Calyx didn’t mean to curse his brothers—really, he didn’t. After their mother died, their family scattered on bad terms, and Calyx lost his adopted brothers. It’s not too much to want them to come home for Christmas, is it? It’s not Calyx’s fault that, in his haste and grief, he cast a curse that would kill them if they didn’t. Besides, he managed to change the curse to something non-lethal. Griffith didn’t want to leave the house where he grew up, and he certainly didn’t want to leave Calyx, but his feelings were getting out of control. He needed space from Calyx to get over them, and he got that space. He also got an expanding Christmas-colored tattoo on his chest. Griffith knows Calyx meant well when he cast the curse, and while he’s happy to go home and see him, not all of their brothers will be. The problem is that they don’t have a choice if they don’t want to end up permanently colored in green, white, and red from head to toe.
Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters. She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back. She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.
DNF @49% ... well, I'm disappointed. This looked like a fun series, but I just can't with this writing. None of the brothers spoke to each other for the full year they were apart? No one even tried to reach out, and yet supposedly Griffith and Calyx were so close? Griffith walked out without a goodbye? None of them checked up on each other, and yet suddenly they all "have to" band together to go make sure... I don't even remember his name, lol. The half-demon brother is okay? It feels like all this and more have been designed to force the plot in a certain direction, without being true to any form of real characterization. I'm also not into the scattershot story taking the focus off any budding romance, which other than the tell-not-show info that each of our MCs is secretly pining for the other whilst assuming that their feelings aren't returned, we've seen neither hide nor hair of. Annnnyway, I'm cranky, lol. And this book isn't helping, so I'm out. 🤷♀️
