Sophie James was a junior in college. She was extremely beautiful even though she didn't feel that way. Even with her beauty she had never had a boyfriend. She was far too shy to approach a guy on her own. Then the unthinkable happened, two of the hottest guys in school showed interest. Landon and Liam were two of the star baseball players and to Sophie that only added to their sexiness. They were complete opposites however both pined for Sophie in their own way. She found herself having to choose between the two and leaving one of them heart broken. She had thought her decision was the right one until everything went haywire.
I graduated from High school in 2002. I am a wife and a mother to 2 wonderful children. I love a good romance story and thought why not write my own and i did.
Haywire is a gripping novel of romance, drama, and edge of your seat action. It's a complicated, sophisticated, realistic love story, and I loved every second of it.
The plot of this novel was so much more than I expected. What I expected was yet another romance story featuring an average pathetic girl torn between 2 perfect guys. The last thing I wanted was another sappy love triangle. I am so happy that is not what I got! Instead, I was happy to find that Haywire was an exciting and original story of a girl torn between 2 seemingly perfect guys; the ultimate sexy bad boy and the equally sexy romantic guy. They both can give her what she wants, but she'll have to choose between them first. What she doesn't know is that one of them harnesses a secret that will ultimately turn her world upside down. There is so much drama and sexy romance packed into this novel it is amazing. I couldn't stop reading! Every time I had to bookmark it, I was already excited for the next time I got to pick up the novel again. It was ultimately very addicting.
The characters in this novel are also very attention-grabbing. Sophie, our main character, is a feisty young woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to get it. The two men vying for her, Landon and Liam, are so similar, yet so different from each other. Both are baseball all stars and both are undeniably sexy. However, Landon is a total bad boy with a bad reputation and Liam is the good guy, focused on schoolwork and sports. Neither have shown any attention to Sophie before, but suddenly, they both want her. Badly. And she must come to a decision. But is it the right one?
The writing of this novel is spectacular. It's descriptive and dramatic, paced perfectly, and full of twists and turns you absolutely never see coming. For this being Biera's debut novel, it is awesome to see her start a career with such a hit! It can only tell of what she has to come. I cannot wait for the sequel! It leaves off with such a breathtaking cliff hanger... I'm going to have a hard time waiting.
Overall, this novel is a spectacular debut hit from an author we all definitely need to keep an eye on! If you are looking for a dramatic, romantic, rollercoaster-ride story that will take you in, this is the novel for you.
I really enjoyed this storyline, the characters, the plot twists and turn and all the drama. It was an easy read. I really was glued to each page wondering what would happen next.
What bothered me a little were the many grammatical and editing errors throughout the book. If it was better proofed, I would have given it 5 stars. I tried to look over the first couple but they were constant and it just made my reading experience not quite as WOW.
Sophie James, is a beautiful soul, inside and out. She is coming into her own, and experiencing new things. I loved Sophie, the shy but in your face honest type.
Landon and Liam are two of the hottest guys in College. Landon is a bad boy, a manwhore as such, he has a reputation and has his eyes set on Sophie.
Liam is your all American boy next door. Caring, loving and understanding. Also holding a place in his heart for Sophie.
What will Sophie do? Who does she choose? What will she struggle with?
All the characters within this book play major parts in each other’s lives. I loved how they were all so close, yet one of them had a secret that the others didn’t know about.
Chloe, Madison and Sophie (BFF’s) were beautiful in how each of them supported the other, and their dialogue made me laugh, so fresh and easy with each other.
I liked that this story kept me guessing at every turn. It was fun and passionate at times and scary and intense at others. There were so many plot twists and turns and drama – filled with desire, lust, friendship, lies and deception – only you don’t know what’s truth and what is not.
I must say, the cliffhanger at the end was not something I was expecting. OMG, Angela Biera really left me hanging…. Like jaw dropping OMG… I really need the next book like yesterday to see what happens. If you don’t like cliffhangers, then don’t read this book until the next one comes out. If you don’t mind them, then I would recommend reading it.
Congratulations Angela Biera on a great storyline and taking me on the type of reading rollercoaster ride that I love.
3 1/2 - 4 Stars MY OH WOW!!!! Where do I start!!! I NEED more of this story, like NOW! I'm not a person who waits well.... This books has it all. Hot guys, girls, little steamy scenes.
Sophie is a dance with a huge love of baseball, with a BFF with is dating a baseball player from their college team Sophie knows most the players and has huge out with some often. But when Landon shows interest in Sophie, Sophie is hesitant, then gives in. Landon is HOT and so so sweet you can't help but fall in love quickly with him. Then Liam shares his feelings for shophie.
Back to what this book has..... HOT baseball players check!! Now to falling in love, Landon is so so sweet but Liam is sweeter.
But when the past comes back Sophie is feeling unsure..... I better stop I hate giving spoilers.
Haywire has a huge cliffy so to all you cliffy haters please just add to your list and wait for Sophie's story to be finish.
I love Sophie, she is stright up no bull sh*t, and she only ask the same from everyone around her. She is strong, very honest, and a fighter BOY this girl does not give up. When Haywire gets to its dark side that's when you see Sophie at her strongest then maybe at her weakest afterwards (who can blame her) And just when you think Sophie is in the clear.....
I think almost anyone could enjoy this book, I really thought it was good and enjoyed it. I look Forward to the rest of Sophie's story.
I've read a lot of books. I've read a lot of books with graphic violence and adult content. I'm not sure there was much preparing me for the emotional gutting I took in this book. I knew it was coming, I saw the patterns. It just hit hard when it did. It's definitely an appropriate name for this story.
This is the story of Sophie James, and her group of friends, Chloe, Madison, Cole, Landon and Liam. A relationship blossoms between Sophie and Landon. It moves fast, due to Landon's wicked good looks, and smooth talking charm. Faster than Sophie can really get a handle on. Chloe, Madison and Cole are none-the-wiser of Landon's smooth talking ways, figuring Landon just has one smart mouth. Liam though, he knows something isn't right. He tries to talk to Sophie and she shuts him out. Until the night when everything goes HAYWIRE. Sophie feels like she has nowhere to turn, except to turn to Liam for help.
This book leaves us on one serious cliffhanger. The second installment is due out January 16th. It was a fantastic read, the story line was well written, and plays well into the life of a bunch of college students. I am in desperate need of reading the second part. If you can handle this delicate topic in your reads, then I definitely recommend you pick this one up!
I found the storyline of Haywire quite interesting, but I believe the book was very poorly written. Maybe in need of an editor? I started reading it because I thought it was a standalone novel and I needed a break from the tedious old Dickens English . Oh surprise. IT IS NOT. Though, a good thing about that awful cliff hanger is that it will actually make your heart rate spike. I think I felt myself drifting to a coma for a moment.
I struggled with the beginning. The dialogue was rough and I actually thought "do college kids really think and act like this"? As I got deeper into the story though, it really picked up the pace! I even teared up at one point! It turned out to be a great story. Very emotional and you start to root for Sophia and Liam. It ended in a cliffy and -facepalm- I dive right back in with High Wire! Be ready for this though. I was all choked up the first few chapters!
