding ceremony on Qurilixen spies Olena and knows, she's his mate and will do everything to claim her. This enjoyable story with sizzling chemistry between our couple and the engaging twist and turns storyline is another great addition to this continuing series. I look forward to the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Book three in the Dragon Lord series. If you like pirates even lady pirates you will enjoy this story. Pirate Captain Olena crashes and ends up as a Galaxy Bride. Her personality alone amuses me and even though we know her mindset and her constant ability to get into trouble, I love how the story unfolds. Just when you think the character is going one direction we are surprised. She and three of the other brides are chosen by the Draig as wives. Action and comedy with some drama tossed in. I have read another from this series and so I am familiar with this series but it is great to read as a stand alone. Highly recommended for some fun reading.

I loved this installment! Space Pirate Olena is on the run, her ship has crashed and she needs to lay low until she can meet up with her crew. What’s a girl to do? Hitch a ride on a ship taking brides to Quirilixen! She’ll take advantage of some pampering, then wait for rescue, since she’s not looking for love. But then there was Yusef! Oh my heart! Yusef is smitten. He loves Olena’s strong, brash personality, but he is for sure an alpha male who wants to protect her too! Olena feels the attraction, but she is also focused on returning to her crew. These two get into a lot of adventures and some sexy hot bedroom antics! Loved, loved!

I enjoy Miss Pillows stories. She delivers on this front so eloquently that you are knee deep within the story and you feel as if you have floated to her and her characters. She offers that exceptional escape that you know you want but are just so afraid to step off the edge. Well have no fear this author takes you to places you did not think to explore, she inspires you to take a chance and get to know her characters. She is a wonderful author and delivers the heat just when you think you cannot continue she shows you that there is more to this world than you can ever imagine! What a wonderful escape!
