This would have easily been 3 stars however those errors. I don’t know how an author can’t remember a city she made up 😒. Also it was predictable as fck 😒
This was an interesting story, I can’t recall reading a romance with this angle. Bron was a fun MMC to read, he wasn’t hearing nothing June was saying. And I ate every bit of it up.
I saw some found June to be annoying, I can see why. But to me she wasn’t annoying. No one was as annoying as Patrick “Can’t take a hint” Rudolph and Box ignorant behind.
The only reason I’m rating this 3 stars is the errors disrupted the flow at times. And I wished the ending wasn’t so abrupt. All of the focus on their differences and we end like that. HEA-ish?!
But the overall story was 4 stars. I loved the characters and dynamic and jest of the story.
Listen, June really tried to fight her feelings for Bron because, you know, her job being a detective and all that. Sis was out here giving herself pep talks like, “He’s the prime suspect, girl. Focus!” But how you gonna focus when the man is fine fine and clearly into you? Bron wasn’t just looking guilty of murder; he was guilty of making June’s heart skip a beat.
The tension was thick, the stakes were high, and June was out here breaking all kinds of professional rules. And Bron? Oh, he love him some her. This man was ready to risk it all.
This book ate so bad, I’m giving it a full 5 stars. The drama, the romance, and Bron’s fine self had me hooked from start to finish.
I've been waiting for this book to drop for months now. Ever since she dropped the cover and blurb back in June(no pun intended) I've been obsessed with getting this book in my hands. I'm happy to say, it was a very thrilling ride.
The book is about June Butler, a police detective determined to solve the murder of an informant named Crockett. June suspects it was Bron aka Killa who killed him because they were best friends and Crockett snitched on him and their other friend Box to the feds. Upon meeting Bron, June starts to feel conflicted. On one hand, she wants to solve this case and give the family justice on the other she's incredibly attracted to a man who might be a murderer.
I loved this book. Bron and June's chemistry was off the charts. Sparks flying everywhere. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse dynamic of their relationship. Bron had a mouth on him.A very filthy blunt mouth. He was so out of pocket with the things he said to June. He kept me laughing the whole time. Poor June was struggling between being professional and her intense attraction to Bron. The sex scenes between theses two were so good. They've definitely become one of my favorite couples. Bron did not play any games about her.
I also loved that June was very dark skinned. I mean really dark. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of urban romance or black romance books period with really really dark skinned women. I'm hoping that changes one day but I do appreciate K. Nicole for giving us a a really dark skinned woman who is not only secure in her skin but also has a man obsessed with it.
Again, I really liked this book and it wouldve been a 5 star read if not for a few things. First and foremost there were grammatical errors littered all through the story. Secondly, K. Nicole constantly using the word globes when talking about the characters eyes. I don't understand where she was going with that because the word doesn't fit. Just say eyes it's ok because globes wasn't giving. At all. Thirdly that ending...all I have to say is wtf was that. It was so abrupt and random. She didn't mention anything about a pt 2 but I'm hoping she gives us one because it read like a cliffhanger and again was very abrupt and lackluster. I didn't like it at all. The book should've been a bit longer. It wouldve made the ending better but again, hopefully we get a pt 2.
Overall, issues aside this was still a really good read and well worth the wait imo.
Definitely a different storyline. I just knew she was going to go bad!! Or she was going to find out and arrest him. I’m go glad I was wrong! And let me tell you…. This man did not play around with her. I said I want you and imma get u
“June” had the potential to be a 5 star book and really for the following reasons it instead became a 3.5 but I rounded it up to 4 stars due to its potential.
— grammatical errors: this needed an editor real real bad and I’m annoyed at how many times the city’s name alternated from “Dreamville” to “Dreamview”.
—repeatedly referring “eyes” as “globes”.
—June was supposed to be this great detective but literally didn’t consider a single different suspect and decided to put all her eggs (and kewtchie) in one basket even though there wasn’t a shred of evidence either way in the case.
—the ending: anticlimactic, lazy, rushed and overly predictable. We deserved better and more of an epilogue at least.
Despite these things it was a good read but fixing the above would’ve made it top tier.
I enjoyed this. Bron and June were an interesting pair. Both on two very different ends of the spectrum but somehow drawn to each other like magnets. Bron was by far my favorite character in this book. He had his mind set on Ms. Officer. June was fighting for her life trying not to give in to temptation. I loved the initial push/pull between them. I wish the epilogue was longer but I still had a good time with this story. The one thing I’m confused about was Box. Was he in love with Killa? Cause ain’t no way he should’ve been crashing out like that about June.
I enjoyed this romantic suspense. I like that it was also urban fiction.
It was a bit predictable and easy to follow but that wasn't a bad thing here. While we knew what the end game was going to be, it still kept me entertained enough to want to see how the ending unfolded.
My only hiccup were the errors, and the formatting. I feel like it took away from the story because I found myself having to reread and mentally correct to push the story forward.
Unique plot but I wish it would have gone through another round of editing.
This was a great read I was a little nervous about it because this is different from K. Nicole other books that I’ve read but I love it as well so proud of June
I think this is the first time I've read a Thriller/Crime Thriller where the cop was a "regular" Black girl and I ate this up.
Bron did NOT play about June and NGL... I was rooting for him to get away with it the entire time lol If you like your "romances" to have a little more plot and thrill in addition to the spice... You'll like this.
This is a great bridge for the thriller girlies who want to dip their toes into some mannish, freaky thugs lol
I didn’t know what to expect with June but let’s just say with K Nicole expect the unexpected. This book kept you on your toes because you’re trying to figure out how these 2 can be without Bron getting the short end of the stick and everything blowing up in June’s face. Y’all the ride was wild and steamy.
As much as June and Bron tried to fight liking each other it was inevitable. Baby June had neva met a man like Bron and we already knew based on Bron’s track record that no woman had ever made him feel anything outside of his mama. Watching the way June tried to stay focused on the case and get close to Bron was comical because there really was nothing to find. The more time they spent together, the more they realized there was underlying feelings between them.
Now we knew this was a bad thing cause June was the opps BUT what can you do when you’re falling for the bad guy without even trying and you’re trying not to because it could cost you your career. Baby, I’m pretty sure June was like phuck it. It is what it is. Because when it was all said and done the man Bron was for her and to her, basically superseded her potentially having a case against him.
Bron met June and didn’t come up off her. He didn’t play about HER, and he damn sure wasn’t letting anyone or anything come between them. Watching how Bron came behind June and her not knowing how to handle it was priceless. Bron and June was never suppose to happen BUT it did and it came hard. It was the snakes in the grass that took me by surprise cause how you jealous of your own friend and how you still want someone who you can’t even satisfy. Chyyyyyyyy!!
Thank you K Nicole!!! This was worth the wait and I hope we can get an update about Bron and June later on. This was a good read and so cute. It gave the feels and I loved it.
This one dimensional tale was boring and dragged. The ending was abrupt and the choice for a partnership seemed illogical? How do you stand ten toes deep against your boy being with an op then snitch and partner with an op yourself? It felt like even the author bailed out jumping into an Epilogue that left so many questions unanswered. I still know who shot Box. The reader got "pow" with two people pointing their guns at the same target. If she fainted in his arms with sirens blaring and he only got a gun charge, the presumption is her gun shot the hater since it also shot dude in their shootout.
From chapter one the execution of a good concept was questionable. Why incriminate your parents?
There is no explanation given for Arnell being in a relationship with Box.
Being told you a great Detective when multiple rookie investigative mistakes are made at the crime scene and entire investigation. The spelling and grammatical errors are plentiful and disturbingly sad. Why were flowers delivered to Jade Butler to June Butler's office? In this time of spellcheck and Grammarly, it just disrespectful to the craft and audience. Can I be a pilot and not know how to fly a plane? Don't try to convince others that you are an author if you don't respect words enough to how to spell and use them.
#annieethebookiee is back and she just finished June.
Omg 😳 June was hands down one of the best 📚 she's read this year.
@authorknicole wrote the ink out the 🖊️ with this one 🔥
Bron and June's chemistry was A1 from beginning to end. The fact that regardless of what everyone else thought or felt the two were drawn to each other. June was a dominant woman 👠 but when it came to Bron she would submit easily 👀.. he was fine 😍 he held his own and stayed standing on business... Lol 😆 my man my man..
Instant book bae 🤎🤎
Anyway, with the ex's tripping, friends hating things always work out and you never know who's plotting again you... I want them to have a HEA ♥️... WILL THEY?
#woahhaveyouread download your copy today this was a great read I highly recommend it 😁
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️/5
P.s. Bron is definitely that man 🤐👀😂 okay bye 😂
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was playing the role of a detective who was falling for the guy who was a suspect in a murder case that I was investigating.
Review 10/10 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Lil Wayne: I got stop by a lady cop and she read me my rights, excuse Ms. Officer lol 😂 Bron was bat shit crazy but fell for officer June real bad!! June tried to play the part but failed and got caught up in Bron web of lust and delusions. It was something about June that had the men going crazy for her especially June Ex Pat! That man was hooked and obsessed with June to the point he was stalking her. One thing she had right was Bron best friend was one of the men who jumped her all because he was jealous of Bron and now he’s dead 👀😳Bron told him if you keep messing with June I’ll end your life and that’s exactly what happened
June is a methodically siren. As soon as she stepped on the crime scene it was on. Her mind was connecting the dots. What she didn’t bank on was falling for her number 1 suspect.
Killa (Bron) got his name in the streets honestly. He never expected that he would have to pull the trigger on his closest friend. He also never expected that the detective working the case would imprison his heart.
Baaaabbbyyy Killa applied pressure when it came to June. He didn’t care at all that she thought he was the killer. All he knew was that she was his and he felt that deep in his soul.
The ending got me because I never would’ve guessed that her ex, Patrick was that crazy.
December Read: June by K. Nicole ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. MMC June Butler, a police detective, was determined to solve the murder of an informant named Crockett. June suspects that it was Crockett's best friend Bron due to Crockett potentially snitching on Bron & their other close friend Box. Upon the development of the case, June starts to fall in love with Bron & becomes conflicted in wanting to slove the murder case or falling in love with the number 1 suspect. I loved the storyline for this book. More importantly, I loved the MMC. The plot twist at the end was amazing. This definitely could have been a longer read, but overall, it was really good.
June was definitely an interesting character, but I’m not she I liked her much. She was extremely torn on what to with Bron—well as far as the relationship. I’m not sure how she thought she’d be able to close her case with all unprofessionalism she displayed. That said, Bron was def delusional, but for good reason. She was picking up what he was putting down.
What was Box’s deal though? I get being suspicious, but to hold that much anger when she wasn’t even investigating him as much was weird. Patrick was egotistical, and that’s all.
June is the lead detective whose trying to solve a homicide & Bron is the lead suspect. June comes up with a brilliant plan to try and get close to him so that she can get information to see if he had anything to do with the victim’s death. Lo and behold, Bron is a force to be reckoned with; June did NOT stand a chance… Bron turned my girl every which way but loose! She had no choice but to submit and enjoy all things Bron & the way he stepped behind her & protected her!? BDE!
This story was a fun read! I thought the plot of it all was great! With the grammatical errors, I cringed because they were excessive. However, I think this story may have had a better feel for me if it was a novella or even a novelette. There was a part where June asked Bron what his passion was and the conversation went no further than that and I was left wondering. With the ending, I see how everything ties together which is why I think this fits the mold better for something shorter but a GREAT set up for a part 2!
I absolutely loved this book. Murder mystery in more of a sense of figuring how the story will come together. Between a jealous ex and a jealous friend how can two completely different people melt their souls/lives into one?!! Well you're going have to read it to find out. Go Miss June😜
A good 4 stars only because there are a few grammatical errors that had me a little confused for a second or two.
This was a good book. I enjoyed the back and forth between the two leads. I also found there were a lot of funny moments as well. There were grammatical errors, but they didn’t distract from the story completely. There were also plot points that were predictable; but overall this was a cute and quick read. This was my first time reading this author and I would definitely read another book by her.
My rating is closer to 3.5. Some editing needs to be done & although the ride is nice, it's very predictable. The cover eats down and I've never read an enemies to lovers story with this angle so I was expecting more than the book delivered. With the said, the chemistry between June & Bron was dope and I was smiling the whole time because Bron had his own agenda and wasn't tryna hear anything June was saying. It gave when he wants to he will.
First & foremost, the grammatical errors in this book were ridiculous. It's hard to get through a book when every other page throughout the entire book is either spelled wrong or makes no sense.
Pushing that aside the story was okay. I felt like the book dragged out. I assume to keep it suspenseful but it was predictable. Every book isn't for everybody & this one wasn't for me.
He was the killer, and she was the head detective of the case. Already on opposites ends of the law, what was supposed to be strictly a setup to getting a possible confession to the murder ended up being a setup of unexpected true love.
Yeah! This was good. I enjoy a little slow burn in any capacity that it is written. June was as stubborn as they come trying to delay and prevent the inevitable but Bron persistence was the perfect match.
LOVED IT! June was a freaky detective that just wanted handled properly 😚. Bron was the perfect suspect for the job lol. I hope there is a Christmas special on these 2. I don’t typically read books involving police. June was not your typical detective….This author never disappoints so you already know this is a must read.
I enjoyed every single word and single page of this book. K. Nicole never disappoints me. She pulled me right in from the beginning. I loved everything about Bron and June and how their story unfolded. I wish the story never ended. But, definitely a beautiful story.
Funny how we can’t control who we fall in love with. This book is a testament to that statement!! I enjoyed the character development. Falling for the wrong one just might cost you your career or your heart 💗 This book was thoroughly enjoyable. I want to see more of Bron & Detective June !! I ❤️ them!! Blessings Ms. K.Nicole 🙏🏽
