Don’t miss the first two books in the Black Gyffon series, Darkest Fire and Darkest Desire.Praise for the writing of Tawny Taylor “Scorching hot . . . A heady mix of BDSM and thrill.” —Romantic Times “Delicious taboo sex and intrigue . . . Irresistible!” —Eden Bradley, The New York Times–bestselling author “Absolutely delicious!” —Kate Douglas, author of the Spirit Wild series
Nothing exciting happens in Tawny Taylor's life, unless you count giving the cat a flea dip--a cat can make some fascinating sounds when immersed chin-deep in insecticide--or chasing after a houseful of upchucking kids during flu season. She doesn't travel the world or employ a staff of personal servants. She's not even built like a runway model. She's just your run-of-the-mill, pleasantly plump Detroit suburban mom and wife.
*ARC provided free via netgalley and the publisher for an honest review * I have to admit I did not check goodreads prior to selecting this book via netgalley… Or I would of discovered everyones equally frustrated with this book as I am… and this is number 3 in the series. This is a standalone..yet not really… The blurb is hot as sin “He wants her. He wants to possess her. Now. And her body says yes. Forever. “ Oh god yes this statement sold!! Free thank you! (its 9 bucks on amazon) ARC yayyy Reality… ughhh Talen (a dominant with a non dominating personality) is part of the Black Gyffons who defend against the Chimera. Talen must marry a woman ANY WOMAN to keep his status. He picks one who doesn’t want to marry for sake but for love so then he finds Michelle whos also surprisingly pregnant they had serious trust issues (you cant be in a BDSM (any form) without trust) then bam insta love… ughhhh The story is just all over the place for me the writing style keeps you going so its not a slow burn of a book. But some of the plots just confused me and left me wanting more. BDSM world yes teach her… oh youre not going to and the book just ends without an epilogue… WHAT! I just couldn’t get on board with these characters and I cant seem to figure out the words to describe it. This series is not for me at all.
So disappointing. I thought the plot sounded very interesting and decided to read this book, although it is the third in a series. especially after reading, that it could be read as a stand-alone:
Dear authors, if you want to do a series - no problem, I love to read books in order. but if you decide a series of books can be also read as stand-alones, than please give your readers the information they need in the story!
in this book Talen the youngest brother of the Black Gryffons knows that they are the last line of defense against the Chimera. to fullfill his fate, he has to marry
he decides that any woman will do, as he does not think, he will find a woman who could willingly serve his desires. until he meets Michelle.
as I said, the story could have been interesting - if we ever got to know what the Chimera is, who the Black Gryffons are, what the Secret is ... and this only concerns the facts
in regards to the relationship, this book was even more frustrating: it was always one step forward, two steps back. I didn't see any development in the relationship - they never really trusted each other but than *bang* and both were deeply in love ... WTH
regarding the villians and the second characters there was not much of information on them either ...
so all in all, I read it, skipped parts of it and was frustrated after I finished it I am not sure if I want to read a Tawyn Tayler book again ...

The writing is good. The characters are great. Talen and Michelle are one hawt pair. I get the whole family responsibility bit but from marrying option 2, to love seems a bit abrupt. Especially when he still hit the side piece after meeting his love. I struggled between liking him cause he's one sexy dude and hating him cause he's a bit of a d. Lol but hey if you can evoke emotion, you've done your job. Looking forward to reading more : )

I have high expectations with this book. The first parts were interesting but what happened halfway totally became a mess. What went wrong??
The book is no doubt, well-written. The writing style of the author is superb, but I wish she chose a different plot. Everything between Talen and Michelle is one big mess!
First, I'm annoyed with both characters. Talen, although sexy as hell, seems more of an immature guy. He can't seem to make up his mind for simple decisions. Seriously, how can a normal guy experience difficulty in choosing between two women for a place as his wife? I mean, both Michelle and Angela are strangers to him. They only dated, like, twice? Thrice? But honestly, I think he messes things up here. Not to mention that he's a complete jerk. He always hurts Michelle in a seriously f*cked up way. I don't know, but his character doesn't sit well on me.
Michelle, on the other hand, is one stupid girl. She got herself pregnant and yet she's too dumb to reject the FATHER of her child, and even believe Angela's lies. Angela, whom she called 'bitch' during the start. Seriously though, how can she trust the 'bitch' and believe her when she's obviously a green-eyed monster who's not trust-worthy?!
Also, dear Michelle, can't you just make up your mind? You're too confused all the time. One day, she says she loves Talen and couldn't resist him especially when he's about to make love with her. And then the next day, she's going to reject him like she doesn't really like him at all. WTH??
The book is not at all a great book for me. I felt deliberately annoyed with the characters and the plot as well.
Tawny Taylor is a good writer and she knows exactly the right words to describe everything, but the plot is a total disaster. I hope she writes a better story next time, and with not-so-annoying characters, too.

Duty and honor...The Gryffons has been guardians of the Secret since any of the brothers can remember. Whether for love or for duty Talen has to marry and produce sons. This is the third book in the series, I didn’t get a chance to read the 2 before, it could be a stand alone...but I'm wishing Id have read the other ones. That being said I actually liked the book, a decent length and not too bogged down with random details. Talen will make you want to beat him, he really does some shady stuff.. will he get the chance to redeem himself... Michelle has her life all mapped out and she doesn’t plan on deviating from that. Upon meeting Talen sparks flight from the start. Michelle is stubborn, sassy and independent. Talen is a Dom that is used to getting his way. With danger ever lurking the need to marry and have children is pressing. When Talen fumbles his few attempts and being with Michelle, he may not get a chance to make things right. As I said I like this book though at first I didn’t think so..Ms Taylor wrote some hot hot scenes, not really much BDSM in it though other than being tied up. But yeah.. the scenes were worth it. Smiles. With time a luxury, danger breathing down their necks, a pushy female and family being helpful. Talen and Michelle may end before they actually get started. I do recommend this, but I would say get the others first. Enjoy
This was a wonderfully written love story with a little mystery,d/s and paranormal twist she had me so drawn in I was getting tired and just had to read one more chapter just one more and on and on next thing I know it morning so make sure you have time as it will get away from you the book is just to darn good so now a little about the story
Talen knows the Black Gryffons are the last line of defense against the Chimera. He must marry in order to carry on the family legacy. He needs a woman who will submit to him completely, he thinks he knows what he wants she has to submit to him let him take her body in any way he wants, in ways she never imagined. He thinks he found what he wants then he meets Michelle and sshe turns his world upside down when his sister in law is hospitalized forces his hand so he purposes to he only one problem she won't marry him she will only marry for love desperate he asks another woman to marry only to find out latter Michelle is pregnant now all he has to do is convince her to marry him and protect her from chimera I only had one problem with this book it needed a epilogue to wrap up the happy ending I'm hoping that there will be a book four to find out what the all do now and if everyone survived the attack if you have not read the first two books get them thy are really helpful to this story
Talen and his brothers must protect the Black Gryffon's object that could destroy the world. The Chimera want that object so they can rule the world. In order to continue what was started centuries ago every child must produce a male son to take his place. Talen is the only one who has not married and must do so soon in order to fulfill is obligation. Can he find a woman who can share in his BDSM needs and be able to constantly be on the move?
I really liked this story. The ending was a bit disappointing though. It happened so fast that I could not take time to enjoy it. The plot was good but the execution was a bit too back and forth for me. There was no real ebb and flow.
The characters were a bit smudged with no real fine lines to distinguish them from other novels. I know that this book was about a certain brother and his conquest but it would have been nice to have a better visual of the other two brothers and their wives.
I had not read the first in this series. I am not sure if there is any. I enjoyed the use of verbage in this read. I wanted to slap Tage and say what the hell!!! Michelle is sweet and takes a quick assessment of the chemistry passing through them on the elevator ride to work. Never has anything like that happened. Of course, being the man that he is ...allows him to screw up and if course, he sews his royal oats!! Lol.. good terminology ..I know!! Well, they end up feeling and being more than each other expected because of their chemistry. It was a good read. Emotions are high in this one!! Enjoyed it!!
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review. Thank you, Net Galley!
As Jane Austen said: “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” ― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
Add to that some BDSM themes and a subplot of bad guys and you have yourself a story. Though the ending seemed a bit rushed and I would have liked Tage to teach Michelle more about the BDSM world. This was an interesting story. I will definitely add the first two in this series to my TBR.
This is the 3rd book in this excellent series and I am hoping there is more to come. Talen is a Black Gryffon and knows he must marry to carry on the legacy and continue the defense of the Chimera. This book had me hooked from page one. The story is excellent and action packed. Talen is a hot sexy alpha male and I love how Michelle easily get under his skin. The story is exciting and fast paced and so sexy. Loved It!
Didn't like Talen much for majority of story, even with the excuses provided by the author for his behavior. The idea has lots of potential but it felt like lots of bits and pieces with bad transitions.
The first one was ridiculous - the second one was meh - at least this one was mostly comedy- absolutely worst ending ever - everything was just hanging - no resolution whatsoever - waste of money and time
Great book, not really paranormal books though. The paranormal part was only at the end of the book. I did enjoy reading the book. Will definitely read more books by Tawny Taylor.

He must marry in order to carry on the family legacy but before Talen convince the woman he wants, Chimera threatens everyone he cares for and this time he may have to sacrifice himself to save them in this riveting paranormal romance.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of action, suspense, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the suspense and drama draw the reader deep into the story while the strong compelling characters captivate the readers from the very beginning.
Talen is a little skeptical of his attraction for Michelle, he needs a woman who can submit to his dominance, to be his partner for love and his slave for sex and Michelle doesn’t seem the type, but he can’t stay away and Michelle is not one for casual sex but she can’t say no to the overwhelming chemistry that pulls her to Talen which of course leads to some scorching hot sex scenes including BDSM. The reader can’t help but get caught up in all the drama that unfolds during this romance as Talen has to learn that he can’t just push to have everything his way. Not to mention that there is a contender for Talen’s affections and she will do her best to drive a wedge between Talen and Michelle and keep him for her own hidden agenda.
Chimera has found them and does everything in their power to keep the couple apart and of course to try to get The Secret out of the Gryffon brothers and destroy them. Spine tingling anticipation builds as the danger escalates and secrets and lies unfold causing lots of excitement. I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and I love the fascinating characters and story line. Unfortunately for me I was left with a few questions at the end, but I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t read the first two books…yet or if the author has another book planned but it was very exciting and the questions were just minor ones not nothing major.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have not read any of the other Gryffon stories in this series and I think it really impacted my understanding of this one. This was not a book with a lot of explanation to catch readers up. It dove right in and kept going without dropping any big hints. Overall, this was a mix of action, romance, and sexy times.
Michelle is an adorably quirky and loveable girl who finally works up the nerve to talk to the hottie who rides the elevator to work with her. Talen is a lot more than she bargained for, though. He’s a Gryffon (I think, although they don’t change into them?), and he’s been tasked with getting married and having a son ASAP. His hardcore BDSM lifestyle, however, has him feeling like he deserves a woman who is more practical and less loving than little ole Michelle. The sparks fly from the first encounter and the heat just grows from there. For a man who thinks he is completely BDSM, there was actually not a lot of bondage in the book (so if that’s not your think, I don’t think that should scare you off). There was a lot of relationship drama, bad guy drama, and baby mama drama all rolled into one paranormal story.
You get a pretty satisfying ending, but I find myself still left with questions. I would love to go back to fill in the blanks with the first few of the series just so I can fully enjoy this one. If you’re thinking about picking this book up, I highly recommend you start at book 1.
I would rate this a 3.5 stars! This is the first book in the series that I have read and found that it can be read as a standalone, though I am sure reading the first books would have been a little helpful in understanding the secondary characters and their pasts. I chose this story based on the blurb as well as the author, Tawny Taylor. I was a little disappointed in the character description of Talen...the blurb claims he wanted a wife who would be both loved and a slave for sex whom he wanted to dominate which sounded fantastic but Talen didn't come across to me as an alpha man. He was a secretive and caring man but not very dominate, though there were teases of it in the beginning. Michelle was a very sweet and naïve woman who fell in love with Tage/Talen as he is on his quest for the perfect woman. I did enjoy the relationship building for Michelle and Talen as well as the whole premise of the book/series. The story was well written with a great mix of chemistry, action and romance. I recommend this book to readers of romantic suspense with small elements of paranormal but if you are expecting what the blurb implies, you will be disappointed even though you will get an engaging romance that I am sure you will enjoy. Out of the 3 I liked this one the best. Loved the tension between Talon and Michelle. Loved to hate Angela.
I would have given it a higher rating but switching between the characters left me a little confused sometimes. And the I hated the ending, so anticlimactic! No closure. Killed the book for me. I was expecting so much, then "boom" (literally) done. really.
26% may not seem like much, but it was enough for me to be turned off the book. There were things that happened that didn't sit well with me and left me confused and just annoyed. I just didn't feel like this was for me, the transition between the characters, the decision of the characters and just the overall beginning was not enough to make me want to continue.

The excerpt of the book sounded amazing. The actual story just didn't do it for me. It stated that this could be read as standalone but I wouldn't recommend doing that. I felt that I was missing something when reading the story. The characters weren't developed to where I think they should be. He is a Dom but didn't come across this way. I am glad that I got this from netgalley and didn't purchase it. I would not recommend this book.

The book started out wonderfully; awesome character interactions, great chemistry between them, a good plot, beautifully written. The closer the end came, however, the plot seemed to lack focus and kind of jumped around to me. I would still give it a strong three stars. It was good, but didn't really click with my preferences.
What is wrong with authors! This is book 3 in the series but nowhere at the front of the book does it mention this fact. Ok all three books are standalones but you miss out on previous facts from the past two books. Sometimes it gets confusing when the lead character talks about his two brothers. So my recommendation would be if you want to read this book - read the other two first.
The book was ok for me, the sex scenes are hot, but overall the book seems rushed and the ending doesn't explain a lot. Character development in the story is not great, I wished for more . I was given a copy of the story for review from Net Galley for an honest review.
