In this second edition of Lead, Develop, Care, Terry Cook, an experienced leader, teacher and life coach, shares a practical leadership game plan for anyone who leads a company, a home, a team, a service organization, or some other type of group. Proven effective in a vast array of leadership contexts around the world, Lead, Develop, Care is the go-to framework every leader needs-and can put to use right away. It's straightforward and simple but powerful in its impact.
This book was very helpful in developing leaders. I gave I a 4 star rating simply because i needed s little more explanation on how to use the tools in the appendix.
Ive been looking for a book on practical leadership for years. Most of what I have read has been centered around Christian principles, which is great, but that perspective can be interpreted 1000 ways when scripture is involved. This may work for some, but for me, I needed concrete advice on how to lead, develop, and care for people. This book is a GREAT foundation for anyone leading a team.
My strength is lead. My stretch is develop. My struggle is care.
I lacked confidence in how to develop and care for people. But now I feel 10x more confident walking into leadership situations with my job. I thought I was a good leader because “lead” was my strength. But often, I missed some key points of leadership. This book really helped with that.
This book’s principles will be carried with me for the rest of my life. I loved it.
I read this book sporadically over the course of the year because my brain was often too tired or full to really absorb the material. After finishing it, I think this leadership model is highly practical and relevant for almost any situation. I have read many leadership books, so the concepts are not entirely new (there is a lot of overlap in the literature on leadership), but the way the topics are intertwined and explained makes them very approachable and beneficial. Lead, develop, and care are the three vital umbrellas all leaders should be living under, and this book makes those concepts easy to dissect and implement.
A solid book on leadership. It remains to be seen how easily the model with the different subsections is applied. One thing I really appreciate is that the author recognizes how vastly different leadership can look. So he draws his example from big companies, ngo style teams and even parenting. Made it quite well rounded
A solid and practical book about leadership. It's one of the better books designed for practical implementation. I intend to reference this book consistently over the coming months and years.
