Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
This book came out less than 4 hours ago and I've finally finished it (4am is a completely normal bedtime for readers, right?). I still have tears streaming so there may be spelling mistakes (and unintentional spoilers)
I don't think this could've ended the series any better. I always find final books to be bittersweet, this one was no different. Tamsin is such a badass with a heart of gold. I'm glad she stays true to her character throughout, with the addition of healing from her childhood traumas (while also smacking the bad guys around of course)
The guys have developed so much throughout the series, especially Lucca, and I'm so happy with the final vision. Tamsin deserves all the happiness and chaos they'll bring her.
While I wish I could keep reading books in this world, I'm also happy Tamsin's story comes to a close. 26 books is a lot! Definitely worth a few re-reads, just keep the tissues nearby because the emotions hit hard in several books! If ever there was a spin-off book or two I'd devour them in a heartbeat.
Overall, strong fmc who admits her flaws, owns them, and still manages to lay plenty of traps for bad guys to waltz themselves into. She's not perfect but she strives to be the best she can be, even if there were a few speedbumps along the way. And best of all, she doesn't turn into a wilting flower when her love interests are around! And they respect her power (eventually)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
When I first started it, I never thought I’d sit down and read it all. 26 books back to back to back and eat them up! And while it’s not - at times - the best written, it kept me engaged and wanting to know what happens next. I quickly became invested.
I ended up reading this series in about 2.5/3 weeks. And as I said, I sat down and read it right through. It stayed on my mind and I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
And with each book I thought “no way will this keep me entertained for 26 books!” I figured I’d get bored. NOPE! We’ll,…. There was two books I felt slightly that way. I just needed to get past them because I knew the next would be better. And yep, they were.
SPOILER FOR THE REST OF THIS REVIEW!!!!!!
I cried, sobbed in one of the last couple books. A character I had hoped would make it,…. Yeah. It broke me. I wanted Luke to make it. I really did. I wish he’d been a bigger part of the series but I understood his part. Just gutted me when he died. And how he died.
Then the last book,…. I was a miserable, snotty, sobbing mess while reading the last book. You can only prepare your readers so much that a characters fate was to die so much. And that’s just what happened with Lag. I knew it would ruin me and it did. I had the worst headache after. Face swollen and all.
This last book might’ve wrecked me emotionally but it also left me confused on a few things. Mainly, or mostly when it came to Darby. It was lacking so much with him. Actually the last couple of books were. I didn’t see the issues Tams and Darby had being resolved. And when she was showing them all her vision of the future, everyone was mentioned BUT Darby.
I think it needed an epilogue. Yes. The 26 book series needed more lol. There was just a few things left unresolved or way too open, or even just glossed over.
But yeah. I did it! I tackled this massive mountain of a series and took it down like a certain dragons family mountains! And I loved it! Might even reread it some time in the far future. Who knows.
Wow! I enjoyed every single book in this series. I'm sad that this was the last book. I seriously LOVED Tamsin (our heroine) because she was a badass with a heart of gold. Erin R. Flynn my only critique with your books are: You really needed some serious editing and proof reading done, but that's it! I loved the full development of each and every character. You give so much purpose and details and thought into everyone you created even down to the villains. Bravo to you Erin, I take my hat off to you. I just so happened by chance found the first book on Goodreads and it was one of the best book finds I found in a long time.
Thank you Erin R. Flynn for your hard work and dedication to this series, it did get unnoticed!
Sooo…this is getting a 4* because it’s still Erin’s writing and I still enjoy the style and this story in general. And I’ll try to come back and re-review when I’m in a different frame of mind and maybe after reading it again. But for me, this did not live up to the book title….the only part that got me feeling any sort of anything, was the scene at the end with her father. Compared to the last book especially, I just didn’t get the feeling that it did the very long series justice….sorry. I’m still a big fan of the series and am not one of those that was upset it was ending, because I agree it was time. I guess I just feel like some areas could have been fleshed out a little bit more 😬
Perfect title for the perfect ending..... I've stayed with this series and didn't want it to end but we have to let things go.....so good love this series and will miss Tamsin but Erin never fails in writing other characters that you fall in love with
No matter how much I prepared myself for this, I still wasn’t ready for how much I cried in this last installment of Tamsin’s journey 💔 Thank you so much Erin for this beautiful story that you have gifted us 🫶 It’s one that will stay with me always and be a comfort reread for years to come ❤️🥹
Please note the following review encompasses books 20 through 26 of the SERIES. As each book depends on the prior books, I am not reviewing each individually to cut down on repetition. Following this review, I will be one final review of my reading experience throughout all 26 books.
As always, I will endeavor to minimize spoilers, but please read at your own risk.
Ok, it's been 19 books, and I haven't really touched on the totally delicious guys in this series. Mostly, because I wasn't sure who was staying and who was going. Because believe you me, Tamsin has her choice of treats. But I want to talk boys for a bit.
Let's start with our dragon. Hudson is a dragon prince, and his dragon, River, is as sweet as pie. Both love Tamsin wholeheartedly, but Hudson needs to learn when and how to pull his head out of that place the sun doesn't shine. He makes more than his fair share of mistakes, but unlike real life, there is almost always a redemption opportunity. I was thrilled he took it.
Next, there's the sexy warlock professor, Julian Craftsman. He is quite literally too smart for his own good. I was ready to throw the towel in and look for a replacement, but, like Hudson, he pulled off a miracle to get the girl. As much as this man frustrated me, he still managed to make me swoon. This man is Fine with a capital F, and the support he ends up providing for Tamsin would not have worked so well for anyone else.
This is the one y'all are looking forward to. Our geeky vampire tutor turned attorney. Most notably, he is the only one of Tamsin's mates that she purposely chose. Everyone else is a fated mate, but she loved Darby enough to tell Fate and the gods to F off. Darby is far from perfect, but he is the normal in her world that's spinning wildly out of control, and let's face it, it's impossible to not find him loveable. He brings a lot of baggage though, and it is incredible to watch him work through it all.
Lucca's relationship started with a ... lie of omission? Not a purposeful misrepresentation, but it still set their relationship back. Truthfully, I didn't expect him to make the final cut, but Lucca worked his butt off to fix his mistakes, to learn and grow from them, and unlike the rest, he doesn't make the same mistake twice. And Harry, his bear, is just too adorable.
And this leaves us with Neldor Donovan, Prince of Dark Fairies, aka Prince of Darkness. When first introduced to Neldor, I knew he was going to be vital to the plot, but I wanted him to die in a fire regardless. He was just flat out mean to Tamsin, but as the story progressed, his character made subtle changes to his attitude and behavior, and I realized that I like the guy. For all of his faults, he ends up adoring Tamsin, and more than any of the other relationships, this one left me with warm fuzzies.
Expect my final review of the overall, full series in a few days.
However, as always, Iwant to leave a content warning of sorts because mental health matters. Contained in the story so far, you will find racism, classism, prejudice and past trauma (physically, emotionally, and smexually.) There are also forced abductions, bullying outside of the harem, references to ongoing trafficking, violence, attempted forced mating and SA, intimate partner abuse, family disconnect and related trauma from both sides, and discussion of forced breeding. Characters have ongoing mental health issues, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, fear of abandonment, grief & loss, self-worth issues, and suicidal ideation. Please know your limits and read responsibly.
I’ll start by saying I can’t remember exactly how many times I’ve read and reread Erin R Flynn’s novels. This author came into my life at a point in my journey I was struggling to find myself in College. I was torn trying to figure out what I wanted to do, balance the weight of what felt like millions of expectations that I mostly put on myself. All while feeling like it was never enough and if I could just do that one next thing everything would settle out enough I wouldn’t feel guilty for taking a breath. The character’s this Author brought to life gave me an anchor and a lifeline that left a little hope behind when it got dark, showed me how to give myself time to breath and take a step back when I was struggling mentally, physically or emotionally. This series in particular gave me the courage to find my own answers to scary or heavy subjects and navigate how to process those changes and feelings in a healthy and positively impactful way. Through this series, and many of her others, I’ve consistently felt the reality behind her stories. There is such transparency behind many issues that are relatable that carried me through the transitional time of the end of my childhood into becoming an Adult. This journey of personal growth will hopefully never end and I’ll carry many skills I’ve learned through this series beyond the cover of these books. This Author has a gift of writing with a voice that resonates deeply to her readers. Any time I pick up one of her books it feels as though I have a very real support system of people (even if fictional), who’re going through or already been through what was happening to me in real time. Oftentimes the struggles and challenges Flynn set up for her characters felt like the advice of the friend you turn to when you need to be told something you don’t want to hear, especially when you won’t want to hear it. Her writing spoke directly to the heart of my worries and anxieties and showed me there was a way to be strong, a way to keep pushing for better and a way to make your own happy ending despite challenges or hardships along the way and still be happy for it. I firmly feel these books, gave me more tools to survive as an adult and talk about the hard questions, build healthier relationships and learn to walk away when something isn’t serving me anymore than any other living interaction I’ve had so far with another human. I look forward to where her stories let me escape to next and I know I’ll enjoy those journeys too. :) This is not a light and fluffy series but has wholesome connections and depth to it that might just help heal a little of your soul even if you didn’t realize you needed it. Take the journey, it’s worth it. Happy reading and safe travels!
I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to this book series…
As many readers know, a terrible ending can leave a reader with a bad impression of a series overall regardless of how well it started off. The last 3 books were disappointing for me and I was worried the series would end badly. I am so happy to say my worries were for nothing as this was one of the best finales in a book series that I have ever read. There was no filler in this novel as I felt was the main flaw for the last few. I shed so many tears as everything was wrapped up. Truly I cried for at least half of the book. We got a great goodbye to each beloved character, we got a glimpse into the future that while not set in stone leaves the reader hopeful for the fictitious lives of characters we grew to love over so many books. I knew Tamsin’s father’s death would be devastating but the twist that occurred a few days into her grief truly alleviated some of that grief for the reader just as it did for Tams. This was unexpected and honestly masterfully done. I loved that each of her mates had a moment to shine in this series to really emphasis that they would all be equals in the future. I loved the twist of the red fabric and the return to the paintings for Tamsin. I even loved that we got to see a bit of what could be for every minor character and theories on how their love lives might turn out. It simply felt tragic yet hopeful, the feeling I started this series with in regard to Tamsin’s life. It truly was a full circle moment as we walked through the major life changing moments with Tams. My only critique was the addition of the future of Darby’s sister and Izzy which had not been even minority hinted at before and seemed to be an afterthought. Other than that I truly was happy with everything else in this book. I do think the last 3 ish books were unnecessary but when I recommend this series I will simply tell people to push through those last few books because the ending is truly worth it. This author really brought me back around completely to this series and I look forward to what she plans to write next.
I’m writing this review around halfway through reading this book - I will finish it because I’m not going to get 25.5 books through a series and the give up - but I just have to write this now. This book is not good. This series hasn’t been good for at least 10-12 books. These characters suck, their behavior sucks, and the situations they’re written into suck. The scene that sparked me having to write this review is Tamsin going to the pet store because the fae dogs have bad breath (so dumb - how is there not a rune for that?) and she encounters a domestic violence situation. First, she insults the genital size of the offender (it’s almost 2025, that’s the dumbest and most useless insult, and why are we commenting on people’s bodies?) and then, the kicker, she starts lecturing the more than likely minimum wage pet store employees for not intervening with a “it’s your job to make the store safe & if you don’t think you’re compensated enough to do that get a different job.” Like wtf. This is not only offensively out of touch, but it’s just flat out stupid. That’s not their job no matter how tragic a DV situation is. I’m so glad this is the last book of the series, I’ve literally only continued because I thought it might get better and I don’t like to quit an ongoing series.
Stories really don’t end better than this. I’ve loved this series from start to finish. I loved all the extras that enhanced and polished this story as well as wrapping up loose ends from the long term plot and characters.
It has such a strong female lead which I think is what women should aspire to be in their own lives. This is fiction and not everyone is as strong but I think most would agree that this is full on ‘Goldilocks’ as in just right for these characters.
If you’re anything like me and are checking that the series is complete before you actually start reading, good luck to you. This isn’t a smooth journey but it is a great read, escapism at its finest even if everyday issues are handled. So Tamsin Vale starts out as an orphan coming out of the (human) US foster care system only to discover that magic and supernaturals are real but hidden from humans. It would be a shock to anyone’s system to suddenly find out that they aren’t human and have real magic. Of course finding out that you have magic means you have to learn how to control it….cue Artemis University.
This series was what first got me interested in this author. Since then I have read any of her books I can get my hands on but AU will always be near and dear to my heart. I have read this series once a year since I first discovered it and it has never not affected me, but this reread and this book in particular affected me the most. I cried and laughed more with this book than I have any other book I have ever read which is how I know the mark of a good book, series, and author. This series and the characters in it have become my friends and I'm sad to see the end but I am am comforted in knowing that I can always visit them in the form of a reread. Until then I look forward to any and all books Erin puts out that are always masterpieces. Thank Erin Flynn for creating these world that affect your readers lives so much more than any others. You take care of us in the form of giving us escapes. Your true fans want you to always take care of you and love you for all you give us. You are my favorite author and probably always will be. Thank you for giving me my escapes!!!
It took me a few books, but I fell in love with Tamsin Vale and her story. Artemis offered me a refuge from the real world with it's real world problems. It offered the escape from reality that is so needed in life today. It offered a heroine, that to me wasn't perfect, but wanted to be better. She was striving to make the world she lived in the best it could be for everyone and everything. Sometimes the author (Erin R. Flynn) went a little too far by making her (Tamsin) obnoxious at times, but I understand her stance. She was the most powerful being in this world. I'm glad as, the series progressed, the main character (Tamsin Vale), became a little less obnoxious and a little more humble. While keeping everyone aware that she had immense power, she didn't use it for abusive purposes. All in all, I rated it as 4 stars because the book could have been so much better if it had better editing. Still the whole series is worth the read. So, if you are in the mood for a long, finished series (26 issues), I do recommend this one. Keep in mind, there are lots of sex scenes, especially in the beginning, but it gets less as the series advances.
What a journey...I remember reading book 1 back in 2019 and being immediately hooked. In many ways Tamsin is all of us. She's a woman fighting trauma, abuse, sexism, racism, classism, misogyny, the patriarchy, and then to add to her pile COLLEGE! But she did it, she did it with grace and strength and I admire her for it. In this final book, we knew what we were getting, a graduation, a coronation, and a funeral. What I wasn't expecting were almost all of the story lines to be closed. The weddings for Zack and Ray, Mason, Edelman and Artemis, Freya and her future, there were a couple of things missed like Geiger and Cluym but nothing major. I'm so happy that we got a glimpse of the future. Losing a parent can be devastating and I want ready to say goodbye to Lageos but Tamsin and her found family will be able to share those memories with each other forever. I will love this series forever and ever.
I've enjoyed this series. Interesting characters, imaginative world building, a nice balance between the outer story - one outnumbered supernatural against a messed-up world - and the inner story - one outnumbered supernatural and numerous romantic interests. I assume that anyone who got to book 26 found the series enjoyable.
Book 26 is the last book of the series. All the main stories have been told, all the main challenges have been overcome. What's left is wrap-up - book-length epilogue. It feels as if the author is writing fan fiction set in her own universe. The final i's are dotted and the final t's are crossed. (Spoiler: The protagonist graduates.)
Book 26 was satisfying, in the sense of providing the three hundred pages of closure promised on the cover, but there weren't three hundred pages of story left to be told. I'm glad I read this last book, but I miss the excitement and discovery that the early books in the series brought.
26 books later, it's been a ride. I loved how this book and book 25 really allowed the epic story to wrap up appropriately, with closure for everything and everyone in the story.
if you're reading this review wondering if you should start with book one, well, for me at least, it has been well worth the journey. Tamsin was a heroine who showed that it wasn't so much her talents and attributes that got her through, it was her willingness to keep working, to keep getting up for the next battle and the next fight. So many books have heroes who are the chosen one, where their powers just overcome all, but for Tamsin while her powers were great, often she suffered in equal measure to get to her wins. It didn't come easy to her, but her tenacity was what got her through.
In trying times, sometimes we all need that message.
I didn't know what I was getting myself into 5 years ago when I ran out of books to read and found a series called Artemis University by Erin R Flynn.
Now I have an all-time favourite author, and a series i was so addicted to that whenever a book dropped, i read it within a day. This book was different, I wasn't ready to leave the world of Tamsin, and it took me a week to finish. It was a week of me crying on and off as Erin walked us through Tamsins progress, her accomplishments, her pain and challenges. I cried so much at times that I had to put the book down, but I just read the last few chapters and I'm so happy with how Erin wrapped up Tamsins story. It was truly perfection, and Tamsin deserved it.
I love this series, and Erin truly honoured Tamsins story.
It's New Year's Day, 2025.. and I just finished Tamsin's journey. This book was the perfect ending. All the ends tied up, without it being obvious. I discovered Erin with the release of book 2 of this series, and I've now devoured all of her works, plus most of them under Flynn Eire. Erin is an epic writer, fantastic at world building, and she has enough twists and turns to keep readers engaged over such a long series. I still hope she gets a better editor. There are enough basic typos to warrant at least pro writing aid or something like it as a minimum. Regardless, I can't recommend this series enough. As an author myself, I know the hardest thing to do is end a series, and Erin has done a magnificent job finishing this one.
Requests: House of Garner, Karma Bakery and Seraphine Thomas, pretty please? xx
I'm not crying you're crying... (please send tissues)
Oh my goodness... what a beautiful ending to the most amazing series. I'm really going to miss Tams, but she deserved this ending. Do I wish I could read more of her? Of course! Do I think this was still the perfect way to finish? ABSOLUTELY!
I understand that others may be annoyed that this was the last book, but really they need to realise that SHE IS NOT GOVERNMENT PROPERTY. Let her enjoy her reign and her future and be happy that you've come this far on this 26 book journey!
Erin R Flynn is a genius who has kept us hooked for this journey but she has many other world's that are just as amazing and I can't wait to see all that comes in the future!
Erin I am so in awe of your talent. This book was a wonderful ending to a fantastic series that I have reread multiple times because of how much I love the world and your characters. You had me laughing out loud and then bawling my eyes out. I am sad to see the ending of Artemis University but this just means we get new worlds from you. To anyone who loves this kind of series, I wholeheartedly recommend reading this series. I know it seems daunting because it is long, but it is very worth the read. I will definitely be rereading it again in the future which in my opinion is the best compliment I can give an author after my recommendation to someone else.
This series will hit your emotions. There are several characters you will want to smack upside their heads. Sometimes, even the MFC. This was worth the journey for me. Each book for this was always interesting and moved the storyline further in multiple ways. Sometimes, the waiting for the next book sucked, but this author somehow did power moves to get each new book out quickly and keep true to her characters. They never changed without a real reason that we got to "see" within the story arc. No rushed feeling for how events happened. Now that the final book is finished, I would recommend anyone who hates to wait to read the series. It really is worth the time.
It's official: This is my ALL time favorite series
I have to be honest. When I first saw this series there had been roughing 12 out at the time, but I scrolled past without reading the synopsis, because it looked way too girly for me. Boy was I wrong. After a particularly bad book rut, I checked it out and immediately fell in love. Which actually worked in my favor slightly cause I could devour so many back to back, This story had every high, and low of life but brought to life in a way that spoke to my soul. Tamsin is everything I want for the US, and I wished more people thought as she does. I highly recommend taking the time to read this series, but be sure to have tissues nearby, because I cried way too much!
I am rating it five stars not just for this book but the entire series. I don’t write a lot of reviews because I read a LOT of books but this series I have reread probably 5-6 times and that is saying something because it is 26 books long. As someone who reads a lot books get kind of repetitive with a climax around 80% and then a resolution and a small blurb about what happens after but this series is so long that even though I am never bored reading it, it is different. I don’t know another way to say it other than it makes my brain happy reading it, I’m not worried about the next fight between the characters because there are long periods of times where they are happy and it’s a fun and calm read but full of action and romance. An amazing 5/5 read
The story finally had a finish. It was a long trip. Almost too long. I was absolutely frustrated by the fact that the main character never shows growth other than to be freakishly stronger in power, in the words of one of my other favorite series "deal with your abandonment issues it's annoying as f" she expects every one of her guys to be at her back and call at all times. And the fact that the author has serious issues with women who want to be a stay at home mom/housewife. I almost quit reading several books ago. Most every book had some sort of propaganda. And it was all left extream. Leave the politics out of the stories. I read fantasy to get away from it.
I have followed this series from the very beginning, when the very first one was released all those years ago.
This is a story that I feel so many people can relate to, the struggles of life, expectations of other upon ourselves, sexism, racism, ageism, responsibility thrust upon us too soon, mental health struggles, relationship struggles, all the trauma and growing through it all to male it through the other side.
I will miss Tamsin and her sass, her defiance, her heart and bottomless stomach. I have loved following her story and the ending was absolutely beautiful. I cried with her and laughed with her time and time again. All hail Queen Tamsin!
This was a really well written book. I like how the whole building of an entire new world was created and was well done. I think if there was any issue I had at all of this book, is would be the repetitive heartbreak turmoil frustration just we continually roll over and start over again and repeat itself continually. So that would go on and on sometimes Between the heroin and the lead characters that are her fated mates, that sometimes we get over the top and old and like beating a dead horse. Yet there was so much that out weighed that part of it and you would be able to get back into the whole story again That I really feel it was worth the time and effort that I put into reading it. I do highly recommend it.
This was such a pointless drag of a series. That was the ending? That whole book was intended to close off a 26 book saga? Realistically, it was only the last 5ish chapters that had any meat, but that meat was LEAN. This series was just like the Supernatural TV show - it did everything and anything possible to drag on long enough to ruin any positives it might have had. The relationship was not squared away. Instead, it was rushed and crammed into a perfect circle without care that it didn't make sense to force the pentagon in there. The visions of the future infuriated me with its self-aware plot hole. The dad had me crying for about a third of a page and the coronation/graduation had me hating my eyes for letting me read through it all. Yeesh.
i first read this series up to book 25 and then i stopped because i didn't want it to be over, read lots of books after but my brain kept coming back to this series so i just finished my reread and completed the last. definitely the longest series i've read and yes it had grammar mistakes but i honestly loved it. sometimes id get annoyed at what seemed like random scenes being thrown in but now at the end i feel like i needed those to connect to the characters as deeply as i have, it made them seem more real to me as if they're out there living in a world i'll never see. so thank you Erin Flynn for writing this amazing world i can't wait to read more of your work
