Night Walker by Lisa Kessler Night Walker was a stellar read from new-to-me-author Lisa Kessler about a soul deep love that never dies.
Two hundred years ago Father Gregorio Salvador fell in love with one of the local tribeswomen, Tala. Secretly meeting under the veil of darkness they found each other’s soul mates in one another. When Tala discovers that she is with child, Gregorio decides to leave the church and start a new life with his love. Confessing his sins and asking for absolution, Gregorio rushes to join Tala – only to find her brutally murdered. Now, betrayed by the ones he trusted most and grieving his lost love Gregorio is taken in by Tala’s tribe and brought before the Old One who grants him the gift of immortality so that he can one day meet up with his love once again… Now going by the name of Calisto Terana, a wealthy philanthropist, he lives among mortals using his Night Walker abilities to hunt down corrupt humans and to search for his lost love. When a chance meeting introduces him to Kate Bradley, Calisto knows that it is fate and he has found his Tala once again. However, after catching her fiancé in the arms of another woman the last thing Kate wants to do is to jump into another relationship; though she can’t deny that there is something about Calisto that calls to her, like she has known him her whole life... Knowing without a doubt that Kate is Tala reincarnated, he woes her into his arms. But just when it seems like Calisto is finally going to have the second chance he has dreamed centuries of his old brotherhood, the Del Fuego Santo, show up with dark plans to destroy them all. Can their new love overcome the many secrets that Calisto keeps and the danger that the Del Fuego Santo bring? Or will they not only destroy their second chance of love, but their lives as well?
Night Walker is an intensely emotional and riveting paranormal romance that I could not put down! Calisto’s depth and devotion captured my attention from the start; he was a true romance hero in every way! A well written, dimensional character with an elaborate background masterfully entwined in the plot. Kate was a good, strong heroine that dealt with the obstacles thrown in her way superbly. Though her quickness to run whenever she got uncomfortable or confused was a little annoying, she has a big heart and a strong will that more than made up for that little quirk. Together Calisto and Kate made a fantastic couple. Their relationship progressed quickly but because of their past it felt believable. This led to several erotic love scenes that were exciting without being vulgar, which is a fresh breath every now and then in romances.
The plot moves at a moderate pace- not too fast, not too slow, with the story switching from past to present at different intervals; these transitions were fluid and prefaced with a handy date. The world building was exceptional and just in case you think this is your same old same old vampire romance; a Night Walker is not the same as a vampire. Calisto makes that abundantly clear! LoL The end was the most perfect and sensual ending I have read in a while and the epilogue has me so curious and ready for more! I cannot wait for Night Demon to come out in December so that I can find out what that eagle is up too, he raised several intriguing questions for me!

Blood of the Demon by Rosalie Lario Brynn has never considered herself normal since she has been able to wield a strange power from a young age, but she never thought of herself as anything but human until the day she was kidnapped by a handsome stranger and then her whole world was turned upside down. Keegan and his brothers are interdimensional bounty hunters charged with the task of finding an ancient book and capturing Brynn, who is the key to the powerful and dangerous ‘Book of the Dead’ and keeping her out of the hands of the evil Mammon, who wants to use the book to raise an army and take over the Earth. If they fail to find the book before Mammon does then they have been ordered to kill Brynn and prevent Mammon from reaching his evil ambitions at all costs.
In Blood of the Demon, Rosalie Lario has built a complex and interesting world that follows the life of four brothers who are half demon. Each brother comes from a different mother and has different abilities from each other but were all taken from their mothers at a young age to be raised by their cruel, power hungry father. Surviving that torment and finally escaping, they now seek his destruction. Keegan, being the eldest, has always felt responsible for each of them and would put his life on the line for any one of his brothers. He was an awesome and honorable hero that I had no trouble falling in love with right away.
Brynn and Keegan’s chemistry sizzled from the start but was fought by both characters, that didn’t stop their subconscious minds from dreaming though…I’ll let you think about that one for a bit. ;) Their relationship was rife with subterfuge and secrets though that were slowly peeled away one layer at a time throughout the story, giving it great mystery and adding wonderful sexual tension.
Brynn made a good heroine, though I get a bit annoyed with character names that I have to figure out the pronunciation to every time I read it! Does it sound like Brin, Brine, or what? I dunnoh. LoL I liked her independence though and her willingness to defend herself, and also her understanding when it came to Keegan’s powerful struggle between his brothers, his duty, and the woman he is falling in love with. All of these struggles led to several sexually intense and emotionally tormenting scenes that just sucked me into the story more.
This paranormal world in Blood of the Demon was incredibly inventive and I found it intriguing that each species came from different dimensions, including angels, and were all ruled by a rather lax Elden Council. The author created an easy to follow paranormal story line with aspects from Egyptian mythology as well with her wonderful writing style. A dangerous and passionate story that is a promising start to a new series; I look forward to future stories about the rest of the brothers who were unique and captivating in their own right.
This is an incredible collection of awesome reads!
This is my review of Night Walker by Lisa Kessler: I discovered Lisa Kessler when I read her excellent novella, Across the Veil, and could hardly wait to read Night Walker. I love paranormal romances and Lisa does not disappoint with Night Walker. She masterfully weaves Indian mythology and vampiric lore into a romantic thriller spanning multiple lifetimes. Calisto is a Spanish priest who falls in love with Tala, a native at the mission where he was working. The lovers are tragically torn apart by the betrayal of a trusted Church confidante. Inconsolate, Calisto gives up his mortality to become a Night Walker serving humanity while fervently hoping to find his beloved Tala again. Alas, the Church misguidedly continues to pursue Calisto believing him to be a follower of Satan even as the couple falls in love again. Are they doomed to have their past repeat itself? Don't miss this tale of star-crossed lovers... This will be a keeper on my bookshelf and it's an excellent start to a new series.
I want to thank Entangled Edge for putting together this wonderful set of paranormal romances. It's filled with seven excellent stories by a very talented group of authors. This is such a wonderful bargain. Who doesn't enjoy a bad boy hero of the paranormal persuasion? These stories are fast-paced and filled with passionate romance. It's impossible for me to chose a favorite, but that said I loved Night Walker by Lisa Kessler. The story of Calisto and Kate was impossible to put down. I'm also a fan of the Bringer and The Bane series by Boone Brux. I enjoyed the story of Ravyn and Rhys. The action was non-stop and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. An added bonus was the passionate romance between our two Bringers . It's also nice to be able to sample some new-to-me authors. I now have more books to add to my TBR pile. Don't miss Tall, Dark and Deadly: Seven Bad Boys Of Paranormal Romance.
I am a huge fan of Entangled PNR books in general and this collection would be a great way to meet some of their fantastic authors!
Speaking as a reader, I have only actually read one of the books in this series (Lisa Kessler's Night Walker) BUT I have read different books by the other authors in this collection. And the books that are in this collection are books from these authors that I DO WANT TO READ!
In my opinion you can't go wrong buying this collection - even one of these fantastic books would set you back over $3 and you can get all 7 for 99 cents? SMART BUY!
I've read lots of Entangled romances so this collection is great value. I've read two from the bundle, and loved them so to get all these for such a bargain price is excellent value for money and a great way to stock up your kindle and get a taste of some new sereis. The first is Undying Destiny Jessica Lee. Vampires - tick, romance - tick, OK time to get lost into a novel hopefully. And yes, I did get lost in this book - in a good way of course. Emily - works in a hospital, is on her way to a night shift when she finds an injured man. She stops to help him, calls for ambulance and carries on to work. At the end of her shift she checks on him, near to death everyone had thought...but its Kenric, and his vampire body has almost healed, but he needs blood..right now and Emily unwittingly provides it. He takes a bit too much and she faints so he calls in his team to help cover everything up. He takes her back to where he and his fellow vampires live. There's an ongoing battle between them, the few who want to live among humans but unnoticed, and others who create vampires that are just addicted to blood and kill needlessly. (BTW I hate twee stuff and to me that DEAD acronym was just cringing and didn't suit the style of the novel...personal peculiarity though I know.) This time is his maker, a female who killed the woman he loved and is out to get him. In between convincing Emily everything is OK ( what a world shaker for her ) he faces a vicious battle against Marguerite. She wants him, and will use Emily to get to him knowing he's come to care for her. The set up - warrior group of "good" vampires warring against the "bad" ones reminds me of Lara Adrian's novels. Its a very similar world, secrets to keep from humans, trained and morally good vampires and always a threat to the way of life they lead and want to protect. Betrayals by someone close leave Emily and Kenric in serious danger. Its a real action story, along with some spicy sensual romance. It was a pretty easy work to get into, much of the conventional vampire lore applies so it seems a bit like returning to a familiar world. The characters were very well drawn and it was easy to empathise with them, and root for them to come out in top. As regular readers of my reviews will know I just love a good bitch and Marguerite was certainly that - all the drama you'd expect from a woman scorned!! If anything the story was a little light on drama. There was action but it wasn't to any great depth and quickly over, but for those who like an easy read that's fine, for me I like a little more thoroughness and drama, for things to get quite heavy. But we all want something different and its certainly a world I'd happily venture into again.
Its well edited and constructed, everything ties up properly and there's a way left for more books. I hope that happens as this was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I can see this being the start of a series, certainly the ending leaves an opening for a follow up novel finding out what will happen to the one who unwillingly betrayed Kenric and the Warriors. Stars: well, if it was just that bit "heavier"? Not quite sure how to put it ..it would be a five but as it is its a definite four from me.
the second is the wonderful Bittersweet Blood. Nina Croft: Vampires and Romance, love those books so I was eager to crack on with this one. Since Twilight however, it seems every other book has vampires of some description and some are really trite stories so I'm quite picky about which ones I pick. The sample on this was good so I wanted to see if the rest lived up to the early promise - the quick answer is yes! Anyway the description covers outline pretty well so I'll concentrate on how I felt about the book. Firstly the storyline - it was clear that however much Tara wanted to be normal she wasn't going to turn out that way but I didn't work out what she was til; the storyline opened it up. Its good to have things that keep you guessing in a book, unpredictability is what keeps us reading and interested. Jamie came as a total shock! Didn't see that one coming. Christian - and Piers- Vamp hotties, true Alpha males and I enjoyed the testosterone conflicts between them and also the werewolf Carl. Tara makes a good lead too - not easily knocked back despite her upbringing and able to stand up to Christian and Co. I didn't work out the ending - that's good as often its just so obvious, and it didn't involve the cop out of Tara suddenly developing new powers as so many fantasy books do when its all coming to a head and there's no clear way out. Its a solidly plotted book, with characters that are realistic (well, as realistic as fantasy characters can be!) there's sex scenes but its done well and sensual rather than vividly in your face erotic - and who wouldn't want an encounter with Christian and all that he promises!
The book has a variety of warring creatures among them vampires, demons, werewolves, witches and fae and in order to protect Tara Christian needs to find out who is after her and exactly what she is. She's come to him in his work capacity as a PI but they quickly develop feelings for each other even when she discovers he's a 500 year old vampire. If you like romance with a decent plot to back it up and stop it being a sickly love story then this book delivers. I really enjoyed it - will add it to my keepers list for re reading and look out for further books from Nina. The characters in this book and the ethics surrounding Order - the organisation ruling the supernaturals, have plenty of potential for further books and I hope Nina develops this into a series.
Stars - A well deserved four and a half stars from me, almost a five but not quite.
My review for South of Surrender: This is the third book in Laura Kaye’s Hearts of the Anemoi Series and I have been looking forward to reading it since finishing West of Want, the second title in the series. Well, it was well worth the wait. This, so far, is officially my favorite book in the series. Loved, loved, LOVED! Laney Summerlyn lives a very routine and organized life on the beloved horse farm left to her by her grandfather. Learning to live with a degenerative disease that is slowly stealing her sight, having such a routine and organized life is crucial to letting her keep her independence and stay with her cherished horses. With a little help around the farm from her close family friend, Sam, she has managed to do just that….until a severe summer storm rips through the farm and sends something, or someone, crashing through her barn and turns her life completely upside-down. Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind, is on the hunt for his brother, Eurus, and is determined to save him from a death sentence that was handed down from the Olympic gods…even if the sentence was rightfully earned by his evil brother’s transgressions. But it seems that all the paths that should lead him to Eurus turn up to be dead ends. On this night, however, he finds Eurus and also finds himself in a fight nearly to the death. Severely wounded and completely out of it, Chrys winds up crashing through Laney’s barn and into her life. Will she be able to heal not only his physical wounds, but also his burdened soul? Together, Laney and Chrys, along with Chrys’s family, must journey on a mission to find Eurus as the situation passes bad and heads straight into disaster territory. Eurus has gained too much power and must be stopped. Now, after helping Chrys heal, she unknowingly has a front row seat to otherworldly conflict. Will a human be able to withstand a clash between gods? Will a god be able to withstand the attraction and lure to a human? As you all know, I am a huge fan of Laura’s writing…and with this book she continues to earn her spot as a favorite author of mine. This story was told with such feeling and description that I honestly felt what Chrys and Laney were going through. I could feel Laney’s determination and perseverance, I could feel Chrys’s need for a resolution and the swirling emotions he has concerning his brother. The story line was exciting and well written. The back and forth between loving moments, terrifying fight scenes and defeated sadness was done with the perfect amount of each that ultimately gave a delicious balance to the story. I also appreciated the mythology built into the story and felt that was done equally well…it wasn’t overly explained and filled with more than necessary for the story line which sometimes happens when mythology is involved. Ultimately this story has everything I love in a book…I laughed, I had white-kuckled-ereader-gripping moments and I also cried…a lot. To me, that’s what a great story does for a reader….takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. South of Surrender was that, and more. Since I am not a fan of spoilers, I can’t give you much more in regards to what happens with Eurus and if they resolve their conflict. I will tell you that I am anxiously awaiting the next release in this series to see what is next for our favorite Anemoi family. It was so great to see our friends from the previous books…Owen and Megan, Zeph & Boreus. It was also wonderful to meet new characters that will undoubtedly be seen more in the future! Thank you, Laura, for yet another amazing story and for giving us Chrys *dreamy sigh*. I look forward to reading more from The Hearts of the Anemoi Series and, well, honestly, more of anything you have to write for us! *I received a copy of this book for an honest review

This is a great completion of 7 books by some great authors!
I have read several books by these ladies and they provide great steamy romance with twits of conflict. Always keep you reading and never want to put the books down.
