Start the Assumption Series with book 1 – Broken

A girl’s senior year in high school should be a special time. Ayma’s expectations are not very high. She is the daughter of a control-freak mother and a father who has been absent for the past three years. She is ridiculed by the popular kids in school because of her unfortunate name and the way she dresses. Although she’s nearly eighteen, her mother controls every aspect of her life, including what she wears, who her friends are and even what foods she is allowed to eat. The only bright spot in her life is her friend Tabby. Until she meets Colton.

Colton is unexpected. He’s gorgeous, popular – the guy all the girls want and the one all of the other guys want to be like. When he begins to pay attention to Ayma, she doesn’t know what to think. Things like this just don’t happen to girls like her. One obstacle after another is thrown into their path, but they can’t deny what they feel for one another. Their new-found love will be threatened by secrets from their past, challenges in their present and a future they can only dream about. Ayma struggles to find an identity apart from her mother’s controlling nature while Colton faces the results of an arrest that took place the summer before his tenth grade year.

Can they find love and happiness? Or will they be destroyed by events beyond their control?

Ayma is a slightly awkward "rich girl". She's decided she wants to go to a public school. This makes her mother very unhappy. She expects her daughter to BE a certain way. So, when Ayma meets and falls in love with Colton, her mother becomes even more displeased. Because Colton is a boy from the wrong side of town and has a "sketchy" past.

So, if you've ever been a teenager....all of us, yes?.... you want to read this amazing book! It has everything you want... Romance with your first love. Dealing with those horrible school bullies. Normal everyday teen angst. Also, the secondary characters were very fun to read!

I absolutely love this book...

5 'thank god I'm no longer a teenager' Stars!

I absolutely loved this book! it was real and portrayed the characters in amazing ways. The characters were fleshed out nicely in the story and you really connected with all of their lives. Izzibella Beau wrote a touching coming of age story full of unexpected twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. There were a few interesting lessons in the pages of this book and I'm super excited to read the second book in the series.

Can they find love and happiness? Or will they be destroyed by events beyond their control?

This book transported me back to my years in high school. I am sad to admit I was a little bit more like Regan than I was Ayma. Anyway, all of the characters were very real. They reminded me of my friends from high school. I love the inner dialogue that Ayma was having with herself throughout the story. Many readers could relate, because I think no matter what you age, you are found talking to yourself at least once on a daily basis.

We are immediately drawn to Colton’s character. He is very mysterious and we want to know more about him ASAP. He is drawn to Ayma instantly and it doesn’t have to do with her ridiculous name Ayma Kuntz (pronounced Ima Kunt). We are immediately pulling for Colton and Ayma’s relationship to work. After all, why can’t the “nerdy” girl get the hot guy?

I absolutely loved Ayma’s friend Tabby. The whole gang kept me laughing throughout the whole book and I can’t wait to read their stories in the future. Tabby and the rest of Ayma’s friends do not let living in a trailer park affect their confidence. The fact that Ayma is rich and they aren’t isn’t an issue. Well for Ayma it is. She feels uncomfortable whenever her friends mention her money.

Speaking of money, I HATED Ayma’s mom. The only time she noticed Ayma was when she wasn’t wearing the proper outfit. Their relationship was nonexistent. She was constantly at work late and going away. Ayma had to fend for herself. But with the help of her friends and Colton she was able to have the senior year that all girls should have.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be transported back to their youth and think about how silly life seemed back then.

>Review – Broken –

>I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. I am an independent reviewer. This is the first book in the Assumption Series and ends in a cliffhanger.

>This story takes place the senior year in high school. All of the main characters are 17-18 years old. That being said, the story is not really for the young adult audience. Maybe I am old fashioned, but there is so much sex in books with the characters being so young. It scares me to think that kids are so sexually active so soon. As with most high school books, there are different cliques that the characters fall into. In this story, the main cliques are Geek and Jock, or not popular and popular. Ayma, Tabby, and Brady are Geeks. Colton, Ash, Reagan and Kennedy are the popular ones. When Colton crosses boundaries and falls for Ayma, all high school hell breaks loose.

>There is a lot of humor in this story. For example, Ayma’s name is horrible, yet funny. All the internal dialogue in Ayma’s head is so spot on for an introvert. All of the characters have difficulties to overcome. The reader does not know each character’s backstory in this first book, but the main stories of Ayma, Colton and Tabby are the main ones.

>Ayma is so mentally abused that I was in tears. I really loved the romance between Colton and Ayma. There is an unknown with Colton. What really happened to him for the last 2 years? I wasn’t certain how realistic it was of Colton to do a complete 180 when he realized who Ayma’s mom was. I didn’t feel his apology was enough either.

> There are a lot of hints as to what is the issue with Tabby. Nothing is ever mentioned for sure, but she is definitely ill and probably not going to live past the next book, if I had to make a guess. I hope that Ayma and Colton stay together, but they are just 18. What are the chances of that realistically?

>This story is very relatable. I was able to associate each character with someone I went to high school with. The story flowed well and was a lot of fun to read. This story is appropriate for an adult audience.

Ayma Kuntz has had a miserable life so far and she is only in high school. Her name is pronounced Ima Kunt the z is silent... So imagine the severity of the teasing she has gone through during her school years. Her only friends are the school geeks but she is fine with that. Her best friend is Tabby. Her parents are divorced and her father moved far away after. Her mother is very controlling and hardly home. During Senior year though she meets Colton and her whole world changes.

Colton dealt with a horrible issue when he was 15 and now that he is back in school in his senior year he feels lost. Broken. Then he meets Ayma and he is drawn to her. Even when some of the people that he considers friends shows their dislike over him being with her. Constantly he still sticks with her and he stays with her when her world falls apart. She makes him feel whole. He doesn't feel Broken when he is with her.

After Ayma discovers some painful information will her and Colton be able to survive the aftermath? And will they be able to survive the return of Colton's ex girlfriend?

I have to start this review off by saying that I absolutely LOVED this book. But second. Poor Ayma. Even for a fictional character being stuck with a name like that is awful but then this book wouldn't have been what it was without her having that unfortunate name. I love Ayma and Colton together. Colton is popular and Ayma is not but he doesn't see that and he gets upset when he hears people use her name out of context. When his ex returns he wants nothing to do with her although one of his so called friends keeps trying to throw her in his face. The young couple faces a number of challenges and it all comes down to whether they are strong enough to survive. This is truly a wonderful book that I could not put down and I highly recommend reading. I am definitely anticipating the next book!

I received a copy in exchange of an honest review.

I loved this book-it depicts, in a very realistic way, all the angst and anguish of high school, true friendship, first love, all the good and wonderful as well as the very bad. Add to the mix a mother completely void of any maternal feelings and some very villain high school kids and you'll get a very compelling story.
Ayma has an unfortunate name, tough to deal with through the public school where she wanted to be in order to escape the confining upper class where her mom wants to keep her, a mom that lacks any motherly feelings, a father who shines by his absence and a bunch of geek friends who give them all the love she so much lacks. Colton comes from a very loving family and is admired by the boys and desired by the girls in school, but he has his own demons, including a bitter first love and a stay in juvie. As improbable at it seems, Ayma and Colton fall in love and from that point the author paints a very sweet and endearing love story, along with all the fears that go along; geek friends, especially Tabby are a great support, villains like Reagan are maleficent and the book is a real page turner. If one can hardly understand Ayma's mom attitude of total neglect, a clue is given at the end of the book (no spoiler)as a further clarification to her lack of moral and professional ethics, concerning her involvement in Colton's case. The true question is how will the love story go, with all the complications and bad things that keep being thrown at Ayma and Colton? The response is in getting the other books-which I did :)
I recommend this book to anyone searching for a good read that combines love, intrigue and a master story teller.

"All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way" Leo Tolstoy. This book turns the idea of stereotypes and cliques on its head. With the main character being Ayma, what does she really have to complain about, while all here friends live in 'trailer park' she lives in a beautiful mansion, has a GPA people would die for and two successful parents. But looks can be deceiving. Colton is the quintessential jock, he played Varsity football in freshman year, has lots of mates and all the girls want to date him. But each character in this book is as the title says 'broken' but each in their own way. This book is beautifully written, stripping back the facades of each character to reveal their true and honest personalities, while somehow still exploring the 'authentic' high school experience with tests, teachers and the social disparities felt amongst the groups.

Broken is such a wonderfully written book with some of the universal themes being love and friendship. The storyline evolves by integrating a variety of different characters expectations and their own demons they have to face. This text is the personification of the saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' with each character having a unique past, present and future that is not defined by their perceived stereotype. And if all this sounds a bit too full on there is some beautiful eye candy throughout the book to keep you going, a la Colton.

I really enjoyed reading Broken and I couldn't put it down. It was a great "high school" centered book which I usually don't read as much. This one had a smooth flow, enjoyable characters and a nice slow romantic relationship too. There were a lot of secrets hidden throughout and wasn't super predictable.

Ayma had a terrible name given to her by her mother which gave her a hard time in school and growing up. She had a small amount of friends and had to wear "librarian" clothing as she called it and basically led a loner life due to her mother. Colton was misunderstood because of his time in juvie and he had his own misfortunes we learn along the way. They were assigned as partners in class and slowly became friends. Ayma had a lot of trust issues and was extremely naive but it was believable based on her upbringing. The jello scene made me laugh out loud.

Colton and Ayma were a good match. She helped him find himself again after returning to school and he helped her experience love and normal teenage events. I was really sad to see the book end with a sort of cliffhanger as you want to rush to read book 2 right after. I can't wait to see what is in store for these characters next.

FIVE FREAKING ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC STARS *****

So where to start... Well you meet the m/c Amya Kuntz... (said Ima Cunt)... Rough! Not only does she have a horrid name for any high schooler but a mom who doesn't seem to know she's a mom. Amya goes through the motions... not fighting back, just living her day to day. Until Colton... who FYI... brings a new meaning to SEXY... Can I have a Colton please???
Every turn there is something in the way, someone or something making life difficult... These two have different pasts and neither has dealt with it all. They piece together their "broken" lives through healing each other. Nothing is what it seems though.
Izzibella Beau had me drawn in from the first page. I wanted more and more and when it ended... I wanted to start the next one right away!!! Definitely check this book out... ONE CLICK IT RIGHT NOW!!! You won't be sorry!

I almost didn't finish the book but I kept reading it. Started off kind of slow but then it grabbed me and I couldn't put it down. I was sobbing by the end of the book. Of course there's a cliffy so I'm now onto book 2 but otherwise this was a great book. First book I've read by this author and am happy to have found a new author to stalk LOL

Ayma Kuntz has been cursed with a rather unfortunate name, one that has haunted her through middle and high school years. Her overly controlling mother and absent father certainly don't make her life any easier. Her small group of friends are her only real support system, and what they can do is limited because Ayma doesn't let them see much of what really goes on in her life.

The beginning of this novel had a rough start for me. There was a lot of exposition that "told" the reader what was happening, and the teenage voice was almost too realistic in the beginning, where it almost felt like stream of consciousness writing. However, after the initial introduction, I felt like the voice became stronger and I was able to get into Ayma's head a little better and experience the story with her rather than just watch it from the sidelines.

While some of the characters seem stereotypical at first, Beau does a good job of fleshing them out as the story progresses and making them come alive. Ayma is a very broken young woman who is struggling to pull her life together and survive some rather traumatic experiences, but Colton is just as strong of a character with his own demons to face. Even with a bit of a slow start, I found myself really enjoying the characters and being eager to know what was going to happen next in this story.

There is a good deal of profanity in the book, so it's not for younger readers. There are also several sex scenes, although they weren't overly descriptive and focused more on the emotional aspects. I would limit this recommendation to older teens and adults.

Ayma Kuntz, the z is silent, is always being picked on for her name. Then she makes friends with Tabby, Brady and their friends. But she is in the advanced classes and her mother does not allow any distractions. Her father left years before and now is married with baby twins. She never sees her mother, a top in the country lawyer, so she is able to get out some and actually learn to socialize. She meets Colton the first day of their senior year in a Life class. He is coming back from being in prison for 2 years, no one is really sure why!! The teacher assigns them to be a pair for the year, he really likes her and she likes him, and acts like she is starstruck. With Tabby's help Ayma learns how to be a girl and be a girlfriend.
Then Izzabella pulls out all the stops to bring the biggest shock of all in Ayma's life. Her mother comes home and finds Ayma and Colton together in a compromising position and she ends up telling Ayma she has hated her her whole miserable life. Ayma's father forgot to wear a condom and she got pregnant. She named her Ayma and used her mother's maiden name to cause Ayma the most grief in her life. I was floored with this new revelation. WOW just Wow. Who does that to an innocent child?
There is more to come and more to learn in the next installment. I can't wait to read it.
Yes this is YA but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole story.

I totally enjoyed the story of Ayma and her interactions with her friends. I found myself liking all three main characters, Ayma, Tabby and of course, Colton, with the gorgeous eyes. Her relationship with her mom was particularly painful for me as a mother.

The story was written in the voice of the main character, Ayma, which put me in mind of Judy Blume’s, Are You There God. Ayma tried to present herself to the outside world as simple and retiring, but underneath there was a teenager with a lot of spunk, and a sense of humor to match. It was all played out in her head, however. She didn’t think she was good enough, a phase that all teenagers go through, especially girls. The author did a, excellent job in Ayma’s voice. As the thoughts came to Ayma’s head they were revealed to the reader. The scene where he gave her a promise ring and admitted to being a broken 15 year old before he met her had me crying, and when she in turn told him, “I just wanted someone to love me, even with all my little and big flaws”, I was truly crying then. As a YA book, Broken delivered so much more than I ever imagined—the fragility of first love and human beings’ ability to triumph in the end. I highly recommend this book.

Although Amya’s parents are both successful attorneys her life is anything but easy. Constantly ridiculed by her peers for her name and never quite fitting in. Her mother pays her no attention unless she is criticizing her. As for her father she hasn’t seen or spoken to him in years. Colton has had a rough life none more trying than the last few years though. He finally makes it back to his old school and things are not the same, he is no longer the same. Then of course who would be after having spent time in juvie. Amya and Colton get paired together for a class and things move forward from there. Amya has a great group of friends who are constantly trying to bring her out of the little bubble her mother has kept her in. To say she has lived a secluded life would be putting it mildly. As Colton and Amya get closer they fall in love. To say their relationship hit some bumps in the road would be putting it mildly. To see these two broken souls come together to make each other whole is truly wonderful and makes me believe that anything is possible. This is a beautifully written story about young love and the resilience we all seem to have; I could not put this book down and cannot wait to see what happens next.

I loved this book so much I can't even explain it. I usually do not read books about teenage love or cliffhangers, and this was both. This book centers on Ayma Kuntz Her mother named her that because she hated being pregnant and didn't want her so she wanted her to suffer like she had to. Ayma's parents are both successful Lawyers. They are divorced. Her father now lives in California and she is in Florida. Ayma wasn't allowed friends and her mother never celebrated holidays. She spent most of her time in the house alone or with the servants. She has been teased most of her life just because of her name. Now as a senior she starts to make friends that her mom has no knowledge of . She also meets a handsome boy Colton. He is a typical bad boy. The story centers on Ayma and her life. Just read it you won't be sorry. The emotions I felt while I was reading this book and the tears I cried were many. There is some sex scenes in this book so it may not be for all. If you read this though, it will leave you wanting to finish this series, which I now intend to do A great read An ARC was provided for an honest review

This book has potential. It could be a good YA story. But spending hours sifting through the dragging, slow, repetitive massive book I just read, makes it hard to enjoy. It would need a bit of editing before it's potential is revealed.
I highly disliked Ayma. She was boring, one dimensional and as much as she liked to tell you her life was boring, the reader feels her pain. I thin just because your character is telling you that her life is boring, doesn't mean that the story has to be as well.
I felt nothing of the chemistry in this story. The "romance" just happened. It was hard for me to feel anything for it. There's no development, nothing to really make me feel for them as a couple.
Like I said, I think this story has a large amount of potential. I feel it could be a decent YA story. But as it is now, it really needs a lot of work. It couldn't hold my attention as it is.

I absolutely loved "Broken," and couldn't put it down once I'd started reading. This book has an intriguing storyline packed with plot twists and drama, and by the time I'd finished reading, i felt like I knew the complex, multi-dimensional characters as well as my friends.

Ayma is a slightly geeky, lovable teen, and author Izzibella Beau does an exceptional job of describing first love through her eyes. The fact that Ayma falls for Colton, a hottie with a shocking secret, only makes the book juicier.

The cast of supporting characters, especially Ayma's bestie, Tabby, are vibrant and seem to come to life throughout the book. Beau also makes references to popular TV shows and musicians, which makes the book super-relatable.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fun, easy-to-read, romantic YA fiction. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I don’t usually read young adult books so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I turned the first page of Broken. I was immediately drawn to the characters and wanted to learn more about them. Ayma is a well to do young lady with a horrible mother. Colton is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, or bridge in this case, that has had a miserable last few years and is trying to get his life back in order. They are paired together in a life studies class in high school and their lives will never be the same again. I don’t want to give too much of the story away as it really keeps the reader guessing and I enjoyed the unexpected twists and turns. It was very well written, the characters are well developed, and I am eagerly waiting to see want happens in the next book. Great job!!

So I started Ayma and Colton’s story in Broken (Assumption Series Book 1) by Izzibella Beau and I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happened to them next. So the title of the book sums it up perfectly people can be broken and you never know. Just because someone seems happy, popular, rich or anything else you shouldn’t assume that their life is good because you never know what is going on behind their closed doors. I love how Ayma and Colton are able to battle the problems that they come across from both their past and present. For two eighteen year olds they have had some ups and downs in their life and it seems like there are still more to come. Well I’m off to start the next book you should start the series too.

I enjoyed this book. The beginning was a little slow but eventually it picked up. I normally dont read high school stories but I'm glad I tried this one. I enjoyed seeing Ayma grow. I was not a fan of her mother at all. I loved seeing the relationship bloom between Colten and Ayma. My heart was breaking towards the end of the story. I cant wait to see what happens next.

It took me awhile to get into this book. I started reading it because they said it was like the fallen crest series. I don't see it... Ayma Kuntz Pronounced "I'm a" "kunt" yeah that's her name... Has no back bone.. And acts like a 6th grader. Colton is perfect.. And hello your best friend is sick not her sister you idiot....The second book sounds interesting..but I'm not a fan of the writing style.. So not sure if I will even bother reading it.

I really liked the story idea about Ayma and Colton, two teens struggling with everyday problems at school and at home. Although some parts kept my interest, other parts dragged for me. I debated for two months whether to leave a review and decided I would. Due to a lot of drinking by under-aged students, extended use of profanity, and bedrooms scenes, this may not be appropriate for younger teens.

All the drama!!

Oh my word this book was filled with teen drama and it was amazing! I loved it! The characters are lovable and the storyline flows flawlessly. I felt as if I were right there in the book. Before I knew what was happening it was over and BAM cliffhanger. Ugh. I need to get book two. What's going to happen to Ayma and Colton???

This was a very well written book. The characters were very well written and had depth. I felt I was living their story along with them. The story line was well though out and developed nicely. This book leaves you hanging, wanting to know more of their story. Good thing book two is already out. I look forward to reading more of their story.

Ayma has the worst name a parent could give a child. That's mainly because her Mother can't stand her. Ayma gets paired with Colton the hottie for a school project. They grow close but Ayma can't understand the connection they have. It seems like he's flirting but who would want to flirt with her?! Can Ayma open her eyes and see how beautiful she is, and give her heart away?
