Capturing My Obsidian Heart

Rate this book
There are moments in your life that dig deep inside of you and alter you completely, sadly I have had a few of them.
One- life has shown me how cruel it can be.
Two- somebody took someone I love more than anything on this Earth.
Three- secrets of what blood runs through my veins have sparked trouble in my life.
I must battle between losing myself in grief over trying to find Andrea or harnessing the dark side of me. Blood will be shed, more secrets will be discovered, and I will find myself balancing the thin line between revenge and having no mercy.
I refuse to be a victim of greedy men who think they run this world; it is time to harness the life I have been swept into by its core. I just hope in the battle of finding Andrea and seeking revenge- that the two men I have come to share a piece of my heart with don’t get burned in the process.

Hello!
I wanted to share a little about me. I am a huge book loving nerd- I read all kinds of genres. Definitely a mood reader! I just released my debut novel Unmarked Grave and am currently working on a couple more books. I have ADHD and am bouncing around the two stories- so I am also a mood writer!
I love all bookish things, but I am also a mother of three and I work full time in the Emergency Room as a tech. I keep busy and I do not know what a day off is. I am socially shy, but pushing myself out there and I am very excited to embark on this new journey!

This book!! Oh my goodness this book!

In Book One you are left with a very suspenseful cliffhanger and boy does Book Two not disappoint on letting you know who has GROWN and is ready to conquer! Of course you connect with Amelia on her new found natural instincts and just how ruthless things can get when you mess with someone’s cub no matter who you are even blood. Revenge is best served HOT and why not in a head to toe leather ensemble that drives your man WILD while he admires you serving up some revenge. Your heart will be broken, you may cry but this is a Happily Ever After and Sierra puts your heart right back together as new members join a very loyal and loving wolf pack. Now with all the heart break and revenge this book does not fall short when it comes to some very spicy behavior and you will eat it up!

Once again, Sierra Marie broke my heart and then put it back together. I wanted to throw my kindle half way through the book.
Capturing My Obsidian Heart is mafia, MFM, why choose, touch her and ☠️, tale of learning to love, overcome secrets and lies, new found family, revenge, and spice to top it off.
I would absolutely recommend this book. You do need to read Over My Obsidian Heart first. And check your trigger warnings.

What can I say...I am still all up in my feeling about this book and the previous book as well.

Amelia is someone who has survived a childhood that no one should even have to survive. Then walks in Barnette, who brings her into a world that she refused to join but over time grows and becomes the women she so deserves to be. Having the love of Barnette is one thing but the love of Dean is a whole different beast. Having two men that love you in different ways makes for a trio any girl would be jealous of.

After Andrea, Amelia's daughter - the product of an assault when Amelia was a child, is kidnapped by her sperm doner, this is when events start to happen. At the same time, Amelia's sperm doner comes into the picture and all hell breaks. When this happens, Andrea is found, Andrea's her sperm doner disappears, and Amelia's sperm doner wants to make a truce. That goes just as good as you would expect...NOT!!!

While, trying to get revenge on Andrea's sperm doner, a member of the trio is lost. Amelia and Barnette are heartbroken, but Barnette takes it harder then one would expect from a broody and bad ass that he is. Disappearing to The Office, Barnette disappears into himself but Amelia is not having this. She shows up and with the help of her partner in crime, Derrick, she give Barnette a show he will never forget and this brings him back to life.

Amelia and Barnette locate Andrea's sperm doner and what Amelia does to him make my dark heart melt. Knowing that Dean would want them to be happy, Barnette and Amelia get married and just as they are in the process of looking for revenge against Amelia's sperm doner, someone they lost returns with a late wedding present.

While I wish this story never ended, I am happy it ended the way they did. I am longing for the story of Dean from the time he went down to the time he returned from the dead. Sierra has become one of my favorite authors and her writing hits you in the soul you didn't know you needed.

Please remember that some content in this book is not for everyone so make sure to read all the trigger warnings (heavy on child SA). Your mental health matters and it is ok not to finish a book if the subject matter becomes too heavy.

The duet is a mafia dark romance with arranged marriage, found family, mental health representation, multi pov (which I love), revenge/bad ass fmc and my favorite part being why choose/poly vibes with a broody enemies to lovers/touch her and die MMC as well as swoon worthy and incredible sweet MMC that are like best friends/brothers to each other. I’m telling you this duet has it all in the best way possible. It is dark and these characters have to face their demons but it was such a wonderful experience to witness how much they heal and overcome their past traumas. The spice is so good and definitely turned up a notch in book 2 which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m telling you, you do not want to miss out on this duet. It is so good. As always, please check the TW before reading. Sierra truly poured her heart into these books and it really shows. I had to stop myself from tearing up many times because I was just so proud/emotional of these characters throughout their journey. Thanks again Sierra for the wonderful opportunity.

Just as good as Over My Obsidian Heart! Loved every second of this book. Never once did I feel like anything didn't belong. The characters continued to win me over. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. The romance gets kicked up a few notches!🥵 Meli is absolutely amazing! Fiery but also sensitive...a good balance of the two. And the ending...I couldn't have asked for anything better.

She’s done it again.
Sierra had strings pulling on my heart, let it fall into pieces and patch it up. Again.

CMOH is the second book in The La Caída duology, and if you haven’t read the first one, Over My Obsidian Heart. Start with that! It will all make sense 🖤

Just like book one, this novel is one written with gripping emotion. Secrets are answered, twists (god that ONE twist though 😮‍💨) and an absolute perfect ending to the turmoil it brought me.
Meli promised us rage, and she brought it with FEMININE STRENGTH & SASS!!
Queen of The La Caída ❤️‍🔥

There is a scene where I literally had to reread it multiple times for my head to register, and my breathing to slow down.

I adore Sierra’s writing so much. Each novel she has put out is nothing but brilliant. I’m excited to see what her future WIPs are because I’m always left just in awe.
I always read the author notes and I resonate so much with her words. 🖤🖤

Thank you again @sierrasbookobsession 🖤

After the kidnapping of and Andrea, Barnette, Dean, Derrick and Amelia are determined for her safe return. Guaranteeing her safe return turns out to be much more problematic than expected. After a dramatic turn events everyone’s world is turned upside down. Revenge has consequences, but did they come at a cost to high this time?

🖤 Mafia Romance
🖤 Found Family
🖤 Why Choose (MFM)
🖤 Second Chance Romance

After the cliffhanger in the first book, I was so excited to read the second part of the La Caìda Duet. I absolutely loved this found family when reading the first book and nothing changed in the second. The group dynamics between a found family of brothers is one of my favorite elements to read in a why choose. I think it makes such a great read. As much as I wanted Derrick involved, I did really like the dynamics to have him as a friend to the three and I loved seeing that more in this book. This book definitely took you on an emotional rollercoaster. Definitely, hard to review without giving too much away, but a great read!

Tropes:
mafia, arranged marriage, kidnapping, touch them and die

Amelia our FMC is a badass who had the literal definition of a terrible childhood : drugs, violence, abuse, sexual abuse, etc. She has found love in the arms of Barnette who is definitely not a squeaky clean good guy. He is in the business and his brother in arms Derrick is also in love with Amelia. In capturing my Obsidian Heart, she will face some of a mother’s worst fears for her children, while also facing her own fears from childhood. Will she be able to save all her loved ones and keep her obsidian heart beating or will this be a heart break?
I liked the book overall, but I didn’t love it I can’t see myself rereading it but I would recommend it if that person was looking for the tropes this book has or this fits their reading preferences. I didn’t read book 1 prior to this and I definitely recommend doing so, you could read this as a stand alone like I did but the back story and character development took place in book 1 so it felt like small details were missing. I personally loved the banter from the side characters more than the main characters. I would love to see more books in this universe for like Marisol and Amelia’s BFF!

I am so incredibly sad that this duet is over with, but I am just in awww with how amazing book 2 is!!!

This book had me laughing, giggling, crying and all out bawling!! The feelings, the emotion, the twist and turns and the unexpected plot twist hit me right in the gut.

The story leaves off from book 1, and Amelia, Barnette, Dean and Derrick are on a mission. SEEK REVENGE and revenge they will seek. Of course, this revenge will come with consequences that will change everything for everyone. Truths are finally revealed, people get hurt, and some people get exactly what is coming to them teeheeee.

Love the growth between Amelia and Barnette. ABSOLUTELY LOVE how Amelia continues to be a strong FMC and holds her own. She amazed me more and more throughout the book. The spice was spicing for sure in this book and I was eating it all up!!!! Who doesn't love a good throuple.

I highly recommend this book. Definitely one of my top reads of 2024!!

Sierra sure knew how to mess with my emotions with the second part of the La Caída duet. She really said hold my boba, this book is going to make you cry. That said, I absolutely loved the duet. Amelia, Dean, and Barnette all have my heart.
We see Amelia be even more badass in this book, take her revenge, and serve it cold. There were so many moments in the book just that made me say “women” and “yes ma’am.” She does not need a man to strut her stuff. (Although she has two men who love her wholeheartedly, and she loves them both as well).
The La Caída Duet will always have a special place in my heart as a dark mafia romance, and also the first book I’ve read with why choose vibes (by the way I loved it I want more why choose now, gimme gimme gimme).
Sierra Marie, thank you for writing a beautiful duet and for allowing me to be one of your ARC readers. You’re an obsidian pebble in a sea of crystals, for sure.

🖤 “Two obsidian pebbles in a sea of crystals."

This. Was. So. Good! It picks up right where the last book left off. Amelia continues to be a total badass throughout this book and really comes into her own while standing up for herself and protecting her family. I love that we get to watch the group deal with the aftermath of the last story and continue to watch Barnette's cold exterior crack a bit. The twist was AMAZING. If you loved the first book you're gonna want to add this to your TBR immediately!

I'm so appreciative of Sierra for choosing me again to be an ARC reader for this book!

📖 This book was an ARC, but the review is my own and is no way influenced by the author or publisher.

📢 PLEASE read the content warning at the start of the book.

Woah!!! I felt like this must have been SO therapeutic for Sierra to write. There were times throughout where I could just tell it was a form of healing and I was like “YEA GIRL!”

This book totally brought the fire that we so desperately craved from the cliff hanger of the first book. I love how this mafia book was written from a more sensitive and emotional point even from these big bad mafia dudes. We got to see their pain, their traumas, and also their desires and it was really cool because most books don’t offer that perspective.

We got to see more of who Barnett was this time and o felt far more connected to his character. I also lovedddd that Amelia was able to show her strength and exact a bit of revenge as well.

And Dean… he had me heartbroken! This book was full of plot twists and the ending was amazing! This book was a wild ride and I was here for it!

Thoughts 💭

Just the start on the book I was invested. The way the author just drags you into the story making you feel like you can’t put the book down. This book has so many twist and turns that I didn’t expect. I think one thing only to get surprised by another thing. The way she made Amelia become the queen that she is. I enjoyed the little power swap in one of the scenes. Makes me all giddy! And how even through all this heart heart she has found a way. Everything in this book I was not expecting, to the tragic scene all the way to the end and how it pieced my heart back together

This book was such a roller coaster. So many emotions! Before reading this plz check your triggers!!! This is book 2 and picks up where book 1 left off. The ending of book 1 has me devastated. I figured her dad had something to do with it but I wasn't expecting Matthew to come back in the second book. I was glad to see he got what was coming to him. I loved the characters in this book and Dean was my fav so when he got hurt I was devastated. If you want a book that will have you in your feelings read this book!

This book picked up the story of Amelias life right after the kidnapping of Andrea. It follows Amelia and the three guys Barnette , Dean and Derrick on their mission to get Andrea back and get revenge on the people who have hurt them.

What an emotional roller coaster this book was. My heart have melted and been broken, I have laughed and cried.
There is a good blend of action and spice. I was a little bit scared to start this book, because what if it didn’t live up to the first one? But I didn’t need to worry because every loose thread has been tide up, and the ending was beautiful ❤️

Oh my gosh! I believe these two books have now become my new favorite dark mafia romances I have read to date!!! The spice! The revenge! The heartbreak! Sierra has seriously out done herself and I cannot wait, (and I mean seriously wait) to see what else she comes up with in the future.

If you’ve read book one, definitely read book two.

And if you haven’t read book one yet, do it immediately!!!!
