I'm Jessica Louise Smith and, like my protagonist Evie Stone, I'm from the rural county of Herefordshire - famous for cider and bulls. That isn't where the similarities end; I also lost my long-term, on-off-on-off-on-again boyfriend, Malcolm McClure, in a biking accident when he was just twenty-four years old. Hence Godcorp was born.

After Malcolm died the questions that plague Evie were the ones that haunted me. Where had he gone? Why? How could I get him back? I'd never felt anything like it - the gut-wrenching pain and absolute, world-crashing, everything-I've-ever-known-is-wrong disbelief. I couldn't accept he was gone. Everything screamed: `Mistake!` I began to wonder about the reality of the afterlife and Heaven. I mean, think about it, such an operation would have to be immense, and what kind of organisation that big never makes mistakes? The idea of Heaven as a massive corporate and Evie Stone's quest to bring Malcolm back home was born.

Outside of being a writer I work, as Evie does, for a specialist IT sales agency. I sell business analytics solutions into the major UK banks and retailers, and have always had the jammiest streak in the world. It serves me well.

I'm also a qualified NLP practitioner, Reiki Master and I've got the highest score on Bop-it of anyone I know. I got through to the screen test for BBC's The Apprentice a few years back and am now glad I didn't make it, as I'd never have written Godcorp.

I'd say the book is my biggest achievement. It's just a shame Malcolm will never read it.

The Godcorp synopsis made the book stand out to me when a Review Tour email popped in my inbox, so thanks to the author and tour host for giving me the chance to read it.

This is an honest review and I have to say I was engrossed, and although I had a niggling feeling on my shoulder (must have been the good conscience angel sat there poking me) I began to hope that Lucius Devlin (The Devil himself) would get the Gal... the Gal in question is Evie, now there is a determined woman! but I will get to the characters in a moment.

Now first lets start with the premise of this story - its a paranormal tale of Heaven, Hell and Fate, and it was a refreshing change of vision for Heaven and Hell, I quite like this version actually and it reminded me a little of my favourite tv show Supernatural, in fact Castiel in his trench coat stood being reprimanded by that HR Angel biatch flashed into my head as GodCorp was described. Naomi's Office

When Malcom Evie's long time on-again, off-again boyfriend is killed in a motorbike accident, she is devastated, but she has this niggling feeling in her gut (there go those niggles!) that its a mistake, that he shouldn't be dead.

She can't let this feeling go so she embarks on a mission to contact god... she tries the church, mediums and and GOOGLE (and of course she has more success with the latter, because as you know Google knows everything LOL)

Now lets get onto Evie, as I said she is a determined lady, she is a successful Sales Manager, in fact what ever brand she touches turns to Gold... and it seems that our Lovely Evie is a MIDAS, Her boss had plucked her from obscurity and now she was the girl with the golden touch and everyone wanted her to look after their accounts.

Obviously after Malcom's death she is not really focused on her job, but a chance meeting with a potential new client brings her an unexpected lead on her quest.

Businessman Lucius Devlin drops a few clues about a mysterious Godcorp. Who is Godcorp you may ask - well apparently heaven was rebranded in 1999 and its even got a website and a call centre!!! (picture me googling godcorp at a certain point in the books beginning...yep I kid you not!)

Now let me get onto the other lead character...Lucius Devlin - well how would I describe him, well he is HAWT!!!!
Imagine sexy Ian Somerhalder

The sexy, suave, panty melting man is actually the ultimate fallen angel, yep good old Morning Star, the Devil himself, although he now goes by the more modern Moniker of Lucius rather than Lucifer. And he has set his sights on Evie, he tries to head hunt her for his business, and his bed!

The Dark lord has a thing for old Evie and he offers to help her on her quest, to show her he is not as all the "Media" make him out to be. (he does a good job too, because I was like HELL YEAH!) Jessica Smith has done a great job with Lucius, he is such a multi faceted character, on the one hand he comes across as kind and considerate a good boss to his employees, but then on the other hand his business dealings show him to be the ruthless cutthroat Devil you expect him to be. I know for sure that by the end of the book I was shocked and was wanting to grab a hold of book 2 ASAP to find out what exactly will happen next!!!!

To finish off I just want to say that I loved this book and I laughed and cried along with Eive and I really will be getting Book 2 as soon as My TBR gives me the space to read it (I may just sneak it in next month!)

The characters come alive, and I loved the 'Prophets' (you will just have to read the book - I don't want to spoil the enjoyment for you)
The way Jessica has described Godcorp and the Upgrade of Heaven & Hell into the 21st century intrigued me. I loved the way that she brings in the Corporate world into the way they are run now.

This is a gem of a book and I would recommend it to all Paranormal/fantasy readers, but it is a series and ends in a cliffhanger and I now have more questions - but heck Book 2 is there ready and waiting so the pain was lessened.

Its a novel idea to have the Devil as the romantic lead male, but Jessica has done a fabulous job. and when I read her Author Bio on her Amazon page, I realized why this story has such Heart and soul... I love an author who isn't afraid of putting part of herself in her work, and I will be keeping an eye out on all her future works too.

I know that this book will be a Favourite Read of this year.

A fabulous book - worth every one of it's five golden shiney stars and then some! Godcorp is the story of Evie Stone and her utter, absolute and overwhelming grief when her boyfriend, Malcolm, is killed in an untimely motorbike accident. It's a mistake - a colossal one - she wants him back and if there's one thing Evie is, it's determined! She is thrown a line - literally - the hotline to Godcorp but, as with all these big organisations, can she get through, actually speak to someone? No, she bloody can't. She then becomes intwined with business mogul Lucius Devlin who also says he can help her in her quest to bring Malcolm back, that's when she starts playing with fire - literally. You're going to have to read the book to find out more, I'm not one to give away plot lines but believe me when I say you are so going to want to read this book! The writing is fresh, it's young and it's exciting, the idea itself - heaven and hell as giant corporations is genius. And the characters? Well, when Lucius is on the page it sizzles, he is one naughty, naughty devil! The chemistry between him and Evie is almost tangible - actually, there's no 'almost' about it. And then there are the Prophets - 3 hilarious characters that provide some much needed light relief in amongst the angst. But, as funny and as clever as the book is, there are also serious undertones regarding religion and philosophy - most notably, who's to say who's right or wrong - it's really a matter of perspective. And perhaps there are shades of light and dark in everyone, including such notable deities as God and the devil. In short, I loved this book so much, I asked the author for the sequel (both coming soon) and devoured that too - it's every bit as brilliant as the first. I now have a book hangover until No.3 comes along!

Godcorp has an unique storyline, a story with different perspectives between heaven and hell. This book will not disappoint!!

Evie's on and off again boyfriend Malcolm passes away after he's tragically involved in a motorbike accident. Evie's convinced he died by mistake and is determined to get him back. Evie's consumed by grief but when she meets Mr Lucius Devlin, he gives her a business card with godcorp.com written on it and tells her, there might be away contacting god. Evie thinks she can see the light at the end of a tunnel.

Lucius Delvin is Hot and knows what he wants and he wants Evie, he's willing to to anything to get her including helping her bring Malcolm back but is Lucius all he seems? Has he got his own reasons to get close to Evie?

Can't wait to read book 2!!

From the minute I was told about this book I knew I'd love it and it didn't disappoint. Pitched just at the right side of tongue in cheek it grabs you and pulls you into Evie Stones sometimes warped mind and takes you on a journey from the corporate sales world, through rural Herefordshire, into the realms of Heaven and ends with the Devil firmly by your side. If you liked Fifty Shades you'll love Godcorp even more, Lucius Devlin has no hard limits and you'll be glad he hasn't. I found it completely absorbing and even found myself wondering if it really was possible to drop God an email or call him from my mobile. Definitely one to watch, can't wait for book 2.

Wow! Just Wow! I started out crying with Evie in the book and feeling every emotion with her. Then I got sucked in and loving every minute of her quest to get back the man she loves while falling in love with the Devil himself. Lucius Devlin is a man who knows what he wants and gets what he wants, no matter what. He wants Evie Stone and will do what he has to to have her. I could not put this book down!! It is well written and gives a whole different perspective of Heaven and Hell! I LOVED it! Plus it helps that the Devil is a hot billionaire!! A must read!

Absolutely loved this!!! Godcorp had me hooked from the very beginning. It's emotional, intense, and undeniably fantastic. The author, Jessica Smith, does a fantastic job with this novel. Her writing is amazing, the story line is a one of a kind, and her characters are unforgettable. I just love Lucius Devlin, one of the main characters, and I look forward to visiting with him more in Godcorp 2. I would not only give this more than five stars if I could but I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Godcorp is a unique book that stands out with its well thought out plot, back story and characters. I mean, where else would you find the Devil as a possible love interest?

When Evie's on-again, off-again boyfriend is killed in a freak accident, she is convinced that he was taken before his time. She consults with the church, psychics and anywhere else she can think of to get the answers that she needs. The mysterious Lucius Devlin points her in the direction of the even more mysterious Godcorp.

Evie has the Midas touch but as she continues to seek the truth, her life starts to fall down around her as her focus slips. As she delves deeper into her investigation of Godcorp, she finds that it is heaven rebranded and it has a website and a call centre.

Lucius Devlin is temptation; sexy, hot and the devil incarnate. He wants Evie for his own company and for himself, having fallen for her big time. But what happens when the Devil wants you and claims you for himself?

Evie's persistence and single-mindedness is the reason that she gets as far as she does but at great personal cost. While she also falls for Lucius she is also still love with her deceased boyfriend. Who will she ultimately choose?

Lucius is a character of contrasts. He appears to be kind and considerate to Evie's needs and providing her with the tools she needs to get the answers that she wants. On the other, his past and his business dealings show him to be completely driven and selfish in his actions. There is certainly more to Lucius than meets the eye and his actions should not be taken at face value, after he is the Devil.

I loved this story, pure and simple. It deals with a difficult subject in a sensitive way and looks at the questions people ask themselves when they lose a loved one. The characters are all so vivid and just jump off the page at you and suck you into the story. The history of Godcorp and the Devil were fascinating to read and brought the belief of heaven and hell into the 21st Century. The story is unique and stands head and shoulders above the majority of books around at the moment. With its conclusion leaving lots more questions still unanswered, I can't wait to read the second instalment. Watching the Devil fall in love is a new one for me!

This is just to tell you what got me to read Godcorp. I normally go for books by authors I already know. i used to be afraid of reading other authors books worried that they wouldn't meet my expectations. Jessica Smith's cover for Godcorp caught my attention. I wanted to know more about it. I attended an author takeover from her and I liked the teasers she had provided.

To get to the point. I highly recommend Godcorp. I fell in love not just with the cover, but whit Evie. Don't get me wrong there where times that I wanted to slap her, but overall she was a great character to read and relate to. I don't think that I should tell you the synopsis but to give you some detail on it here it is. Evie was waiting for her on again of again boyfriend when she got the news that would change her life forever. She meets Lucius Devlin who guides her in the direction of Godcorp in order to get her boyfriend back. Lucius Devlin is not what she thought he was which makes the story even more interesting. Jessica totally had me in an emotional roller coaster. I was sobbing my eyes out and laughing at the funny moments. There where times I wanted to scream because the situation called for it. I was getting desperate to find out how this was going to end. I had to put the book down because of personal issues, but other than that i would have pulled an all nighter. This book is a definitely a must read.

Get ready girls because Lucius Devlin is coming and Oh My God! is he bringing his sinister sexy smile with him. You know that he has something planned further than what he actually says. I fell in love with him. And boy do i want taste his different flavors. But starting with vanilla is Okay too. I repeat Godcorp will have you in a high and low roller coaster ride. AWESOMESAUCE JESSICA SMITH. You have me hooked

I was gifted this book for an honest review and all i can say is that i loved it!
This is quite a different book to and i've read before and it had me hooked from start to finish. Evie Stone's ex boyfriend, at the time, suffers a road accident on his way to meet her and ends up dead. He was supposed to meet her as he had an important secret to tell her but she never learns what it is. Evie feels deep down there is a terrible mistake, and having always trusted her instincts, she finds herself meeting different people and doing things that may question her sanity to try to bring Malcolm back.
In walks Lucius Devlin, who is perfect in every way and wants to poach her from her place of work to work for him. He helps her in every way he can, or so it seems, to get Malcolm back.
Without giving it all away i can honestly say i never thought i would be 'rooting' for the Devil (Lucius) to win! There a lot of twists and turns that you really don't see coming and had me completely captivated in the story.
There is a lot of humour in this book, a lot of it had me laughing out loud, Barry was brilliantly funny! There was definitely a lot of intense emotions in this too and had me on the edge of my seat a lot!
I can honestly say i loved this book, it was a completely different story to anything i have read before and highly recommend it! Even though it did conclude i would love another book about Evie, Lucius and all the great characters and would love to know what Malcolm's secret was! lol

If you are fan of Ian Somerhalder,You will love it. If you love paranormal romance You will love it.If you love a great story with an interesting plot you will love it. It's that kind of a book where you think this can't happen but yeah it did. This book is beautifully written telling a story of Evie who wants her boyfriend aka ex boyfriend back to life. She has a gut feeling that it was a mistake. Early in the story I was frustrated and angry with her. I could understand her pain. I know how it must have felt but she went to an extreme but the story which happened next changed my opinion. SO yeah this book is a kind of book what you believed in the starting it will change it in the end. It's like a drug which will keep you holding on to it. Enters Devlin and the story is gone Devil! Oh my It was a fantastic book. A devil so charming his words so touching that you wouldn't care who you are! It was fun to know him. The chemistry between Evie and him was electrifying. I was like leave your ex and marry this guy!! DO you like books with surprises ? Do you like books where you don't know what's happening next ? This book is yours! This is a fantastic debut by Jessica Smith!!

So this is the first book I have read by Jessica and let me tell you I was not disappointed. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat the whole entire book!!! I felt so bad for what happened with Malcolm in the beginning that started this journey for Evie. My heart broke with her and at times I felt like she was completely insane while also pulling for her to get her answers. And Lucius what can I can about him?? There really are no words.. He is something else that's for sure. This is one of those books where you want it to go one way the way things should be but then again you are crossing your fingers that it ends another way. There were many moments in the book that left my mouth literally hanging open all the way up until the very end!!! I should say I was surprised but I really wasn't lol not in a bad way you just have to read the book to really understand. And I highly recommend this book. I am starting the second one ASAP!!!!!

Godcorp is the first book in a series about Lucius Devlin and Evie Stone. The story is hard to categorise, in some places it is sad and moving, anyone who has experienced real grief will be able to empathise with Evie and her loss. In other places it is laugh out loud funny, and in others still, it is thought provoking and cheekily philosophical. One thing is for sure, it will take you in directions you never thought you would go before picking it up. Highly recommended!

It was different from what I was use to reading,as I began reading it I got more and more into the book. It made me question about heaven and hell, I love the way it was brought into the 21st century. I felt so sad for Evie and Malcolm, I love how she was not willing to let him go. I loved how the devil was portrayed. It was better than I expected. I'm about to finish book 2

OMG this book will grab hold of you, pull you in completely and won't let you go. The pain, heartache and humiliation that Evie goes through throughout the story was enough to break anyone but she is strong and determined to fight for what she knows to be right. Totally recommend this book.

Before choosing a book to read I will typically go through the following ritual:

1. Find books in the same genre in which I write (this is important)
2. Find covers that are aesthetically appealing, that look interesting or pretty
3. Read the title of the book; this is sometimes interchangeable with step 2
4. Read the blurb and ask myself if I want to spend hours with it

I did none of that this time when selecting Godcorp. In many ways it was selected for me, and for that I am grateful because I was more than pleasantly surprised by the pages within! This despite hesitation about the book’s title. What kind of name is “Godcorp” anyway? But I was told it was an interesting take on the heaven/hell plot and since I’d never read one of those (but was considering writing one myself), I dived in head first.

My first thought was that I hoped God was a woman in this iteration. That would have been great in another story, but wasn’t exactly the kind of story I was getting myself into with “Godcorp”. Let me give you a blurb of my own:

Malcolm is on his way to meet the girl who is, for all intents and purposes, the love of his life. Evie. They’ve had their ups and downs throughout the years; after all they have known each other since they were young teens. They go through the cycle of breaking up and making up, and it was time for the making up, with the added bonus of some huge secret Malcolm had to share with Evie. Unfortunately Malcolm never makes it, as he is involved in a vehicular accident and dies. That’s the prologue. It’s kind of written in a chirpy way, meaning somewhat funny. So I don’t feel incredibly bad for him at first because I get the sense that he’ll be back in some way.

Flip the page and we meet Evie, who has the Midas touch when it comes to her job, which in this story is sales. She can sell you anything. I’m still not quite sure what she actually does as a job, because sometimes it reads as if she’s in sales and sometimes it reads as if she’s in marketing. I know those two can go hand-in-hand sometimes, but the way it was described was at times vague on the part of the author, although kudos to her for attempting. When we meet Evie it is the day of Malcolm’s accident a few hours prior. There is a brief email exchange where she tries to get him to reveal what the big secret he has to share with her is, but he won’t budge. I guess her Midas touch doesn’t work via email on her boyfriend of 10+ years. Evie reiterates and expands on the dynamic of her relationship with Malcolm, and it sets the scene for the impending heartbreak of finding out that Malcolm has died.

After the relationship has been established, but before Evie finds out that Malcolm is dead, we are introduced more to Evie’s work environment and her boss, Maxwell, and Maxwell’s wife, Janine, who are both colorful and crazy from the get-go.

Maxwell informs Evie (with the help of his wife and half the office all crammed into Evie’s office) that superstar businessman Lucius Devlin has requested a meeting with her.

Of course Mr. Devil is handsome. This is that kind of book. It’s not enough that he’s handsome though – no – he has to be the most handsome of all the handsomest handsome men in the universe. I get it, I do the same thing in my books. Nobody wants to read about the just-okay guy with monster personality if not monster looks. Malcolm has monster personality and he dies in the closing lines of the prologue. Case closed.

Bloated John Travolta (this is sort of how the author describes Evie's boss, and it's amazing) insists she start to get to work immediately and she has enough leeway to tell him that she needs the night off but will be in first thing in the morning to nail it to the ground. (You know, for a story with so many biblical references, perhaps the nailing part is a bit too apropos). Of course that never happens, because she never gets to see Malcolm that night (or find out what his secret was), and spends the next two weeks sliding into the oblivion of despair and loss. Can you blame her?

“… but from that point onwards I couldn’t help but notice a switch had been flicked for the rest of the world. Funeral done, life goes on.”

Her companion throughout her grief is Ed, an ancillary character you needn’t get too comfortable with because his only purpose is to have “strong arms” (every time he hugs her its with this “strong arms”) and eventually try to perform a kind of intervention-slash-5150 of Evie. But I’ll get to that in a bit.

Evie is understandably devastated and it’s the pricks at work who are trying to get her to come back to work to have the meeting with the famed Mr. Devil, Evie’s bereavement be damned. Now, this is an area where I take issue, and I continue to take issue throughout a lot of the first third of the book. I understand completely that Evie is monumentally shaken to the core by the loss of Malcolm. Anyone would be. But despite the establishment of relationship via character thoughts in the first few chapters, I’m not really feeling that connected to Malcolm and Evie as a couple, and perhaps that is by design. Her grief is too severe. They weren’t married, and in fact that weren’t even together at the time. That doesn’t mean her pain is any less because their relationship wasn’t more, but it somehow doesn’t feel as significant as to render her essentially crazy. Again, that may be design.

Evie comes back to work reality for the ever-important meeting with Mr. Devil, and of course he’s even more handsome in person. Can’t say the same for his right-hand man though.

His name is Barry. Which seems like a totally innocuous name but just you wait!

The meeting doesn’t go that well, to be honest. Mr. Devil tells Bloated John Travolta and his wife (who has major crazy eyes for Mr. Devil) to leave him with Evie, and when he is alone with her she tells him about Malcolm and that it has to be a mistake; Malcolm is supposed to be with her and she’s going to do whatever she can to bring him back.

This, readers, is where you must abandon your logic, because Evie certainly has. I don’t mean that in a bad way. There are many stories where you are required to suspend disbelief and abandon rationality in order to gain entrance to something worth giving those things up for. You can draw your own conclusion as to whether Godcorp is worth all of that effort.

Mr. Devil mumbles something about such and such a planet in retrograde (what does that even mean?!) and says that she’s right, it must be some kind of mistake and good luck to her on getting him back.

Just so we’re clear… she wants to bring her dead ex-boyfriend back to life. Only now am I realizing how utterly selfish her quest is. She knows in her heart that her future path is entwined with Malcolm’s, and that it must be a mistake because where is her life supposed to go now? But never once does she consider what other people might want. People like Malcolm’s parents, who would probably shit their pants (pardon my French) if their dead son came back to life, reanimated and everything.

Mr. Devil leaves but says he’ll be back (of course he will) and we then fall into the abyss with Evie and her bereavement.

She decides she must speak to God to tell him it was a mistake. So she goes to a church and, surprise surprise, their answer is prayer. She knows better than they do though.

Further down the rabbit hole we go into Evie’s depression and mission to bring her ex-boyfriend back from the dead.

She eventually finds out about a website called Godcorp, which is supposedly the website for heaven, and doubts both its provenance and legitamacy. But later on Mr. Devil sends her a note telling her about the Godcorp website. Or maybe she found out from him first? I don’t exactly recall. This part of the book went from good to tedious very quickly for me, as evidenced by the two tweets nearly 2 hours apart where I went from liking the book to starting to resent Evie and her inability to Human.

She makes some new “friends” in the form of gothkid outcasts who believe they are prophets of some kind and spends the majority of her days trying to call Godcorp. She renders an enormous bill on her cell phone, alienates all of the people in her life except for the prophets, and lets her professional life turn to absolute shit. And to be honest it’s difficult not to resent her because she has every opportunity in the world to clean herself up and continue living a normal and productive life and she absolutely refuses.

So I don’t precisely remember why, but at 36% done with “Godcorp” I was certain there was no place else for this book to go. Evie obviously can’t bring Malcolm back from the dead and she cares very little about her own life (despite being quite selfish about it, actually). I was warned this book had a slow start and they weren’t wrong. It’s only after Ed (remember “strong arms”?) has her committed to the loony bin that things start to really pick up. She tells the hospital staff that her next of kin is none other than Mr. Devil and of course they don’t believe her. That’d be like telling the doctor your next of kin was Steve Jobs (if he were alive, rest in peace) or George Clooney. But it turns out one of the doctors is an illegal (a reincarnated person who knows about Godcorp – it’s a little too deep for parentheticals) and they call Mr. Devil and Mr. Devil’s mole assistant comes to get Evie. He brings her to Mr. Devil’s ginormous home and that’s where the story really beings.

Phew. This is a long book. I might need to take a break to continue on…

(Several minutes later)

Alrighty! Now that I’ve had a bathroom break and my tummy is full of delicious tomato bisque soup (with provolone cheese – it has to be with provolone cheese), let’s continue on.

So now Evie lives with the devil and let me tell you, that may not be such a bad thing. I don’t want to give too much away here because there actually is a LOT that happens. Here are some bullet-points for you:

-There’s a 17th century painting by William Blake called “The Devil’s Whore” that plays a significant role
-Evie continues trying for Godcorp with the help of Mr. Devil

(Did I mention that by this point – shortly before the forced hospitalization – Evie had been fired from her job? It happened right after Bloated John Travolta screamed his head off at her then broke her cell phone a minute after someone from Godcorp finally answered (that was a blow, I must say). Anyway, back to the bullet-points:

-Evie is falling in love with Mr. Devil

Like you didn’t see that one coming. There is quite a bit of backstory about Mr. Devil that you’ll have no problem understanding if you’ve ever so much as looked at a Bible at some point in your life. It’s fleshed out quite nicely here.

In the end Evie has a decision to make, and you might be surprised at what happens in the end. Some might call the end shocking or surprising. Some might guess it entirely. Some may say the end is something of a cop-out.

There are some great moments of truth, the best of which comes in a monologue from the devil himself:

“You don’t even know how selfish you are, do you? You haven’t the slightest bit of self-awareness. I may be the Devil, but at least I know what I’m doing when I’m being an asshole. You expect me to choose you and drop everything for you, when you are choosing him. You want it all your own way, everything exactly how you want it. No way, princess! I’m not going there! There isn’t anything in the world that would make go there while you have chosen him. You’ve got your answer. It was a mistake. Why won’t you just let it go, choose me, be with me, love me. Or go there and run to him. IT’s your choice, but make your decision.”

And some great moments of humor:

“I felt like a Muggle.”

“Oh God, I thought and God winked at me.”

All in all, I’d say this is a book you should read. Yes, it starts off well, slows to a pace rivaling molasses that will leave you wanting to put the main character out of her (and your) misery, but there is excellent payoff in the end, and some true originality that won’t leave you feeling like you’ve sacrificed your own religious faith (if you have it) for a day of fun reading.

There is a sequel, which I’m currently reading, and I can say so far that the sequel falls into the trap of not being as good as the first book (which is entirely my own opinion). You could read “Godcorp” as a standalone book, however, and be satisfied. There’s no real cliffhanger to speak of; in fact the ending is resolute with still a hint of promise for more. Download it while it’s free on Amazon.com this weekend, and spend a few hours falling in love with the Devil.

Five stars.

Evie Stone is astounding in the business world. Able to anticipate what her clients need and want, she is a natural in sales, and her customer base and list of top clients is proof of this. When one of the top entrepreneurs in the world, Lucius Devlin, requests to meet with her, the day can’t get any better. Her bosses are beside themselves with excitement over the prospect of representing any of his companies. Oh and on top of all of that, Lucius Devlin is gorgeous. He is tall with dark, blue eyes that can look right through to your soul. His messy dark hair and a sculpted body, plastic surgeons would beg to study. He is just perfection, here on earth. Evie begins to prepare for the meeting, but must leave on time today because she has a date with her on-again, off again boyfriend, Malcolm. Although he didn’t say why he wants to meet, Evie is convinced the date will conclude with Malcolm being her on-again boyfriend.
However, the date never happens and Malcolm never shows. Evie learns later that Malcolm had been hit by a car and killed on his way home from work. Every instinct in her body is telling her this was a mistake. Malcolm wasn’t supposed to die and she needs to bring him back. Unable to come to grips with the loss, Evie starts searching for answers on the internet. She is completely focused only on this task and begins to let everything around her slide. She still meets with Lucius Devlin and although he is even more charming and handsome in person, Evie is completely numb and is grieving for her lost love. Explaining her loss to him, he offers his friendship and a business card. On the card is a company name, Godcorp, with a phone number, that is all. But when Evie learns what the phone number is for, and who could be on the other end, what should she do? Lucius Devlin has given her a direct line to heaven, but at what cost? How hard are you willing to fight for someone you love and how do you know when it is time to let go? Are you willing to go through hell, to get to Heaven?
Very interesting story about good vs. evil, God and the devil, with a new twist. Really looking forward to the next book. 4 stars

This was a very intriguing book for my once I read the synopsis and I was stoked to get the chance to review it!!

So, the basis of this book includes resurrection, reaching God through emailing a website, and dodging games with the Devil. A lot to take in right? But I LOVE paranormal anything!!

Evie is a born saleswoman. She is totally about the business world. But when her boyfriend’s life ends abruptly and unexpectedly, as he is on his way to see her. In the process of questioning herself crazy, and searching every avenue possible, including some far reaching ones like mediums and finds a man that claims he can connect her directly through to Heaven. Is it possible? Could she actually get her answers, maybe even contact Malcolm?? But what does this man want in return? Is she willing to pay his price? Why does this man want to help her out of the blue like this?

What happens if this strange, mysterious and beautiful man gets in the way of Evie’s goal? How could she handle that after everything else? Is Evie strong enough to handle this battle?

You guys, if any of you are paranormal freaks such as myself, read this. Check it out and find out what happens to Evie and if she ever gets any answers to what happened to Malcolm and why he was taken so young and so untimely!

This book is different. If you are not open in your reading please do not read. It shares a modern story of God and the Devil and Evie Stone. Don't get all scared and freaked out now. It's about this woman Evie who is dating this guy who she loves SO MUCH, he dies and she knows it just was NOT his time. So she tries to find out if it was or was not his time, she meets prophets, she meets the devil, she tries everything, no matter how hard she tries she cannot find anyone to get any answers. Finally she finds out that her boyfriend got into Godcorp. The devil helps her get into contact with God. Evie falls in love with the Devil but she doesn't know it, she can't because she's still to in love with her boyfriend. God gets a trial and advises Evie to show up. So she does and they give her boyfriend the option to go back to earth or stay there. So does he stay? Does he go back with Evie? What will happen with Evie and the Devil? Will Evie realize she's in love with the devil?

I liked the book and the story line. It didn't change my beliefs at all. I am open though and understand it's fiction. So I enjoyed and am now on to book two. Can't wait to see what happens. I love a different type of book, so am enjoying them! Great book!

Holy Shit! I can't believe I actually read this entire book as it's one of the most stupidest books I've read in a long time. Yep, I'm the only one who thinks this as you can see from all the five-star ratings. Along with rolling my eyes throughout, I kept wondering what the fuck I was reading and why the fuck I continued to do so. The plot itself was fine. It's the execution of it that didn't work for me. I also hated the heroine, Evie. Seriously, this woman (more like little girl) was absolutely off her rocker. She most definitely belonged in a mental facility permanently. I thought her to be the dumbest, stupidest, childish, insane, naïve heroine I have ever come across. We're to believe she's got the "midas" touch; that's she's the best and brightest at what she does. Seriously? She's doing everything possible to speak directly to God. Not pray, talk. Like one-on-one. Give me a fucking break! There wasn't one thing about her that I liked. I really wish I could get back the precious time I spent reading this crap. I'm just glad it's over.

I give this book 4 stars. At first,I had a hard time getting into the book .. Learning about Malcom then Evie Their lives seem to be back and forth with conflict with each other. Then, Malcom dies and then you feel all the emotions from Evie’s loss.

Evie has a hard time accepting that her ex boyfriend was no longer living.

She then meets Lucius .. He is gorgeous and wealthy and everything that Evie could care less about. But their chemistry is off the charts. Evie struggles to keep her distance from Lucius. This book offers a lot of drama.. For me alot of confusion. But the end result was good . The book was well written. Just not my normal read!!

One Quote that stuck out to me was :

“And he was away again, playing me like a piano, as a master. He inspired sensations I never knew existed.”Heather

That was the hottest line in the book. It didn’t give you sizzle till the end of the book. Was more contemporary sifi/romance. Jessica wrote a excellent story.

Evie Stone has been in love with Matthew McGowan since they were twelve as they been together on and off since then. One day as Matthew was to meet Evie to tell her his secret he was involved in a motorcycle accident and was pronounced dead.

Evie has a hard time accepting that he is really dead and believes he can return. She meets Lucien Devlin a supposedly billionaire who seeks her services. He mentions Godcorp which might be the answer as a way to contact God.

But who is really Lucien Devlin and can he really be the devil himself and what is his real plans for Evie. Can he really help her meet up with Matthew or does he have an ulterior motive?

What would we really sacrifice to meet up with a dead loved one? Would we sacrifice our souls to the devil for what we want?

Jessica Smith’s novel is so original, it had me gasping in admiration. Clever, at times funny, at times tragic. A roller-coaster ride of emotions, twists and turns. Narratives with the devil as a protagonist have been written before, and not just in the Bible. However, Jessica’s originality lies in turning “the dark one” into a sexy, charismatic character who reminded me of Edward Cullen (Twilight), only darker. Evie is a complex heroine, full of contractions. I couldn’t help liking her and worrying about what she was getting herself into. Godcorp II is already downloaded onto my Kindle; I can’t wait to read it and find out what happens next. Oh, and book 3 will be published soon, I believe. Yey!

WOW!!

But I have to tell you, this is the strangest book I have ever read, and yet I couldn't put it down. First you have Evie, running around trying to resurrect Malcolm, her dead ex boyfriend. There's Ed, Malcolm's best friend and roommate, telling everyone Evie is a nut case and needs to be committed. Max Logan, Evie's boss, an "illegal", but not in the normal sense. Can't forget Devlin, hot and hunky and the chemistry between him and Evie is off the charts. Well why not, he is the Devil.. This book grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. Definitely a keeper, I can't wait to read the rest of Jessica Smith's books.

Wow. This was not what I expected. Tho I think I may be a little like Evie and knew it all at the beginning. I enjoyed the story and characters, and even enjoyed the twists toward the end. Theonly drawback I have is I feel like I can't trust the Devil, and I'm unsure if I believe the story in the long run. (Then again, this is a story about the Devil and God and him picking a woman out for his love and...hmm...). I definitely want to read part 2 and cannot wait ti get thru some of my TBR to get there!
