I'm shelving this book, not because it is necessarily bad, but because it's not exactly what I was expecting.
The book is a collection of short stories and the like from western literature, used to illustrate the different virtues the authors choose. I think this is a helpful format, but it's tailored for a much younger audience. Good, just not the most profitable reading for me, right now.
I do think I'll revisit it at a later date with my own kids, perhaps.
This deserves to be on everyone's bookshelf. Filled with short stories, speeches, songs, prayers, and poems. There is a slight bias towards Christianity and American patriotism. This makes it difficult to read through in certain parts. Yet, It's important to have an open mind.
Not a start-to-finish type of book. I read about 10 pages a day. For the most part, a wonderful collection of fiction and non-fiction prose, and plenty of poetry.
