Trapped Between Betrayal and a Wolf's Desire. It was supposed to be a nice night at the office charity event—until I spot my fiancé standing too close to the woman he cheated with. In an instant, everything spirals out of control. What began as a celebration ends in flames, and amidst the chaos, a massive wolf appears.
The real shock comes when the beast shifts into a man and carries me off into the dark woods. Now, I'm stuck with a handsome stranger who insists I belong to a world I never knew existed.
Find out how it all plays out in this short story.
This was the first book by Melody Lynch that I’ve read. Lowkey I was bored, but I was also intrigued. I’ve been in my paranormal bag lately, so I was interested in seeing how the werewolves operated and how Sheba would adjust to life with them.
There’s not much romance in this book. It starts off with Sheba being in a loveless, verbally abusive relationship with Tyson/Tyrone and then it ends with Sheba getting with Kenyatta. Most of our time is spent learning Sheba’s background and with Sheba being berated by Tyson/Tyrone and tbh it was too much time.
Sheba’s time with Kenyatta felt very rushed, and the ending did too. The “romance” between Kenyatta and Sheba was very much like “hey we’re mates…ok…we kiss…we have sex now” 😒 I mean Kenyatta did save Sheba’s life and nurse her back to health but I wouldn’t categorize that as romantic.
And what was the point of introducing Hailey and Derek as characters? Did the rogue wolf that attacked Sheba die in the battle? Did Sheba ever return to her job? Why was the charity auction even a thing? How is Kenyatta handling the fact that he killed Theo?
I really didn’t understand what was going on in this book. The storyline involving the property just evaporated into thin air. What happened with the developers? What’s going on with Sheba and her powers? How was she able to hear the wolves? As for Tyrone, I know he passed away, but it feels like we just skipped over that accident entirely. Additionally, the relationship (and I use that term loosely) between Kenyatta and Sheba was poorly executed. There was also a missed opportunity to explain why the wolves are in their animal form most of the time; that aspect was fumbled. Overall, this book definitely needed to be more than 85 pages to effectively tell the story. So many opportunities were overlooked due to what feels like lazy writing.
Come on Sheba and Kenyatta!! I love Sheba choosing to never give up, even in the most lethal situations, she still has fight left in her. Kenyatta coming in and letting her know she never has to fight alone, is chef’s kiss! I love how protective he was of her. That one line, you are my beginning and my end!! That line ate!! I loved it! Happy Tyrone was dealt with because he had to go! Talking to her the way he did.
The story was somewhat stiff and generic. Why are those wolves after her? Why are they living so desolate? Why didn’t Sheba feel any sparks when she met him? I also thought it was odd that shifters and wolves all integrated. The writing definitely got sloppier as the story progressed. And why is the book names Dark Moon?
A good quick read! The story was well written and worth my time reading! Looking for to more books from the author. But I was disappointed that the story offer at the end about the three brothers and their women was not available. I would like to know the title of that story.
