Join adorable hedgehog Bean in the first picture book of a new series full of tiny stories about big everyday adventures that will warm quills — and tickle funny bones!
Meet Bean, a very tiny hedgehog. She loves ghosts, swings and a stuffie called Clem.
Meet Bean’s grandma. She loves strawberries, sweaters and tiny Bean burritos.
And they both love stories.
In ten tiny stories we follow Bean and her grandmother through adventures of the everyday. Bean loses her bad mood in a meadow and Grandma thinks she sees a ghost (don’t worry it’s just Bean!) — and there’s even a story with giant strawberries.
This first volume in the Tiny Bean’s Big Adventures series by acclaimed author/illustrator and hedgehog friend/insider, Stephanie Graegin, is the perfect gift for little (and big) readers and hedgehog admirers everywhere.
This is a fantastic and well written and illustrated book about a little one and their grandma and their special relationship thru telling stories. Loved it!
Adorable easy-read picture book with hedgehog characters. The everyday adventures of Bean and Grandma are told in ten small stories. I loved Bean's Boos! Funny and sweet, the tone and pacing reminded me of Minarik's Little Bear series, a favorite of mine.
This is adorable! Phrases like "smells like cinnamon and kittens" and "swingbean" and "a mood, a dramatic moping mood" will have kids and parents falling in love with Bean! This has the feel of a chapter book for young readers with "Bean" and her Grandma.

My five year old son and I enjoyed reading these short stories together over the course of a few nights. He laughed, and thought Bean was such a cutie pie! She really is! Each story has a cute little meaning behind it, and I enjoyed both the longer and shorter stories. The artwork was absolutely beautiful in every way, and I loved looking at all of the little details. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of these books in the future!
So thankful to take part in a read along for the coziest, sweetest children’s book! Tiny Bean goes on some big adventures, all collected like little short stories throughout. From swinging on swings, to make forts out of boxes, each little story is a picture into the sweet life of the little hedgehog Bean, his stuffie Clem, and his grandmother.
Cozy and sweet!
Definitely one to add to your collection!

Everyday Bean by Steehanie Graegin includes short snippets in the life of a young hedgehog and her wise grandmother. Each little chapter is about 4 pages of a window into her life: buying a houseplant, swinging, playing in a box, helping in the garden, etc. While the heading of the book says "Tiny Bean's Big Adventures," I would argue the chapters are small, daily life events that make up a sweet story. I especially liked the one where Bean tells her grandmother she's leaving to find a better mood. Her grandmother packs her a bag and tells her to be back by Tuesday. That type of dry, ironic humor fills the book. This book would work best on the lap of a grandparent who wants to share a special slice of time with their grandchild.
I agree with other reviewers that the illustrations evoke a Winnie-the-Pooh style and fit perfectly with the tone of the book.
I received an advanced copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Readers program and Tundra Books in exchange for an honest review.
Bean is a tiny hedgehog. Very adorable. And this book is a collection of stories about Bean's life every day. We learn about her blanket. And her "Boo!"s. And her favorite stuffie - a piglet named Clem. Bean lives with her grandma, who is very wise and understands ghosts and bad moods and reading bedtime stories. And this book would definitely make a lovely bedtime book! Share it with your favorite littles as soon as you can!
It is a picture book but it includes seven or eight individual chapters - each about a certain aspect of Bean's life. They aren't long, just a few pages. And the text is spread out and pages are filled with illustrations. So it is a book that you can read all at once. Or you could just read one story each day. Or both! Because it is certainly a book that you will enjoy reading more than once.
Everyday Bean was the perfect book to be reading and reviewing when my grandkids wee visiting. It contains 10 short, sweet stories about Bean and her Grandmother. From swinging, to using a box for playtime, to practicing BOO the stories contained recognizable activities and were engaging. The chapters are short and the book can be read in one sitting or it can be read a chapter or two at a time.We read it and enjoyed it both ways and my 3 year old grandson was ‘reading’ it and acting out some of the chapters. The illustrations were lovely and engaging. I highly recommend parents, librarians, and preschool teachers add this to their collection of books.
Thanks to Tandem Collective and the publisher for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I can't decide if I like Tiny Bean better or her Grandma?🦔
And don't get me started on her cute little stuffed piglet named Clem.
Stephanie Graegin has given us nine sweet chapters that have just a hint of sassiness to make things more interesting. Her illustrations are a bit fuzzy around the edges and give us a cozy feeling as we spend time with Bean and Grandma.
I am looking foward to more of Tiny Bean's Big Adventures! This would make a great gift for a new reader, too.
Thank you to Tundra Books and Edelweiss+ for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.
The kids are always so excited when I receive bookmail for them, and this super cozy read was no exception. Everyday Bean follows the adventures of a tiny hedgehog named Bean, her stuffie Clem, and her grandma. It's a collection of ten super short stories (each one is just two or three pages long) and I loved this approach to a story.
It's a simple and sweet read that my littles (ages 5 and 6) absolutely adored. And one that I had a lot of fun reading too.
I also genuinely think this book may have some of my new favourite illustrations. Each page is an absolute delight and completely captured all of our imaginations.
The girls and I were so excited to participate in a readalong of Everyday Bean … with the Tandem Collective Global community!
"Everyday Bean" by Stephanie Graegin was the cutest picture book with 10 short stories following Bean and her grandmother through everyday adventures!
We all laughed through these stories and I adored the beautiful illustrations. Perfect for kids of all ages, especially new readers because of the short sections! We can't wait to see what Bean gets into in the next book of the series!
Many thanks to Tandem Collective for this wonderful opportunity! AD-PR PRODUCT
Cute, short, adorable stories about a cute, short, adorable hedgehog named Bean. These illustrations are so cozy, and many of the stories are as well. Often, when animals are anthropomorphized within illustrations, they fit into the world as humans would, but Tiny Bean and her grandmother are the size hedgehogs would really be (strawberries are huge, and oak leaves are basically the same size as Bean). I think this makes the illustrations extra cute!
Hmm, the stories kind of have a Frog and Toad vibe.
Adorable brief stories about Bean the hedgehog who lives with her grandmother. Bean does everyday preschooler activities and those activities are told in very brief two or three page stories with plenty of illustrations. My favorite was “A Box for Bean” which was six pages, but still brief. Ah the joy and creativity of a child and a big box. Try it out parents and grandparents. And the illustrations were made by my least favorite method, digitally! Drawn on an IPad using Adobe Fresco and colored in Photoshop. These illustrations are sweet, adorable, and lovable.
Stephanie Graegin has penned 10 everyday snippets from the life of two hedgehogs, Clem and her grandmother. These brief episodes are filled with warmth, heart, and humor which is well-coupled with delightful artwork. These should work well for a reading cuddle on the couch with a grandparent or a parent.
Thanks to Tundra Books for another heart-warming tale and to LibraryThing for the GiveAway.
Oh my gosh, if you ever thought about falling in love with a hedgehog (or even if you haven’t), this is the book for you. Broken into ten short stories about Bean and his grandma, with some of them providing laughs and others providing good conversations for you and your reader. I absolutely look forward to further adventures for Bean.
This is a collection of small stories about being. Bean is a hedgehog that is lovingly illustrated. The stories are not funny or sad. They are just everyday occurrences in the life of being. The book works, but it’s one of those that I wouldn’t read frequently. But I can’t see some kids really enjoying this look at life type of story.
Owing much in form to the Little Bear books this charmer introduces Bean, a tiny hedgehog, and lets the narrator take over. In short, slyly funny stories we follow Bean as they play, help, haunt, swing, appreciate their best friend Clem, try to solve a bad mood, and finally get tucked into bed. Completely lovely. Perfect illustrations by the author.
Everyday Bean is a lovely little picture book, with soft illustrations and sweet humor. Bean is adorable and endearing and Beans world is comfy and safe. This is a story adults and children should enjoy reading over and over together.
A longer style picture book with mini stories about an adorable hedgehog named Bean and their Grandma. They stories are sweet, charming and perfect for calm down time. The writing is also simple enough that I would call this an early reader for some kids.
So sweet and adorable! The illustrations are warm and gentle with lots of white space celebrating the bond between grandmother and grandchild (and hedgehogs, who are irresistible), the 10 short stories are just right for some snuggle time before bed. Lovely!
Quite possibly one of the sweetest picture books I’ve read. The artwork is beautiful and the mini stories in this book depict everyday moments in a little one’s daily life. My daughter and I both adored this book.
Thank you for making that book, i have a sister named Cora and we call her Beans. My name is also Clementine, which people call me Clem. This is such a surprise and we love this book. -Clementine (age 5) 😍🎂
The cutest hedgehog book I've ever read. It includes 10 tiny stories about Bean's daily adventures as told by her piglet stuffie, Clem. Beautifully illustrated and perfect for preschool through grade 2.
What a cute little hedgehog! This collection of short stories will delight young listeners, especially those who are as teeny weeny as Beanie. Adorable illustrations show how interesting life can be in the unpeopled places where hedgehogs and their neighbors make their home.
This book is the CUTEST! We call our family dog “Bean”, so when I saw this on the shelf at the Library, I knew we had to read it. The art is beautiful and cozy. The stories are funny and sweet. It reminds me of a younger audience version of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse.
This sweet gentle book is made up of very short stories about the adventures of 2 hedgehogs, little Bean and her grandma. My favorite story in this compilation is “Swing Bean” as it made me laugh out loud. I look forward to more books about Bean.
Absolutely delightful collection of short stories for beginning readers, these stories about a little Hedgehog and her grandma are endearing. This book is reminiscent of the Frog and Toad or Little Bear stories.
Solid new picture book series in the same vein as Our Friend Hedgehog. That kind of cute and cozy art mixed with simple everyday stories about Bean the hedgehog and grandma.
