Mysterious man, Ethan Lavender is involved in a series of so-called miracles and is wooed by conman, Jake Randolph, whose intent it is to dupe the public. Father Driscoll pursues Ethan, along with journalist Pamela Hutchins; their intentions differing. After worldwide publicity, the Church and various religious leaders attempt to thwart the man who claims he can heal the sick. Ethan alleges he is visited by Moroni, an apparent holy vision. Gangster, Abdul Rahim sees the financial potential and pursues Ethan to India and Africa, where his cult is thriving. A series of macabre deaths follow Ethan in his quest. Is he really heaven sent, or is he a servant of evil? A frightening tale of deceit, treachery and dishonour. Not for the faint-hearted.
I am an author and live in the north east of England. After working thirty-two years as a steelworker, I retired early to concentrate on writing. I have been writing approximately eighteen years and have written and published thirty-four novels and over fifty short stories. My main genre is psychological thrillers and horror, but I have published a biography of a late friend and a war novel concerning the Holocaust. My impatience with the mainstream publishers and my former publishers folding prompted me to self publish. i have rewritten and republished my books with KDP in 2022 and 2023. When purchasing, I would advise the latter editions. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.
I discovered this author a few months ago and I must say I am thrilled I did. In, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Ethan Lavender is a special young man, special in that he performs miracles. He has an interesting background, being raised by nuns and then going out into the big wide world where he meets up with a conman and others out to use him. Hulse manages to lace each page with suspense, drama and mystery. I was captivated by the story from the start and held to the end. I am now starting on another of this fine author's books and I am confident I shall not be diappointed with my next choice either.
Anthony Hulse. Hallowed be thy Name. Superb. Ethan is hailed as a mystery hero, to some and a fake to others. When conman Jake tags on to Ethan they start to con the public my stage managing different senarios and starting a cult following. They travel to Africa as well as many other places preaching and conning followers out of millions of pounds. This is a fast moving story that had me hooked from page 1. An easy to read book that is well worthy of 5* 10 September 2016.
At first I didn't know what to think, judging by the name and the cover. Was this a religious tome? Fortunately, the author's description set me straight. It is another great thriller by Anthony Hulse. Like he said, "Not for the faint of heart." The author places a faith healer at the center of the intrigue.
Anyone expecting to read a run of the mill thriller will be pleasantly surprised by this excellent book. Wonderful plot, superb dialogue and a host of intriguing characters guarantee this as a page turner. The conclusion of this story certainly surprised and shocked me. Brilliant!
Like the other books that I've read by this author, this one moves along very well, has great characters, and is well-written. It stretches the reader's belief a little, with the miracles, the thriving cult in an isolated part of Africa, and unexpected savage killings. Catholicism in general appears to be no better than the local circus, but it's all very entertaining.
I'm not sure how serious I was supposed to take this book. It reminded me a bit of a bad horror movie, especially towards the end. Also, the characters weren't very consistent, their personalities fluctuating dramatically. I know this was self-published and most likely self-edited, but I really have to point out how bad the grammar was (as in commas used incorrectly, spelling mistakes, and quotations misplaced often). If this book hadn't been given to me in a Reading Challenge, I would have stopped halfway through and not even finished it. As it is, I am actually glad I made it to the end because I got a good laugh out of it.
