Edgy suspense with a very sick arsonist out for revenge playing a deadly game of chess with fire. If your not hooked from the first chapter then I don’t think suspense in your genre. The book moves along as quickly as the fires set in it. My only complaint would be I would have loved an epilogue.

This book started out okay, but grew progressively more frustrating the further it went. The "heroine" is incredibly annoying and really rather stupid -- there are so many obvious pieces and clues that they take forever to put together, and she's incredibly reckless and apparently has no ability for self-preservation. This book also has some editing issues that should have been worked out. Overall, not a satisfying read. I recommend Nora Roberts' Blue Smoke for a similar serial arsonist storyline with an actually intelligent heroine and a sizzling romance.

The Last Move is a fascinating look into the heart of an arsonist and an edge of the seat thriller. Arson investigator Katie Sullivan is determined to hold Sheriff Drew Winters at arms length while she gets to the bottom of the mystery. The Chessman killed her father and now he’s after her. Katie will do whatever it takes to find the twisted killer and see justice done. She doesn’t need protecting ,and besides, Sheriff Winters wants to play by the letter of the law. Katie only wants revenge and she doesn’t need the conflicting emotions the hunky sheriff stirs up to sidetrack her from her hunt. I was up until 2:00 am finishing this story. It’s not one you will be able to put down easily.

Good weekend read. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery . The characters were believable and interesting. Excellent! Couldn't put it down until the end.

Good knowledge of the inner workings of fire departments and arson investigations. I think it would make a great movie.

It was pretty easy to figure out who the arsonist was. The author made such a big deal of making others suspects that it was obvious they were not the killers. Even a cursory reading should give the arsonist/murderer away by time your 50 pages in. The heroine was an idiot, and the romantic story was just too much.

Fire and Romance

Gripping action and well, developed characters kept me turning the pages of this thriller. No gimmicks, all the clues are, given to figure out who the Chessman is.

Didn't like the main character, Katie Sullivan, much.
