Ranger Ridge, Montana is the picture perfect mountain town.
But Emmett Ranger fears something sinister is lurking in the shadows. One thing’s for certain though, it isn’t the beautiful stranger whose car has broken down on the side of the highway.
After a failed engagement, Millie Rushing is looking for somewhere to start fresh. And anywhere she isn’t the main source of town gossip will do. Ranger Ridge seems like the ideal place…until she arrives. From a disastrous encounter with the county sheriff, to a rundown rental property, Millie can’t shake the bad luck bug.
Circumstances thrust this unexpected pair together time and time again until the embers of dislike spark a flame of undeniable chemistry. But as their lives intertwine, someone is watching.
And it becomes startlingly clear that Emmett and Millie are in serious danger. Leaving them grappling with evil when destiny turns deadly.

╰┈➤ For a debut novel, this is nothing short of impressive! I was so engrossed that I finished it in one sitting. The slow burn romance and suspense are perfectly balanced. The main characters don’t come together until halfway through which really helps in building up a connection that feels genuine and well-developed. The suspense element is truly gripping. I was on edge trying to piece together the mystery and the addition of a "redacted" pov only heightened the tension. When the identity of "redacted" was finally revealed, it took me by complete surprise! After this book, I'm looking forward to reading more books by K. Knightly.
────୨ৎ──── Thank you to K.Knightly and Luna Literary for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
OMG! This book had me swooning and literally checking out my house to make sure no one was in before I went to bed 😂 I got to 40% and I actually couldn’t put it down!! I really enjoyed the style of writing in this book ( if you know me I am very particular on writing styles so this is a big win for me lol)! Emmett was a grumpy sheriff snd Millie was the sunshine new girl in town strapped with a stalker who did not wanna share her. I really enjoyed the spice to plot ratio in this book, the burn was slow & so worth it! Also the forced prox was chefs kiss. Really excited for book 2 😍

TROPES: 🚨 Romantic Suspense 🖤 Best Friend’s Brother 🚨 Dislike-to-Love 🖤 Small Town Romance 🚨 Ser!al K!ller/St@lker 🖤 Neighbors-to-Roommates 🚨 Forced Proximity 🖤 Slow Burn
“Millie Rushing,” he started. “I don’t remember who I was before we met, but I know he was a shell of the man before you today. You brought me back to life, honey.” -------------- Thank you Luna Literary and author K.Knightly for this arc!! There are not enough words to describe how much I LOVED this book. I started reading and COULD NOT STOP until I was done. I devoured this in one sitting.
I absolutely loved the main characters from the first moment we met them right on through to the epilogue. I especially loved that they didn't just meet and fall for one another immediately. And their progression from hostility to friendship and into love was just such a beautiful, natural progression.
I also REALLY enjoyed the friendship that formed between Millie and Emmett's two sisters, Greer and Rory. Such a great girl group that was so fun to read about.
The REDACTED chapters were my favorite!! They kept you hooked and wanting more as the suspense built and the crimes began to pile up.
Absolutely cannot wait to read more of this series and I HIGHLY recommend if you're a fan of the romantic suspense genre.
Time nor place existed for these characters. The overall story was good in theory, the execution was lacking as well as the rush that happened after the 50% mark.
1. The length of the story was also a sore spot. If the book is going to be this long, Emmett and Millie needed to communicate more and have actually on page conversations.
2. The stalker should have had more reason and a well executed plan for her as well as Millie should have been missing or taken longer than an hour.
3. Emmett acting like horny teenager which was insane for a man was that 30 something. Chapter 43 - “She reached for the bottle of wine, taking a sip then offering it to me. The idea of my mouth touching where hers just was sent a bolt of white hot electricity through me” - like what the fuck is this??
4. Millie not telling Emmett about the roses even after they’d become friends was a choice.
5. The package Millie received on Valentine’s Day. Why would you keep a package that you 1. said you didn’t get for yourself, 2. said your mom didn’t get for you 3. opened and realized the things inside was worn and was not yours and 4. not fucking report it to the police??
6. Communication was not had at any point. If they’d spoken after the friendship or even the sex, the dots from both sides could have been connected and mystery solved. This shouldn’t have had to happen after her car was vandalized.
7. The kidnapping happened and solved within an afternoon was not the markings of a seasoned stalker or killer. Millie should have been taken for at least 2 days for it to make sense for someone that had multiple victims.
8. Insta-love.
9. Bundle of nerves used to describe Millie’s clit had me rolling my eyes so hard I almost had a seizure. Chapter 43 - “Then my fingertips landed on the bundle of nerves I knew would have her seeing stars a thousand times brighter than those lighting up the Montana sky above us.”
10. Kissing at the most inappropriate times made it difficult to not judge the stupidity and horniness of the characters. Chapter 34 - “Her lids sprang open, and without thinking, I leaned down and brushed my lips across hers before pulling back” - she just escaped from a home invasion where she had to jump from her window, run through a forest, tripped and knocked herself unconscious, blood is everywhere on her and an ambulance is waiting to take her to the hospital and this is the moment you decide is appropriate for your first kiss with her??? Or by the end of that page his sister Greer had to be the one to get Emmett to let Millie go so the ambulance could take her away?
11. Lastly for a cop not even a normal cop but a sheriff, Emmett lacked the training and skills that come with the title. He made his feelings for Millie override his critical thinking on more than one occasion. Chapter 34 - “a pair of paramedics were there with a gurney urging me to lay Millie on it. One of them reached for her, and I growled, “Don’t touch her!” - like what do you mean sir? You called them for help, now they’re there to help and you don’t want them to help?? Make it make sense.

I was completely swept up in K. Knightly's captivating storytelling. This was my first introduction to Knightly's work, and I'm hooked!
From the opening "REDACTED" chapters, I was intrigued. The mysterious, censored pages expertly set the tone for a thrilling ride, filled with suspense and intrigue.
The sheriff x new girl romance dynamic sparked a fresh tension, keeping me eager for each interaction. But what truly stood out was the psychological edge - every new character brought unease, blurring the lines between romance and psychological thriller.
Knightly masterfully crafted suspense, keeping me on edge with every page. The story's immersive layers and slow-burning tension had me invested.
Emmett and Millie stole my heart. Their sexual tension simmered beautifully, and I appreciated the sensible age gap. Little jumps in time made their relationship feel realistic, avoiding insta-love clichés.
Knightly's writing is addictive, and I'm already craving more. Destined is a must-read for romance and suspense fans.
This book was a captivating blend of suspense, romance, and just the right amount of spice!
Emmett, the MMC, stole the show for me. He starts off with this tough, brooding exterior, but as the story unfolds, you see his softer, protective side shine through. The “touch her and die” vibes were chef’s kiss! He’s a total cinnamon roll wrapped in a tough shell, and I couldn’t get enough of him.
Millie, the FMC, is a force to be reckoned with. After her life completely falls apart, she doesn’t wallow—she rebuilds. Her resilience is inspiring, and you can’t help but cheer her on as she finds her footing.
The suspense element was top-notch, with clever red herrings and twists that kept me guessing until the end. It’s like the book whispered “classy stalker vibes” (in the best way) and then delivered. 🙃 Plus, while the romance is a slow burn, once the spice kicks in, it really spices!
This was an addictive read, and I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series. K. Knightly, you’ve got me hooked!
DESTINED by @ K. Knightly eARC • pub date: 11-15 I loved it!!
Let me just start off by saying I can’t believe this a debut!! I was hooked from the very first line and couldn’t put it down as I had to know what was going to happen.
Told in dual POV, we follow Emmett and Millie. Millie has just moved to a small town in Montana, where Emmett is the sheriff, in hopes of starting fresh. They get off on the wrong foot, but keep getting thrown together. As their feelings finally start to develop, Millie’s life is threatened by a serial unaliver/stalker.
I really need more romantic suspense books in my life! It is quickly becoming one of my favorite genres!

Thank you so much K. Knightly and Luna Literary for allowing to be a part of the ARC team! I loved it so much!
This book will be available on KU on 11/15 and I highly recommend it!
This was a slow burn, romantic suspense. I was on the edge of my seat during some scenes and constantly making guesses on what the outcome would be.
I loved how the POV/chapters were set up to include the two main characters along with the unknown person’s POV. I’m excited for the sneak peeks we got at possible couples in future stories and am excited to see where this series goes!
Thank you to K Knightly and Luna Literary Management for the early review copy!
I still can't believe this was a debut novel. It's such a good story with multiple layers to keep you intrigued. I loved the multiple POVs and short chapters that kept me continuously turning pages, needing to know what happened next! A quick, fun read, and I can't wait to learn more about these characters in the next book!
K. Knightly's debut gives everything I want in a novel. It was the perfect mix of romance, suspense and thriller for me. The way that Emmett and Millie despise each other from the start is golden. The two Ranger sisters are perfect side characters and have the perfect jobs, bakery and bookstore - need I say more?? I love that the bad guys name is 'Redacted' and you don't know who he is until late in the book. And of course the Extended Epilogue 😍
The writing in this is pretty clunky - so I'm only reviewing so that I can make sure not to download it again on Kindle Unlimited. The stalker element was also too much for me. Some light suspense in romance is ok but this seems like too much for me!
Five amazing stars!! I finished this book in less than 24 hours! It was the perfect combination of romance and suspense always keeping me on the edge of my seat! I fell in love with Emmett and Millie and cannot wait to see what other masterpieces this author writes!
What a debut! Romantic suspense, small town, with that edge of creepy stalker made Destined a great read. Millie was a strong, witty heroine along side of Emmett our do good kind of a jerk sheriff.
I really enjoyed the addition of our “redacted” POV. It added such a cool creepy vibe to a sweet love story. Honestly, I wanted a lot more of his creepiness. I think you’ve got a knack for dark romance here 👀
The action scenes held my at the edge of my seat, no cringe to the spice, and really had great small town mountain setting.
Thank you to the author and Luna Literary for the ARC copy. Congrats K for your first debut novel! Cannot wait to see where this series heads.
Such an amazing debut!!! I was hooked from the very beginning. The story is so captivating from the very start that I could not put it down!! I devoured it in less than a day. While it was super eerie, it was also soooo interesting to see the villains perfective in this romantic suspense!!!
The burn simmered until it was HOT HOT HOT. Phew!!
I absolutely loved Millie and Emmett!! From their roadside not-so-meet cute till the very end🥰 This book had be giggling, SWEAT👏ING👏 because I was so nervous and then completely swooning😍.

This debut novel was suspenseful, heartwarming, the ultimate slow burn with some sizzle!
I was immersed into this story right away with the prologue. As I was reading, it was almost like I was watching a thriller in my head waiting for the st@lker to show us what he would do next.
We enter Ranger Ridge, where we meet Millie Rushing, who's having car trouble, and who does she encounter? None other than Emmett Ranger, the county Sheriff.
Right away, you know something is off, and danger is lurking beneath the surface, just waiting to catch them when they least expect it.
From her car trouble, the property she was supposed to rent is in shambles, and the st@lker she doesn't know she has. At least she meets a cutie kittie who she names Jet.
The town takes her in as their own, mostly. The Sheriff can't take his eyes off the new resident. Will he be able to save her or will they both be swallowed by danger?
Absolutely LOVED this book. It was amazing. From the suspense to the little details and side characters, the lasagna scene IYKYK. Emmett Ranger is the ultimate book boyfriend. I enjoyed how he let Millie experience that slow and gentle type of love we all hope for.
Thank you so much to K. KNIGHTLY and Luna Literary for this beautiful arc!

I had the privilege of beta reading K.Knightly’s debut novel! I was in awe of her phenomenal story telling! This slow burn suspenseful romance really kept me on my toes. What I thought was super intriguing is there are 3 POVs..Millie, Emmett, and Redacted (being the bad guy). I thought that was such a fun and different way to approach the suspenseful side of this romance. We were able to be in the bad guys head.
Now let’s talk about Millie, I absolutely adored her. Her inner monologues had me chuckling and her humor is one of my favorite things about her. Emmett did not have a chance in hell not falling in love with her, even if he’s the grumpy sheriff. They were very drawn to each other despite the grumpy meet cute 🤣 Their relationship blossomed so beautifully throughout the book going from friends to lovers. And the spice we get is 🥵….hot tub iykyk
The side characters had such personality and brought in such an amazing found family dynamic! I am so excited to see where the rest of the series goes with this group of individuals!
well. that was some works on some paper (or my iPad in this case). for a book that was a romantic suspense, to have everything wrapped in basically a chapter? maybe half a chapter? fucking wild. i stuck through the lacklustre relationship due to the mystery aspect appealing to me. did not feel worth it. i almost DNF’ed at 70% and God, I wish I did. the spice wasn’t even worth it either.
I flew through this book, but admittedly didn't love it. The romantic suspense was done so well, and the small town atmosphere of Ranger Ridge felt so cosy and quaint, however the intense and eerie crimes were potted through the book perfectly, giving readers an equal amount of comfort and unease.
The story begins with Millie, who's running from her home county and her cheating ex-fiance. Her car breaks down on a lone highway- which is quite iconic to the story- until Ranger Ridge's own Sheriff, Emmet Ranger, begrudgingly comes to help her. From there they get off on the wrong foot, beginning an enemies to lovers romance. To start with I did find their blooming relationship bland and almost forced, but as Millie's stalker and possible suspect to other crimes gets more unhinged, Emmet shows his kinder, more realistically protective side. I enjoyed their cute moments and tension, and the few spice scenes were well written.
The POV's of 'Redacted' were unnerving, and definitely creepy. I did guess who it was from my list of two suspects, but it didn't take any enjoyment from the fast paced story. However, what irked me the most is the amount of time skips and information we miss due to them, a lot of times we're told rather than shown things only when it's relevant. I liked the other characters too, especially Greer and Rory, who are Emmet's sisters. I'm looking forward to getting a book about moody, introverted Greer and Emmet's best friend and bad boy fire rescuer Denvers.
The ending ties up pretty much everything for Emmet and Millie, leaving them with a cute happy ending showing how far they're healed and learnt to lean on someone from the help of each other.
Read this book, everyone! 'Destined', the debut novel from K. Knightly, is an electrifying start to what promises to be an amazing series. I feel like I've struck gold with all the incredible debut novels this year, and this one definitely shines bright.
From the very first page, I was completely hooked, eagerly turning each page to unravel the mystery at the heart of the story. K. Knightly masterfully weaves together romance and suspense, ensuring that neither element feels overshadowed. The narrative is compelling and well-crafted; I was so invested that I devoured it like a cookie monster devours cookies! The suspense kept me on my toes without detracting from the sizzling chemistry between Millie and Emmett.
The slow-burn romance, punctuated by an interesting first meeting, was wonderfully executed. It makes perfect sense that the characters don't dive straight into a whirlwind romance; instead, we get to enjoy their journey of friendship—sometimes teetering on kinship—that lays a strong foundation for their relationship. As a fan of the found family trope, I adored the bond between Millie and the Ranger sisters; they were a true family for her.
Watching Millie and Emmett's relationship evolve was nothing short of captivating. The tension built from their initial meeting to the book's conclusion was intense and realistic. Their chemistry? Absolutely 🔥!
K. Knightly has quickly earned a spot on my must-read author list, and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next in the Rangers Ridge County series. I’m brimming with excitement for the upcoming installments! Don't miss out—dive into 'Destined' now!
“While Montana’s crime rate ranked somewhere in the middle compared to other states, Ridge County’ was shockingly low. Which was exactly what made this particular grouping stand out—the sheer violent nature of them.” - This was an amazing first book. The talent K. Knightly has is phenomenal. She keeps you guessing and wanting to know how it ends! I’m blown away and can’t wait for more. - Millie Rushing is looking for a fresh start. She’s new to the Ranger Ridge town and feels it’s the perfect place to do just that. On her way in, she has made a pretty embarrassing first impression with the sheriff. Pretty quickly she makes friends with a couple of locals who owns a cafe. They both just so happened to be the sheriff’s sisters. Emmett Ranger is the town’s very handsome sheriff. He works hard to provide everyone with a peace of mind. That’s put to the test when he finds a strand of crimes in the usually safe town. They keep finding themselves in the same room. It’s hard to keep up disliking each other. Almost instantly Emmett finds himself very protective over his sisters’ best friend. But somethings stopping them every chance they get. Millie keeps feeling as if someone is after her. What will they do if they finally act on it? - I’m blown away with how amazing this book is. I’m super excited for book 2, I’m hoping to snag an ARC👀
This was such a good quick paced murder/stalker mystery with mixed in romance. It's been a minute since I've read a book like this and now I want more. Absolutely enjoyed it. I was honestly shocked by the reveal of the stalker. The whole time I thought I had it figured out. But I didn't, and honestly that's how I prefer it. Love a good twist I didn't see coming. Millie and Emmett were just cute. Especially once Emmett stopped being sir grumpy pants 🤣 That didn't last long though. Millie grew on him quickly. The way he took care of her was just the sweetest. And when things heated up between the two, he was anything, but sweet...😏 Perks of being a sheriff...having those handy dandy handcuffs at all times.
But really, the suspense of the unknown stalker/murderer and the romance between Millie and Emmett was just perfectly balanced in my opinion. Literally playing out like a movie in my head.
Oh my gosh and Jet, the cat. Ahhh seriously the best cat award goes to him for many reasons. You'll have to read to find out why. But he definitely earned his place quickly with Emmett because of that one particular night.
Couldn't get enough, highly recommend this.
Thank you K. Knightly and Luna Literary for the arc. 🫶🏻
First off, K. knightly, I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to chat all things Destined with you and then get my hands on an ARC (thank you Luna Literary Management for getting all of the arcs out to us)!! It has been a privilege to be alongside you during your debut novel journey!!
I was constantly amazed with each page. The plot, the swoon, the twists and suspense, all made for an incredible debut! Millie and Emmett were such a brilliant pairing, I loved that their “meet cute” was not so cute and that despite all their rough interactions the genuine feelings they had still broke through into friendship and then more😍 She also did an amazing job twisting the intense suspense in with the beautiful romance and adding in such genuine friendships with other characters as well!
Speaking of other characters, Greer and Rory were two of my absolute favorite side characters 🥰 their immediate acceptance and friendship for Millie was what we all want and need! I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series brings them and you know I’ll be auto-buying everything from here on out!!
Such an amazing debut! I was hooked from the first page and basically read it in one sitting. The writing was amazing. This was probably one of the best romantic suspense I’ve read! I really enjoyed the Redacted chapters!! It made me want to know who it was so badly! I absolutely LOVED Millie and Emmett! From the start when they couldn’t stand each other then to Emmett’s protectiveness over Millie. I was so happy when Millie started to let Emmett in and trust him and lean on him. I just ate up their relationship and their journey! The chemistry was amazing! I also love enjoyed the friendship Millie built with Emmett’s sisters, it was so sweet! I can’t wait to learn more about Greer and Rory! I was picking up on possible romance for one of the sisters and I’m all about it.

Why is no one talking about this book? I REPEAT, why is no one talking about this book? For a debut novel, I am blown away. If you love a romantic suspense that will have you guessing who, what, when, where and why, then this is the book for you.
I was immediately HOOKED from the prologue. Why you ask? Because the POV is from "redacted" which is important because throughout this whole book, K. Knightly will have you guessing who redacted is. And if you know me, you know that I go straight feral for any book that will have me putting together the pieces to the book puzzle. And this book, had me guess from page 1, which means I straight DEVOURED this book.
As for Emmett and Millie, I loved them. Emmett is a broody, grumpy and overly protective sheriff. Millie, she is new in town. Millie and Emmett got off on the wrong foot, but their tension was thick. But be prepared, this is a SLOW BURN. Although, I didn't mind it because the plot sucked me in and that's what I was here.
At the end of the day, I highly recommend this book! If you are also a lover of romantic suspenses, then I do believe you will love this one.
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Romantic Suspense - Slow Burn - Stalker - Heroine Starting Over - Small Town - Police Officer MMC - Best Friend's Brother - Dislike to Love - Roommates - Forced Proximity
K. Knightly NAILED her debut, Destined, and I loved it SO MUCH. Some of my all time favorite reads are a mix of romance and suspense and this book nails it.
She does an incredible job weaving through the two main character POVs, along with mixing in the serial k!ller/stalker “redacted” POV.. so as a reader, we also don’t know who the bad guy is. It was so well done and had me so intrigued and turning page after page.
I loved the sheriff x new girl in town dynamic, and it was a perfectly crafted slow burn. Knightly made the slow burn flow beautifully on page, and it felt genuine and authentic. Both the romance and the suspense flowed both separately and together, and as the storylines started weaving into each other more and more towards the end, the story really ramped up.
The side characters were all so pleasant and enjoyable too, and left me wanting more! I’m very excited to see their stories told as well in future books in this series.
Destined, book 1 in The Rangers of Ridge County comes out 11/15 and I am so honored and thankful to have had the opportunity to ARC read this for K. Knightly!
DESTINED by @ K. Knightly • eARC • pub date: 11/15 HUGE thank you to author K. Knightly and Luna Literary for having me as part of the ARC team!
I was hooked by this book from the very first page! It blows my mind that this is K. Knightly's debut novel. This has also proven to me that romantic suspense is a genre I have been completely sleeping on and I'm now determined to pick up more of!
Destined takes place in Ranger Ridge, Montana and follows Emmett, the town sheriff, and Millie, the new to town resident looking for a fresh start. Introductions are rough but as the story progresses, attraction sparks and feelings deepen. Amidst the blossoming love story is an outside threat from a serial unaliver/stalker whom Millie caught the eye of as she blew into town. A threat that can end Millie's bright new beginning before it really takes off.

Ah!!! This. Book. I’m obsessed. My mind was blown when I found out this was a debut novel. I was hooked from the very beginning & will be diving into book two the moment it’s released.
Destined comes off as a small town romance but it is so much more. It’s the perfect combination of a slow burn romance & and thriller. This story is told mostly in a dual POV but there are redacted chapters throughout that give it quite the ominous feel.
Millie has been through a lot lately. While trying to get far from her unfortunate last heart break, she stumbles upon the cute town of Ranger Ridge. What could go wrong? Car trouble? A grumpy sheriff? Oh and let’s throw a serial k*ller/st@lker into the mix. I loved Millie & Emmett, and not to forget Jet the cat, the true ✨hero✨of the story.
Thank you so much to K. Knightly & Luna Literacy for letting me be a member of this ARC team in exchange for my honest review.

Dare I say this is the best book I’ve read all year? Yes, I think so! 🖤
Millie is new to a small town in Montana. Emmett is the town sheriff, who everyone adores- expect for the new resident Millie- who he can’t seem to be nice to. 👀 However, under less than ideal circumstances, these two end up living under the same roof. Can these roommates figure out what’s been haunting the town or will everything come burning down? 🔥
I am usually not a huge fan of slow burns. Mainly because it seems like everything is slow & then the last half of the book is just spice & there’s no more actual story to it. However, this book did not do that. This book didn’t disappoint me in any way! Even with it being a low burn, the story to it, is just SO GOOD. You get drawn in and you stay that way. These spice, banter, mystery, suspense. Everything an amazing book needs. I cannot wait to read more from this author. You WONT regret reading this book!
