Textual Confusion

Rate this book
I need you tomorrow.
Same time and place as last week.

Who dis?

Did I f*ck you stupid last time? You know.

Between barely scrapping by financially and dealing with a stalker ex-boyfriend, Asher’s life was already problematic enough before randomly receiving a string of texts from an unknown number in the middle of the night.

He should have just done what a normal person would do and ignore them.

But since when had Asher ever been normal? Besides, based on the not-quite-nudes the guy sent, he was clearly hot. Against his better judgment, Asher responds – which doesn’t take long to devolve into depraved sexting.

He wasn’t expecting the man to Venmo him an eye-popping amount of cash for his trouble. (Not that he ever got the money. The guy didn’t know who he was – or that he was even another man, for that matter.)

That should have been the end of it. Except they keep texting. And, like the utter moron he is, it doesn’t take long for Asher to catch feelings.

Honestly, he ought to know better than to fall for rich assholes by now.

(Otherwise known as how Asher Kodet, twenty-three-year-old baker extraordinaire, becomes the accidental sugar baby of Markus Kingston, richest, meanest – but actually the frickin’ sweetest – billionaire CEO in all of Seattle.)

Reread January 2025 — worth the reread just for the cute pics, especially those abs. Skipped the mama drama this time to spare myself the heartache and I enjoyed this story way more without that whole part.

“Sweetheart, as cute as you are when you’re jealous, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.” He brushed a thumb over Asher’s lips. “There’s only one person in my life that I’m absolutely mad for.”

What do you do if a hot billionaire texts you thinking you’re the escort he hired? Why, you answer him of course.

Textual confusion was such a lovable read. Was it perfect? Probably not, but I’ll be accepting zero criticism on it. I LOVED it.
I’m only bummed that it seems there might be images/photos that aren’t available in the ARC version and apparently I’m missing out on Mr. Kingston’s drool-worthy abs. So sad.

“I want to give you the fucking world, you understand?”

Markus was a wet fucking dream. Super swoony and dominant, BDE and an actual big dick, broody and the big asshole Boss for everyone else but a sweet melted marshmallow for Asher. I loved how he cared for Asher, doted on him, praised him.
I’ve been giggling and kicking my feet for the past 3 hours over this gorgeous man.

“Don’t hide those pretty noises from me,” he scolded. “Let Daddy hear the vulgar sounds his pretty baby makes when he’s being fucked stupid.”

Again, my saved quotes are almost entirely dirty & delicious. The smut was insanely good.
I love detailed and long spice scenes. Probably tips this read more on the erotic romance side of the scale, but I’m definitely not complaining.
The daddy kink, the praise, the possessiveness, the neediness. 🫠

“I need to fuck you so badly, baby. My cock’s aching to be inside you. Can Daddy fuck your pretty hole?”

I don’t think I’m capable of formulating more cohesive thoughts except fuuuuuuuuuck. Hopefully, that explains it well enough.

The drama was a bit much, emotionally speaking.
Although most of the book is pretty lighthearted and angst-free, Asher’s parental issues and problems with his ex were heartbreaking and kind of triggering.
I’m just glad the ending was very happy, even though some of the issues never were fully resolved.

“How does he look at me?”
“Like you hung the moon and stars and hold his entire heart in your hands.”

Other than the drama, I really enjoyed this billionaire romance full of amazing friends and found family, an adorable and relatable main character and a hot AF and extremely sweet love interest.

“And he lived happily ever after with his billionaire boyfriend in his huge penthouse, getting railed by the man’s ginormous cock 24/ 7. The end. 🌈 🦄 🍆 💦💖”
“😑”
“Just spitting facts, babe.”

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

idk how i made it thru this whole book really💀 it felt like a self-insert wattpad story of someone who’s super insecure and wants a man to rescue them and solve all their problems for them…..uh sorry but no thanks. like if you’ve read any self-insert corny cringe billionaire daddy romance, don’t bother, you’ve read this one too. markus, mr rescue man himself, wasn’t even likable half the time, like he’s an awful boss and he treats people like shit, but ig it’s okay bc he’s nice to asher??🙄 like markus was throwing out a few red flags of his own…gave me the ick for sure.

what really annoyed the absolute shit outta me tho is basically *checks notes* everything about asher😂 sorry babe🤷‍♀️ asher lets other people tell him how to think and feel to the extreme. he belittles and disparages himself constantly and there’s zero growth at the end either. he needs everyone around him to shower him with compliments that he won’t really believe just to keep him at a shaky neutral baseline. even then, a single irrelevant character can say one bad thing and he will be shaken to his core and back to thinking he’s the worst person in the world and bothering everybody who loves him😭 like just shoot me🤦‍♀️ do u know how annoying it is to read 500 pages of that🥴

and that’s the thing, EVERYBODY (besides asher’s friends, and markus and his parents and nigel) is melodramatically treating asher like the dirt beneath their shoes for no reason other than to create a scenario where markus can step in and “save” asher and stand up for him and protect him. rinse and repeat. what a corny mess. like oh jeez, give me a fucking break🙄 it’s so OBVIOUSLY CONTRIVED every single time. and then asher always tries to insist that he can take care of himself. mind you, he was shaking and shutting down and gearing up to let his poor self-esteem believe any and everything that person was saying. like if i’ve learned ANYTHING in these 500 pages, it’s that asher most certainly is NOT capable of taking care of himself. not even close.

i don’t mind stories about characters with low self-esteem (with GROWTH ffs) finding someone who is the perfect reassurance balm, but this was hit you on the head with it bad melodrama.

sasha was fun tho.

Puuuuh, a bit exhausting this book and all because of the last 100 pages. Drama lama ...
So I liked most of the story. The thing with the wrong phone number and the resulting fake communication was surprisingly amusing. I was afraid it would annoy me, but it was really well done. All the smileys and cute photos in all the communication between Asher and his sugar daddy really lighten things up and were good for my tired eyes.
And even though the plot is almost predictable, I wasn't bored. So really well written, even if I have to admit that this book consists of too many words.
I like how Asher and his sugar daddy develop an unplanned relationship and how the sugar daddy gets soooo possessive.
There are some hot scenes, and again I think well done balance, so not too much.

“You taste so sweet, like fucking candy. I could eat you out all day. You’d like that, wouldn’t you? My little pillow princess, lying there, cheeks spread, ready to be devoured any time I wanted.”
Who the fuck wouldn’t like that?
A smack to the side of his thigh – light, but jolting – made Asher realize the man expected an answer. “I- yes,” he admitted shamefully, voice shaky, “I’d l-like that.”
😳💗😳

The ex-boyfriend thing is predictable but was still ok. Yes melodrama and all that, but I was prepared for it.
But then it should have been enough. I understand why you still have to bring the mom into it, but I would have liked a short resolution. Couldn't she have just been dead from the beginning? ... So, I don't like to criticize plots in such detail, but this really made me super upset.
And now the last few pages are having a negative effect on me, even though I actually thought the book was good. I'm frustrated and don't really feel like reading a new book now, what a bummer.

Maybe some warnings about kink, I don't think it's for everyone:
And in terms of content warning:

Came back for the pictures, smut and possessive ‘touch him and literally die’ vibes; skipped the drama and had a grand old time overall.

These tropes - billionaire x baker, pay for play, anonymous texting, daddy/baby boy (without age play), extreme possessiveness, BDE MC is only soft for his boy and literally no one else - just do it for me, what can I say 🤷‍♀️

Original review
This was FILTHY and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.
Yeah yeah, it was kinda predictable and a little ott but also so fucking DELICIOUS!
Kinky, extremely possessive, heartwarming. I literally could not stop reading, their dynamic was just so intoxicating and utterly addictive. What a fun and hot read! ❤️‍🔥

Also, how cute were the texts and especially the pictures/selfies? I’ve never seen something like this in a book before and it was super refreshing for the eyeballs!

This book had some questionable choices regarding the romance plot (questionable for me, I mean, some people just loooove this kind of stories) and I skimmed a tinny tiny bit, but I actually read it in 2 days. So there's that.
Due to a mistake, Ash starts sexting with a billionaire daddy who turns out to be his best friend's boss. They enter a contract, Ash as an escort and Markus as his daddy. And we all know how that's gonna go, right? Right.
Ofc Markus is besotted and it's obvious to everyone but Ash...🙄
Ash had a shitty childhood (enter evil mother character) and a shitty ex (enter evil ex bf character), which are the ones that add a bit of angst (very 2000s BL manga to me, no shade but you get what I mean). And ofc Ash is his own worst enemy, because what would a age gap sugar daddy romance be without the sweet heroine, I mean, hero with self-esteem issues.
Besides the instances where Markus goes all protective daddy, the highlight of the book was Sasha (and Danny by extension). Gotta love that mum friend who will stop at nothing to protecc lil' Ash.
Throw in some very VERY hot smut and a bit of hurt comfort, add a dash of third act almost breakup and drama, et voilà: I ate this shit up like a champ.

Man, I’m so damn mad right now. This book could’ve been a favorite, easy 5-star read. It ticked all of my boxes, premise- and tropes-wise. But I had quite the few issues with the second half of the book and the not so small amount of typos drove me mad. It took me out of the story so hard every time.

Please, dear author, take this goodie on another editing ride. Pretty please!

Besides that, this story was a major cutie and very entertaining. I loved it (for the most part). And it was the first time since its release that I wished I had one of these new kindle colorsofts because Asher and Markus were not only texting a lot throughout the whole book but also sending each other pictures which the author also displayed for the reader. That was absolutely great and the first time I’ve seen it in a book. But hey, it was still cool in b/w and I looked them up on my phone too while reading.

And God, I sooo love when the rich dude mc doesn’t have snobby pricks as parents but ones who are actually nice and approachable! It’s a mystery really, how Markus could turn out to be such a mean asshole to everyone but Asher. —which I know many of my fellow readers actually love. *lol

There was also some (or a lot) drama that was pushed right over the line of OTT and made me roll my eyes. I mean, the crazy ex and an evil mom? Both living to make Asher feel worthless and unlovable? Only for Daddy Markus to swoop in furiously and make it all better? Every time? It was all pretty damsel in distress.

Another pause.
“You’re right. You’re not the prettiest boy in Seattle.” Asher blinked at the whiplash, […] “You’re the most beautiful fucking person on the entire goddamn planet.”

“Do you want to know why?”
“Why?”
“Because I fucking said so.

BUT, major shoutout for Sasha. That girl was a hoot. And one protective badass of a best friend.

Final verdict: This book has some flaws but it’s def worth reading.

I am so in love with this book it is unreal. I wish I could read this again for the first time.

So basically Asher gets a sexy text from an unknown number. Turns out it was meant to go to a sugar baby, but the numbers got mixed up. Asher decides that he’ll play along and text back. And that’s how he unknowingly became a sugar baby to a millionaire. They end up meeting, and then Asher becomes his sugar baby for real.

I loved Asher’s daddy Markus. Dude was absolutely OBSESSED with Asher. It was so cute. Asher would say something bad about himself and Markus would be like don’t talk about my baby like that. So in love with them. And the amount of sex in this. Absolutely perfect.

The text exchanges in this were so fun. I love texting in books, and there was so much here. Such a fun time.

I need to read more books like this thank youuuuu.

Textual Confusion was so addictive, I couldn't put it down. It was dramatic, over the top, and I couldn't get enough of it. Texts, along with pictures the characters send each other are sprinkled throughout the book and they added another level of immersion that was really enjoyable.

The story follows Asher who, after getting a new phone and number due to an ex that's harassing him, gets mistakenly texted by a man asking to hook-up again. After seeing how hot the stranger is, Asher decides to play along and continue sexting texting the guy.

It turns out the stranger, Markus, is a billionaire CEO who wanted a sugar baby because he doesn't have time for a real relationship. Now it wouldn't be a romance without some feelings being caught. The development of Asher and Markus's was great. The unique situation added a lot of interest to their dynamic. (Even if I did want to shake them at times and yell at them to use their words!)

The spice was off the charts with this one. And it was really good stuff that never got repetitive or boring.

The book does need some more editing. There were too many errors like duplicate words, typos and things like that. Now, it didn't detract from the story (I still gave it 5 stars), but I can see how it could annoy others too much.

⭐️ 5/5 🌶️ 4/5 — Equal parts filth and forever—Markus made me blush, beg, and believe.

This book has absolutely no business being so damn fun, swoony, and sweet—but here it is, wrecking my whole heart in the best way. This book owned me. I was glued to the pages like my life depended on it. I legit had to force myself to stop reading at 2 A.M. before I fell back into my usual chaos of reading till sunrise with dead eyes and a full heart. 😍

The texting/online relationship/pen pal trope? Catnip. One of my all-time favorites and so hard to find done well—so finding this gem, and it being MM on top of that? Heaven. Literal heaven. 🥹🤌🏻

Also, can we talk about how this book includes pictures of their selfies and a whole lotta emojis? The whole reading experience felt so immersive and playful—it seriously made everything more adorable and addictive. 😆

Now, about Markus and Asher. God. DAMN.
Let’s start with Markus. That man is a walking, talking wet dream. He’s the perfect Daddy/boyfriend and the ultimate “only soft for him” trope in action. A Daddy Dom who actually knows how to communicate and listens? Who’s consistent, attentive, and puts words into action? Yes, please. Markus takes care of Asher like it’s his life’s mission. Weekly grocery deliveries? Check. Broken heater? Fixed instantly. Out of chocolate chips? Boom—expect every kind delivered, no questions asked. All while being a busy billionaire CEO. No biggie. Just casually out here destroying my already fragile expectations of men. I only trust fictional ones at this point. 😌

Asher, oh my sweet baby. He’s kind, soft, sweet, and so damn lovable. He’s a baker, and yes, he’s that good. He’s the perfect, obedient baby boy for Markus—and the way Markus absolutely worships him? I’m weak. He dotes on him, protects him, spoils him, and genuinely treasures him. Everyone else? Markus couldn’t give a single fuck. It’s Asher or nothing. In Markus's eyes, Asher can do no wrong. He just needs to breathe and exist and that's enough to make Markus happy. And yes—I'm jealous as fuck. But also? Obsessed. ❤️‍🔥

And don't even get me started on how fucking jealous and protective Markus is. There's this whole situation with Asher's piece-of-shit ex, Trent—who cheated on Asher and kept stalking and harassing him, even after Asher changed numbers. Trent just couldn't fuckin' quit. And when that asshole ambushed Asher during one of Markus's company events and beat him bloody in the bathroom, baby... Markus lost his goddamn mind. Man broke down the fucking door like a beast, saw red, and wrecked Trent. Straight-up beat him so hard the bastard ended up in a medical coma with multiple broken ribs and a face so busted the doctors had to rebuild it. It was savage, brutal, and so goddamn hot. 🔥

The angst? Yeah, it hit hard. Asher struggles with low self-esteem and poor communication when it comes to expressing his fears and insecurities—and as someone who deals with that too, it hit a raw, painful nerve. It’s a vicious cycle, one that’s hard to break without someone helping you through it. And that’s where Markus comes in. He’s patient, understanding, and everything Asher didn’t know he needed. ✨️

Pro tip: If you’re soft like me and can’t handle too much angst, I’d recommend skipping the chapter with Asher’s mom. Trust me, it makes the whole reading experience smoother and more enjoyable. ✅️

Now let’s get to the spice. The sexting, the flirty teasing, the build up—it’s all hot as hell. Markus oozes BDE and yes, the man is packing. His dirty talk? Absolutely filthy in the best fuckin’ way. And when the real action starts? Let’s just say Asher got railed, and I was jealous as hell. 😤

Overall? This was an absolute blast to read. A rare gem that hits the sweet spot between soft, spicy, and swoony. I adored it! 💎💞

-
Quotes:

Deliciously filthy Markus:

"You'd beg to be my little pillow princess, wanting nothing more than to be filled to the brim with my cum 24/7, until you were bloated with it, constantly dripping."
-
“Don’t hide those pretty noises from me,” he scolded. “Let Daddy hear the vulgar sounds his pretty baby makes when he’s being fucked stupid.”
-
"I'd make a mess of you. By the time I was finished, there'd be cum in your hair, your eyelashes. I'd mark every last inch of you. And when I was finished, I'd gather up all that sticky cum with my hand and feed it to you like a baby. You'd be a good boy and lick my fingers clean, wouldn't you?"
-
“I need to fuck you so badly, baby. My cock’s aching to be inside you. Can Daddy fuck your pretty hole?”
-

Quotes:

Tooth-achingly sweet Markus:

Asher pouted. “Have you always been this mean?” he asked. “I feel like you used to be nicer to me.”
“Sweetheart, I’m nicer to you than I am to anyone else in this world.”
-
“That’s right. You’re mine. From the moment I fucking saw you, all I wanted to do was spoil you fucking rotten, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do – forever. Anything you can think of and everything you can’t – it’s yours, baby, all of it. All you have to do is stay.”
-
“Oh, sweetheart,” Markus all but cooed, “isn’t it obvious? I’ve been wrapped around your fucking pinkie since the day we met. I’m yours, and there’s nothing you could ever do to ruin that. Because I. fucking. love. you.”

My review:

First of all, let's start with two things that made me want to DNF this lol.
1. YOU CANNOT LICK SOMEONE'S PROSTATE!!!! Unless we're in a monster fucker romance and your tongue is as long as my forearm, you cannot reach someone's prostate with your tongue.
2. If I read the word "spunk" one more time to describe cum, I will kms. Who even uses that word?? WHY???.

Okay, now, let's get to the actual review lmao.

This was one of those books I kept picking back up without really thinking about it. I wasn’t blown away, but I was entertained almost the entire time, which honestly matters more to me. It’s easy to read, easy to get into. The plot ... well, it kinda exists, but if you're looking for something that will make you want to guess what's going to happen and where the author is going with this.... forget it, it's all very predictable and not original, but I liked the author's writing enough for this to not bother me. (and I also was in the right mood)

The texting aspect was probably what hooked me the most. I didn’t expect it to play such a big role, but it made the connection between the characters feel more natural and modern, especially with the pictures and emojis (like yes, we get actual, real-life people pictures in the book of both MCs). The fact that we got so much of their relationship through texts made their dynamic feel lived-in instead of rushed, and also very real, which I really appreciated.

Emotionally, the book kind of goes back and forth. Most of it feels light and fun, but then there are moments that suddenly get pretty heavy, especially when it comes to Asher. Some of that hit hard and felt very real, while other parts tipped into melodrama for me. By the end, I was a little tired of the constant escalation, even though I was still invested enough to want to see how everything played out but yes I was ready for this to end lol. Which is why this isn't a 5 stars for me.

The romance itself worked for me more often than not. It’s messy, a bit unbalanced, and sometimes frustrating, but I didn’t find myself bored. The dynamic is clearly meant to be intense and a little over the top, and while that won’t be for everyone, I think the author still did a good job. The spice was there, noticeable but not overwhelming, and it fit the tone of the story with some very specific kinks, but I know some of these will not be for everyone, despite not being hardcore at all.

I don’t think this is a book I’ll think about forever, but I had a good time reading it, and sometimes that’s enough. It has flaws, it drags in places, and it leans hard into drama, but it also has charm and moments that genuinely made me smile. Solid 4 stars for me.

I honestly don’t know how to rate this. I had a lot of issues with this book and considered dnf’ing it multiple times. The book was riddled with typos and structural/phrasing errors, was unnecessarily long and almost frustratingly wordy, and had some anatomically improbable (inconceivable?) sex scenes that were very distracting and had me questioning my sanity the whole way through reading. But I can’t deny I enjoyed the story… mostly… (at least the first 3/4 of it. The last 1/4 was just tedious, angsty, drama). I just think it could use some major editing and content quality control. Like, a lot of editing. The number of errors was honestly a little overwhelming.
I love text chat fics so much and the pics were a nice addition (though they also could have used some quality control editing to ensure continuity between the pics), but that wasn’t enough to save it for me. This read a lot like an unbeta’d fan fiction written by someone who couldn’t be bothered to research anything they were writing about.
The mc annoyed the hell out of me and I wanted to reach through my kindle and smack him several times throughout the book. Sasha was great. Loved her. No notes. And Markus was pretty great too, honestly. I liked his ridiculously possessive, over the top, whipped puppy vibe. I could even get behind the “he’s only nice to you” thing he had going on. But I’m gonna admit that the daddy kink didn’t sit well with me. It felt icky. I got the feeling that Asher was being infantilized entirely and I didn’t like it. It felt less like a kink and more like just straight up daddy issues. And let’s not even get into the ridiculous and down right impossible rimming scenes. Because that was just painful to read.
So yeah… clearly I didn’t really like this as much as I was hoping to. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I liked most of this book, especially how they met, how they actually met, and their dynamic. Daddy kink is my least favorite thing in the world but it worked here, even I can see that.

My only beefs with this book are:

It went on too long. The whole thing with the mother wasn't necessary. I think the story could have ended after the previous big drama fine. Or the mother and ex could have colluded, which I think would make the choice he made after dealing with his mother make a lot more sense.

Two: there were THREE catty, snotty women who bullied/harassed the MC. They were all exactly the same women, really. Beautiful, mean, didn't believe him, treated him like shit, blah blah blah. They were carbon copies of each other. It was so beyond sexist and tiresome. One was fine, two was eye-rolling but okay, but when you get to Mean Girl Clone #3? And the encounter is almost exactly the same as the previous one? What is the point of that.

Ok the more i think abt this book and think about how all these serious events/topics (stalking, domestic violence, SA, "fake" suicide attempt, child abuse, etc) that were left unprocessed and poorly addressed, the more i keep editing my post and dropping my rating so ima stop now and settle on 0/1 stars. If you've ever dealt with any of this issues in real life, i think this book will likely leave you feeling as weird and rage-y as it left me feeling. I won't be reading this author again with how this book and its darker themes were mishandled but written in such a lighthearted fashion. Sorry in advance for this rw being all over the place bc i literally started writing it as a shaky 4 star review and then kept coming back to edit more and more and the star rating kept dropping the more i processed what the fuck i just read.

The TW page is not specific enough (detailed below) and also Markus as an MC was inconsistent (see spoilers section below). This book was meant to be lighthearted overall and it def reads that way but then i sat with it a bit more and its hard for me to rate this higher bc it left me feeling uneasy with how many serious topics/ events were glossed over and it feels like the MCs were just "chugging" along thro the plot for the sake of it without processing anything and it all felt rushed even tho the book was plenty long so there should have been room for it.

I didnt have a problem with the writing and i didnt mind that it was definitely an over the top (OTT) rom com-ish 'impossible life' book. But when the darker / heavier topics started to pop up and it seemed like the MCs weren't really processing anything. i finished this book wanting to turn to both of the MCs, looking at them in disbelief, and ask them sincerely if they're ok bc they shouldnt be.

It seems like sex was used as a way to delfect off real topics. I would have loved to be able to see Asher growing a bit more and be more reflective considering the abuse he's endured nearly his entire life and was presently going thro. I think this book was too lighthearted considering the themes they touch on and didnt do the heavier topics justice. So as a result, after all that, I'm left feeling really really weird about this book.

Single POV, 3rd person
Steam: 3.5 / 5
Trigger warnings not listed on the content warnings that i feel should have been listed:
- it says 'instances of graphic violence' but i think it should explicitly say that its happens to a main MC (Asher) as well as threats of SA all by the abusive ex. It was definitely jarring going into that scene without that specification and was sad to see. Idk if the author was going for something "triumphant" here bc the Asher was trying to speak up for himself but it was just anxiety provoking and left me with tension. I dont think this extreme of a scene was needed and couldnt be handled appropriately in this book bc of how "light-hearted" the rest of it was before and after this scene. It felt like so many negative experiences were unprocessed by Asher already and this was a major thing. And then Markus' weird reaction to this (in the spoilers below) just felt insensitive.
- Very strong negative self talk that isn't truly properly addressed or acknowledged by anyone.
- ik this is more of a spoiler (details below) but for readers seeing this review that might be triggered by this, theres this fake suicide gimick that Asher "accidentally" does that really made me rage bc you dont just do that fucking shit and im genuinely upset the author wrote this as a plot point, seemingly just for the sake of drama.

So, I badly wanted to give this 5 stars. Or almost 5 stars. For the majority of this book, aside from a few too many typos here and there, I was loving this.

Asher is a sweetheart, and overall a kind and adorable person. He deserves to be loved by Markus because he's been through so much in his life, and his latest ex-boyfriend is awful and abusive - even if he wasn't physically - and won't stop texting him.

Which is what prompts him to change his number, which turns out to be the number of the escort Markus had been using - although wouldn't that mean she had to randomly stop using her number and change it for Asher to get it? I just imagine that to just go with it. Although why she'd change her number that would give her communication with a billionaire who'd pay her so well - is beyond me...but suspension of disbelief or something. Maybe she also had stalker-y ex idk - and he gets a random text form him one night that changes things for both forever.

Asher doesn't tell him he's not the escort at first, but they get to texting some sexy things and then as time goes on some things outside of sex as well, and they have a connection, even though Asher is avoiding the fact that his "Mystery Man" thinks he's someone else.

But we find out Markus figured it out pretty early on, and when they accidentally meet in person at a work function - because one of Asher's best friends, Danny works at the company Markus is the CEO of - there is an instantly strong connection in person as well.

Only, Markus seemingly only wants a contract, just sex, as it's easier to deal with than a relationship. Asher is bummed and going to say no, but his boss at the bakery he works for is selling his shop, and offered it to him for only 100k. Being payed by Markus is his chance to buy and own his own bakery.

So he says yes, even though he's already gaining feelings for Markus.

This is soley from Asher's POV, but that didn't make it hard to understand how quickly gone Markus is for Asher. But Asher has very big insecurity and self-esteem issues. It doesn't help that others around him have made him feel like dirt for no reason.

I understand a lot of his reactions and feelings about things for the majority of this. That no matter how kind Markus is, no matter how well he treats him, he did offer him a contract and make it seemingly about just sex at first and Asher is trying to remember that at times, to keep himself in check.

But what he does near the end is beyond stupid and I just could NOT get past it. Like okay, what happens is wild and his and he really gets in his head about it, but...

What did he think was going to happen?! He .

Just idiotic, the whole thing. And of course and sets him right but I wanted him to be called out even more. Having insecurities and self-esteem issues doesn't mean you just get to be a moron. Also it was just highly over and melodramatic for the sake of being overdramatic for the climax of the story. Like has Asher ever heard of talking to people? Also he should have 100% been in therapy by the end of this.

Ugh it pissed me off so much that along with the typos throughout this, made me give it a star off. I was sorely tempted to give this only .5 stars off, but the more I thought about it and what Asher did, the more pissed off I got and just couldn't give it more stars.

Also I wasn't 100% happy with that ending. I mean, everything before it was pretty good and give them a pretty solid HEA, but like...why end with . Like I get it's on theme with the title, but it just left it feeling a bit abrupt. Or maybe the . Instead it's with his friends and I wasn't quite happy with that.

So yeah. What Asher does at the climax of the story near the end, the typos throughout this (although less in the second half, I will say) and part of the ending all contributed to my star off.

But otherwise, I would have given this perhaps 4.5 stars (because despite loving all of it, there were too many typos imo) or 4.75 stars.

I loved their chemistry and how much Markus doted on Asher, and I love that "I hate basically everyone but you" trope, or the "I'm not nice to anyone but you" trope. I read this so fast, I just couldn't put it down, and I was up until 4AM finishing this.

So there's so many good things about this, and I'm definitely reading more of this author. Just, a proper editor is needed and perhaps not making ones characters do very melodramatic things. Most of this story was awesome, though, so I'm excited to dive into more of this author's work.

Onto the next!

1.5 stars. This book pissed me off SO bad. The premise is that Asher, a sweet and hapless baker, gets a new number and then receives some mysterious texts from someone who is clearly in a transactional sexual relationship with someone else. For whatever bizarre reason, Asher pretends to be this other person and gets a little attached. In any case, the lie is obviously exposed, and he goes on with his life. Then he ends up at a swanky party and meets mysterious billionaire Markus, who just so happens to be the person on the phone (and his best friend's boss). WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?? I fucking hate random and stupid coincidences, and this one really takes the cake. For real though, what are the chances that out of millions of numbers, you run into the person who randomly accidentally texted you. So lazy and dumb. At this point, I started hate-reading more than anything else. Anyway, this plot point serves to get Asher and Markus in the same room so that they can embark on a Pretty Woman-style relationship where Markus pays for sex and Asher's company. But honestly, there had to be another way. This was just too much of a stretch.

Firstly, this book is CORNY. Like so, so corny. There's hardly any time for this relationship to develop before the supposedly cold-hearted billionaire is acting like a lovesick puppy. It just felt super out of character. If they had spent time together, and we could see Markus slowly being charmed by Asher, I would get it. But right from the start things are coming on too strong, it just felt so forced. It's also corny because the author decided to include pictures. Actual pictures of the characters and other random shit. Like what was the reason?? Brother, ugh. Please god, let this not become a trend, I do not want to be forced to picture book characters in a certain way.

Another thing, everyone in this book is entirely one dimensional. Except Asher because he is dumb and pathetic, and that is two things. I hate everything about him, and I genuinely do not understand Markus's infatuation. He makes the dumbest possible decisions at every turn, he cannot communicate for shit, and he certainly can't read a room or make sense of context clues. He is also a massive drama magnet. A lot of this book is just people being terrible to him and him taking it because he's kind of a little bitch.

Then there's the fact that this book is exceptionally and unnecessarily long, and you would think that a long book about a sugar daddy and baby relationship would be spicier, but actually there are a scant handful of sexy times. I feel like we don't quite get enough of Markus and Asher on page just being together, there's always some nonsense happening.

Suffice it to say that I found this book to be a frustrating, meandering mess. It contained the bones of a better, more coherent story, but I am not an archaeologist. So glad it's over.

Textual Confusion is the story of Asher and Markus. The story starts with Asher getting a text in the middle of the night from a number he doesn't recognize and a stranger thinking he is his escort. Instead of ignoring it Asher answers back and things take off from there. I loved this book so much. Asher is just the sweetest most adorable guy ever. Yes he has issues but doesn't everyone. This book has it all heat, a bit of kink and a great story. I loved the characters especially Sasha Asher's friend. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. I would definitely recommend this book.

Ohoho, this book was everything I hate. The Daddy thing (oh, breed me), the overall stupidity, the incincerity of it all, the cliches. Why did I pick it up then, you ask? Well, texting. I like the trope where the arrangement starts with texting/online convos. And the photos were a nice touch. I would have just DNFed and not rated, butt....Butt, my dear ones, you cannot touch and stimulate the prostate with your tongue!!!! Physically not possible. How long is this tongue? This is only happening in Roe Horvat's demon tales, thank me later. How is it that in this book the prostate aligns with the belly button (also, what?!) and at the same time you can reach it during rimming, with the tongue?! How?
Do some research, people. Stick a finger up your man's bum, if they are into it, and ... Do some research. Or at least, read some on gay sex, from people who have experienced it.

Daddy Kink

I guess it could be any young gay man’s dream to meet a guy like Markus. It was certainly beyond Asher’s wildest imagination. When he started receiving texts from an unknown number asking why he, Asher, hadn’t turned up for a date he was very confused but then decided to play along when the man said he had already put the money into his (Asher’s) account.

Of course the truth came out after a couple of days of these texts and the swapping of photos between them. Asher became a bit scared and stopped responding. Until a commitment to his best friend changed everything.

Suffice to say that most of Asher’s dreams became a distinct possibility very soon after and he felt he was living the dream. And he was, until his ex turned up and caused huge problems especially for Markus. Just when one thing gets resolved Asher’s worst nightmare surfaces and destroys his self esteem and confidence, even his very existence.

Asher was lucky he has two of the best nosey friends in Danny, whose family saved him as a youngster from neglect and starvation, and his girlfriend Sasha, Asher’s work colleague. They act as his protectors whenever he gets in sticky situations.

The Heat Level in ‘Textual Confusion’ is sky high, with lots of dirty talk in the heated moments and there is definitely a lot of them here. You just never know what can happen when someone gets the wrong Text message.❤️🔥🧨.
If like me, you take a blind chance on a new author, you just might enjoy the fun and frolics here from Fifer Rose. Though I Have to say that a lot of editing mistakes are strewn throughout this book.

DNF 30%

I haven't rated this, because I didn't want to bring the average down, considering that maybe it is just me.
Everyone else seems to love this.
I didn't feel any connection with the characters, couldn't get invested in the story, and one of the MCs was a complete arsehole to everyone else, so I knew I would be able to learn to like him.

Sorry guys, this one wasn't for me.

Baker/accidental escort meets daddy of his dreams; billionaire falls hard for baker.

Some rather good elements, some cringe, some OTT. Also, can we make love interests millionaires instead of billionaires? There aren't really that many of the latter.

1.5 stars. This book had so many issues. First up, it was way too long. 250 pages too long. The author should’ve quit while she was ahead. By the time the hateful mother showed up on the scene, this was so far off the rails it was painful. The hotel scene at 90% was crazy. I sorely wish the author had had Asher use his safe word and have them deal with their ridiculous drama with some good old-fashioned verbal communication instead of the ludicrous and disturbing spanking scene. I wasn’t a fan of either character. Marcus was a controlling unpredictable asshole, Asher just a sad sack. I often felt embarrassed for him. Then there was the insanity of Marcus stroking Asher's prostate with his tongue 🤦‍♀️ Was Marcus a lizard? Please author, do better. The text pics were cute at first but became ridiculous (a texted pic of a PAN of brownies apparently snuck into Marcus’s CARRY-ON?? Good grief). Frustration and flaws all around. I do not recommend this.

I pulled an all nighter because of this book and I don’t regret it once since bit.

Asher and Markus were perfection and the writing was amazing. You’re sucked in from the first page and it doesn’t let you go until the last.

There wasn’t any of the usual or predictable angst that you’d expect with a secret identity story. The gig is up fairly early on and they meet early too. It felt so night to get that out of the way in the beginning.

Asher is just the best. He’s also the absolute worst but aren’t we all. He makes some peculiar decisions but Markus could watch Asher burn down a building and not blink an eye. The way Markus loves that man is like a fairy tale.

My only qualm is that some aspects of the sex scenes were unrealistic in terms of tongue usage. 👀

I loved this book and it’ll be living rent free in my head. 😭

I received a complimentary copy of this book but this is my honest and voluntary review 🖤

Pros:
Really good spice for the first half and generally in the first half the relationship had potential to go somewhere enjoyable.

Cons:
Your choice of female side characters are spunky bff without that much depth, various women on page for two seconds who exist only to be jealous of MC1, or a 1 dimensional addict.

Spice is a let down after the first half (except for one scene near the end) and the relationship felt like it fizzled out a bit, so not much was left to fill the gap.

Biphobia near the beginning (ex claims he only cheats on MC1 with a woman because he is bi and therefore can't be expected to stick to one gender). It might be coming from a "bad guy" but it just didn't need to be there at all - pick another excuse! - and also never got called out in the text as being biphobic.

Use of the f slur.
