Animals, a husband who understands her, a new encounter… Olivia has just taken her first step out of her small world into one that steadily expands.
Olivia is a woman who embraced loneliness because of her ability to hear the inner voices of humans and animals, and Arthur is a former mercenary who’s spent his life staring death in the eye. These two wounded newlyweds join each other at the dinner table, drawing close as the seasons pass. Olivia, having just begun to open her heart to humans, finds the medicinal skills she learned from her grandmother blossoming, allowing her to help all sorts, from parrots to hares, foxes to cats, and many, many people. With the addition of a bubbly new companion, Soup Forest is filled with warmth even during the winter, while the scars from Olivia’s past also become fuel for her growth as she continues to lend an ear to those voices asking for help.
This is a very relaxing and heartwarming story. With a set-up like this, you are going to have moments build around humans and other moments built around animals. Arthur and Olivia continue their day to day lives as their “family” begins to grow around them — but maybe not in the way you think. It is definitely a feel-good read.
Another sweet cozy story in this series. Olivia and Arthur continue their relationship while running the Soup Forest restaurant. I enjoy the author’s prose style and her gentle characters. Hope the author will write more Soup Forest stories.
