Carrie Anne Ward grew up in the seaside resort Clacton on sea in Essex, England, with her mum and two brothers until she was 16 years old, and then moved with her mother to Colchester (where she still lives to this day) to go on to study Art and Design at the Colchester institute. However, after recovering from the illness glandular fever, which meant she couldn’t finish her degree, she went out into the world to become a working class citizen and a glamour model on the side.
For many years she would write story in her spare time, mostly horrors or supernatural, but never felt the passion to take it further. Her love for literature at school didn’t, at that point, over take her love of Art, but as she grew older her passion in writing surpass any other desire she ever had.
When BDSM erotic books took the world by storm, and what with Carrie having experience in this area, being a submissive, she finally found the genre in which she want to write about. Not to mention her love for erotica. Now at the age of 33 she has release her first erotic book and is currently writing the second part book in The Taylor Made Series, A Taylor Made Master.

This short anthology starts with a warning from the author advising readers that this is a collection of short stories intended to introduce readers to her writing style. She mentions that there have been, "comments" about how a brief the stories are, apparently thinking (or hoping) that this note to readers would prevent us from commenting on that fact in our reviews. I do understand what she meant as I often read reviews where people have posted low star ratings, stating that they did this because the book was, "too short". If I know that I am going to to be reading a short story or an anthology of short stories, I know not to expect as much detail or as much depth as I hope for in a full length book. I'm OK with that. For me, as long as a story contains a beginning, a middle and an end, the #of pages should have no bearing on its star rating.

If I hadn't needed to read this book for a challenge I participated in on Goodreads, I would have quit reading it after the very first story. The majority of the 10 stories in this collection are predictable, typical fantasies that anyone could write about. Most of the stories are about two people who morally and/or ethically shouldn't succumb to their sexual attraction to one another (ex: babysitter/dad, teacher/student, Dr./patient, neighbors etc.). The 10 stories did contain some type of beginning & Ward was able to create palpable sexual tension between the characters and a few of them. However, the body or meat of each story was simply the description of whatever sexual act or acts the characters engaged in. Unfortunately, most of these sex scenes were just average; I didn't read about anything extraordinary or markedly different from what I have read about in other erotica/erotic romances. The main problem for me though was the endings - there weren't any! In each story, as soon as the characters climaxed, the story ended. Some of the endings were so abrupt that I literally did not realize that the story was over! I listened to the first few stories using a text to speech app. When the 2nd story began, I thought I was still listening to a story about the male main character from the first story, not realizing for several pages that I was listening to the second story! Fortunately for me, this was an Amazon freebie because if I had paid for this book I would have been very, very upset!

This collection of shorts was just alright in my opinion. I did heed the author's note about how the stories contained in the collection were not anything related to romance and they were strictly about sexual encounters. But I was still not very impressed even just for the sex scenes. The issue I had with this collection was that the author had the characters in pretty much very story do the exact same position and similar build-up to that point. And all of the female characters were described as dressing in a very similar manner. I just felt that it was a bunch of the same and not very interesting because of that. I think that different positions and differences in character personalities would greatly improve this collection.

Just what the title says... 10 quick erotic stories to give you a hint of the author's style and favorite genre. Most were good, with a few scattered "that wouldn't happen" moments, but it's Carrie Ann Ward's fantasy erotia, so why not!

This was a great book, one that I could just pick up and get lost in a short story for a while. There is no foreplay, literally a quick fix and great introduction to this writer's work.
