After a brutal heartbreak in law school, Henry Park, Jr. closes himself off to all things love to become one of NYC's top divorce attorneys. For years, he's lived his life by a strict set of rules in and out of the courtroom, but the pressures of being the eldest of five sons and his father's protégé begin to weigh on him.
Camila Sanchez is more than just Henry's long-time paralegal; she's his right hand, working overtime most nights while she completes her law degree in secret. Henry may be rigid, but he’s also the smartest lawyer in the firm and ridiculously good-looking. It's only natural she developed a crush.
When an old flame shows up as a new client, Henry decides to numb the pain with a drink...or six. Suddenly, Camila looks less like his colleague and more like his next conquest. Years of tension finally bubble over, but can Henry let go of his rules to grab hold of the woman he wants?

More Park brother charm, more cozy vibes. 💕 This one leaned even harder into the rom-com energy with cute moments, playful tension, and characters you just want to see happy. Nothing groundbreaking, but very enjoyable if you’re in the mood for something light, sweet, and emotionally safe. Zero angst, maximum aww. 😌 Leaning towards 4.5 ⭐️’s
This was a good, solid romance. The author did a very deft job of balancing a power disparity between the two main characters. It could have been very easy to slip over into “ick” territory with Henry being Camila’s boss, especially when he tried to reassert control of their dynamic after their first kiss. However, the author was able to portray that Henry was also vulnerable too and that he had something precious to lose. It helped to place him and Camila on a level playing field in spite of their boss/employee dynamic.
I also appreciated that the author established that Henry and Camila were attracted to one another’s personalities before the sexual attraction came into play. Henry appreciated Camila’s sharp mind and attention to detail and Camila appreciated that Henry was a fair and respectful boss.
Their path to love was a little rough though. I give Camila props for keeping her composure after what went down with Naomi. Her humiliation, hurt, and rage really came through in that chapter.
I do appreciate that the author addressed Henry’s complicated feelings for his ex and how those feelings affected his relationship with Camila, but I felt like it wrapped up too neatly in that he and Camila never discussed why it happened as opposed to why it shouldn’t have happened. By Henry’s own admission, he thought he was in love with Naomi so I wish he would have addressed that with Camila (especially since it was clear from his internal monologue that he still found Naomi attractive). That part felt unresolved to me.
I rated this novel a 4/5 mainly because of that and a few personal quirks I had in relation to the characters’ inner dialogue not always reflecting the physical/emotional circumstances happening around them but, beyond that, this was an enjoyable read. I look forward to catching glimpses of Henry and Camila’s deepening love story in future Park brother books.
I received a free copy of this work in exchange for my honest review.

It was okay. It was too insta-lusty for me. Yes, technically they knew each other for six years but as a reader the story was very much focused on lust and not love. I didn't really feel like they truly fell in love, because I missed a deeper emotional connection between Henry and Camila. The tension in the beginning was good but the spice started too early and in the end was a bit letdown. The scenes just weren't it, too short and not written in a way that were hot to me. The ending wasn't satisfying as well. They share the first I love You's in the epilogue and it definitely felt like an HFN and not a HEA. The next book in the series probably shares some more about them (I haven't read it and don't plan to) but as is the ending was merely okay, just like the whole story.
It's a very light read. Nothing life-changing. Everything's just too obvious, and at times I felt like the characters were highschoolers due to the type of banter and """drama""" displayed.
My first official ARC! Here's my honest review: I was surprised by Henry! He is hilarious! It was great to see him have the self-awareness that his work persona does the most. Both me and Camila were shook by how charming he actually is! There were some moments in the writing that got a bit to tell vs show, but the character work was done well! I could perfectly see these two as whole people and loved their dynamic together. Beyond the romance (swoon worthy), I loved the family dynamics! Rory is a rider for her sister, which we love to see! Of course, we adore the Park brothers (minus Cory. I want to box him hahaha)
2.5 stars...it got weird at some points. walk with me here
I like this idea. maybe its projection of my choice to also go to law school LOL but yes good idea interesting characters shoutout the paralegals of the world. however comma. some of the ways they'd talk about things threw me a tad off and maybe I am just the friend that's too woke (I am)!
there was a scene where the Parks are eating soul food for sunday dinner and it's said they chose to not prepare fried chicken so that Maya wasn't uncomfortable...hello? and the explanation of why they didn't make chicken actually made me so irritated like that was silly and almost too aware of controversy like...either do it or don't. I don't read these books to get meta with the current political and social state of the world
also. henry calling her frumpy like 7 times in the beginning was just bothersome. i'm supposed to want camila to be with someone who didn't call her pretty until she had cleavage showing? hmmmmm im okay.
not a bad overall read, just enough that I couldn't really get into it without sighing deeply and rolling my shoulders
I truly enjoyed getting to know Henry and Camila and their professional lives, particularly their extended families. This book was quite different from the usual romance novels I’ve read. I enjoyed experiencing the NYC locations, through their eyes, especially since I live in NY. The camaraderie among the Park brothers was enjoyable and touching. The romance was spicy and engaging. I was also able to learn more about the legal profession at a level I had not experienced before in a romance novel. I look forward to reading more about the remaining Park brothers.
This was an enjoyable second read. I’m not typically a fan of the workplace romance trope, and while this story included a fair bit of what you’d expect, I appreciated some of the unexpected elements in how the plot played out. The humor worked for me and I liked the characters overall.
It wasn’t a standout read, but it was solid — nothing to brag about, just an easy, satisfying time. I’m on the fence about continuing the series. The next brother hasn’t exactly made a great impression in the first two books, so I’m not sure I want to spend a whole book with him.
cute but henry was a bit too stick in the mud for me. i didn’t really buy that he’s been into camila this whole time or that she was either. it kinda felt like they got drunk one time together and hooked up and then thought they should keep doing it. and then somehow feelings got involved. idk, i like this series though so will continue
This was an okay one time read. It didn't feel like a love story. More like we lust after each other. But for those who are romance lovers, you will like it.
🥃 ARC Review: Pride & Precedents by Katherine E. Webb Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.75/5) — A solid, satisfying slow-burn that balances the books. Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (Workplace simmer, emotional heat) Pour Style: Workplace Romance | Boss/Paralegal | Slow Burn Tension | Brother's Series (Park #2) | Second-Chance Healing
🍸 The Vibe Check Pride & Precedents is the kind of neat, complex bourbon you appreciate on a long, hard-earned Friday night. It’s got a smooth foundation, a strong core of character integrity, and just enough spice to keep things interesting. This second installment in The Park Brothers series proves that even the most rigid lawyer can break his own rules for the right woman.
🍹 The Drink Pairing: The "Park Precedent" Manhattan For the rigid, rule-following Henry and the simmering workplace tension, we need a bold, classic cocktail that subtly breaks its own rules.
The Pour: A Manhattan, stirred, and served neat in a chilled coupe glass. The Base: 2 oz High-Proof Rye Whiskey (Bold, assertive flavor matching Henry's courtroom dominance). The Structure: 1 oz Sweet Vermouth (The structure of the legal world). The Heart: 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters & 1 Dash Chocolate Bitters (The hidden warmth and complexity of Henry's true heart). The Garnish: A Lemon Twist (The "precedent" that breaks the rules—a Manhattan traditionally uses a cherry, but the sharp citrus adds the necessary clean break).
🥃 The Pour (The Setup) Henry Park, Jr., the stoic eldest brother and a top divorce attorney, has built a fortress of rules around his broken heart (thanks, law school ex). His only steady presence is his paralegal, Camila Sanchez—sharp, dedicated, and secretly pursuing her own law degree. Their dynamic is professional perfection, but the tension has been simmering for years. When Henry’s painful past walks back into his office as a new client, his carefully structured world dissolves into six too many drinks, and suddenly, Camila is no longer just his colleague.
🔥 What Stole the Show Katherine E. Webb does a deft job of handling the Power Disparity. It would be easy for the boss/employee dynamic to feel "icky," but the vulnerability the author grants Henry, combined with Camila's professional strength, keeps them on a level playing field. Henry respects Camila’s mind first, and Camila appreciates him as a fair boss. Their mutual attraction starts with respect—a rare and fantastic foundation.
The moment when Henry's rule-breaking leads to disaster (hello, Naomi drama) and Camila’s humiliation, hurt, and rage came through with fantastic clarity. That chapter provides the necessary emotional consequence and helps earn their path forward.
📝 Character Notes Henry Park, Jr.: Dubbed "Sub Zero," he’s a brilliant, tightly wound attorney, but underneath that chill is a sweet man waiting to lavish kindness on Camila.
Camila Sanchez: Henry’s brilliant right hand. A strong, deserving heroine who navigates professional and emotional boundaries with impressive composure.
⚠️ A Small Quirk (Why it’s a 3.75/5) While the book delivers a solid romance, the wrap-up of Henry's lingering feelings for his ex felt a little too neat. A smooth bourbon requires time to breathe, and I wish Henry and Camila had taken a little longer to discuss why the emotional slip-up happened, not just why it shouldn't have. It left a small, unresolved note in an otherwise enjoyable story.
🥂 Final Sip This is a great, solid romance that balances workplace tension with genuine emotional connection. If you love a hero who learns to shed his armor for the woman who truly sees him, and you appreciate watching a relationship built on mutual respect heat up, this pour is for you.
I’m looking forward to catching glimpses of Henry and Camila’s deepening story in future Park Brother books!
Pride & Precedents by Katherine E. Webb dives into the story of Henry Park Jr. (Adam’s brother from Book 1) and his paralegal, Camila.
After years of working side by side, things finally heat up when Henry’s sort-of ex reappears, sparking a drunken first move on his part. Camila, who’s secretly harbored a crush on her boss for years (and honestly, who wouldn’t, given the author’s description?), doesn’t hesitate to reciprocate. Honestly, I could almost hear Camila’s sister Rory in my head saying, “Why not? He’s hot!”
Of course, like all good office romances, there’s an obstacle: their jobs. Henry, being a name partner at the firm and a stickler for rules, tries to suppress his feelings. Predictably, he ends up saying something to Camila, and this is where the book sets itself apart from other romances. Camila doesn’t break down and wallow in rejection. No, she handles it like a boss—showing Henry exactly what he’s missing. And when I say Henry was begging for another chance, I mean begging—though thankfully without any over-the-top groveling.
What I loved here is how the drama unfolds subtly and realistically, never straying into soap opera territory. The challenges they face feel grounded and believable, making their journey all the more engaging. And when everything resolves, it does so in a way that’s both satisfying and true to the characters.
This book hits all the office romance tropes, but it does so with a fresh, grounded approach. It avoids the overblown drama and instead gives us mature characters who act like real adults. Camila’s reaction to rejection was empowering, and Henry’s attempts to win her back felt genuine and relatable. It’s a reminder that romance stories don’t always need dramatic standoffs or clichéd misunderstandings to keep readers hooked.
Now, let’s talk about the steam. Oh. My. Goodness. If books could radiate heat, this one would be scorching. The intimate scenes were intense, realistic, and downright immersive. Let’s just say I might have blushed a little while reading. Okay, a lot.
Another standout aspect? Pride & Precedents works perfectly as a standalone. There are glimpses of Adam and Maya’s story from the first book, but you don’t need to have read it to enjoy this one. That said, the author left some tantalizing breadcrumbs about Henry’s brother, Corey. Fingers crossed that the next book features him falling hard for a voluptuous, dark-skinned woman who knocks him off his pedestal (manifesting this into the universe right now!
There is something about those Park Brothers! In Pride & Precedents, Katherine E. Webb continues her series featuring the Park Brothers with a look at the driven and stoic Henry, Jr. In the first book, Champagne Kisses, readers got to meet the brothers as the youngest brother Adam and Maya took those first steps towards love. The only brother that stood out was Cory and mostly because he was so obnoxious. However, now it is Henry’s turn to shine. During graduate school, Henry was burned by love and since becoming a partner at a prestigious law firm he has kept his interactions at work purely professional, so much so that he has earned the nickname of Sub Zero. Camila has worked for Henry for five years, she has maintained a professional relationship with him, and they have been careful in not crossing barriers. Until they aren’t! Now after one brief indiscretion, Henry and Camila are having difficulty navigating their work/romance balance. Add the fact that the source of Henry’s biggest heartbreak is now a client, then you have a recipe for disaster! Henry, on the surface, is a totally different MMC than sweet Adam. However, under his chill and no nonsense external is a sweet and kind man waiting to lavish that goodness on someone. Camila deserves all the love he has to give! I am poised to read the next book in the series. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Webb does with rude Cory and I would like some closure concerning Henry’s job situation. I am SOOOO enjoying the Park brothers. https://theretiredreader.com/f/pride-...
Sharp suits, slow-burn tension, and a workplace romance that hits.
After having his heart shattered in law school, Henry Park Jr. builds walls instead of relationships, channeling everything into becoming one of NYC’s top divorce attorneys. He lives by rules - professionally and personally - and as the eldest of five brothers and his father’s protégé, the pressure never lets up.
Enter Camila: his brilliant, loyal paralegal who quietly holds his world together while secretly earning her own law degree. The pining? Immaculate. The tension? Years in the making. When Henry’s past resurfaces in the form of an old flame turned client, one bad night and far too many drinks finally crack the façade - and the line between boss and something more blurs fast.
This book delivers a chef’s kiss slow burn with payoff. Watching Henry unravel and confront what he actually wants was incredibly satisfying, and Camila is the kind of heroine you can’t help but root for - smart, driven, and done waiting to be seen.
And the brothers? I love their dynamic. The banter, the loyalty, the chaos—it all adds so much heart to the story. Cory, though… he’s that annoying itch you can’t quite scratch; those snide comments, poor attitude - looking forward to reading his story next.
This was a feel good interracial romance. Camilla is a plus size, Hispanic woman working as a paralegal to Henry Park. Henry is Korean, the oldest of 5 brothers and has spent the last 7 years working for his partnership at his law firm as their top divorce attorney.
He’s been attracted to Camilla since she became his paralegal but doesn’t believe in relationships at work. After his ex from college comes in asking him to help her divorce her husband, it causes a cascade of effects.
Then one night at a bar he makes a pass a Camila and things just move from there until disaster happens and they’re found out.
This was a such a nice, easygoing read. I loved all of the characters. I loved the family relationships on both Henry and Camilla’s side. Even the law firm scenes were great.
This is a new authors second book. I will be reading her first one and her subsequent books! Borrowed this from Kjndle Unlimited.
Another book by this author that I thoroughly enjoyed. Henry and Camila were both driven and smart but besides that really differed in personality in a way that made their dynamic interesting both at work and outside of work.
The pacing of the story was good, it didn't feel too rushed and it gave the characters a chance to realise things in their own time. I also loved that this story didn't end with an engagement, marriage or baby, it felt refreshing and right for this couple and didn't diminish where they were in their relationship or where they were heading.
This book showcased more of the relationship between the brothers which I liked and it has made me more interested in their potential stories.

I enjoyed this one same as much as the first book of the series. This one it was definitely a little different from the first book of the series, and I'm a huge fan of the office romance trope. I like Henry as a character, and I love the grumpy and sunshine relationship between him and Camila. I also love Camila as a character, and I love the confidence she has. I like how the author of this series doesn't make her female leads think less of themselves. Yeah, they have issues, but they don't let their issue define them as women. I can't wait for Denise and Cody, and I know I'm gonna love their enemies to lovers book.
Tropes: Workplace romance Slow Burn Forbidden Attraction Grumpy x Sunshine Second Chance at Love
Henry Park is funny, charming, and completely caught up in his high-stakes, toxic job — until Camila, his long-time paralegal, forces him to confront his heart. Their chemistry simmers for years before finally boiling over, and the slow-burn tension kept me hooked from start to finish.
Watching Henry wrestle with family expectations, his own rigid rules, and finally open himself up to love made this such a satisfying story. Camila was smart, patient, and an incredible grounding force for him.
Katherine E. Webb continues to write emotional, engaging romances with relatable characters and witty banter. The Park brothers just keep getting better!
When someone can write, you just know it. Katherine Webb can write! I believed this story, the characters and their actions felt very realistic. I enjoyed the legal details that were given lending further believability to the story. I so related to straight-arrow, subzero Henry even more than to our heroine Mila. I felt invested and interested and just wanted to see the next thing that would happen. This Park brother's story won me over and now I'm going to read the rest of them.
I am obsessed with the Park Brothers. There I said it, this book was an amazing, quick read. Henry was a loverboy waiting to be cracked and Mila did just that. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! My only complaint is that the end felt a bit rushed and I would have loved to hear more about their next steps but here's to hoping we get a glimpse of that in the next book in the same way we got more info on Adam & Maya! Patiently waiting for book 3...
Much like the first book, I enjoyed this! I liked Henry. He made some questionable decisions but I didn’t feel like he was malicious or domineering, something I think becomes a problem in a lot of these workplace romances. I’m still so curious about what Cory’s problem is. I liked Camila, she had a real backbone. I do wish she had reacted quicker to certain things, I think it would’ve saved some issues in their workplace. Then again, he was a little stubborn. Overall, super enjoyed.
I liked this book a bit more than the first one in the series I think. I found Camila to be very relatable and she made a lot of decisions that I probably would've made in her position. I love getting to know the Park brothers more in this book and still getting a few appearances from Maya and Adam as they were heading towards their wedding date. Cute book overall!

I loved this was a interracial romance with two different and distinct cultural backgrounds. Camilla was a strong and intelligent woman with goals in a tough career. I loved the steamy encounters, it was believable. I didn't like how Henry procrastinated with Mila, but this also kept me reading because I wasn't sure what decision he would make. I enjoyed reading more about Adam and Mayas love story through out the story.
Ok, you gotta love an author adept at pop culture references (21 Jump Street, anyone?) and witty repartee between various characters. The slow burn melt of Sub Zero and Mila eventually embracing her inner vixen is a fascinating study in swoony, angsty inevitability.
I love how Mila had Henry wide open. In the office, he was a sick in the mud with all his rules. Then Mila caused him to break them all. I've read both books of the series Anne this is my fave, so far. Now I'm trying to patiently wait to read the 3rd book in the series.
