This romantic suspense is the first in the Thorne's Thorns series. Rachel James is on the run with her small daughter after her abusive exhusband escapes prosecution and wants them back for their fortune. They find, what they hope, is safe haven with the Thorne's of Colorado. A loving couple with their own and adopted grown sons. Patrick Thorne wants nothing to do with another of his mother's charity cases after his first disastrous marriage where he lost his wife and unborn son in a supposed suicide, but Rachel brings out all his protective instincts. Someone is trying to sabotage Patrick's construction business, there is a serial killer on the lose and Rachel's exhusband is making serious threats.
This was a good story to start off this series. A lot is happening all at once and the characters have to be looking at everyone as potential threats while trying to overcome their fears and the obstacles to their HEA. The action was well paced and the characters were very realistic. I did have a problem warming up to Patrick at first, but the more you learn about him, you soon care about him and understand his actions. The threats were straight forward from the exhusband, but the serial killer was a good plot twist. I'll be interested in reading more of this series as the other Thorne boys find their HEA's after some more suspense, of coarse.
I received this ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Author K.L. Docter will create a following with her Thorne’s Thorn series, these e-books are one part mystery, one part romantic suspense and a whole lot of fun. The heart of any romance, no matter the sub-genre, is romance. A happily-ever-after ending, close the book with a genuine smile on your face and last minute tear-in-your-eye romance.
Reviewer Pamela Wray Biron says of the series’ first, “The characters are top-notch, and their gradual romance — entrenched in mystery and suspense — leaves readers sighing contentedly as the last page folds.
Killing Secrets is full of secrets, twists, turns and an evil serial killing villain, but at its heart, it is a tender, sweet romance. A deep, abiding love blossoms between two people who never would have met under normal circumstances. When they do meet, both recognize a connection—a bond nothing can break. I enjoyed watching Rachel and Patrick fall in love. I loved the wonder they felt as they slowly gave into their feelings. I loved the sheer romance of their relationship.
Rachel James’ ex-husband is released from prison determined to reclaim her and her little girl — his key to the James fortune. Frightened, Rachel flees to Denver with Amanda who hasn’t uttered a word since her father went to prison. There she meets Patrick Thorne, a hard-bitten cynic who wants nothing to do with Rachel at first.
His dedication to his contracting business left little time for his wife and he carries the lifelong heartache of losing both his unborn child and wife when she took her own life. After two years, it’s time to concentrate on the bid he has won and the saboteur trying to destroy his construction firm.
There is no room for trust in either of their hearts. Nevertheless, trust is all that will untangle the secrets that dominate their lives, free a little girl of her silent prison, and save them all from a serial killer who stands too close.
The author states, “I'm launching my romantic suspense career with these books (they're very different from my contemporary romances!) The next installments in this series are still untitled, but I prefer it that way. Before I title a novel, it’s more important to know my characters names and everything that makes then tick.”
In the next romantic suspense novel in the series, Killing Proof, readers will meet secondary character Ben Zancanelli, one of the brother’s in the Epilogue of Killing Secrets, who will take center-stage as the hero of book two.
K.L. Docter will continue her Thorne’s Thorn series for several more installments. While each Thorne’s Thorn story focuses on a different relationship where characters interact, involves the mystery or suspense of rescuing victims and bringing villains to justice, at the heart of each book is a love story - a romance. Two people brought together, sometimes under dire circumstances, who find that one perfect love that will last a lifetime.
So when will the newest Thorne’s Thorn books hit shelves? Fans can expect to download book one, Killing Secrets on April 17, 2014. Killing Proof, the second book in the series will not be released until late September 2014.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. a four, nudging the fifth, star read Killing Secrets is intense, K.L. Docter hooked me with a prologue that creeped me out and a first chapter that made me want answers before I had all the questions. Aside from my trip to the coffee pot, she held me captive with her narrative and rapid fire action. The pacing was tight, steady as a heartbeat, even when mine was racing. The glimpses of insanity chilled me so I actually felt the hairs on my body stand up. It was a brutally exciting read that I earnestly recommend for action/ suspense romance readers.
Rachel James and her daughter Amanda find sanctuary house-sitting in Denver but her hopes of security are short lived when her vicious ex-husband finds them. Reluctantly, Patrick Thorne is drawn into the equation. He has troubles of his own. There’s someone sabotaging his business and he’s not sure how much longer he can hang on. Even though his brother is a cop, construction site woes and vicious ex-spouses have to be prioritized against a serial killer that has already murdered three women with another one missing. Patrick has military training and despite his reservations of getting involved with distressed damsels, he’s willing to move back into the family home to protect Rachel and Amanda.
Neither Rachel nor Patrick is in a headspace to find their soul mate. Rachel’s had no time to process or heal, her daughter hasn’t spoken a word in six months and now she’s forced to stay put while her ex is prowling and the cops are trying to find him. Patrick’s dealing with potential financial ruin and emotional wounds that haven’t closed since his wife’s suicide two years ago. Six months after my divorce I was still not sleeping on the sofa with a baseball bat snuggled closer than my pillow. So, you’ll understand it takes a skilled hand to make me want to believe this case of true love is possible. Ms. Docter does achieve this. I *want* to believe.
The villains were really, really creepy. Not two-dimensional cut outs but freaking scary with a capital S. They never became mere tools. I appreciated the author’s respect for her readers in this regard. I did not find them more fascinating than the other characters, which can happen. Likewise the secondary characters were fleshed out just enough to give them life, pique my curiosity but not so much they took over the tale. There wasn’t much humor in this romance, but tension was relieved by the parents and siblings of Patrick. They also added to the conflict; secondary characters with dual roles makes me happy!
Rachel wasn’t a cardboard victim. She was entirely believable for me with a viable plan for her future that did not require a man and included help for her daughter. Her instinct to flight was not irrational but she listened, considered and did what was sensible in the situation. I did sigh over the fact she and Patrick were intimate five days after they met; it did cause more problems in an already insane situation, and was totally realistic, well, almost. Patrick was more difficult for me. I liked him at first but as the story progressed I had trouble believing Patrick had an overactive rescue the damsel gene as his family relentlessly claimed and he feared. Maybe it was more a matter of what he did with it that I didn’t fully connect with. Since personalities under stress are not consistent, I accounted for his back and forth reactions in this way.
I didn’t feel the resolve of the conflict that the mistakes Patrick made with his late wife, Karly were the same mistakes he was repeating with Rachel. It seemed to me most of Patrick’s guilt over failing Karly was actually anger with her for failing to be stronger, even after big revelations. I never got the feeling Patrick saw Karly’s inner strength or comprehended what she coped with. It made me question his future understanding for Rachel’s bad days. This facet of Patrick’s character prevented him from being a hero for me, personally.
Those feelings might have changed if there had been time for Rachel and Patrick to develop communication beyond the physical attraction conflict. They spent several chapters at odds, not talking and avoiding each other. With a four week, two day time line, that’s tough to take. Perhaps as the series progresses I’ll like Patrick again, I really want to. Rushing the HEA is all that prevented this from being a five star book for me. It was definitely a four, nudging the fifth, star read, totally worth the time and rollercoaster ride. I eagerly await the rest of the series.
This is my first Romantic Suspense book ever. I wasn't very sure at the beginning but honestly, I enjoyed Killing Secrets very much. I super liked the mix between suspense and romance because I didn't know what was coming next.
It is a book full of twists and turns. There is a lot of action going on so it keeps you entertained. This fast pace combined with a nice and catching writing made a great story.
About characters:
Rachel is awesome. She is brave and has a lot of spirit.
The villain is evil, as it should be. I'm a tad bit tired of those villains that are not so bad and you get a little attached... but this was not the case.
I felt bad for Amanda (Rachel's daughter) who hasn't spoken a word for months since her father went to jail. Her story is a nice addition.
The supporting characters were so interesting and perfectly developed as well. I want to know more and I've read somewhere that there might be a second book involving some of them (I'll be reading it for sure!)
Plot:
I liked how the circumstances lead to their encounter, those sad situations that ended up with them crossing paths and also how the romance unfolded.
The truth is that Rachel and Patrick's romance is so sweet but there is also tension so you want to know what happens next.
What I didn't like:
What prevented me from giving this book 5 stars were 2 things:
I'm not a huge fan of Patrick (there was something about him that felt like he was making the same mistakes over and over) and that the time frame could have been longer. Everything happened in around a month and I am a hopelessly romantic so I believe that for feelings to be true, they need a longer period to develop. (that's my humble opinion!)
Anyway, this was a great read and whether you are a fan of the genre or are just getting to know it, you'll enjoy it.
This book was hard to put down once I got into it. Good thing I'm on bed rest at the moment.
This is the first book I have ever read by this author. I am now asking myself why! I will certainly be remedying this.
Suspense with romance. Wow. So many details in this. I felt so sorry for the little daughter who went mute, refusing to speak. I so needed to find out why.
Its a great read, I absolutely loved it.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book. There was always something going on, keeping you going. I was guilty of "just one more chapter" more than one night. The characters were great & believable. I love books with fun siblings! So happy to see there will be more. It'll be a series I follow for sure.
This book was an exciting mix of romance and thrilling suspense. I loved every second of it – as the twisted web of lies and deceit slowly unravelled; page for page, chapter for chapter.
There were so many secrets and half-truths within the pages of this book, and each character was so amazingly defined, with a multitude of layers that were just waiting to be peeled away. From Rachel’s life on the run from her crazy ex, to the devastating lies she’d been led to believe regarding the child she protected with her life. And then there was Patrick, still getting over the guilt and anguish of losing his wife and unborn child, to the occurrences that threatened to destroy his business, as well as the tie in with serial killer.
Patrick was an amazing man. It was refreshing to crack open a book that had a genuinely good guy as the hero. He may have been a bit unsure at times, and his reluctance to get involved with Rachel made him act irrationally every now and then, but he was sweet, and caring, and just so wonderful that it melted my heart. The romance that grew between Patrick and Rachel was slow but passionate. Patrick was even amazing with Amanda – and who doesn’t love a man who can interact with children? Especially a child who was as withdrawn as Rachel’s sweet little girl. I loved Patrick the minute he stepped onto the pages of this book, but when he softened at the moments he engaged with Amanda I was done for; and it was obvious a connection grew between them, just as strong as the one that developed between him and Rachel.
This book was never boring, and I was riveted, on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next. Expect the unexpected because this book was not predictable in any way. There were times when I had to wonder if what was happening was the result of Greg’s obsession with Rachel and Amanda, or the work of the Angel Killer. This story was complex, and the many intertwining subplots kept it exciting throughout.
It's been a long time since I read a romantic suspense and K.L. Doctor's Killing Secrets was fantastic! Rachel has helped the FBI to put her abusive husband in jail. With her divorce papers intact, she takes her young daughter and flees to Texas, hoping to start a new life. But lost files at the FBI set her ex free. Knowing he will come after her and their daughter, Rachel looks to hide in Denver at the home of her mother's friend. There she meets Patrick, a hunk of a guy hoping to climb the ladder of success with his contracting business and free himself of the guilt over his wife's passing. But Patrick has a secretive enemy. Someone looking to destroy him both personally and professionally. And Rachel's ex has followed her to Denver, forcing her to accept help from Patrick and his family to keep her and her daughter safe.
Killing Secrets is an intricate blend of romance and suspense. Rachel and Patrick are perfect for each other in that both suffer from tormented pasts and need that special someone to free them from emotional bonds and push them back into the land of the living. But hot on the heels of their budding passion are two people intent on destroying them. K.L did such a wonderful job bringing to life Rachel's ex. So many times I wanted to crawl into the pages of the book and just smack him myself. Better still was the mystery surrounding Patrick. I felt sorry for him when it came to his wife taking her own life, and was thoroughly engrossed in trying to figure out who was out to destroy him. With a wonderful cast of secondary characters, plot twists and turns, action that would do a Hollywood movie proud, and an intense climax, Killing Secrets is sure to keep you as engrossed as it did me.
No shortage of villains in this suspense. From the start we know there is a sadistic ex husband just released from prison, a serial killer and a vandal who is escalating and may be more.
The series is about the Thorne family. Momma Thorne likes to take in those that need to be rescued. She had one biological son and adopted the rest. This series will be about all those sons. First up is Patrick who runs his own construction business and has been having a run of bad luck lately with someone vandalizing his sites. Patrick is also still emotionally recovering from the loss of his wife and unborn child. The last thing he needs is a woman and her child staying at his parent house on the run from an ex who wants to do her harm. But when the ex shows up he wastes no time in stepping up to protect her and they both fight the attraction they feel for the other.
Rachel James’ barely survived her ex-husband and her daughter hasn't spoken since that last beating. She thought he was going away for a long time but when he is released from prison just 6 months later she knows he is coming for her and her daughter.
There are lots of twist and turns through out like the real reason Rachel's ex wants her back, the reasons behind the serial killer and saboteur. Through out we meet the other brothers and see the set up for the next book at the end of this one.
Lots of twists in this book. How can one good guy have so much bad luck? I really liked that it has family strong connections with Mom in the centerpiece. This is clearly the first in a series of strong men with initial troubling beginnings but adopted into this group of hot and supporting brothers. I'd like to read more about these brothers and their potential spouses.
Rachel James must escape from her recently released from prison ex-husband. She moves across country to a friends home but her ex has been watching and she can't escape for long. Patrick Thorne lives next door to where Rachel is staying and is soon involved with protecting Rachel. But he and his construction company are under threat as well by a local serial killer. Is the killer after Patrick? His company? Or someone else?
Lots of circles, bad guys, twists and turns. Romance and suspense that was easy to get caught up in.
Rachel James is trying to stay two steps ahead of her abusive ex-husband and keeping her daughter Amanda safe. Rachel has a secret that if it was ever revealed she would lose Amanda and she will not let that happen. Will Rachel and Amanda ever find a safe haven for them to have a normal life?
Patrick Thorne is being threatened by someone who has a grudge against him and he doesn't know why someone would cause damage to one of the houses his company is building. And what he doesn't know could be a matter of life or death.
When Patrick discovers Rachel is staying at his parents home he immediately is distrusting and drawn to her. Can Patrick protect his heart from Rachel and can Rachel learn how love should be between two people who love each other?
Killing Secrets (Thorne's Thorns, #1) by Karen Docter
Rachel James and her daughter are running from her ex husband who was just released from prison. She goes to Denver where she is protected by the Thorne family. Patrick Thorne takes Rachel under his wing. Both have secrets in their past that bleed into the present. Neither one is very trusting. Add to it Rachels' daughter hasn't spoken since the day her father went to prison.
Will Rachel and Patrick be able to cope with their pasts? Will Rachel finally find safety and peace? A fast paced romantic thriller with likable characters and a lot of secrets and surprises. I really enjoyed Killing Secrets and feel those who love thriller-Romance will enjoy it as well.
This was a great thriller. There were times when I found myself hearing noises, and there were times that I wanted Rachel to get her happy ending so much that I was yelling at her ex to mess up and get caught. This story had everything I look for in a thriller. Bad guys that I hate, Good guys that I feel bad for, immediate peril for the targets, and a likable cop with a past. The author also threw in a dog and a traumatized kid. Things are not as they seem. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own. - See more at: http://dealsharingaunt.blogspot.com/2...
At first I wasn't that excited that the bad guy (Greg Bishop) caught up with her so quickly but you've got to introduce your bag guy pretty early on. Then I fell in love with Patrick Thorne as he is quite a catch and his family. I also loved how quickly Rachel grew a spine. K.L. kept complicating their lives and I loved it. I also loved the ending, it was like the cherry on top of a brownie sundae. (SPOILER) There is one thing I can't figure out; why would any judge award custody to a man who beat his wife and spent time in prison although he was released on a technicality. I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a great read, on so many levels...where to start. It was action packed, it was hot, it was intense, it was sad in places...tore my heart open, it was funny in a few places as well. A truly fabulous hero, my kind of guy. The Heroine was lovely, gutsy, courageous, spunky, and not only helped the hero, and her child, but found out what she was made of. This is a must read and I can't wait for the rest of the series....LOVED THE ENDING!!!
Killing Secrets is a well-written action-packed emotionally intense romantic suspense about a woman on the run from her abusive husband. The story is filled with compelling characters, in particular, the heroine, a mom, who shows us her heartbreak, guts, and courage. If you are looking for a suspenseful and romantic novel, I highly recommend this one. I'm looking forward to reading more books by K.L. Doctor. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Awesome story. Kept me up reading and wanting to see what happens next. K.L made the characters real and believable. There was no part of this book that seemed fake or made up. Bring on the next one.
Killing Secrets by K.L. Docter is the 1st book in her new series, Thorn’s Thorne. Killing Secrets is a mystery suspense romantic thriller from beginning to end. Rachel James is our heroine, and she has been hiding from an abusive ex-husband, who has recently been released from jail. Now Rachel is on the run, taking her young daughter to Denver to be under the protection of the Thorne family. Rachel knows she cannot stay too long in one place, as her ex always finds them, and when he does he will either kill her or kidnap her daughter. Young Amanda has not spoken a word since her father was put in jail for badly beating up his wife, as well as a friend of hers.
Patrick Thorne is our hero, who himself has a number of issues, becomes Rachel’s protector. In between keeping his promise to keep an eye on Rachel and her daughter, Amanda; Patrick is trying to work with his brother Jack to find out who is sabotaging his business. There is a killer on the loose, called the Angel Killer, who seems to be targeting Patrick.
Both Rachel and Patrick immediately find themselves attracted to each other. But both do not want anything romantic to develop. Rachel has no intention of staying in Denver for long, and does not want to endanger those who help her from her psychotic ex-husband. Patrick has still not gotten over the tragedy of his wife killing herself, and somehow feels responsible.
What follows is an exciting, tense story where Rachel’s life is in danger quite often, as Greg the ex-husband finds her. The Angel Killer is also close by, and no one knows who or why. In the middle of these scary scenes of danger, Rachel and Patrick can no longer deny their feelings for each other, and their relationship becomes one that will have you rooting for them. There is great chemistry between them, and it sizzles; but death, destruction and betrayal threatens to destroy them, with so many twists and turns along the way.
I do not want to give spoilers, other than to say this was a thrill a minute, with a lot of action, and excitement. Will Rachel be able to stop Greg, her ex? Who is the Angel Killer and why is he targeting Patrick? Will young Amanda ever talk again? Will Rachel & Patrick be able to survive and stay together? You will have to read this book to find out. K.L Docter has written a fabulous story in Killing Secrets that has everything: nonstop action, suspense, excitement, great characters, and a wonderful hot couple.
Killing secrets has it all; humor, passion, suspense, twists and turns that leave you wanting more. There are so many things going on in this book, but they work out to make a story you can't put down.
Rachel and her daughter, Amanda, has been running from her ex-husband since he beat her and her friend Simon put her back together and sent her off Texas to hide. However, she just found out that her ex-husband was getting out of jail. She knew he would be coming after her and Amanda. She had to run again. Her friend Kate made arrangements for her to hide at the Thorne's residence.
Next door to where Rachel is staying is the Thorne's son, Patrick, who is just recovering emotionally from his wife's suicide while pregnant with his child two years earlier. On top of that, someone is sabotaging his work sites. He doesn't have time for a beautiful woman, who haunts his dreams, and her troubles. However, when her ex-husband shows up and starts threatening Rachel, Patrick jumps to her rescue. Has he just signed his death warrant?
The rest of the book is how Rachel and Patrick get out from under the dark cloud of troubles. There is some major passion as well as sexual frustration between Patrick and Rachel. There are twists and surprises that you don't see coming. Overall, the book keeps you engaged and wanting to know what happens next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some romance and suspense all mixed in one!! One of my top books! Can't wait for book 2!!
I'd like to thank the author for a copy of the book and the chance to review it through the GoodReads First Reads program.
Nice thriller with loads of suspense to keep the story moving along. Being a battered wife for several years takes its toll on the main character. I was glad when ‘Rachel’ finally found her backbone to save her child.
Lots of twists and turns. Several obstacles to overcome. Strength and trust were constantly being tested. Will she/won’t she prevail? Definitely kept me reading till the end.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It is a "romantic suspense," long on suspense and with a few mild to moderate sex scenes and some sexual tension. The story begins with a prologue which introduces a serial killer. Chapter 1 introduces the heroine, Rachel Bishop, and her daughter, Amanda, who are running from Rachel's abusive con man/husband. Chapter 2 introduces Patrick, the hero and owner of a construction company, still in mourning two years after his wife committed suicide, and struggling also with someone vandalizing his construction projects. Chapter 3 moves into the point of view of Greg Bishop, Amanda's husband. So it takes a while for all of these threads to be woven together and the author is moderately successful in accomplishing this. Things fly quickly, though, but seem to wind up equally quickly and almost too conveniently. For instance, Greg is arrested, but a man he attempted to kill in California and who has been in a coma since Chapter 3, comes "out of his coma long enough to tell his wife where to find his safe deposit box. The next line is: "Bilking people of their life savings was now an afterthought." This sentence didn't make sense. The writing is sometimes repetitive, especially scenes where Patrick is reflecting on his love for Rachel.
Killing Secrets may be many things, but boring certainly isn’t one of them. Once author K.L. Docter’s tortuous tale of romantic suspense gets going, it seems like some new twist or turn is always lurking around the next corner, waiting to throw the reader for a loop.
At the center of the story is Rachel, a desperate abused wife, and her daughter Amanda, both on the run from their abusive husband/father. Add to the mix Patrick, a grieving widower whose pregnant wife committed suicide, and unexpected sparks of passion soon begin to fly. Complicating their burgeoning love affair, though, is a series of increasingly deadly events – but is Rachel’s husband behind the evil deeds? Or could another, even more evil party be responsible?
With all that happens in such a short period time, Killing Secrets has the potential to confuse some readers; however, Docter does a commendable job of interweaving enough suspense and mystery to pique the interest without distracting from the flow of the central story line. Furthermore, the characters are well put together and possess more than enough appeal to hold the reader’s interest until the very end. While there could have been more romance to go with the suspense (of which there’s plenty), Killing Secrets stands well on its own as an intriguing tale sure to leave readers wanting more. An enjoyable read.
This is my first time reading one K.L. Doctor’s books and I’ve found another favorite author! I couldn’t put the book down!!! Who doesn’t love Suspense with Romance?
Rachel James is on the run with her daughter Amanda trying to find a place to hide after the FBI messed up and released her abusive, lying ex-husband after she put him in prison. She ends up in Denver now not only worrying about her ex finding her, but now she is in the direct path of a serial killer bent on revenge.
Patrick Thorne after losing his wife and unborn child he never wants to marry again. He owns Thorne Enterprise and has been dealing with what he thinks is vandalism, which soon progresses into something much worse. A serial killer set out to destroy him for taking what the killer thought was his. However, he made a promise to his parents to keep an eye on the beauty and her daughter from a distance. After her ex shows up, he knows he must protect them at all costs. Will the police find her ex in time and will the killer be caught and brought to justice?
I cannot wait for the next book in the Thorne's Thorns series! Which brother will she write next?
Received a complimentary copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
Killing Secrets is the first installment of what promises to be a THRILLING suspense series from K.L. Docter.
Rachel James narrowly escapes her psychotic ex-husband, baby girl in tow, and hides in the only place she might be safe. After all, Evelyn Thorne and her family are in no way connected to Rachel or her past.
Patrick Thorne owns a construction business that is being systematically and thoroughly sabotaged. He doesn't have time to take care of his mother's newest charity case. But one look at her and he knows he won't stay away. Especially after he sees her being attacked in the front yard.
The chemistry in this book is unbelievable (and COMPLETELY real-world believable.) The romance is hot but not NC-17. The suspense is, in a word, terrifying. Not only do they have to ward off a psychotic ex-husband, but there's a serial killer on the loose!
This is definitely one for the keeper shelf AND I will be purchasing from this author in the future!
K L Docter knows how to write a romantic thriller. I read this book as a favor, (and a dare to me to branch out in my reading), and I will have to say I actually liked it.
Rachel is the unsure heroine with a complicated past.
Rachel’s ex, Greg, is the fixated villain with a single purpose, to get back what belongs to him, by any and all means.
Patrick is the reluctant hero, fighting his own demons but still trying to do what is right, for Rachel and himself.
Bait the hook.
Now Rachel has to make a hard choice: to run, to fight, or to fall in love.
Cast the line.
Either choice has danger or consequences.
Bammo, it’s too late. You’re caught. (So enjoy the read).
This book takes hold and doesn’t let go. The characters are flawed yet gripping. The plot has you on the edge of your seat and guessing to what comes next.
For me, the marriage of the romance genre with the thriller genre gave this a double impact, a warmth with an edge. Kudos to you K L Docter. You did yourself proud. I look forward to seeing more from you.
OK, I first should tell you that I received this book as a gift. Now, that said, this is the 3rd Karen Doctor Book I have read! I loved"Catch That Santa" , "Satin Pleasures" had me blushing! But this book, the Thorne's Thorn's Stole my heart! This book truly has it all! It's has the strong independent characters I truly love, it has drama, romance, suspense, comedy, charm, and HEAT! Did I mention it has HEAT???? If you are looking for a book you won't want to put down you have found it! I will be thrilled to find there is a volume 2 to this set and be happy to buy it! This book was hard to put down! For the 1st time in a long time I carried my kindle EVERYWHERE just in case I had 5 minutes to read! I highly recomend this book, it has a story line you will want to follow, enough charecters for a great story but not so many you get lost trying to follow it! You will love this book! Also I recently heard an enticing rumor that there may be MORE Thorne's Thorns books with a little encouragement to the Author! LETS LET HER KNOW We like this!
