My Kind Of Crazy is about Kendall Roarke, a recent divorcee, who is renovating an old house and plans to open it as a B&B, catering to weddings. Jonathan Reynolds is new in town and is a veterinarian working for his uncle. Midget is a Saint Bernard puppy who Kendall is fostering and always seems to be causing trouble of some sort. Jonathan seems interested in Kendall but Kendall doesn't want a relationship so soon after her divorce. Then there is the annoying neighbor who only wants to cause problems.

The story started really slow for me. I almost stopped reading it because of that. But I kept on and it got better. It turned into a nice little read with likable characters and an adorable dog. I would recommend to people who are patient enough to keep reading and who love Contemporary Romances.

I loved this book. A great summer read! I can't wait to get my hands on all of Katie's books. I hear she has an amazing mermaid series. I'm going to read that next, because I love her voice in this book!

First, let me say I liked the story. It's a well developed plot with two kind-hearted main characters. Kendall "meets" Jon obliquely in her local coffee shop. At the time, the shop gossip is speculating that Jon is a bit too friendly with the matronly librarian (his aunt, though Kendall doesn't know this) with whom he is having coffee. Kendall is overly sensitive to infidelity--her own husband took off with a barely-legal waitress several months back and the divorce papers are freshly minted. So, she chucks Jon into the Cad Category, and moves on. Sort of.

Jon is a veterinarian who has newly relocated to Cape Cod to escape his own failed marriage--his wife had been having an affair with his business partner, so he cut his ties and moved east to take over his elderly uncle's practice. He used to spend summers on the cape, having both his mother's siblings as long time residents. He's attracted to Kendall, but afraid to act on it--especially in the company of his family.

Once Kendall gets over her misunderstanding regarding Jon and his aunt, they become friendly. Jon admires Kendall's independence and hard work--she's single-handedly restoring her now-empty beach house and turning it into a bed and breakfast/wedding destination. She's also fostering a St. Bernard puppy who is absolutely smitten with Jon.

While Kendall and Jon take faltering steps closer, Kendall's fledgling business comes under attack from her new neighbor and her conniving ex-husband. It seems she's going to have some legal battles, and just when this comes to the boiling point, Kendall is implicated in the arson investigation of her prickly neighbor's property.

We end up with a well-formed, interesting plot that has a bit of heat, but no sloppy details. Jon and Kendall form a bond that is kinda too quick, in truth. I'm getting to the point where I'd rather see characters admit they "admire" one another, as opposed to "love"--because I think this is probably both more accurate and more believable. Still, I breezed through this beachy read, happy to see the good guys prevail, and the bad guys hide from the light of their machinations.

Rarely do I have the time to pick up a book and read it from beginning to end in one sitting. With My Kind of Crazy, it didn't really matter what my schedule allowed for, there was no stopping once I started this truly beautiful, “can’t put down” read.

O’Sullian’s heroine, Kendall Roarke is moving forward after a painful divorce by throwing herself into the remodel of her Bed and Breakfast in the small Cape Cod town she lived in her whole life. She may not be prepared for the complications of the handsome new vet who’s moved to town, the not-so-small puppy she’s fostering for a friend, or the uptight new neighbor set on making things difficult for her, but must figure out a way to handle crazy if she’s going to successfully make her Inn a premiere wedding destination.

Toss in a dash of intrigue and you have the perfect beach – or anytime – read.

O’Sullivan delivers the same charm and wit that she did with Son of a Mermaid, with this modern-day, beach romance geared toward adults. By following Kendall and Jon as they work to set their past hurts aside and dip their toes into a new romance, O’Sullivan touches on all those emotions that most modern, busy people face. It rings true, touches the heart-strings, and gives hope that everyone has another someone who can deal with their kind of crazy.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a sweet romance with some comedy so I was totally pleased when this book tickled my fancy. Jon I loved him there's just no other way to describe how I felt, "Jon cleared his throat. All that Cape Cod Red made it hard to think. Or maybe it was Kendall. "What am I doing? Catching your dog, and ruining my favorite tie in the process, is what I'm doing." I loved how caring he is, "what's going on?" Jon asked. Ken, are you all right? Is anyone hurt?" He went to stand next to her, wanting to protect her from whatever was happening. Both officers stared at him, and Jon heard the puppy barking up a storm behind the closed door." Kendall that girl is always in a great mood after she gets a little loving from her man, "silly puppy." Kendall scooted off the edge of the table onto her feet. She bent to grab her shirt and jeans, and ruffled the fur atop Midget's head. "I didn't forget you. I'll feed you dinner, but leave Jon alone. He's mine." I also noticed that with Jon the little vixen is bold, "sensing his discomfort, her hand slip from his arm to rest in his lap creating even more heat. His erection strained for release. "Be careful there, or I might not be able to control myself." This book was so sweet and I hope it's part of a series because there were a bunch of other characters who I thought deserve a book.

My Kind of Crazy by Katie O’Sullivan is my kind of book. I love small-town, sweet romances, and this contemporary romance is all that and more. Kendall and Jon are real people with real problems, and I found myself really rooting for them to find their way to each other and get their fresh starts in life and in love.

This is my first Katie O’Sullivan book, but it won’t be the last. I love her writing style and found this book to be an easy, breezy, enjoyable read. Definitely add this to your list of summer beach reads.

Oh, and can I have Midget? I really want him. :)

Katie O'Sullivan's My Kind of Crazy is the perfect summer vacation book. It's engaging with a lively story line, a handsome hero and a strong heroine to keep you riveted and turning those pages. And best of all - IT'S A DOG BOOK. There are too many cat books out there and it's nice to finally have a book with a big, slobbering dog helping the romance along.

I had not heard of nor read any books by Ms O'Sullivan prior to this novel. I shall look for more of her works in the future.

I enjoyed both the story line and the characters in this novel. I thought it was well-written and edited, the characters were likeable and realistic, and the plot carefully developed.

Will definitely read more of Katie O'Sullivan. As I grew up with Saint Bernards and lived near Lake Michigan, this was a very close to home endearing story. Great characters, great story, and great dog!

My Kind of Crazy is a fun beach read set in Cape Cod, Mass. Stocked with quirky secondary characters, sexual chemistry, and a very cute puppy, the story pulls the reader along in an adorable tale. I loved the vividness of the setting--the small town was almost like a character giving so much life and vibrancy to the story.

I greatly enjoyed Kendall and Jon's relationships with their friends and family. Kendall's friendship with the fun, dog-loving Dorothy her husband, Alan and Jon's relationship with his aging uncle who is the town's veterinarian, provides rich insight into the hearts and minds of the two, and helps establish them as kind, caring individuals worthy of love.

The one concern I had was with the heroine, Kendall. Some of her illogical assumptions and poor decisions caused me distress.

**Mini-Spoiler Alert**
During the Hero and Heroine's initial meeting, Kendall, a DIY wedding coordinator, sees Jon, a new to town veterinarian, having coffee with a married, elderly lady of the community--the librarian to be exact. During the Meet Cute, Kendall inexplicably assumes Jon is having an affair with the older woman who is really his aunt. Unfortunately, this assumption provides most of the conflict between the couple for the first portion of the story and undermines Kendall's authenticity. In addition to that assumption, her poor judgment in a few other areas cause additional headaches and heartaches as well--I won't go into detail but there are at least two other instances where her inexplicable choices serve as a vehicle for furthering the conflict of the story between various antagonists such as her ex-husband and pushy next door neighbor.

Despite her flaws, both Kendall and Jon are wonderfully lovable characters. Their chemistry sizzled on the pages and kept me reading late into the night. The sexual tension between them builds beautifully, pulling the reader along at a great pace through a fun, lighthearted story to a satisfying ending. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to other books in this genre by the author.

My Kind of Crazy (click book or see below for description)
By Katie O’Sullivan
Downloaded free on 5/29/14 (released 3/25/14)

Rating: 3 bones

“You might be crazy,” she whispered, “but you’re my kind of crazy.”

Finish Time: 4 nights. Another Amazon free download. 4 in a row – going back to NetGalley next (or maybe my new Kindle First read!). This was a cute, entertaining read. Good summer book, nothing too heavy. Romance, mystery, weddings, crazy neighbors and dogs, this book has lots to keep it interesting!

Kendall “Ken” recently ended a messy marriage to Chris and has spent her time, and what little money she has, fixing up a B&B in Cape Cod. It’s getting close to peak season when the story begins and Ken is putting the final touches on her house to open it up to a few booked weddings and hopefully many more. Surrounded by a great group of friends and other locals, when a new face shows up in town, everyone is talking.

Jon recently had some troubles of his own and retreated to Cape Cod to help with his uncle’s veterinary practice. Upon seeing Jon with his aunt for the first time, Ken makes some false assumptions, which leads to some humorous first encounters with Jon. Her friend Dorothy runs an animal shelter and asks Ken to take in a puppy named Midget temporarily. Also quite humorous, as Midget is a Saint Bernard, and does not fit his name at all.

The story progresses from there with some encounters with her non-dog loving new neighbor, maxed out credit cards, canceled orders, strangers in the backyard, and much more. Never a dull moment between the developing relationships between Ken & Jon, and Ken & Midget. A little mystery thrown in, a bit of suspense, make for another nice story. I toyed between 3-4 stars as I really have no complaints about this book, just really a nice, sweet, summer book!

Kendall is busy restoring the Bed and Breakfast she bought with her now ex-husband. She doesn’t have time to fall in love or even look at another human being. That is until she runs into Jon at the local coffee shop. Once Jon meets Kendall he can’t get her out of his mind. He seems to be running into her with her new Saint Bernard puppy, Midget. Though Jon can’t get Kendall out of his head he isn’t even sure if he’s ready for a new relationship after his marriage. Even though they fight their attraction they are drawn together. But, as their fledgling relationship starts to take off so do Kendall’s woes with her Bed and Breakfast and a contentious neighbor threaten to tear apart both Kendall’s fragile business and her new romance. Can Kendall learn to trust again and with that will she find the independence and perseverance that she lost?

I loved this book. It was a fun story with characters that you grew to love. Kendall and Jon are definitely a perfect match. When you throw in the shenanigans of Midget and the trials and tribulations with Kendall’s Bed and Breakfast it makes for a fantastic story. This is the first book of the Adult contemporary that I have read by Katie O’Sullivan and I was not let down. I loved her young adult book, Son of a Mermaid and I knew I had to read this one. With this book it really shows the diversity and development that she has grown as a writer. Her characters are strong with witty dialogue and a fantastic setting and story that takes the reader into the story. Overall, this is a fantastic book that is definitely beach reading material.

Well written, Sweet, & Entertaining

Kendall Roarke’s life is already hectic as she works day and night building her new business as a wedding coordinator and venue hostess at her bed and breakfast. When she volunteers to foster a trouble-making puppy and keeps running into the same hot guy on the Cape, she quickly gets entangled into a new “kind of crazy” lifestyle. Throw in a few well-meaning friends, a snotty uptight neighbor, and an ex-husband that deserves a good throttling and you have a whirlwind romance with a disaster waiting to happen around every corner.

My Kind of Crazy is a sweet contemporary romance about two divorcees discovering love and trust in one another as they build a new relationship on Cape Cod. Complications of family and past relationships woven into the story build a strong plot and entertaining characters who are full of depth.

This story is well written and was hard for me to put down. It is entertaining in every way. A great setting, clear writing, and a believable plot with plenty of intrigue and suspense keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. Putting all the technical excellence aside, who couldn’t fall in love with a strong heroine, a sexy vet, and a lovable, gigantic puppy named Midget?

The is a wonderful sweet read that will leave readers with a good feeling.

Kendall(Ken)is recently out of a bad marriage and is still smarting from the emotional wounds. She worries she's taking on a little more than she can chew with starting up a wedding business at her guesthouse, handling renovations herself, and a adopting a 60 pound dog that turns out to be a puppy with a lot of growing to do.

Enter more complications with a neighbor from hell and a delicious new guy in town.

As much as Ken tries to keep up barriers to Jon, he keeps knocking them down.

The romance has a very real feel to it. Relationships are messy but the good ones require a leap of faith. Just when Ken and Jon land softly, her ex shows up to throw a spanner in the works.

I loved the interaction between these two and there was plenty of swoon worthy romance without falling over into cheesy at all. All characters were fully developed and varied, including the adorable puppy. The descriptions were just the right about that I could almost smell the salt air of the location without getting bogged down. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a contemporary romance read with a few twists and turns along the way.

O’Sullivan takes Cape Cod by storm with her latest romance. This coastal town comes to life at the tip of her pen. She tackles the issues that individuals deal with every day and wraps them up in a heartfelt, sometimes comical HEA package. Even with the HEA, there is realism that runs throughout. I found myself firmly grounded in the here and now throughout, rather than stuck in a fairy tale.

I appreciate the gradual character development that O’Sullivan uses in this work. I felt like I was getting to know real people rather than simply characters in a novel. I love how boisterous & in your face some of these characters are. It’s brilliant to see these types of individuals make their way into work, even as secondary characters. At times I really felt like I’d stepped into my hometown, with the variety of individuals that I met throughout this novel.

As a whole this was a well written, intriguing novel that definitely made me smile. I’d recommend it to those looking for a sweet, heartfelt romance.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a big fan of paranormal, as many of you know, but every now and then I like to take a break from the things that go bump in the night and curl up with a great romance. If it has an intriguing mystery built in, even better. My Kind of Crazy fits both categories and it didn't disappoint.

Kendall Roarke is a strong character who is determined to make it on her own. She's recently divorced in a small town where everyone knows everyone's business. Kendall doesn't let the fact that the town knows the whole story about her failed marriage. She embraces her new life and focuses on fixing up her Bed and Breakfast. She's not looking for romance, but finds herself drawn to the new vet in town. And who can blame her? Jon is tall, dark, and dreamy. I really enjoyed watching their romance unfold, and when outside forces sabotage Kendall's dreams, Jon was there for her, offering a shoulder to lean on yet still letting her be in charge. This is a great read, with well developed characters, and a swoon worthy romance.

This was a pleasant enough story, but is it okay to say my favorite character is a dog? A sweet six-month old puppy named Midget... who has big feet, a big appetite, big soulful eyes, and big slobbery kisses. Yeah, I meant to say "big" that many times. He's a St. Bernard. A very lovable St. Bernard.

Oh, the people are likeable enough, too. Most of them, anyway. The heroine is saddled with a real pain-in-the-derriere ex-husband and a Loony tunes kinda next door neighbor, but her best friend and new love interest more than make up for them.

There's too much sex (although it isn't real graphic) to qualify this book as a sweet romance, and there isn't enough intrigue to define it as a very deep mystery. So I reckon it qualifies as a light and quick summer read with a few spots of humor and tears. Yeah, it's a pleasant read. Just the ticket for a lazy summer day.

Three and a half stars.

Katie O’Sullivan’s My Kind of Crazy is a wonderful new contemporary romance ready to pull at your heart strings. This story hit many sweet spots for me- a strong female lead, a hot man who isn’t too sensitive, and a puppy.

Kendall Roarke is a woman on a mission. Above all else, she’s trying to save her bed and breakfast after an awful divorce. Enter Jonathan Reynolds, a hot new divorcee who also happens to be the new town vet, and sparks begin to fly.

There are so many good things I can say about this book that there isn’t enough room to list them all, but the biggest thing that always stands out to me about O’Sullivan’s writing: she has this amazing ability to inject a beautiful sense of sweetness into her stories that is rarely seen today.

My Kind of Crazy is a great book to add to your summer reading list. I can’t wait to see what O’Sullivan comes up with next.

A fun summer beach read!

My Kind of Crazy is my kind of sweet, contemporary romance. The characters are well done, two recently divorced people who are willing to take another chance at love. The locals in the story are well done, too, from those in the vet’s office to the police station. And I’m interested to know more about Kendall and her family, because those struggles and issues come into play as well.

And I’m a sucker for a rescue dog. Glad to see him get his HEA, too. :p

The romance was well-developed as was the resolution with Kendall’s business and her ex. This is great romance that makes for a great beach read.

I’ve read and loved Katie’s books before. She’s a solid writer that doesn’t disappoint!

Wow this was an intense kind of crazy story, hence the name.
Kendall's husband cheated on her with a teenager and was a major money swindler she just wanted to get on with her life and run a b&b in the Cape and host weddings.
Jon's wife cheated on him with his partner so he sold his business and moved from CA to the Cape.
Kendall and Jon learn a lot from each other in a sweet romance with some mystery thrown in. Great read.

Kendra and Jon

Not a very good book. The story is simplistic and a little ridiculous. I don,t recommend it. Kendra gets divorced, fixes a B&B, and falls for the new vet in town.

I thought this book was very interesting. There were some things that Kendall (the girl in the story) did that I thought were just plain dumb, but hey it's just a story and not real life. Cute story and enjoyed the book.
