FLAME - Companion novel (can be read without reading the first two)

Carissa Wright doesn't do relationships.

Raised with a junkie mother and an alcoholic father, building relationships were far off her list. Rather, one night-stands were her usual.

Carissa has one constant in her life--her best friend Velaney. Completely opposite of each other, yet they balance each other out.

Although Carissa admits to only wanting sex and nothing more, will she allow the one guy who wants to break down her walls or will she run out of fear for finally letting her guard down?

She is unfamiliar with these feelings and wants nothing more than to walk away without a shattered heart. Will she be able to find the courage in order to turn her flame into a long lasting relationship?

With walls built up & emotions turned off, can she learn to put her heart on the line?
Or will each guy just be another flame?

Drew Finlay is a foreign exchange student from London. Studying abroad, he remains focused on school and football. It isn't until he meets Carissa that his consistent routine is interrupted. Knowing very well he'll be heading home in just a matter of months, Drew doesn't pressure Carissa into giving him more than she can give. However, once he falls for her...he isn't giving up.

Control, passion, and desperate.

He'll take her anyway he can have her...

What started out as highly entertaining turns very dark when Eric seems like a creepy stalker...Velaney, is very much the tease, encouraging Eric & Alex and then slams on the breaks.. Aiden was creepy & disturbing and by the time I got more then midway through the book, I wanted to scream at Velaney's behavior (I know she's just a fictional character) but was frustrated & I spent more time being annoyed then entertained.

Love this Series!!

I really enjoyed this series and was excited to see the Green Bay Packers made it into your book. Go Pack Go! I've read your books as Kennedy Fox and after reading those I am reading yours. Love the stuff you write! I highly recommend anything written by Brooke Cumberland and Kennedy Fox (Two authors collaborating which includes Mrs. Cumberland and Lyra Parish) Definitely read 'The Spark Series'! You won't be disappointed!!

I absolutely adored these books!! I mean - a swoonworthy firefighter with piercings and tattoos? YES please! Sadly, this is the first Brooke Cumberland book I have read even though I met her at a signing recently. But I have to say, it has taken me a few days to be able to write this review since I dove right in to 'The Intern' series as soon as I was finished. Needless to say, she has a huge fan in this girl! <3 I have signed up to be notified of any future books by this amazing author!!

Sometimes things feel forced or not authentic when you read a love story and it's one of my pet peeves. The story wraps up in the last chapter with no feeling of resolution or completeness. Not in this case at all. To me, there were very real struggles for these people. At times, I got upset with how Velaney reacted to situations by running rather than dealing with them head on. Although, by her doing that, you really got to see her growth as the books progressed. Sometimes it's easy to forget how young the characters are too when you are invested in the story line and that was true for me in this case so I think they probably reacted in a way that was authentic to the period in her life she was going through. So many twists and turns and things I didn't see coming that I never got bored or put it down without being forced to by life. :)

Then on to Drew and Carissa - what can I say about them - again a British accent with toned muscles and shaggy hair?!? Wow, can she write a leading man who makes you want to drool over him! Here are two girls with very different but both equally painful pasts and the sexy and devoted men who help them get through the darkness and find the happiness in life. LOVED. THESE. BOOKS. <3 Amazing job Brooke, now on to finish the Intern Series (OMG I adore Bentley!!) and then start on the Riverside Trilogy. It's official.....I'm addicted!

This is a great collection of three books by Brooke Cumberland. Spark, Burn and Flame were books that I absolutely loved reading. Velaney and Carissa are two women that have been through so much hurt and pain in their lives and you want to see them happy and in love. This is a great series that follows both women. I recommend this series for everyone.

I would give this series 4.5 stars. I enjoyed the characters and the love stories. The only one that sometimes frustrated me was Velaney. I wish she would have talked to Eric instead of always walking away.

Better than the rest

I would say it's better than its companion novels. In fact I really enjoyed the first half but then it just fell flat for me. I wish it hadn't jumped forward so much and just focused on the relationship in the moment.

It was an okay book

It was an okay book but the were some editing mistakes and that reference to Collins was very out of place in chapter 18!
