This is the 2nd book in the series and should be read in order
After finding out that Cole and Mason kept the truth about who they are from Lacey and Roxie, Lacey isn’t sure she can trust Cole again. Cole goes out of his way to prove that he never meant to hurt her. After some convincing Lacey gives in and listens to what Cole has to say. Roxie on the other hand gives Mason the chance to explain and see why he did what he did. The only problem is that Roxie is not only in love with Mason but she is pretty sure that her feelings for Lacey are more than just friendship. How can one person love two different people? This leaves Roxie confused and hurting. Unable to deal with her feeling for both Lacey and Mason, Roxie makes a series of mistake that could cost her and Lacey everything.
Lacey is left feeling hurt and betrayed by Cole, so she does what she can to protect her heart from being broken even more. When she finally lets Roxie help her out, she finds Cole at her door. She may be the easygoing, fun loving girl Cole fell for but trust is a big thing for her. The lifestyle rockers are known to have isn’t something she wanted for herself. Lacey does give Cole a change to explain and sees things from his point of view.
Cole was devastated when Lacey shut him out. She was the only woman who ever saw him and not who he is to the world. He cherished the fact that their relationship was the most honest one he’s had. He knows what he has and wanted to do everything to protect it. Cole isn’t stupid, Lacey is an attractive woman and part of him wanted the world to know that she belonged to him. Fighting for her wasn’t an option, as he couldn’t live without her in his life. He loved her and wanted a life with her.
Mason was pissed that Cole kept putting off telling the girls who they really are. He was just happy that Roxie gave him a chance to explain and understood why they did what they did. He was also happy that she helped out his older brother with Lacey. Now that he has Roxie where he wants her he doesn’t want to let her go. He even puts up with some of the crap she dishes out and doesn’t push her. Seeing she isn’t happy and not being able to do anything about it is killing him but he knows she’ll tell him in her own time.
Roxie’s has her own dilemma to deal with. How does one person love two totally different people and does she love them or is it something else? Seeing Lacey with Cole hurts Roxie but then Mason comes and she forgets that she was hurting. Mason makes her feel things she’s never felt before and she finds herself falling for him. Roxie uses alcohol to numb her pain but that only seems to get her in more trouble. After making one stupid mistake, she ends up paying for it. The band and Lacey are concerned about her drinking but if Roxie comes clean and tells them what she did she risks losing both Mason and Lacey for good.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. The continuation of the Roxie, Mason, Cole and Lacey’s story just kept getting better. The fact that Cole and Mason hid their true identity from the girls came out and Cole had to work to get Lacey to forgive him. Lacey didn’t like being betrayed like that and wanted Cole to prove that there was much more going on between them like she thought there was. Cole and Lacey’s part of the story had me on the edge of my seat and reading to all hours in the morning. I had to know who did what and how this affects their relationship. Just when the readers thought things were going smoothly another twist was thrown at them. Roxie’s story is the most dominant in this book and I felt for the character. She’s in love with a man and a woman and doesn’t know how to deal with it. The way she reacted is very typical of how most people would react. It’s easier to drink your pain away so you don’t feel it rather than deal with. This gets Roxie in all kinds of trouble. When she finally comes clean, I’m proud of how everyone reacts to it. Mason defends her honor and takes the news better than most. Of course Roxie is in bad shape but she takes the steps she needs to get better. This isn’t the end of the story for the couples and I’m dying to find out what happens next. K. T. Fisher has another hit rock star series that is a must read in my books!!!
