Book Review: Festive Sommer – A Nora Sommer Caribbean Mystery Thriller
In Festive Sommer, writer Nicholas Harvey takes readers on an exhilarating ride through the sun-soaked streets of Grand Cayman. Set during the Christmas holiday season, this novel delivers a unique blend of festive charm and high-stakes thrills, creating a striking contrast between the warmth of the island and the mysterious ill will towards a visiting book author releasing her new book with a group of her adoring fans aboard a luxurious yacht. At the center of the action is Nora Sommer, a feisty and determined Norwegian constable juggling her duties as a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service constable and the foster parent of a young Caymanian teenager.
Festive Sommer is a true page-turner, filled with breakneck pacing, witty dialogue, and unexpected twists. Harvey expertly weaves in the Christmas theme without letting it overwhelm the central mystery, using the holiday season to heighten the stakes and create a sense of urgency. The book’s roller-coaster plot keeps readers guessing, with its mix of action, suspense, and a few emotional moments.
For fans of fast-paced mysteries with a tough yet endearing female lead, Festive Sommer is a must-read. Nora Sommer’s tenacity, combined with the unique Caribbean setting, makes this a standout holiday thriller that will leave readers eager for more of her adventures.
This book truly lives up to the suspense genre! With Christmas right around the corner, Nora Sommers could use the overtime to get her daughter ( foster child) a gift, she volunteers for protective duty on a celebrity cruise for well known author L.R. and her beloved dog . Even though her dog looked mighty funny with his smashed in face and tongue that hung to one side, Nora saw the love between the author and the dog. How hard can it be to babysit an author when everyone on board loved her. It doesn’t take long for the suspense to start and turn to a thriller, with plenty of action, chases, head smashing and bloody noses. I loved this book so much and I caught myself holding my breath on several occasions. And when the victim is one of my favorite authors, it makes it even more intriguing because I really know and love the character! Great job Nicholas, this was a great surprise and definitely held my attention all the way through
Another fun, fast paced Nora Sommer adventure that will keep fans yearning for more. This is the seventh boook in the Nora series whch is an off shoot of the AJ Bailey series, all set in Greand Cayman. This one takes place over Christmas and involves a famous real life author on a book tour of the island. Nora is a young Norwegian woman who was rescued from the sex trade operation in the Caribbean as a teen, and is now working as a police constable. The way Harvey describes this "fish out of water" Nora is absolutely delightful. From her lack of familiarity with English expressions, to her general awkwardness around warm and friendly people, Nora is a young woman coming out of her damaged shell. What she does have though is a fierce loyaty and sense of right and wrong. This book may be the best yet. Can't wait for the next chapter in the development of Nora Sommers.
Norwegian Nora Sommer has responsibilities both as a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service constable and as the foster parent of a 15-year-old teenager ("Jazzy") in Grand Cayman of all places. It's the Christmas holiday, and Nora unfortunately gets assigned to provide security for author Lisa Regan on a yacht with a few of her avid readers. Publisher representative Barbara Mitchell is along for the ride, and author Lisa travels with her dog, Mr. Phillip. Sounds easy enough until Lisa's laptop goes mysteriously missing, and Lisa - for whatever crazy reason - has her new book on her laptop with no backup. All goes from bad to worse when Lisa also is nowhere to be found. So, Nora certainly has her constable hands full when she'd much rather be home with Jazzy for a relaxing Christmas holiday. I appreciated Nora's resourcefulness in getting the job done.
Yes, that's my professional view, and I am surprised by that for some reason. I've had a lot of painful months, forgetting the release date. I saw the notification of the charge, and my spirits lifted. Today has been my best day in a long time thanks to Nora and this wonderfully written escape. I'm not going to go into anything more...quit reading this and get to reading Festive Sommer! You'll be as happy you did as I am!
I have truly missed the Viking. This l book was absolutely fandamtistic and worth the wait. Loaded with lots of excitement, twists, turns and plenty of Nora humor. And... Who doesn't love a dog in the story. Nora seems to be listening to her superiors and her friends as Mr. Harvey takes you through the adventure. Could never anticipate the twists or the turns but Nora does what Nora does. Great lead in with the Forward by Lisa Regan. Just may have to pick up one of her books.
Nora's latest saga has her providing security for a visiting author, Lisa Regan. And, in her spare time chasing down members of the Bush gang. True to style, she encounters several situations in which she acts impulsively. I find reading the Nora Sommer novels to be entertaining. While trying to identify the villain as Nora puts the pieces together. Note: Lisa Regan is the author of the Josie Quinn crime series.

Love Miss Nora Sommer! One of the best characters I have ever read and a shear delight to ride along with as she goes about being a constable in the Caymans. Brilliant, determined, and so very Norwegian. I think Mr Harvey has a character that writes herself. Can’t wait to see what further adventures await.
Lots of action! There were moments that were over the top, but it was a very good story. Nora is charged with babysitting an author who has a new book out. Who knew this could be such a dangerous assignment! And the ‘author ‘ is one of my favorites!
I really enjoy all the Nora Sommer novels. This was one of the best. Love watching her evolve into a superior detective. Jazzy is a special added attraction. Anxious for the next one.
Mr. Harvey has hit another home run with a great adventure with Nora Sommer and the cast of the Cayman Islands law enforcement and diving community. I am looking forward to the next episode!
Festive Sommer is an excellent read. Nicholas Harvey did not disappoint on this seventh Nora Sommer novel. It has some exciting areas of suspense and action. I thoroughly enjoyed this remarkable book.

I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
I love this series. It’s almost Christmas and Nora has been tasked with protecting a writer at a new book release. She has also been chasing a couple of gang leaders/drug runners.
Fun, fast with an interesting twist. I am a big fan of Nora, she is such a unique character. And this storyline had a very fun plot. One of my favorite authors was featured in this book. What a creative story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
