In this book, we are in the Montana Territory on the Coulter ranch. Miles is 1 of 6 brothers and has spent his life helping guard the family's sapphire mine hidden in the Montana mountains. Threats from a past enemy looms and a survey team's arrival stirs suspicion -- until he meets Clara Pendleton and he is captivated by her. We see her Uncle hurt and Miles' family helps them out, but Clara gets roped up in some trouble with the enemy....things go on from here.

This was a really nice read! It makes me want to go back and read the other books in the series now because I really enjoyed these characters. It's set in the late 1800s and the slow down of life and focus on faith and family is ever present here. Even though our characters have lost loved ones in their lives, they hold close to the family that remains and take care of their own. Oh, and I loved the details with the Sapphire Mines too!

Clara is put between and rock and a hard place - a situation where she has no idea what to do, except to trust the Lord in it. She does the best she can in the circumstances and I love when things are revealed how it was handled between her and Miles. It was mature and there was understanding and grace given.

I like how their romance grew and the way it ended too! Very sweet. He was very protective of her, which I always love in a historical romance. :)

This is part of a series but I feel like you could read this as a standalone as I did and still enjoy it and not miss anything. But I will be going back and reading others in the series, because I need to know!

Thank you to Misty Beller for providing a copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

1870 Montana

Clara leaves her home on the east coast to serve on a survey team in the west with her uncle. She's getting away from an unwanted suitor. Her sketching skills are an asset for the team and she also helps with cooking meals. As the survey team comes upon the Coulter land, secrets come to light.

Miles is the youngest of the Coulter brothers and is loyal to his family and land. Interest sparks between the two of them early on.

It was an enjoyable journey to watch their love blossom and Clara's future plans change.

I look forward to the conclusion of the series.

My gratitude to the author for a complimentary e-copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

This is the seventh book in the series and it definitely works as a standalone. I enjoyed this story of Miles and Clara. I loved watching their sweet relationship progress. Clara is put in a tough spot, however, she is threatened and asked to betray the family she is getting to know and love but if she doesn’t comply they may be hurt along with her uncle. I love how much Miles cares about Clara and his sweet sleigh ride gesture is a great moment in the story. I also enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books. There is also great Christian content included. I did think the ending was a bit rushed and the story a little predictable but I don’t mind predictable. Can’t wait for the next one! Overall a great read and I recommend!

Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret is another exciting addition to the Brother’s of Sapphire Ranch saga. The youngest brother, Miles, meets his match in this novel and shows himself to be another worthy Coulter hero.

Miles has seen most of his brothers find the loves of their lives in the earlier stories, so he recognized early on that what he was beginning to feel for Clara was special. I enjoyed seeing Clara and Miles fall for each other. They were both just so sweet! But, poor Clara. She ended up stuck in a situation out of her control that could bring harm to the Coulter family and, at first, I wasn’t sure if she made the right decision in the way she chose to handle it.

This family has had to face quite a few threats to themselves and their land in this series and it looks like there is one more book left to completely wrap things up. I’m looking forward to reading it.

One of my favorite places to be in fiction lately is the Coulter Ranch in the Montana mountain wilderness, so I’m delighted to return for another visit in Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret by Misty M. Beller. And, oh man, I’m torn between DYING for the next book – because I can’t wait to find out why Sampson has made the decisions he has over the past few installments – and DENYING that it’s the last one in the series. I don’t want my time with the Coulters to be over! Please consider this my formal petition to the author for a new series of books surrounding the Coulter kiddos, set a few years down the road.

But I digress. This review is about Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret, so let’s talk about this engaging & heartwarming quick read. We’ve all – and by ‘we’ I mean me and the Coulters lol – been jumpy given the harrowing events a few books back when strangers of ill repute sneaked onto their land, stole their secret stash of sapphires, and shattered the safety the family had treasured up until this point. And it would therefore be easy to close ranks and turn away the band of surveyors for the railroad that just demanded a place to set up camp while they take their measurements. But Beller comes up with a very plausible reason for them to not only acquiesce to the request (albeit a bit grudgingly) but even invite two of the team – a young woman and her wounded uncle – into the main house to stay.

I loooooooved getting to know youngest brother Miles better in this book, his inventions and creative repairs making him stand out from the other brothers in endearing (and yes, swoony) ways. I also enjoyed meeting Clara and watching her relax into the embrace of the Coulter family, their joy and mutual affection appealing to her along with the peace that their home exudes. And if you’re thinking that Miles is drawn immediately to Clara, you’d be right. But oh it becomes so much more complicated than that, thanks to a secret hanging over her head. She is definitely burdened by an impossible dilemma which serves to keep the tension crackling and that ever-present-lately sense of danger continuing to hover. And yet… their actual falling in love is easy, and Beller has written a super sweet romance that blossoms between these two creative souls – Miles the tinkerer and Clara the sketcher. (She might argue that she’s not creative, but I beg to differ with her after the clever solution she comes up with!)

Bottom Line: Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret by Misty M. Beller entertained me from beginning to end and left a smile on my heart to boot. The forced proximity romance between Miles and Clara brought the word ‘cherished’ to mind, and the warm family dynamics reminded me why I love this series so much. There’s just enough danger to add some adventure and mystery to the mix, and Beller introduced some new intriguing information (WHO is the mysterious lurker?!?!?) that has me on the edge of my seat (even more than I already was) for the next book. I can’t wait to see what is up with Sampson and the stolen sapphires and all the things that Beller’s been building toward in this series but oh how I’ll miss these delightful Coulters and their growing family. If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend starting from the beginning. They’re all quick reads, and you’ll be glad you read them!

Guarding the Mountain Man's Secret is a tale of faith, sweet romance, danger, and deceit.

Clara is an endearing character. I admired her loyalty and protection of her uncle, who also deserves a shout-out. She's a sweet, intelligent, persevering, and stuck in a hard, unenviable dilemma. Likewise, Miles is a great hero. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow.

As usual, Beller includes a lovely amount of faith, which I always appreciate. Beller also does a fantastic job of conveying the setting in such a way that the reader feels like they're right there with the characters. The danger was on-point and the ending was perfect.

If you enjoy Christian western historical romances, be sure to check out this book.

ENJOYABLE HISTORICAL.

This was my first book by this author and I would read another one! It’s a sweet Christian historical romance with a bit of suspense that keeps you flipping the pages. I loved that it was dual POV and I liked both Clara and Miles a lot. There was an agreeable nature to both of them and the instant attraction worked well overall.

Now this book is only about 200 pages and that’s where I wish it could have been different. The short length didn’t lend itself the necessary depth to the characters or romantic relationship. I would have loved to have seen something more and get an expansion on multiple fronts.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series and didn’t have a problem with understanding the basic character dynamics of the family members. It’s a fast paced read and great if you need a short book for your reading goals.

Overall audience notes:
- Christian Historical Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: mild
- Content Warnings: murder (off page)

This is an amazing book! There's intrigue, suspense, kidnapping, and more! The Coulter family and home provide sanctuary and peace to many.

Miles, sigh, he is so wonderful! He is creative, always inventing a new gadget. He's also a protector and full of compassion. Clara is fantastic! She's loyal, strong, and capable.

The love story is sweet and romantic! It all starts with a romantic sleigh ride. They do face many obstacles, but their love remains strong.

I have read some of the books in the series, and they're all amazing! I'm eager to read the next and final book.

I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved reading Miles’ story! The Coulter brothers stories have been quite the adventure…one more to go.

You’ll find Misty’s signature throughout this book: tenderness, care through peril, wrestling difficult choices, and beautiful love of family.

If you’ve never read a Misty Beller book, but love Janette Oakes’ Love Comes Softly series, you’ll love this.

My favorite scene was the shack in the snowstorm.

Upper G for heat.

I’m so stoked to read Samson’s story next!

I enjoyed this lovely clean Christian romance, my first by the author. Clara and her uncle travel to the Montana Territory as part of a railroad survey team in 1870. She meets Miles, youngest of the Coulter brothers, when his family takes in her uncle after he's injured, and right from the start Clara and Miles are drawn to each other.

I loved their growing relationship, the splendid western setting, the unraveling of an impactful mystery, and the way in which faith gives depth to the entire story. Highly recommended!

Thanks to the author for the gorgeous ARC. Opinions are mine.

In book 7 of the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch, we return to the Coulter ranch in the Montana Territory when Clara Pendleton travels with her uncle and a survey team mapping a possible railway path. The family is already suspicious of people coming on their land. After an accident, they allow Clara and her uncle to recoup in the Coulter’s home. She and the youngest brother, Miles, feel drawn to one another. I really enjoyed this book. It is a shorter quick read, but full of suspense, adventure, a forced-proximity love story, and a focus on faith and family. Even though this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. 8/10✨ ⁣

If you are a fan of the American Western frontier, horses, or historical romance, Misty M. Beller’s series, Brothers of Sapphire Ranch is a recommendation I would give you. We have worked our way with Beller down to the youngest brother, Miles, who feels the need to prove his worth to his brothers. His story is volume seven of the series, with one brother yet to have his story. I definitely think you need to read these books in order, though there is a basic recap of the group at the beginning.

I thought this couple might have been a little young, but people did (and still do) get married early back then. I enjoyed their romance that was helped along by forced proximity as Clara and her injured Uncle Hiram are forced to stay with the clan while Hiram’s injury heals. This is a love-at-first-sight novel, or as I’d prefer to think of it, interest aroused at first sight.

Poor Clara! She is placed in a predicament that no one would want to be in. How will she and those she has learned to truly care for escape unscathed? About a quarter way through the book, there are twists and turns that really cause the action to start igniting.

“He felt like a true friend, the first she'd had in ages.” I loved the way Miles listened to Clara. Really listened. So much so, that a special treat at Christmastime is a result. I enjoyed reading about the horrible snowstorm while safe in my chair!

One thing I have to say for the Coulters: their love for the Lord and for each other produces a very attractive atmosphere in their compound. “…the camaraderie, the laughter, the genuine care for one another—it was more than she’d known in a long while.

Another element I liked seeing. Some Coulters whose stories we’ve already experienced, still have flaws and need tempered by others, whether a spouse, a brother, or a friend.

One part I didn’t see was a true ending. And that is because just as I thought things were winding up for a solution, Beller throws in a monkey wrench and now we need the next and last book!! And we need it yesterday!

I received a copy of the book from the author through Celebrate Lit. I also bought my own copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Notable Quotables:

“old grief hung in his words. She knew that sadness. It never left, just…changed.”

“Sometimes, our minds protect us from the things that hurt too much to remember. It doesn't mean you loved them any less."

“The man wore suspicion like a pair of trousers.”

Guarding the Mountain Man's Secret, by Misty M. Beller, is the book 7 in the Sapphire Brothers series. The author does a good job of giving background information so it is a nice stand alone story, but since it follows closely behind the previous stories, it is best to read them in order. This is a well written, easy to read Christian historical story that has mystery, suspense and romance. The story has quite a few characters as each of the Coulter brothers have added women to their family. This is younger brother Mick's story. A team of railroad surveyors happen upon him, seeking a place to camp. Part of the team is a young woman, Clara, that catches his eye. When her uncle severely burns himself, Mick takes Clara and her uncle to the Coulter home to be cared for.
This is a nice, easy to read and imagine story. The author's writing is so clear, it's easy to imagine the surroundings and what is happening. I enjoyed how caring the Coulter family is and how they all watch out for the family and their home. I also enjoyed how easily Clara fit into the family and how quick she was to help the women with the cooking. I admire her quick mind and her actions when she was pressured to take the deed for the Coulter property for her employer.

This is book seven in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series and I have enjoyed getting to know this entire family and the circumstances that has brought love into their lives. Take a trip into the mountains of Montana in 1870 to meet the youngest Coulter son, Miles, who is the creative one. He is quieter and seems to fade into the background but it is finally his time to have a sweet romance from an unexpected encounter when a survey team for the railroad ends up camping on the Coulter property. Can Clara be trusted or is she up to nefarious deeds for the survey company. Her choices can dictate her destiny. I love this charming family and the faith that binds them together through thick and thin. Their hospitality to outsiders is an example we should all follow. I would love to see their sapphire mine and hold one in my hand after following their operation throughout the series. The author is a great storyteller that makes you feel like you are sitting around the campfire listening as she speaks. I recommend reading this series for your own enjoyment.

Christmas with the Coulters. What could be better? Five feet of snow on the ground, sleigh rides, mince pies, babies, just what you want from a Christmas story. Just one thing drove me crazy. Why haven’t they moved the strawberries to a safer location when they know the thieves know about the shed? Why?? Also, you can’t do surveying in snow. Should have been a dead giveaway these men were up to no good. Only one more book to set all to rights. What’s going to happen? I can’t stand it!

Another sweet story! This one had so much tension, with Clara having to sneak around and try and keep everyone safe herself. I loved that she was smart and quick to come up with a good plan to fool Holloway. Miles was a fun match for her, with his tinkering and inventions! And I loved his romantic gesture. The ending felt a bit fast, but I liked how it kept the overarching story going, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Content: mild violence.

Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret was a wonderful addition to a series that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This was my third book by this author, and she is quickly becoming a favorite.

I don’t know how to explain the charm of this series well enough to do the stories justice. There’s a kind of beauty and comfort that this series delivers to readers that makes me wish this series would never end.

I’m not usually a fan of shorter stories because I always end up wanting the story to be longer. Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret (honestly, this whole series) feels different. It’s a shorter story, yes, but at the same time, it’s everything you love in a full-length novel. I’m not sure how to explain it. Maybe it’s because the series has so many wonderful stories to enjoy, so you don’t have to say goodbye to the characters because you will see them again in the next books.

The romance was so sweet. From the moment they met, I knew that Clara and Miles would become a new favorite book couple. I loved how Clara joined their happy home and was able to find the happiness she so desperately wanted and deserved.

If you like romance, suspense, characters that will steal your heart, and just a comfort read to revisit over and over whenever you want to smile, please read this one!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Guarding the MountainMan’sSecret by Misty M. Beller

Thank you so much for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

Rating: Four stars. The story was interesting, though the writing didn't pull me in much. The slight mystery of what the bad guys are up to, and what Sampson is up to continues.

Language/Profanity: Nothing. Other than calling someone a rake... I don't know what that means but I get the feeling he deserved it.

Faith: Praying, thanking God, and talking about God.

Romance/Sex: Noting/admireing beauty/handsomness, noting the persons characters, wanting to kiss, kisses and hugs. Hands touch and a tingle goes up the arms. The characters were stuck in a shed for some time.

Violence ect.: Dangerous people, Dangerous cold, mention of past bad people, past beatings, a bad burn, fever and pain, blood, and a butchered animal (not too detailed) threats, a child in danger, someone barely detailed getting beat up, being tied up.

Other: talk of past mistakes nearly getting people killed, talk of parents dying, mention of how some people feared the natives.

Part of a Series: Yes. This is the seventh book in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. There is one more book coming out latter.

Tropes:
*forced proximity
*mystery to uncover
*family saga (series is about 6 brothers!)
*Rocky Mountain wilderness setting
*frontier time period

Synopsis:
In the wild mountains of the Montana Territory, the Coulter ranch is a place of family, second chances…and a hidden fortune.

Miles is the youngest of six brothers, and he’s spent most of his life helping guard the family’s a sapphire mine hidden deep within the Montana mountains. With threats from a past enemy looming, a survey team’s arrival stirs suspicion—until he meets Clara Pendleton, whose presence captivates him.

Clara Pendleton joins her uncle on a survey team tasked with mapping the coming railroad's path, only to find herself entangled with the enigmatic Coulter family. When her uncle’s accident leads them to find refuge in the Coulter home, Clara is irresistibly drawn to Miles Coulter and his quiet strength. This feels like the haven she craves…until a series of mysterious attacks endanger everyone on the ranch.

As Christmas approaches, a sleigh ride through a snowy wonderland fans the growing spark between Clara and Miles into a flame, but a broken runner leads Clara to discover the family's secret. Now she’s faced with an impossible betray the man she’s coming to love or risk the lives of his entire family—and her own uncle.

Thoughts: This is a really good book, probably the only reason it is not a five star was because for me the writing and characters didn't draw me in fully. There seemed to be something... standoffish about it. And the characters didn't have the full fleshing out the characters in Mardan's Mark did. But I might have been spoiled with that book. Other than that it really was a good book, I liked how Miles listened and heard what Clara was saying. I liked how he didn't blame her about what happened. And as much as Clara seemed spoiled, as I am writing this I can see that she was just worried. This book wasn't full of danger, though there was some, so it seemed slightly calmer than the others. We are getting closer to the end, closer to finding out why Sampson left to work with the bad guys, and honestly I am really looking forward to the next book!

Favorite character, part, quote:
Character: Honestly, the characters didn't have as much fleshing out as I would have loved to see. But they did have some, so... I like both Clara and Miles.
Part: The slegh ride. This was not done just out of 'romantic thoughts'. Miles remembered what Clara had said and decided to do something nice for her.
Quote: I actually don't have one.

Another exciting addition to the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series! I’ve loved reading the stories of these lovable brothers as they survive all sorts of dangers & find love. Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret is the youngest brother, Miles’ story & I loved seeing him get his moment to shine.

The Coulter family ranch harbors a wealthy secret, a sapphire mine deep in the mountains on their Montana property. They’ve experienced several threats recently, so when a survey team working for the railroad shows up on their property, they’re immediately suspicious. But when a beautiful woman who’s part of the team & her injured uncle need help, they’re welcomed in to stay at the family’s ranch.

Clara Pendleton left her home back East to join her uncle as part of a railroad surveying team to get away from an unwanted suitor. As part of the crew, she uses her drawing talent & helps prepare meals. When she meets Miles, she’s immediately taken with him, but when she’s put in an unimaginable situation, Clara has to choose whether to betray the trust of the man & family she’s come to love or risk their lives by refusing.

Miles is the tinkerer in the family & spent most of his life helping to guard their secret mine. When he meets Clara, it’s an instant attraction. He’s seen his brothers fall in love & now it’s his turn. As the Christmas season approaches & they find themselves in close proximity, the sparks fly, but can he convince Clara to stay?

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Miles & Clara! Clara’s faced with such an awful dilemma & I admired the creative way she tries to solve it. I loved all the situations she & Miles find themselves in especially the sleigh ride. It all comes down to the wire as Clara’s secret & the danger & threats come to a head.

Highly recommend this action-packed inspirational romance! Can’t wait for Sampson’s story. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased a copy in Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Christian Historical Romance is one of my favorite Genres.. Misty M. Beller is my favorite author in this genre. Guarding the Mountain Man's Secret is the latest book in this genre that I have read. It is Book 7 in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. I have enjoyed this series since the very first book!

The setting is 1870 in Montana. The 2 main characters of this book are Miles Clouter and Clara Pendleton. Miles the youngest brother of the Clouter Family. He has had the duty of guarding a family secret for many years, a sapphire mine. Life is good and then they get notice that a land survey will need to be done and that is how he meets Clara. Clara's uncle is part of the Surveyors team and her uncle is taken to the Coulter Ranch after an accident happens. He and Clara are being taken care of by the Coulter family. Clara and Miles have started to take a liking to one another. The entire ranch crew begins to receive threats and attacks. Clara and Miles take a Sleigh ride in the snowy winter wonderland. As Milies is tending to a broken sleigh, Clara inadvertently discovers the Family Secret Sapphire Mine. Clara doesn't want to let Miles know she find the mine, but she also doesn't want to lie to him. Who will Clara be true to her family, especially her uncle? Will Clara be truthful to Miles? Who will Clara be faithful to?

WOW, this is probably my favorite book in this series. I really LOVE how Clara and Miles are connected. Miles and the Coulter Family are always so welcoming of anyone they meet and taking care of Clara's uncle is no exception. The instant connection between Clara and Miles is soo amazingly cute. The fact that Clara ran to God when in a predictment shows GREAT trust in not Human's but in GOD! Faith, Friendship, Family and LOVE. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. I HIGHLY suggest reading the series in order and you will come to love the Coulter family as much as I have! Misty M. Beller has written a WONDERFUL series once again! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Some men guard land. Some guard secrets. And some? They guard hearts. Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret delivers all three, wrapped in a story that had me completely hooked.

Miles Coulter knows the weight of responsibility—protecting what’s precious, standing firm when danger looms, and making the kind of choices that carve a man’s character into stone. Guarding is about defense and it’s about wisdom—knowing when to trust, when to fight, and when to risk everything for something greater.

Clara Pendleton is trained to map the land, to see what others overlook. But out here in the Montana wilds, she’s charting more than rugged terrain. She’s navigating the unspoken, the undeniable pull of the Coulter family’s world, and a truth that refuses to stay buried.

Misty M. Beller nailed this one. The pacing? Spot on. The setting? Stunning. The faith thread? Deep and real. When Clara finds herself backed into a corner, when the stakes skyrocket, when there’s nowhere left to turn—she does the only thing she can: "Lord, I’m sorry for not turning to You first. We need You. More than I’ve ever needed You before.”

That hit me hard. Because isn’t that the heart of faith? Realizing we were never meant to figure it all out alone? That God never fails to share His peace when we ask?

This book gave me everything I love—danger that kept me on edge, a romance that felt earned, a family I wanted to be a part of, and Christian faith that linger deep in my soul.

Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret reminds us we don’t walk this life alone. And that sometimes, the greatest thing we can do isn’t to hold on tighter—it’s to trust the One who holds it all.

I received a digital ARC of this book from Celebrate Lit Publicity Group. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

This is a book I really wish I could give a 4.5 rating to. If you noticed, this is the seventh book in this series, which should tell you I like it a lot. I also liked this book—for the most part—a lot. But there was one thing that bothered me enough to not want to give it a 5.

You’ll just have to read it yourself and see if you spot it and agree. And if you don’t, that’s fine. Whether or not you accept that premise is up to you. I struggled with it. At times I tried to accept it, but repeating the words made it, if anything, less believable rather than more.

On the other hand, I purposely read a Misty M. Beller book this past week because I was tired of being disappointed by the quality of so many of the books I’ve read lately. I know I can depend on Misty to write a solid book. But I didn’t realize how solid it was until I brought up my notes and highlights and saw I’d only made two! One was that bit in Chapter 20. The other was the only noticeable grammatical error in the entire book.

This is really a series that should be read in order because of the number of characters involved. If you start with this book, you’ll probably be overwhelmed by the full cast. If you haven’t started this series yet, go get Healing the Mountain Man’s Heart and be prepared to fall in love with it.

Every book in this series has some level of intensity that keeps it moving quickly. Clara and her Uncle are travelling with a group of railroad surveyors that happen upon the Coulter Ranch territory, bringing everyone together in a tense situation. Clara is a mapmaker for the surveyors, but when her Uncle is injured by hot water in their camp, the Coulter family takes the two of them in while he heals.

The Coulter family is simply trying to live a quiet life on their ranch, but as we've learned throughout this series, that is much easier said than done. They've been faced with a lot of challenges from criminals nearby that want to take their land or the resources on it.

Miles Coulter is the youngest brother of the family and an ingenious creator as well. He spends a lot of his time crafting new tools for the family or working on things with them. When Clara and her Uncle end up at their homestead, Miles knows there's something between them and he's determined to help her as much as he can.

But loyalties are tested as Clara's life and her Uncle's is threated by the surveying team if she doesn't locate the deed for the ranch and create a falso bill of sale handing over the land to their boss.

I really loved how quickly this book moved and of course the peacefulness of the Coulter Ranch. This family is caring and sweet, creating a place no one would ever want to leave. Clara and Miles experience a very quick connection and know exactly where they'd like their future to go. But can they overcome the challenges they're faced with and find some sort of balance for their future?

We’re back to the Sapphire mines! I’d love to see one someday. Sapphires are one of my favorite gems. I love the blues and the fact they can be all different shades of the colour.

But this book isn’t just about the sapphire mine. It’s about the sixth brother and how he comes to find his true love. So you’re going to get romance but you’ll also get mystery and suspense and danger along the way.

I’ve had the pleasure of reading all of the books in this series. And yes, you want to read them all in order and not skip around. You’ll love meeting this family.

Clara is part of a survey team with her uncle for the railroad. Miles is one of the brothers that lives on and works the ranch. They have a secret and they want to keep it that way. So obviously they’re gonna be wary of the surveyors. But when Clara’s uncle is hurt they think nothing of pitching in and helping.

Clara and Miles hit it off. But when they take a sleigh ride they can’t know how things will turn out.

This was such a great novel and I loved getting to see other characters from the previous books as well. I always love getting a check in to see what they’ve done and where they are.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

Misty Beller is one of my favorite authors, and I can’t get enough of this series! She has a way of bringing the Montana Territory to life, making every story feel like an adventure while still delivering all the heartfelt romance I love.

This time, we get to follow Miles Coulter, the youngest of six brothers, who’s spent his life helping protect his family’s biggest secret—a hidden sapphire mine. But when Clara Pendleton shows up with a railroad survey team, things start to get complicated. Clara is smart and determined, but she never expected to get tangled up with the Coulter family. After an accident forces her to stay at their ranch, she finds herself drawn to Miles, even as danger starts closing in.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this book is how well it balances romance and suspense. There’s plenty of sweet, slow-building chemistry between Miles and Clara, but at the same time, mysterious attacks on the ranch and the weight of the family’s secret keep the tension high. When Clara stumbles onto the truth, it puts her in an impossible situation—one that had me completely hooked.

Beller’s storytelling is so rich and immersive, with the perfect mix of adventure, faith, and love. The snowy Montana setting makes everything feel so vivid, and the Coulter family’s bond adds so much warmth to the story. This book is another great addition to the series, with just the right blend of romance and suspense to keep things interesting!

Note: I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.

I have really been enjoying the growing family and community of the Coulter brothers. What started out as the oldest brother trying to keep all of his family safe and their secret of the sapphires, they mine under wraps, has turned at times frustrating and downright dangerous. As we get each brother's story, this one is Miles, he is the youngest of the six brothers.

While out on the property he runs into surveyors for the railroad. The brothers are already on high alert with an evil man and his henchman on the prowl, so not trusting this team of surveyors and their story is understandable. Except for Miles who is smitten with the lone female, Clara on the team.

Clara is running from an unwanted suitor back home and has come with her uncle to see more of the country. But what turns out as an adventure not only lands her and her uncle in danger but also lands her right in the open arms of Miles Coulter.

Can these two survive long enough to act on their feelings, or is the danger and Miles' family too big of stumbling blocks? I enjoyed this continuing adventure and am looking forward to the next book which wraps up the Coulter's family saga. Each story pulls us deeper into this family circle and the loyalty and love and yes, sometimes overprotectiveness is a sight to behold. Great storytelling.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 is a Christian Western Romance novel featuring Miles Coulter (the youngest Coulter brother) and Clara Pendleton. The story is set on Sapphire Ranch and has lovely themes of loyalty, faith, and love.

Miles is determined to prove himself to his siblings. His loyalty and relatable character make him easy to connect with and empathize. Clara is a sweet soul who faces a nearly impossible decision, showcasing her loyalty and kind nature. I couldn’t imagine being put in her dilemma.

The author beautifully incorporates elements of faith, keeping me engaged while displaying God’s love and guidance. The suspenseful atmosphere vivid setting, and the sweet and satisfying relationship between the characters add to the charm of the story.

This book is the seventh in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. I’m excited for the final book in the series, but at the same time, I don’t want it to end.

Overall, this is a captivating read that combines romance, faith, and suspense in a beautifully crafted story.

First Line: The late-afternoon sky stretched in a canvas of rich blue as Clara Pendleton guided her horse along the trail.

Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret by Misty M. Beller is a Christian Historical Romance. It continues the story of the Coulter family and tells Miles’s story. Set around a sapphire mine, this book develops the story of this family in a way that keeps you reading. As the youngest brother, Miles spent most of his life helping protect the secret of the family’s sapphire mine.

Clara Pendleton and her uncle are part of a surveying team. She finds herself entangled with the Coulters. She winds up staying with the Coulters through an injury her uncle receives. As she and Miles spend time together, the two begin to care for one another.

As with all of Misty M. Beller’s stories, the two experience some trials as their relationship develops. I love how the author builds the stories of the Coulter family throughout this series. You definitely should read these books in order.

If you have not read the other books in this series, I recommend you read them in order. Doing so will allow you to gain a deeper appreciation for the characters and the storylines.

So, if you are looking for a Christian historical romance, check out Guarding the Mountain Man’s Secret and the rest of the books in this series by Misty M. Beller.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

This Mountain man series continues. This is Mike story. It is compelling and sweet . It has elements of drama in it. The faith that this family and others in the story are inspiring. I really enjoyed reading this and the other in the series. They are stand alone books but it has so much more depth to them if you know the history of the family. I like that Miles is forward thinking in his inventions for the time period. It gives him another layer of depth. Young Clara has an adventurous spirit about her but she also is seeking “ home” even though she didn’t realize it. She is smart and talented enough that the railroad is using her to draw maps of their surveys. This is how she and Miles meet.

.
Clara and Miles are both 18. They meet when she and her uncle are with a group of men who are surveying for the railroad. She is tricked into doing something that would make the families have a life altering situation. It puts her and her uncle in grave danger but Miles and his brothers find them. They have several obstacles to overcome . Mile asks
Her to stay at the ranch so he can court her. He and his brothers run into Sampson while they are chasing after the surveyors in Missoula Mills . He warns them to go back to the ranch and stay.

While Miles Coulter is out testing one of his latest designs, he comes upon a group of surveyors. Returning to the house to tell the family, the brothers confront the strangers about being on their land. Among the group is a pretty young woman. No one has ever caught Miles's notice the way she does.

Clara Pendleton left Baltimore to escape an unwanted marriage. Her uncle Hiram invited her to join him on a survey crew in Montana Territory, drawing maps for the railroad. When her uncle is burned in a campfire accident and in need of medical help, Clara and Hiram are taken to the Coulter ranch.

While Hiram is recuperating, the leader of the survey team demands that Clara steal the deed to the Coulter homestead, or he will hurt her uncle. Clara is torn, though. She has come to love this family, especially Miles, who has done so much for her and wants to protect them as well.

Guarding The Mountain Man’s Secret is the seventh book in the Brothers Of Sapphire Ranch series by Misty M. Beller. I always enjoy returning to the Coulter ranch. Since I have already read Sampson's story, it was nice to see everyone find true love. I do wish it had continued a bit longer and wrapped up a few details.

I purchased a Kindle copy of this book.
