Madison Reid and Matthew Berrington were best friends and neighbors who grew up together. Then 16 years ago, Matthew told Madison that he loved her. He was shocked when she revealed that she had a crush on his older brother, Alexander. With that pronouncement, Matthew walked away, never to see Madison again....until 16 years later, when they ended up being employed by the same hospital.

That employment resulted in Madison and Matthew being required to work together. It was a sticky, uncomfortable relationship that proved to Matthew that he was still in love with Madison. Both would love to rekindle at least the close friendship that they had, but while Madison wants the friendship, Matthew desires more.

A story of past love, unrequited love, close friendship, teenage angst, heartbreak, and moving on. Can anything be salvaged with this relationship since there is so much animosity, pain, and a reluctance to amend the situation, particularly on Madison's behalf. Only time will tell....

The captivating story of Matthew and Madison, they were best friends growing up, until Matthew declared his love for her at Christmas after high school graduation, Madison broke his heart when she told him she had a crush on his older brother. Matthew walks away and they don’t see each other again until 16 years later when Matthew is the new neurologist who is starting at the hospital where Madison is the clinical psychologist.
They end up having to work closely together and fall into a comfortable friendship again, however this is not what Matthew wants, he realises he is still in love with her.
They are faced with pressure, jealousy, indecision, secrets, facing their fears could lead to the absolutely beautiful happy ever after they deserve.

This book cover caught my attention and it was a marvelous story. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. It was addicted and more. Madison and Matthew were just friends until that magic moment has change everything for them in this time. They never thought that they could have feelings for each other in a physical attraction and the chemistry between them was sexual connection. Was love in the air for them this time around as it would have made a difference in this moment. I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed.

I don’t get it…

…the conflict was so low stakes and the characters so one-dimensional. I don’t understand what this story is trying to achieve. The writing is very clunky and the overuse of the characters names in EVERY DIALOGUE became annoying by the end. Matthew is probably one of the most spineless MCs I’ve ever read. At no point did he need to entertain Joanna at all after the many warnings he was given about her behavior. I don’t understand how THAT character was a fully fledged neurosurgeon. Make it make sense.

Nic has a special way of immersing you completely in the story. This story was so captivating. I laughed , I cried every moment was felt so deeply. Loved every bit of this Christmas love story.

This second chance romance read is a great way to spend your day. I read the entire book in a day and man what a great book this is. Everything about it screams read me now. The characters, the storyline the ending is AWESOME and Nic has written an AMAZING romance read.

good read

I enjoyed the book but hated how the female character gave him such grief. She had such an unforgiving personality for awhile.
