Sabrina Lacey was the pen name for author Faleena Hopkins when she was shyly first becoming an author. Since then, all of her works have been repackaged and republished under her own name, save for the I Love My...novels.
If you haven’t read Throbbing Hearts, you need to start with it. To see my review of it, go here.
This one picks up five years later and right where the previous installment left off. To refresh your memory…Annie has moved back from Italy, leaving her long-time love Christiano behind. She has opened a bar, Le Barre, in the Mission district. In an effort to console Mark’s precarious love issues, Brendan decides to switch things up and try a new bar…Le Barre.
Brendan is instantly attracted to the bartender (i.e. Annie) and begins flirting with her. After her initial shock of seeing him and further realization he doesn’t recognize her, Annie begins to trifle in return. It’s fun to see her acting more freely especially in light of her second chance with him.
A majority of this second part to the Hearts series is much like a game of cat and mouse; it’s the dance of will they or won’t they. While Brendan seems more like his pre-heartbroken self, he’s also had plenty of experience as the player and those habits are hard to break. Just when you think everything is going to be alright, Sabrina Lacey throws a bit of a curveball and takes us in a different direction. In the end this is a big tease with more of a cliffhanger. Literally, I’m all in the story. I’ve finished a chapter and swipe my screen to get “The End of Part 2”. I think an exaggerated cry left my mouth amidst the realization I again have to wait. Kudos to Lacey for creating an enticing tale.

Ok, so you get more then again another cliffhanger!!! I love that she finds herself and you get to hear sort of how it happened when she just up and left the states. You also get to hear more of Brendan's side and right when you think it is going to take off... BOOM!!! All hell breaks lose again!
Now, I wait. Not happily and very impatiently for book 3. This is why I usually wait for all the books to come out before getting started!!!
I really enjoyed part 2 of this series. I like how Annie has sort of come into her own, ditched the goth, and matured over the years. I love that Brendan doesn't remember Annie, well the new Annie at least. The ending left me wanting more...looking forward to part 3!
It's okay I would not recommend. Annie has matured some from first book, she needs to stop stringing Cristiano along. Brendan has grown up some not much he is still whiny, he needs to make it clear he is never going to take things to next level. Rebecca is ridiculous she can't accept that things are not going anywhere with Brendan. For a mature woman she needs to wake up and move on. I found Rebecca vindictive and manipulative. I read in Hearts Series: Books 1-6
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
WOW I just finish reading this book, and I love it, I love the characters, I read the first book and love it, but now I am loving this one more, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away. This is the second book in Heart series.
This story pick right up where THROBBING HEART end it, with Mark and Brendan walk into the bar Le Barre.
Annie move back to San Francisco, and open her own bar called Le Barre. While being behind the bar, she hear the door open and one of the lady, let her know about the two hunk that walks in, when Annie looked up she notice that it was Brendan and jerkoff Mark. When they set down at the bar, Annie did not know how to act, if he was gone recognize her or not, but one thing she notice is that she don't look the same as before, Brendan got attractive to her right away, and started flirting with her, will he get to recognize her before the night is over.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, I love how Annie and Brendan are with each other, I love how this series is turning out to be, now I am so ready to read the next book in the series, Author Sabrina Lacey THANK YOU for this awesome series and this amazing characters love them.
Reaching Hearts (Hearts Series #2) by Sabrina Lacey 3.5 stars out of 5
Annie has returned from Italy. She buys a bar and works on making her business a success. While she has been in a long term relationship in Italy, Annie has not forgotten about Brendan.
One fateful night Brendan and Mark deviate from their normal routine and end up at Annie's bar. Annie is amazed when Brendan doesn't recognize her without her goth hair and clothes.
Her flirting is successful and they make plans for later. Although Brendan almost doesn't show and Annie is sure at one point he isn't going to, eventually he does. What happens during their time together will change lives forever.
I felt like I got to know Annie and Brendan better during this part. The secondary characters added more to the story as well.
I liked the second part better than the first. It ended as a cliffhanger as well. I am looking forward to Part 3.

book two, rejoins Brendan and Annie, five years after their first encounter. Back from Italy, Annie runs a bar, that brendan and Mark wander into one day. Annie recognizes Brendan, but he doesnt her, i mean they only spoke once or twice, its hardly surprising. after Brendan returns to the bar late that night, Annie gets her wish, and then faces the barrel of a gun!
again, so so VERY short, shorter than book one. i cant say that these books are good, i really cant, but they arent BAD either! just short. they should be banded together in a single book, and the story would flow more.
we hear again from Brendan and Annie, but also flashbacks to what Annie has been doing in Italy. off to read book three, but only because ive been asked to.

This picks up straight from where Throbbing Heart ends. I enjoyed this more than book one. I loved the chase of these two characters. Storyline was good and it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. The ending has me wanting to jump straight into part three.
