KISS AND… RUN LIKE HELL

That's the motto I was supposed to be living my life by.

Supposed to, being the key phrase there.

Because my friend-with-benefits is in love with me.

And I think I'm in love with him too.

Luckily my other friend decides to screw all of us over when she accidentally drags me into a fight with a crazy magical pack, giving me the perfect chance to escape Dominic, said friend-with-benefits.

But he's even better at tracking people than I am, and the wolf I share my body with?

She's on his team.

I can't ignore my past anymore… or it's going to destroy my future.

*This new-adult novel is a full-length, slow-burn standalone romance featuring sarcastic characters, sexy werewolves, and a wolf pack that functions as a family.

This book didn’t work for me. It could’ve been a good story, but there’s so much that makes the entire story really crap.

There’s a ton of inconsistencies!!!

They talk about being in love with each other, but all they’ve had is a sexual relationship and don’t know hardly anything about each other. She literally avoids being around him EXCEPT to have sex. There’s so many half truths and lies between the two that it really doesn’t make sense for them to be “so in love that nothing could break them apart”.

Dom says he had a tracker in her phone. So he tracked her location. The only place her phone could’ve been was at her vehicle with all her other crap before her and Lex took off to find Lex’s mate. So… why does Dom ask Taylor where her car is when they get to the hotel in Vegas? 🤨

Then she is worried her wolf will go rabid and it’ll screw up her healing wound. But her wound is almost all better after she went rabid. Her wolf gets shoved down and basically drugged up when she drinks all the alcohol (which she can’t stand and doesn’t ever drink because her mom is an alcoholic, but suddenly she’s like okay, whatevs) and then her wolf apparently shoved back up totally clearheaded and pissed off? This isn’t making sense here!

Not to mention the amount of times she thinks of herself as a slut. Lord the slut shaming was annoying as hell! The woman KISSED TWO OTHER PEOPLE. That’s it! And she had broken things off with Dom. How does that make her a slut, exactly? Goodness.

Then we read about all these stories of how clumsy she is. So clumsy that Dom tells a story about her tripping ELEVEN times… but she literally is only clumsy once in the entire book. At the beginning…. For someone SO clumsy, she sure isn’t very clumsy….

Taylor is obviously a very emotional person throughout the book. But she sure seems to forgive Dom quickly when he takes off to fight without mentioning it to her. And this is after a bunch of women literally say “Dom didn’t tell you?” After having all those women’s comments and being worried, she should have been a lot more emotional.

On top of all of this, the “gifted pack” is basically swept under the rug as like an afterthought. In the beginning, this pack was so scary because these wolves have multiple major gifts and are extremely dangerous. The alpha can mind control!!! But all we get is “I killed the alpha”? What in the crap is that?!

Lex’s whole personality just completely makes a 180 and she’s a totally different person all of a sudden.

What color are Taylor’s eyes? Or hair? What color is her wolf? What body type does she have? We know nothing about her physically except that she has tattoos, one being “endure” and some “squishy parts”. Oh and her wolf is a small werewolf, but still big. Dom has long enough hair for Taylor to tug on, brown eyes and his wolfs eyes are gold. Oh and he’s big. That’s all we got for him.

Then we have the random tidbit where Mrs. What’s her nuts comes over and demands Taylor find her sons mate. No one knows how the heck she knows about Taylor’s gift. And all that’s said is “she’s at the refuge and will rip his heart out if he comes near her” and the lady just leaves. That’s it. Wtf?

How is everyone finding out about Taylor’s gift when she’s kept it hidden/quiet? And why the heck would you throw in a random scene where someone tries to force her to tell them so he can force his mate to be with him? It was gross. The whole scene was poorly done and felt so forced and random! Same with when the lady at her old pack demanded help. Not one single person has nicely asked her or had good intentions! Even her best friend used her so she could try killing her mate! Lord, this book is a mess.

Why is the head of security a person that doesn’t understand computers very well? Someone who wants to be a history teacher and is in school for that? It makes more sense for Taylor to be on the security team than for Dom. Also, he put a tracker on her phone, but he’s not a computer nerd… and the computer nerd has no idea? All of this crap makes NO SENSE!

She says “we need to take this slow. Give me one month.” Then she’s trying to screw him, and they’re having oral sex and everything else but “doing the deed”. Newsflash: Oral sex is still sex! If you want a clear mind, maybe get to know the dude? Crazy idea. Also, they decide to move in together almost instantly! And he’s over here making these moves and basically forcing her into something without even talking to her about it. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY SHE RAN! She freaked because he lied about wanting more and he made decisions about their relationship without freaking talking to her!!!! What the hell?! If she doesn’t want him doing that crap, why is he still doing it? And why is it suddenly okay after she specifically told him it’s not? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m sure there’s more in there, but I’m over it. I got 80% in and started skimming because it’s now so sugary sweet and emotional and boring as hell.

This is the fifth book in the Rejected Mate Refuge Series, although it can be read as a Standalone. This book was the standout in the amazing, steamy series! I just absolutely loved Taylor and Dominic. From the very first chapter we learn that Taylor is an infertile werewolf in a community which completely centers around families and kids. Learning about Taylor's struggles, and her incredible strength in overcoming prejudice was so rewarding. Lola Glass deftly unpacks these issues in such a considerate way, and I just love that this topic which is so rarely featured in romance, much less paranormal romance, is treated so well and respectfully. It also doesn't detract from allowing a beautiful romance to flourish, and I have to say that Tay and Dom are one of my fave fictional couples of all time! I definitely recommend this book for any lovers of romance, shifter or otherwise.

4.5☆ Taylor and Dom

Awww I loved this story ♡ I've always loved how Lola manages to weave real world issues through her paranormal fantasy stories it makes them so relatable and this one was no different esp with Taylor and her fertility struggles and the impact they had on her mental health.

Taylor and Doms arrangement was never meant to go beyond the bedroom in fact it was one of their rules if either caught feeling their benefits would end. Taylor didn't want a mate. Ever. She'd already been rejected and the reason was out of her control but she'd never willingly allow another mate and deny them a future she couldn't give them. So when Dom caught feelings she stuck to her word and ended things but he was already in too deep to walk away and her wolf disagreed with her decision to walk away from Dom so when she tries to move on from him in a way her wolf doesn't like she becomes furious and rips control from Taylor slamming a wall between them and turning rabid. Dom goes after Taylor determined to convince her wolf to hand the reins back to the woman he's fallen for. In the end convincing her wolf to return Taylor will be the easy part of their journey because Taylor has spent so many years feeling unworthy of love, that accepting that Dom wants to give her love and so much more will mean she'll once and for all have to move past the demons that haunt her mind and allow herself to finally be loved.

solid story - not sure about relationship theories

I thought this book was a solid read. Generally I have difficulty with some of this author’s perspectives. I’ve read multiple books at this point and almost always disagree with some aspect of the relationship portrayed. This book was no different. However in this case, the book was solid enough over all that I was able to mostly overlook the differences. In this book i had philosophical differences regarding when someone needs to stay in a relationship. At some point someone shows personal destructive behavior and it’s suggested that during addiction and obvious depression, the partner needs to stay and help the person overcome their addiction or destructive behavior. That leaving people is cowardly. I thought that was much too simple. You can’t help someone who is suffering addiction unless they want to be helped. Also if someone (as in this book ) is attempting to sleep around on you because they have mental health issues, I don’t necessarily suggest you stay in the relationship. In this book it was suggested that leaving might be considered cowardly. That you have to stick out the hard times. I think it depends on what the destructive behavior looks like. Also you can’t love away addiction, depression or anxiety. Those are real mental issues. I personally think the main character should have been encouraged to see a therapist before she got in any relationship.

I love this series and I love getting to see all the characters getting their own stories! Taylor seemed like a really interesting character from what we see of her in the other books, so I was excited to read more about her. I liked seeing more aspects of werewolf culture explored, and how that played in to Taylor's life. I loved Dom enough that his name being the same as my ex's didn't even bug me. Sometimes that could take me out of a story, but it didn't this time. I liked seeing them figure things out and how the lies they both told came to light. I loved especially Dom standing up for Tay to her family. That was one of my favorite things. And I appreciated Lola's handling of sensitive subjects as always. It was real and not glossed over, but still shown a happy ending. Which is nice. Too many times in romance there's just a quick note of the bad things and then everything is magically fixed by love, which isn't realistic. I liked that Taylor was still insecure about the infertility and what it would mean for her future with Dom, because I know that's real for a lot of people.
I love this series, and really enjoyed getting another couple's story. And it was cool to see the overarching story continue as well. I definitely can't wait to read more of this series!

4.5 stars. Taylor, the female wolf shifter lead, had her reproductive system removed as a teen due to unstoppable bleeding. In the wolf world, this makes her highly undesirable because families are the focus. She has accepted Dom, the male wolf shifter lead, as a friend with benefits and has no intention of taking the relationship any further - she doesn’t believe he’d even want to once he knows her secret.

Then the situation changes and Dom becomes aware of her position and sticks with her. With the external turmoil and turbulence, she is pushed to the limit of what she can cope with and her wolf goes rabid. Dom chases her and convinces her to come back to him and then they need to renegotiate their relationship.

This story is mainly female lead POV, with a few male lead POV chapters and epilogue. It is well written and edited, and a great addition to the series. I appreciate the seriousness of the issues, both present and historical that these characters address, as well as the commitment Dom shows Taylor in the face of her uncertainty and doubt. A beautiful story.

I loved this book. It can be read as a stand alone or in the Rejected Mate Refuge Series as book 5. Taylor and Dominic have turned out to be favourites of mine. She comes across as strong but deep down like every person she is dealing with her own issues from her past. She is a clumsy, geeky, loving and family orientated person. He is a strong and loyal man, who would do anything for his mate, even when she tells him not to. Taylor knows what Dominic is really like not just what everyone sees, the big, strong, muscled and violent head of security. He has his own reasons for keeping things from Taylor, the question is can she trust him again?
This book was easy to read, it flows and i couldn't put it down, another great addition to this series from an outstanding author. It was a joy to read with the dynamics not only between Taylor and Dominic but the other characters within the story. The steamy sex scenes kept you wanting more but there were intimate ones between the two as well which added to the story.
Definitely worth a read or maybe 2.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Mate Tracker by Lola Glass, the fifth book of the Rejected Mates Refuge series. I absolutely love this series! Taylor was rejected by her mate and developed the gift of being able to track rejected wolves mates. Having developed a friends with benefits relationship with Dominic, things take a left turn when Dom reveals his secrets and Taylor decides to end the relationship. Throw Lex into the mix with her secrets and a desire to confront the mate that rejected her and you have an action packed read that will have your heart pounding and stress making you sweat. This series gets better and better with each read that is added. The cast of characters rotate in focus, but continue to all be an integral part of the storyline. A great addition to the series and a series that should be on your TBR. Mature Readers Suggested.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by obtaining a copy through Booksprout.

I loved loved loved this book! I was not as excited about this book but I did love bulldozer. The moment I started this book I could not put it down. I fell in love with Dom as much as I loved Bulldozer. I stayed up all night reading this as I could not get enough. I loved the banter and I enjoyed the back stories of both of them. The true friendship and love they had. I kind of wish there was a scene where Cara and Dom talked to show he had connections with others in the pact, since he was her other protector in my opinion, but I really felt his protective nature and loved the twist he was head of security. I felt every scene and my emotions was all in this book. I am a loud advocate to all around me on how much I love Lola Glass since I found her with the Mate Hunt series, but this book had me screaming again I LOVE LOLA GLASS!! Thanks LOLA GLASS for creating these worlds!

I had been waiting for this one!! I loved both Taylor and Bulldozer (Dominic) in the original Rejected Mates Refuge trilogy and I was so excited to read their story. This is, of all of Lola’s books, a beautiful example of friends to lovers. Yes, Shadow and Ryker were friends, as well, but both Taylor and Dom truly recognize that real love is not made up of the big moments… a long, lasting relationship is based on the tiny day-to-day interactions and choices to stay together. Taylor had some big issues to be able to get past, but the effort Dom made to help her, and the choice she made to work on things… this book really punched me right in the heart. I absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful journey

* I was provided an ARC for an honest review*

Wow, these books just keep getting better and better! I honestly thought that I wouldn't fall so hard for any of the other couples following Cara/Knox but boy was I wrong. Taylor and Dom continue to show us what a healthy relationship really looks like. Many other books in this genre often portray unhealthy "suddenly mates" troupes, but Lola does any amazing job of showing us that a truly genuine relationship can exist in a werewolf chosen mates world. I love reading friends to lovers stories (almost as much as enemies to lovers), and this story is no exception. It touches on many raw aspects of emotion and heartbreak. I loved watching these characters grow and fall in love. Truly such a great weekend read!

I really like this story!

H: Dominic Appel (Dom)
h: Taylor Keller (Tay)
I really like this story!!! I really love Dom and how possessive, protective he is. Both Dom and Tay have been rejected by their fate mates. Tay's mate rejected her because she is infertile and Dom's mate decided to take a human for mate. Both were broken and decided to get together and become "s*x-friendship" with no strings attached. Dom had other ideas and immediately knew he wanted Tay to be with him forever. She was his female to him. This story has some really heartfelt sad parts when it comes to infertility and being treated differently because of it. I love Dom, overlooked that and fell in love with Taylor as she is, broken and all.

Fighting for the one you love

I love that this book is about Taylor overcoming a lack of self worth to realise that she is deserving of a mate. So many complicated issues have led her to her lack of self worth and Lola Glass deals with each subject gently and sensitively. It is helpful to have a partner who reflects your worth at you when you have lost sight of it yourself and Taylor finds the man who does that for her and brings her back to her centre. Thanks Lola for another gorgeous story to enjoy. You can read this on its own but it is fun to have read the other linked books as there are cameos from other characters.

Taylor and Dom's Story . . .

This was an enjoyable story as Taylor and Dom try a friends-with-benefits relationship that starts to bring up real feelings of wanting more permanence in the relationship. Taylor starts to see this with Dom and she panics, rejecting him in order to stop what she fears will happen and what it will mean to him. However, Dom knows what he wants and is not willing to let it go. He shows her how he feels and that his wolf will always be protective of her. Will she talk to him and overcome her issues to give him a chance to prove himself?

just REAL

I love this story and the continuation of the wolf tamer series! I more than anything love how Lola focused on the friendship and dynamics of the two leading characters rather than just coming together. I think that’s what I love I love most of this series is everyone is rejected and finds their own love rather than the true mate.
Don’t get me wrong I am still appealed to the true mate theory but in these books Lola gives us a different view and makes it seem more genuine and real when finding love!

Continuity and female strength are needed.

Overall great book. I wish Taylor and the rest of the females would take self defense classes in human and wolf form instead of depending on the males. Mainly because all the females have had rough pasts with the male gender, it weird they also depend on them for safety. Also how could Lex and Taylor be friends since she was 16? Lex didn't come out of her wolf form until recently and Taylor was 21. I don't think they've been climbing out of windows since then.

I really wanted to love it

I really did. The storyline was strong and the character development was good. As a reader not a twenty something, the weakest point for me was too much detail and too much sex. Yes, yes sex was definitely needed in the story. But page after page after page? Not so much (sigh) At twenty it's important older, it loses it's appeal a bit. Use it but tone it down. Flawed heroines or heroes are a plus. Breast cancer, endometriosis and such are real and need to be discussed in a kind compassionate manner, so WELL Done!

made me cry

Something about someone still fighting for you after your body faced a battle it couldn’t win—years after—it won back a little corner of forgiveness in my heart for the battles my body couldn’t win.

Tears for old dreams are still drying, so forgive the cheese. But while some battles are lost, and sickness levies steep taxes on self-trust and relationships and dreaming forward, the proverbial war to dream and live and love is still on. And I wanna tattoo ‘enjoy’ right along ‘endure’ next to scars to be kissed just like this.

This book is a standalone so you don't have to have read the previous series to read this book but you should because it was so good. If you already loved Dom and Bulldozer you'll really love this book. You get to see parts of Taylor you haven't before. You'll love her too because how she was always happy and a good friend you'd never suspect what she's been through. This book will break your heart and teach you the true meaning of love. If you couldn't tell already I loved it.

Another good spinoff

I hated Taylor when she was first introduced in the original series so I wasn’t sure what I’d think about a spin-off with her as the protagonist. I was pleasantly surprised that both she and Dom were more complex than the previous books portrayed. I definitely enjoyed seeing the nerdy side of Dom. This book deals heavily with infertility so be aware if that’s a trigger.

Mate Tracker - My Fave Lola Glass Book To Date

Mate Tracker is my favourite book in the Outcast Pack/Rejected Mate Pack world so far. My only complaint is chapter 29 where an interesting plot point (teased at in earlier chapters) was resolved outside of the main narrative. I think it was a missed opportunity, but maybe that plot point will be revisited in a future book? I still really enjoyed Mate Tracker & would recommend it in the series or as a standalone.

For me, this book started off as somewhat of a slow burn. We learn more about Taylor and Dominic, with fertility being an issue for Taylor. While the relationship grows from a friendship to a romance with Dom wanting something more permanent, Taylor beings to panic and pull back. Needless to say, as you get to learn more about the characters, you fall more in love with the couples. This is a must-read, people!!

I enjoyed this book immensely!

Lola's Afterthoughts in the book summed up the spirit of the book. Not every romance is roses and rainbows. Life is a bitch and no one is trained how to navigate it properly. Most of us just do the best we can and struggle on through. Love definitely does NOT conquer all... You need to work at a relationship for it to be successful. This book is a shining example of how you work at having that happy ending.

Loved this story..And this series!

Something about Taylor, and especially Dominic, made this into another can't put down book! Lola, read your comments at the end:
To see all the ways that they say, “I love you,” without speaking the words. Because if I can spread just the tiniest bit of love in this cruel, hateful world, then I’ve succeeded.
You have more than succeeded! Keep it up! Thanks!!!!

This is an awesome series! You should read all of them! I love how this author not only creates a great love story that feels authentic, but also adds a serious topic that each MC deals with. In this book it's infertility. I just think it gives each book and character a level of depth and realism that is really cool. Even if they are werewolves, the relationships and issues feel very real.

I'm enjoying these quick views back into the Refuge. These characters all made such a impression and Lola does a great job telling each story. Taylor and Dom have a kickbutt friendship to begin the relationship. I'm glad Dom fights for it when she pulls away. 💓 Their pull to each other makes me want more.

Another fun story in this series that looks at mates in a different way then usual. This time it is the story of Taylor and Dom. A true friends to lovers story that was fun to reach and watch what happened. Fingers crossed it would all work out. But of course not before entertaining me. Plus good other characters added to it all.
