A cozy seaside Valentine Mystery that will keep you guessing. The Inn at Holiday Bay is a heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.
In book 32 in the series, Abby and Georgia stumble onto a new clue in an old mystery while entertaining an inn full of guests on Valentine's Day.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

V in the Valentine is the thirty-second book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming Inn at Holiday Bay series. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, and multiple twists and red herrings in the complex mystery keep the reader engaged. Whenever I pick up one of Ms. Daley’s books, I know I’m in for a treat, and I’ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted, cozy mysteries.
After losing her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, Abby Sullivan bought a huge old house in the charming town of Holiday Bay, Maine, without even seeing it. Once the house was renovated, she opened the Inn at Holiday Bay and found a home and a family. Abby lives in a cottage on the property with her Maine Coon, Rufus, and her terrier mix, Molly, and the inn’s newest employee, Bailey, and her newborn daughter, Hazel, have settled into the guest suite in Abby’s cottage. Georgia Carter-Peyton, who has also overcome obstacles in her lifetime, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager and has her own cable cooking show. Georgia and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, recently moved back into Tanner Peyton’s home, and the happy couple are now husband and wife. Jeremy and Mylie Slater and Jeremy’s young niece, Annabelle, recently welcomed Mylie and Jeremy’s first child, Danny, into their home. Colt’s niece and nephew, who are now full-time residents of Holiday Bay, seem to be adjusting to the move, and Colt’s parents sold their home and purchased the house behind Colt’s home.
In this installment, Abby, Georgia, and Lacy look forward to attending the upcoming Valentine’s Day event at the Bistro with their significant others. Colt and his team are busy trying to identify two bodies found on a large yacht tied to the end of the deep-water pier and finding two missing bank employees. Meanwhile, two of the inn’s current guests have intriguing reasons for being in Holiday Bay, one of which pulled Abby and Velma Crawford into the mystery and the other that piqued the interest of multiple people, including two members of the Murder on Tuesdays group Beck Cage and Joel Stafford.
The Inn at Holiday Bay is offering a special Valentine's Day package to their guests. But those who have booked rooms aren't looking for a romantic weekend. One woman is working through grief over the death of her son by completing a mission he started - searching for a young woman who exchanged letters with his comrade who was killed while serving in the military. A retired FBI agent has been working on solving cases that have gone cold. His current project involves serial killings that may have started in Holiday Bay. There are also recently divorced identical twin sisters who are on vacation, along with a young man who has been offered a job with the city and wants to check out the area. Colt is keeping busy working on two cases - a yacht anchored in their marina containing two dead bodies and employees at the local bank have disappeared without a trace. This is another interesting installment in the series which I have enjoyed reading for some time now. Abby's growing "family" fills her life. Colt's guardianship of his niece and nephew continues to be challenging for various reasons. Georgia wants to spend more time with her new husband.
A great cosy mystery series by Kathi Daley, which is now in its 32nd book!
Set in Holiday Bay, Abby Sullivan, an author, who bought the property after losing her husband and very young Son. She started a new life and has built a successful businessman along with Georgia and a whole host of employees who have become one big family.
This book is centred around Valentines Day, with several people booked into the Inn. This book includes characters from other cosy mystery series by the same author, series based in Holiday Bay, of which this series was the basis for them.
Whilst all the books in this series are standalone stories, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
If you like cosy mysteries, then try other books by this author. She releases books in her series frequently; they're easy to read in a few hours and don't contain cliff hangers.
I love this cozy mystery series and this one was very good as per her usual. Of course, there is always a murder. Abbey is the amateur sleuth and she is really good at it. She and Georgia run the Inn an one of their guest , Robert, was a retired FBI person and working on a cold case and Angie was trying to find someone her son communicated with when overseas and she wanted to give some things to the owner. Were they successful. Of course there is a case of the two missing bank staff. Valentine's day when Colt, Abbey, Georgia, Tanner, Lonnie and Lacey of course got ruined for Abbey as Colt got called into work. A VERY GOOD COZY MYSTERY READ.
Abby Sullivan suffered a personal tragedy and started over in Holiday Bay, Maine. She now owns and helps run a successful inn on the coast. She also has a large, adopted family. In this book, Abby and Georgia, her best friend, help find a clue in a cold case. And they have an inn full of guests for Valentine's Day.
Kathi Daley is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors and this book's a prime example of why. It was well-written with well-developed, believable characters. It was a quick, fun read that had me hooked from start to finish. The mystery was intriguing and fun to solve. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.
This latest entry in this wonderful series had everything! Mystery, intrigue, cold cases, lost love, puzzling situations, missing individuals and of course a Valentine's Day celebration. There was so much happening that I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, fast paced well written as always, very enjoyable. I recommend this series or any of the other entertaining books by this author. You won't be disappointed! 🎉🎉👏👏🌟🌟📚💞
I’ve liked this series of books, but was disappointed with this one. There are way too many character names, not all play a role in the book, but keep getting repeated over and over. It seems like a great deal was added just to reach a needed minimum of words. There are three plots that didn’t really hold my interest. The town characters that were so interesting in other books were mostly left out. Sorry to say I never really got into this book, I had really enjoyed the others
I am so glad this series is continuing. There are so many regulars that it does get confusing keeping everyone straight. There is always a main mystery and one or two mini mysteries among the guests. While all were solved, there was no real satisfaction in the solving. Still all the stories of all the characters is what keeps me coming back for more.
Lots going on in this book. 2 bank employees kidnapped, 2 men found dead in the belly of a boat and a planned Valentines week at the inn ends with a party at the Bistro. And to cap things off the plumbing at the Inn burst making a mess and causing guests and employees to move. Well written with plenty of action and suspense.
I love how Kathi wraps real life situations into her stories making the characters so relatable. This time a series of events leads everyone in different directions so that plans are shattered yet everyone works together to adjust and adapt. Along the way they form new relationships and find answers to old questions.
Amazon synopsis: In book 32 in the series, Abby and Georgia stumble onto a new clue in an old mystery while entertaining an inn full of guests on Valentine's Day.
As always I enjoy this series. I liked particularly that Colt really made an effort to be with Abby. I also liked that Mackey likes Abbie and being in the Inn and has friends. I already want to read the next one.
Abby wanted a romantic weekend with Colt but things for these two don't always work out. A couple of mysteries to solve keep us guessing throughout the book. An exciting book for sure.
It is great how close the inn family is. They work together so seamlessly It is better than most conventional families. The mysteries always get solved, they work gets done, and no one shows any drama. I wish my family was this goo.
I absolutely loved it! I’m glad that some things are working out. I hope more babies will be in the up in coming books. This is a must read series! I can’t wait for the next book.
Abby is looking forward to a romantic valentines Day with Colt starting with dinner and dancing and spending the weekend together however 2 dead bodies and 2 missing people from the bank ruin those plans in the end they get the answers they need but are still hoping for some time together,
This was not exactly the valentines day celebration everyone wanted. But the guests had more adventure to work on too. But then there was another unexpected thing with the plumbing so that wasn't helpful.
I enjoy reading Katie's books it is always interesting how everyone gets involved with all of the mystery of what is happening at the Inn and the things the world guests are involved in I am loo forward to reading her next book.
Mysterious deaths from 20+ years ago send guests on a search for the murderer! Missing bank workers leads to a murder, bank vaults disturbed, basement damaged! More to come!
This was one of the better books in the series. Lots of plots and mysteries going on. Great cozy read you can finish quickly but won’t keep you on the edge of your seat. I do wish Abby and Colt would get settled- I’m tired of their hesitancy to talk about the future.
This is an enjoyable quick read. There's always a mystery and lots of continuing details in the lives of Abby, Georgia, and the rest of the Holiday Bay Inn family.
This is a series but each book contains its own mystery and continued development of the wonderful characters. Love the family vibe and the caring for others while trying to figure out the mystery.
