One look at her was all it took. Now I'll stop at nothing to keep her, even if it means burning the rest of this city to the ground.
Angel
My senator father might appear perfect to the rest of the world, but I know he's a terrible man. I just had no idea my twin brother was worse. When a scarred, huge man came storming into my house and claiming I was in danger, I was sure he was one of my father's men sent to protect me. I never would have imagined I was being kidnapped by a man planning to keep me for his own.
Church
The world is full of cold and cruel people, and they say I'm the cruelest of them all. It wasn't by chance that I earned my nickname. It's well known that I'm the last stop for the most vile men before I send them to meet their maker. Most beg and plead, but I don't do emotions. Their confessions fall on deaf ears.
Until her.
The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had to have her. An angel who is the complete opposite of me. There was nothing cold about her. She is sweetness and sunshine, and I want her all for myself. Except there's one problem; I'm not the only one who does.
Wowwwwzzaaa!!! This was freakin PERFECT!!! Loved. Every. Second!!
What do you do when you’re overwhelmed with deadlines at work, all your kids AND your husband are sick, the laundry hasnt been done and dishes are piling up AND in the midst of all that chaos, two of your favorite authors drop books back to back? Obviously, you lose sleep and read the damn books! Of which this was one (cassie mint’s “guarded by a broody biker” was the other) and it was so worth it!
Im always a sucker for a cold, detached hero who melts only for his soulmate, and this was that!! The hero doesn’t like touch—except the heroine’s and he’s cut himself off from human emotions.
Hes gruff, stern, but totally and completely obsessed with his Angel. I freakin loved the whole “see her, stalk her, take her” theme! Gimme all the crazy cavemen heroes, please! And i loved her—she was bubbly, sweet, nurturing and caring.
And cherry on top of all this swoony deliciousness?? DUAL VIRGINS!! Yasssssss, please! I adored the hero’s response to discovering passion for the first time with the heroine!
Super safe! Dual virgins, no ow/om drama, no cheating or sharing or abuse. Hea with epilogue years out
This was short and sweet! And SUPER CUTE!!!!!! Gah the H was amazing. I do think I need to read the one before this called the BULLY. Cause they seems to crosse over storylines. But the very first one in the series is a NO go for me and you don’t need to read it to read the next 2. Seriously if Lucy keeps giving me duel virgins I’ll read them all ♥️
Safe! DUEL VIRGINS!!!! No OPD Her twin has a weird fixation on her but he wasn’t a problem for the couple. H doesn’t like to be touched by anyone but the h
There will be some spoilers in this review, so you have been warned! I love this book. YES, READ IT!I will read it again and again in my favorites rotation! DUAL VIRGINS! *Booty shake, happy dance, grinning like a crazy person* Quote, “Make love to me, Abel. Be my first.” “Your only.” She smiles at me. Her dark green eyes are full of so many emotions. It is one of the things I love about her. She wears her emotions. There is no hiding them. It’s her nature. “My only.” Angel’s eyes widen in surprise at my admission. “But how?” “I don’t like to be touched.” I brush my mouth against hers. “Except by you.” I claim her mouth, parting her lips with my tongue." end quote They both experience all their firsts with each other, and best of all know that they are each others first and last!! Safe No cheating No OM/OW No OM/OW comparisons No separation No stupid third act break up No gross condom use HEA (you do not want to miss this!)
It is very rare, when a love story makes me so happy, that it makes me want to finish it only to reread it. (Yes, after my review I will reread it.) I want to reread it and be swept away by the swoon of Church and the sweetness of his Angel. I don't want to put many quotes this time, because I will be rereading this and want to rediscover my favorite parts again. This is my favorite Lucy Darling book. Not only did she give us an all dual vcards holders series, but she made the last book her best one! I am a sucker for the hulking, brutish, monosyllabic, hero that turns into marshmallow fluff when his one and only woman touches him. He is so completely enthralled and all in for her that you feel it and you look up at the heavens dreaming what it would be like to have a man so completely yours in all ways. Lucy Darling did a FANTASTIC job giving us just that. I lived vicariously through Angel's eyes, and would not mind staying in my reverie. This is the story of Church (Abel only to his Angel), who is a huge, bear of a man, an enforcer who has no problems extracting information from people (who deserve his harsh, bloody treatment), before slowly ending their life and feeling nothing afterwards. We know of him in this last book, "Bully" (also a DV), where he was in the house with Angel. The story starts with her in the car trying to pry the door open, and is bit scared of this man since he is the biggest, scariest man she has ever seen, not only that but the hottest! *wink wink*. He tells her that he took her to keep her safe and is keeping her, and that she will not escape because he won't let her. This isn't a threat, it is him just being truthful. He never felt emotions towards a woman, never let them touch him, never let them near him, and never felt his body respond to them in any way. He even thought that oral sex sounded kind of gross, but cannot wait to taste her because she is the only one who made him want to, which is so endearing! He felt all the feels for the first time with Angel, and what is so sweet, is that he feels a bit lost on what to do, but he knows that he is a quick learner, and all he wants is to please her. He does, my goodness this man is just, swoon worthy. He is the most forthright, the most alpha, OTT, protective, attentive, loving, and such a cinnamon roll to his Angel. He grunts his responses and is harsh to everyone but her, and it is so sweet and romantic to see them discover love, passion, intimacy and obsession for only each other. He even expresses it in his inner monologue on how he is so happy that his dick will only know Angel's pussy. That made me melt. There is nothing more romantic than a man that saves himself for love, and even better one that is glad that he did and is ecstatic that he gives every part of himself especially all his firsts to his one and only woman! That is Abel, and I am in love with him! He is also very scarred, tortured with a difficult past and lost in who he is. All he wants is to change to be the man she deserves, but changes were already brewing within him, and he welcomes it openly. Not once did he fight it! His love and wanting to keep her forever is unwavering. He shows her in every way he knows how to make her comfortable and happy, and gives her the love and protection she needs. It is serendipitous, that his brutish ways made him the perfect man for her, since he can use his strength to protect her. He is also incredibly thoughtful since he got her all her favorite clothes, tons of nail polish because he knows she loves her mani/pedis, and rescued a kitten that was in the vicinity because he knows that she might like one, since she doodles them all the time..(I love animals and I loved that a cat grew on him! Cats do that, and this one picked the right human!) He might think that he wants to change for her, but little does he know that his heart, mind, body and soul already changed since the moment he first laid eyes on her. She too became stronger with him by her side! Angel is a sweetheart! She was pretty much alone in the world, even if she had her father and brother, they both were either mean, cruel or just ignored her. That is when she met Riley in the second book, and for the first time experienced the beauty of friendship. In this book, she discovers what it feels like to find her soulmate! She is the perfect heroine for our sweet, tortured Abel who soaks up the love, kindness, caresses that he desperately deserves. She understands him, she finds out more about him but she always chooses him, and makes sure that he knows that she is by his side always, that she loves all of him. Both the brutish, scary Church, and the sweet, loving Abel. I love that in a heroine. My preferred heroines are ones that put in the effort to know their man, and do everything to make them feel love, tenderness, happiness and everything that they have been missing that they deserve. Angel was happy to give that to her hulking cinnamon roll and his response, practically purring like the lost kitten he rescued for her, is so endearing and sweet it made me cry! Abel deserves to be showered with love, warmth and kindness. Seeing him melt when she touches his cheek, soaking up all that love and sighing in sheer bliss, made me feel so happy for him. I love when she pokes her tiny finger in his chest, looks up at him with a scowl and speaks her mind. She is like a cute hissing kitten, and all it does is make Abel hard for her, and melt because he knows that she does not fear him. It is cute, funny and adorable, and just made me feel all the feels. This couple is just perfect. There is a lot happening most of it happens in Abel's converted warehouse. Many secrets with Angel's family is unveiled, a secret Abel is dreading to tell her is also unveiled (but worry not, it is him torturing her good for nothing father in the basement and she is at first in shock, but knows that her love for Abel makes her want him to know that she does not want to change him.) The epilogue is one I will reread again and again! This is such a treasure! If I can hug Lucy Darling I would, but I will do the next best thing and send a hug via the internet...*HUGS!!!* (Imagine this hug like how Agnes hugs Gru in Despicable Me!) Do yourselves a kindness, and read this book. I promise you will finish it with your heart and soul filled with happiness, you will feel all the swoon and just what a good romance leaves you with. A sweet sigh, head in the clouds dreaming of love like this. Thank you Lucy Darling, and I hope you gift us with more DV couples! You write them so well *giving my best puppy dog eyes, or better yet Agnes eyes...yes I love Agnes from Despicable Me, I think she is just too cute for words.* Happy reading!!
This novella deals with a bad guy who turns to mush when he meets his Angel and decides to steal her for himself. There's no coming back for him. No harm will befall his innocent lover.
However, she has no choice but to accept his kind of twisted, forever, loyal, protective brand of love. It's so insta-everything that you just have to enjoy it with your senses but the logical one :-D Lovely couple.
The plot starts in the thick of the kidnapping and evolves from there to Stockholm syndrom, hot bed time and the awakening of the girl to her man's dirty deeds (all kinds).
I enjoyed the contrast of characters though he has a soft side too. The dark part of the plot makes it all even spicier. The funny epilogue is the ideal final touch.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Church aka Abel is an assassin/fixer for Matteo (Born Into Sin) he is a hard scary man who does not know any softness. Until he sees Angel, everything changes for him, his new singular focus is Angel. When the takedown of Brent and Becky (Bully) happen he kidnaps Angel. She thinks he is a bodyguard hired by her dad to protect her from the shady people he does business with. Church does not confirm her belief because it suits his purpose. He takes her to his warehouse that he has converted into his home. Angel a romance reader finds him fascinating and is attracted to him, he is all those broody dangerous heroes she reads about come to life. Soon they are giving into their attraction and kisses lead to some sexy fun. Dual virgins. I liked that all new experiences were a first for both of them. Church had a very hard upbringing and he didn't like people touching him but his Angel is different and he craves her touch. He worries that her good feelings for him may end when she finds out that he has her father locked in his basement. Her friend Riley and Nicolai come to check on them and Riley tells her that Church is different with her. They don’t tell her he has her father but do tell her about the sick twisted murders her brother and Becky have committed. She’s shaken by how terrible they are and that they attacked Riley. Luckily Church and Nicolai were able to save her. Brent and Becky have gone missing and Matteo and crew are looking for them. Angel and Church talk and he tells her a little more about himself and what kind of work he does. She doesn’t totally approve but she knows she has real feelings for him and is willing to accept him. They have their first time together. Later she overhears him talking about her father and missing toes. When Church sees her she asks him if her father sent him to protect her, he tells her no. He says he did it to protect her and before they can talk anymore about it Riley and Nicolai arrive. The girls chat while the guys go to the basement to get info from her father. After piecing together that Church has her father somewhere they go looking for the guys. She finds him in the basement torturing her father. She is shocked, then Matteo shows up to take her father, he has her brother and Becky already. Church tells her that her brother has a sick fascination of her and has found girls that resemble her and has cameras in their home watching her. She is saddened and disgusted by the info. Chruch tells her he can stay with her and the others will take care of the three baddies. She knows he wants to extract revenge for all they year Brent tormented her. She tells him to go and do what he needs to, she will be waiting for him at home. Her and Riley hang out while the guys take the baddies and make it look like murder suicide so no questions are asked and none of the them are to blame. When Church comes home after everything is taken care of Angel tells him she loves him and he confesses his love too. Epilogue years later with all the ladies enjoying a spa day and the guys not being able to stay away from them any longer, they go to the spa. Church sneaks into Angel treatment room and gives her the massage she was signed up for.

I love a morally gray hero and Church aka Abel is that. He kidnaps Angel because he wants her knowing full well she’s a senators daughter. But her father and brother are such bad men. They get what they deserve. Loved Abel and Angel, loved this steamy romance with the morally gray hero. Great end to this trilogy.
FMC is too dumb for my taste. How is it possible for her to not know that MMC is not her security guard? She still lets him bring her to his warehouse/home and very much okay with him kissing her when she still thinks that he's her security guard.
The first two books are a lot better than this nonsense
Ok so pretty good I think it needs to talk about more how he sees Angel and not just start immediately with the whole she’s kidnapped thing. Like give it a chapter or two to lead up to it. You no add some suspense.
I loved this story!!! 5 stars means… I will read it again!! First of all, they are both virgins!! Their firsts are with each other; which grants it 2 whole stars for that alone.
It starts with Church kidnapping Angel. I liked her silliness (air guns!! ), her innocence, her sunshine; but also how strong she is facing somethings that are pretty hard to swallow, especially about her own family and Church’s profession. Church is the true OTT alpha, mega in love with his girl. That not even she can separate them. Feared by all except by his girl!! How he changed to being a little softer just for her. How patient and sweet with her he always was. How broken by thinking he was a monster and didn’t deserve her. I loved how she noticed all this and made sure he knew he deserved love and did things to let him know this. Their love is so sweet. I just loved the story.
SAFE virgin/celibate/manwhore: both virgins age gap: idk ow/om: nope separation/breakups: nope cheating/sharing: nope possible triggers: mention of torture, violence, and killings; mafia men HEA ♥️
We are back to the weird, stiff writing again that was somewhat in the first book in this series. It's weird, the 2nd book was a little more casual with the phrasing, the dialogs, etc but now we are back to it being... I don't know, for lack of a better word, I'm using stiff. It keeps switching from casual to... almost formal? Even then, I don't think rich, posh people speak like that so it's hard to explain. The best examples I can give are when the author uses words like "recall" instead of "remember", or things like " I give you my vow in that" instead of something more casual like "I give you my word" or "I promise". It's just... weird, especially since it's not all like that? Some of it is casual, and some is not. I'd probably understand it more if it wasn't the both sides of this being with the same character... and I don't know if I'm explaining that right 🤔.
All I am saying is that if the author wanted to make Angel or Abe come off as prim/proper or stiff, then you have to be consistent with that. It's weird that both have a casual and stiff speech/dialog and thought patterns. It makes it seem like both characters have different personalities.
Aside from, after reading the first two a lot of this book has a lot of the same recycled sentences, etc. Almost like she frankensteined the two previous books together and I guess I wanted more? It was a bit of a let down because the second book was a big step up from the first and this was just... disappointing.
On a side note, I also am not impressed that Riley seemed to change in this book and the way she handled things with Angel, who was supposed to be her friend felt... wrong. I get things are a bit different because of the life she lived vs Angel's but be a bit supportive instead of just shrugging or dismissing her.
The One is an intense and possessive romance that follows Angel, a sheltered young woman, and Church, a ruthless man who becomes obsessed with her from the moment he sees her. Angel has spent her life under the control of her corrupt father, unaware of the dark truths surrounding her family. When Church crosses paths with her, he decides she belongs to him and takes matters into his own hands—kidnapping her under the belief that he’s saving her from an even worse fate.
The romance is built on obsession and absolute devotion. Church doesn’t simply want Angel; he needs her, and he will do whatever it takes to keep her by his side. His love is all-consuming, leaving no room for doubt or escape. While Angel initially resists, she finds herself drawn to the intensity of his emotions. Despite the fear and uncertainty, there is a strange sense of safety in his presence—something she has never experienced before.
As the story unfolds, Angel struggles to reconcile her captivity with the growing feelings she has for Church. He is brutal and unyielding to the world, but with her, he is fiercely protective and even tender in his own way. Every action he takes is fueled by his unwavering belief that she is his, and he won’t let anything or anyone take her away.
This novella moves quickly, focusing on the deep, almost primal connection between the two leads. Their relationship isn’t built on slow-burn romance or traditional love; instead, it thrives on intensity, possessiveness, and the idea that Angel was always meant to be Church’s. For readers who enjoy dark romance with dominant, obsessive heroes and heroines who slowly surrender to their fate, The One offers a fast-paced and steamy experience.
WOW! I really liked the rest of this series [Born Into Sin & Bully] ... but this book I LOVED!! Church - who allows Angel to call him Abel - is just so adorable ... for a guy in his line of work. He filled a closet for her? And bought her a ton of nail polish? And rescued a kitten? WHAT??? It was awesome. But I really felt for Angel. She had no one. Her father and brother - Yikes! She acclimated very well to the craziness that surrounded her first encounter with Church. I was so happy that she was willing to listen to Abel and not jump to any conclusions; even though some sketchy stuff was happening. They were perfect together. Both alone in the world and coming together to create a family. Great series ... I highly recommend all three books.
I feel this book sort of ends Book 2: Bully in that you sort of find what happens to Riley's attackers... sort of, but not really. Again, I took a star off for not really having all the details of the conclusion. Yes, you find out about the main couple, but nothing about what happens to her original family. It mentions in the synopsis that someone wants her, but other than telling who and that he has a few pictures, it really is glossed over. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the story.. I just wish that some things were actually fleshed out. I think this author could definitely write darker stuff and pull it off if she'll just commit to it!
Church and Angel have to be my favorite story of this series. Two people at the opposite ends of the spectrum. One is friendly and good and the other knows no bounds and will do whatever he needs to do to get the job done.
There is only one person he will listen to or change for and that is Angel. He has never had that and he will do anything to keep her forever. But will she hate him when he finds out the things he has done or are they made to love each other.
Good thing you never have to worry if there is a HEA in a Lucy Darling book. She never disappoints that's for sure.
FMC: Angel MMC: Abel (aka Church) Tropes: novella, morally grey hero, grumpy/sunshine, kidnapped Spice Rating: 2 Series: Yes | Interconnected Standalone - Book Three in the Untouchables Mafia Series Cliffhanger: No
I think I loved Church’s story in this series the most. He’s such a red flag character and possibly the definition of psychopath… not sure there because he does feel emotions… well, at least when it comes to the FMC. That’s what I love the most. He’s a major softie when it comes to the FMC. A good ending to the series and this group of characters.
Naive woman and ultimate alpha male! Church will do absolutely anything for his Angel…. Except let her leave. Leave him that is. She’s stuck with him whether she likes it or not! And that’s why I loved him! Angel pretty much just agrees to stay with him even when she has a moment of doubt. I’m glad her new BFF was there to comfort her. You’ll greatly enjoy this insta love story where he falls first!
I am so excited to get this story! I have truly enjoyed every book in the Untouchables series. Abel is the beast to Angel’s beauty. They are polar opposites and yet work so well together. He gives her the safety and protection that she has never had before and she gives him the love that he’s never experienced. This is short and sweet and hot and steamy. So good! A fitting conclusion to this series.
I love this whole series, but this one is def my favorite. It nicelynss up the book before ,Bully, although I wish there were more details. We know enough about Angels brother and girlfriend but very little about the Senator father. Other than that, the love story is great. Swoon-worthy, sweet, and adorable. Lucy Darling is in my top three romance authors. Lover her books!!
Similar to the previous book, this was a mess of teenagers in highschool playing with mafia men. Angel gets kidnapped by Church, because he saw her and wanted her. So he kept her. Some smut. The end!
Similar to previous book, pages are overruled by inner-monologue and not much going on until the last two chapters. Church’s background is mentioned in two sentenced. Very fast paced, no plot, no development, just nothing.
This is the last book in the Untouchable series, and it’s Church & Angel. I loved this series, seeing these big bad dark men absolutely melt for the women who captured their attention. And Church was the most surprising. Night and day when it comes to his Angel. I think u need to go back and read them right through now! Can’t wait to see what Lucy Darling gives us next!!
Angel and Abel (Church), another story of man sees woman, man takes woman and then comes love. Angels family are evil and for the fist time she feels safe. Abel is feeling more alive every minute he is with Angel. Some external angst. Double V’s. A great epilogue
This story completes the trilogy of this series that is very good. Church knew from the moment she saw Angel that she was his to protect and for that he had to keep her away from his family. Very good story with a plot that will keep you stuck to each chapter and enjoy until you reach the happy end.
- Age gap (?) - Mafia (he’s a killer for the mafia) - Dual V - Both only eyes for each other - Novella
Was exited reading about Church (real name Abel) and Angel, and it didn’t not disappoint. Funny, unhinged novella, just like the rest of the series. Some drama with her brother and his gf from the previous book, and was nice to see how they got their punishment.
I LOVED this novella. There's something so addictive about a man who would do anything for his woman. I loved their relationship and how he wanted to protect her. Ugh! It was so good. I couldn't get enough of their story. It was fast and steamy. Amazing!
WOW! Soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T I love, love Church and Angel, they're soulmate! Such a wonderful and beautiful healing love story! I absolutly loved it and highly recommend this series! 😍❤️🔥❤️🔥🥰
These Alpha possessive, obsessive men are great. Give them a woman to focus on, and they are all in. Angel’s sweetness was the perfect buffer for Church’s “job”.
