The Crown Prince is dead, and the Great Xuan Dynasty is in turmoil.

I really liked another book by this author [though recently DNF'd another] - def would read more. I'm all "DAMN YOU CENSORSHIP" cuz Y'ALL *fans self* what this author could do with out it! It was already HOT lol and KINKY despite all those rules.
I love me a "he falls first" and it's nice how he changes and compromises for it. It's not ALL just for her - he's not inherently evil, he's just got a strong "destroy the world" mentality because of what happened to his family, their army, TO HIM. The MONTHLY pain of the horrible poison where the mild antidote is only given to treat some symptoms. Like he's already super kind and sane as is despite scaring ~everyone.
FL is SO SMART AND STRONG. [Seriously though what was up with the thing Zhang made/that pill I ... did I misunderstand?]
Almost everything made sense, it was satisfying, you were emotionally engaged, and I loved how both had their own support. And how things got better between her and her mom.
😫 REALLY WISH SHE COULDA HAD TIME WITH HER BROTHER.

It was an enjoyable and emotional read. The Zhao siblings broke my heart. The story was intriguing and had me invested till the end. I really like both the protagonists. I love the princess character very much. In the middle, I felt like ml could have behaved a bit different but later it was nice development. Loved the way he completely submitted to her and worshipped her.
