I found the volume to be a compelling mystery that held my attention through most of its twists and revelations. The premise — unearthing a hidden room tied to a cousin’s death and peeling back the layers of suspicion — is unsettling and intriguing. The atmosphere builds up nicely: there’s a real sense of dread and curiosity as the protagonists dig deeper, and the slow unfolding of secrets keeps you hooked.

That said, it’s not perfect. At times pacing feels uneven: certain segments drag with heavy detail, while others rush through revelations so quickly they don’t get the emotional weight they deserve. And while the tension is effective, the resolution — though satisfying — leaves a few threads a bit too ambiguous for my taste.

Overall, though, it’s an atmospheric horror-mystery that delivers chills and genuine suspense. If you enjoy stories with dark secrets, hidden rooms, and uneasy truths, this one’s worth checking out — just go in knowing it won’t always hold you on the edge.

Der Autor und Yuzuki erkunden das Haus und können alle aufgestellten Theorien bestätigen. Als sie anschließend mit Yuzukis Mutter sprechen, enthüllt diese die historischen Hintergründe des "Rituals der linken Hand".

Vor Jahren gab es 3 Geschwister in der Katabuchi-Linie. Der Zweitälteste sollte das Unternehmen übernehmen, wurde aber übergangen, da er unehelich geboren war. Das führte zur Spaltung der Familie. Der älteste Sohn heiratete im Anschluss Ushios, führte aber lieber sexuelle Beziehungen zu seiner Schwester, die ihm auch ein Kind gebar. Als seine Ehefrau davon erfuhr, wurde so verrückt, verstümmelte sich die linke Hand und verstarb. Um schließlich dem zweitältesten Bruder eins auszuwischen, schickte seine zweite Ehefrau ihre Schwester getarnt als Priesterin zum Ältesten Bruder. Sie erzählte ihm, dass nur das jährliche rituelle Töten von Kindern der Linie seines Bruders durch seine eigenen Kinder diese davor bewahren könne, Ushios Fluch zum Opfer zu fallen und eine verstümmelte linke Hand zu haben. der älteste Bruder glaubte dies, woraufhin die seltsamen Häuser gebaut wurden und das rituelle Morden begann.

Die Geschichte beginnt jetzt langsam, abgegahren zu werden. Ob es mir nicht zu wild wird, werde ich wohl im nächsten Teil sehen. Leider handelt es sich nun nicht mehr um ein Murder Mystery, sondern einen Familienfluch.

Omg omg omg! 😱
Wie spannend ist denn bitte dieser Band!? Wahnsinn, was sich da ausgedacht wurde - find ich riiiiichtig nice! Sie kommen dem Rätsel der Häuser langsam näher und wer der Mörder ihres Cousins ist. Aber es warten auch einige Plottwists auf. So viel, was ich absolut nicht erwartet hatte, aber so gut passt! Sehr wohlüberlegt. Bin extrem gespannt, wie das Ganze denn ausgeht. Und ein Tipp von mir: am besten am Stück lesen, dann ist's noch spannender! Wenn der letzte Band rauskommt, dann mach ich das ggf auch nochmal, dass ich nochmal komplett von vorne starte… 👀

Okay, I'm quite interested in this series (again) even though I've now finished the novel. Is it kinda of dumb, yeah- but it's still got all the twists I'm looking for! There are some differences that happen in the family home that don't happen in the novel so I'm really curious if the ending is going to be different 👀

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars for 'The Strange House Vol 4' by Uketsu.

The reasons behind why the killings started is clear (due to the wives of the first child wanting their children to be the heir and successor of their husbands which led to competition - killing the other young children). It's upsetting how Souchirou's wife went crazy and severed her left hand due to the circumstances. Did she died though? I also thought Ayano-San's husband was going to kill his sister-in-law and the writer. But, he left without explanation 🤔 I wondered if Ayano-San is continuing the killing legacy that her Grandfather (the third child of Souchirou and Chizuru).

Felt really upset for Souchirou's wife. She had a rough childhood and adulthood.

Looks like this might be the second to last volume in the series, and that surely feels like a good thing to me, come to this point.

Which is to say that 'The Strange House' takes a turn to a more conventional storytelling here, with some family legends revealing as the root of the whole mystery... possibly?

The ending here certainly didn't hold my interest as much as previous volume did, and I will be happy to end the series, but not a captive of the riddle of these houses anymore, really.

We'll see where volume 5 takes us, and if it can end with a bang.

The Strange House series is as creepy as it can get some moments in the story generally makes me shudder as I am starting to picture how the murder house is in full operation.

The whole story is so bizarre only so addictive I am so glad the manga version has been published as it is adds a whole another level to the plot.

I can't wait till next year these cliffhangers are stretching further a part from each volume hopefully it comes out sooner 🤞

Haben sich die vorherigen drei Bände teilweise wiederholt und nach dem spannenden Auftakt deutliche Ermüdungserscheinungen aufgezeigt, so liefert der vierte Band nun endlich die dringend benötigten Hintergrundinformationen. Diese machen die Ereignisse greifbarer und sorgen auch dafür, dass die Geschichte wieder deutlich spannender wird.

Solid entry into the series and the penultimate volume. Lots of exposition dumped towards the end—appears to reveal what is going on. An interesting twist—not what I expected—so I’m excited to see how this story wraps up. I love a manga series that doesn’t overstay its welcome, but could have easily read 10 volumes of this series. I do hope they turn Strange Pictures into a manga as well.

The series continues to be interesting. This volume has a lot of big reveals to the various mysteries, and sets up what I believe is the final volume after. The benefit of telling this story using the manga format is that even an info dump is interesting because of the way it is visually presented. Can't wait to see how this one ends!

They keep you interested, engaged and on the edge of your seat because you cannot leave until you know what happens next.

Also insanely bingeable. I read the first 2 in one day and the third a different day and the fourth in one sitting.

I loved this volume! I could not put it down! This was the volume that I’ve been waiting for all along because it explains so much of what is actually going on! And then it leaves off on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait for the next one! If you enjoy a good horror story, you will love this series!

Still really glad I picked this up. I continue to enjoy this series as it progresses and dives deeper into the story. Still recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of gruesome with their mystery too.
