In a single moment, Alexis Parker is transformed from private investigator to cold-blooded killer. With a bullet lodged in her side and a corrupt cop determined to silence her, she’s forced to do the one thing she never imagined – she must run. But running only makes her look guiltier.
When she signed on to safeguard her client’s nightclub from thieves, she never thought that twelve hours later she would be wanted for murder. Wounded and scared, she has to use all of her resources to evade capture. She even allies herself with criminals – the types of people she spent years arresting. But that was a lifetime ago, when she was a federal agent and everything was much more black and white. Now, she’ll take all the help she can get, regardless of where it comes from.
Alexis is almost out of time and leads. No one can corroborate her story, and the only proof of her innocence is the bullet she carved out of her flesh. As the infection worsens, she considers giving up because if the police don’t kill her, the fever will. Fortuitously, she encounters a man who promises to make her problems go away. He has evidence that can exonerate her, except it comes at price. Helping him could cost her everything, but reluctantly, she agrees. However, he takes advantage of her desperation, and the bodies soon pile up. When she attempts to defy him, he threatens her lover. Now she’ll do anything to get her old life back. With no where else to turn, she seeks assistance from her former colleagues, and they devise a plan for her salvation – become bait. If it works, life will return to normal, and if it doesn’t, police corruption will be the least of her worries.

Another wonderful update in Alex's life. This story kept me turning pages, wanting to see what would happen next. The plot was well woven with plenty of action, intrigue, and likable characters and realistic dialouge. Can't wait to see what will happen next.
Alex gets involved with the mob, at first by accident, then out of desperation, then to uncover them framing her.
She’s hired by a club owner who’s worried about being robbed after a series of club robberies. Then she’s shot when the club is robbed, and there are signs of dirty cops. It all gets blown up between cops and the OIO and FBI, until some very high ups can be caught.
Meanwhile, Martin helps Alex, gives her space, and is just there, and she finally admits she loves him, but doesn’t let him respond in kind, typical. Well written in the vein of these characters’ personalities.
Once again we follow Alexis down the rabbit hole of another non-stop adventure. This time she's accused of murder and doesn't know who she can trust. Don't want to spoil anything but something happens that puts her off her game and it takes awhile and some wrong turns to get things back on track.
I especially loved seeing her friendships grow as she starts to open up to those around her. I also enjoyed the interactions with Martin and seeing how their relationship is evolving. I'm sure this will continue with the next book.
Alexis is hired for a security job and ends up shot, accused of murder, and on the run. Martin is there for her, but as usual she tries to protect him by keeping a distance. It's one surprise after another as Alexis works to prove herself innocent and identify the real killer. Is a dirty cop the culprit? Is it related organized crime?
Each book in this series is as good as the one before. I'm enjoying the developing relationship between Alexis and Martin, as they learn what works for them both.
Another complicated episode in the life of Alexis Parker - fighting crime, fighting authority, fighting commitment, fighting herself. Issues with relationships, and trouble always at hand. Not to mention torture, injuries, gunshot wounds and backbiting from relationships. All without much sleep! A great adventure of intrigue, and an enjoyable read. Lots of imagination from the author, and some solid characters.
I have now read 1 through 4 of the series and I can only repeat my comments after the first book, i.e., Being a couple seems impossible between 2 workaholics with bullet flying and lots of personal baggage so it is memerizing to follow the evolution of the relationship between the 2 main characters. Other characters are also interesting as we follow their trails through murder and mayhem. I do notice and like the moments of humour.
I hate, stupidity portrayed by seemingly smart female characters
Really found the first three stories okay, with only a slightly connived plotline in places. Characters, okay, but having to move the plot line, along with a very stupid action by the heroine in book four actually made reading any further very strained. I have to put it down for a while, perhaps more tolerable later....again, a guy author who has women doing stupid just because. Ugh.
Great read each book gets better only you as the reader get more connected and intertwined with each character. The way they work together and care for each other and you still want to scream at Alexis just a little bit. I am once again anxious to start the next book
This was my favorite of the Alexis Parker books. She has truly developed in this book and is place in circumstances she would never see herself accepting. But desperation leads to difficult decisions. I enjoyed the author's portrayal of the decisions and the plot she set up.
Suspicion of Murder really threw me for a loop. I was not expecting that level of intrigue and suspense during the book, and it was amazing. I thought the heroine was great, and I truly loved how she handled things. I can't wait to read what happens next.
This is book four and I am still enjoying this series. Great characters and lots of action. I could not put it down! Alexis is a kick ass woman and it’s always nice to see a woman portrayed as being strong and independent. Look forward to the next story.
This is a book with lots of action!! It is never boring. Alexis is at the center of a big investigation and it's a doozy!! There's some romance and plenty of drama to keep you reading. Will continue the series.
The Alex Parker series continues to be interesting with a strong female main character. This book had just enough crime, drama, and personal relationships to keep you reading.
#4 in the Alexis Parker series. The saga continues as Alexis juggles corporate work with criminal work when she goes into hiding to dodge an accusation of murder.
This fourth book in the Alexis Parker series was quite interesting. Each book has surprised me with how Alexis’s story continues, never repeating any of the same content and keeping me on my toes.
i listened to this book., it probably would have been better to have read it physically. the accents for the characters were horrible. completely ruined the story for me.
These books are so incredibly well written, they are difficult to put down. And each one's ending makes you excited to get a hold of the next one. The characters are so well written and presented in depth. I highly recommend this author and these books!
I love this series more with every book. I loved the twists and turns and the evolving relationships. A great read that's really well written and easy to follow without being dumb. Enough action to keep me turning pages without being unrealistic. I can't wait to read the next one!
