Awesome! Thanks for speaking at the Big Book Bash Andy. It was great to meet you and get the book signed. I laughed a lot reading it and my mum and sister quickly got bored of me recalling stupidly silly facts from the book all evening.

I've definitely read much better books of fun facts, and that's not just cause this one is written for kids. Yeah, I didn't learn that many new things from this, but when it's aimed at a much younger audience I didn't really expect to. I did expect to be amused by the presentation, and maybe pick up one or two fun bits. Instead, this book is largely a bunch of commonplace "silly" facts and dribs and drabs of poorly done humor. I feel like the emphasis on every section being Silly Whatever hurt things somewhat, as a lot of the stuff here isn't so much silly as it is just odd or unusual. Silly implies that it's laughable, and Vlad the Impaler or a hotel made of ice (in a Scandinavian country) aren't really that. There are also little bits of humorous facts, such as stuff like "the Eiffel tower is more than three feet high" that generally fall flat. There are repeated references to looking up more details on the internet, which is probably a big part of the problem with this. When I was a kid devouring weird fact books, I didn't have easy access to the internet and stuff like Cracked wasn't around. Now, obviously, Cracked isn't child appropriate at all, but I'm sure there are similar listicle sites aimed purely at kids in existence, and I feel like that means a book like this really has to go above and beyond to entertain its audience. As the Silly Site of Sidesplitting Stuff, this might be kinda fun, but as a book it doesn't work very well. I read this cause it was a Blue Peter Book Award nominee a few years back, and I must admit I'm surprised that the kids liked this one so much in comparison to other nonfiction kids books, which I'm sure are generally better. If you're a kid looking for funny facts to amuse yourself or your friends, there are much better places to look than in this book.

I am writing this review on behalf of my son who really enjoyed this book, having met the author at school he couldn't wait to read it and It didn't take him long before he was reading quotes out to me whilst In hysterics I'd say it was suitable from 8 years onwards it's full of humour and all kinds of silliness the kind kids love and appreciate!
