Life after divorce was lonely at first for Landon Jeffries when Derailed came to end. As her luck would have it, she finds herself in a romantic encounter with a man she had only met twice, but left a lasting impression on her. Her heart still has traces of her ex-husband Todd in the midst, but in The Crossing her body completely belongs to Detective Reed. Unable to explain the burst of emotion she feels for this man, Landon's decision making doesn't sit well with Todd who regrets letting her slip through his fingers. He watches on in agony as the love of his life falls for another man, and experiences a series of disappointments. Jules and Jen embark on a changing scenario of living arrangements to satisfy Jen's desire to be closer to her son. Jen contemplates making her move for her inheritance against the advice of Jay who now finds himself at the forefront of his son's mother's protection. He and Millicent continue to prove everyone wrong about their love as Launa, Landon's sister emerges from the background as the lover of Jules' brother, Juan, whom she met at the wedding. Tammy's interference as well as Landon's sudden love interest force Millicent and Landon to meet and discuss their friendship, while Love, Sex, and Suspense continue to unfold in The Crossing.
Whew this was a journey and so much mess. It wouldn’t be a TK book, if she didn’t throw plot twists and curve balls in a story. I liked it. This group of friends definitely keep me on my toes.
I only gave this book 4 out 5 because there has to be a part four. It’s very entertaining as it crosses the line between being urban and just being every day life. I can visualize the characters and think the dialogue is spot on.
Liked the writing. Didn’t like Landon ending up with Todd or Walt’s removal from the storyline. Happy that Landon and Launa seem to have found their happy. Glad Jen is free and curious to see if Mills gets hers in the end.
