The last thing Zendaya wanted was for her daughter to follow in her footsteps. Despite her best efforts to shield her from the harsh realities of the world, she couldn't escape the inevitability of history repeating itself. The Players have returned, stronger and more resilient than ever. Lilly, a young woman with a striking resemblance to Zendaya finds herself walking a familiar path. But the question remains; is she a carbon copy of her mother, or her own person?
So yesterday I wrapped up Zendaya, the first book in the Players series, and by today at 1pm, I was already devouring Players. Finished it in one go. Where do I even begin? Zendaya ended with Zen pregnant, she and Ethan on the run after betraying the Beast, and living life on the edge since then.
Players picks up 18 years after that betrayal, diving into the life of Liliana, Zen and Ethan’s daughter—or at least that’s what they say. I still have my doubts that Ethan is actually her father, especially since Zen was involved with both Ethan and the Beast, and neither book has confirmed Lilly’s paternity. If there’s a third book coming, it better settle this paternity mystery once and for all! Now, back to Players and Liliana’s life…
Lilly is the epitome of a spoilt brat—textbook only child syndrome if you ask me. She even calls her parents by their first names. So, the story picks up with the Jonas family moving back to South Africa. On her first day at school, Lilly meets three boys who push her around, but she’s quickly saved by Devin Dlamini, the cute Zulu head boy determined to make her his girl. Shortly after, she meets Emily, this adorable, bubbly white girl who somehow manages to wiggle her way into Lilly’s ice-cold heart.
During lunch, the same three boys come at her again. This time, though, she’s had it. Lilly puts her self-defense skills to good use, teaching them a lesson they won’t forget. But little does she know, her little showdown gets recorded and lands in the hands of the PLAYERS. At a class party, the students—including Devin—are drugged, only to wake up at The Base, where they’re about to be trained as the next generation of PLAYERS.
Now, is Lilly a mini-Zendaya or just another spoilt brat? Turns out, at only 17, she’s every bit her mother’s daughter—from Zen’s captivating looks to her fierce personality. Lilly and Devin’s relationship deepens into that adorable “puppy love,” and it’s so sweet watching them break rules and even stand up to their parents just to be together.
I enjoyed Players, but that cliffhanger?! Oh, it’s House of the Dragon season one all over again—how dare they leave us like this! But hey, at least it means we’re in for a third book, which better tie up all these loose ends. Writers, honestly, will be the death of us!

Sis Cathy the plot is expertly crafted with unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. You skillfully weaves together multiple storylines, creating a rich and satisfying narrative. The characters are well-developed and complex, with compelling motivations and desires that drive the plot forward.
Though I'm sad with how everything turned out and sad to read "The end". I'm so impressed and happy I got the privilege to own my 1st book ya Catherine Phiri.

Zendays was my favorite and still is....then playes... God
As a mother I felt Zendaya's pain, you know wanting to protect your child by all means not wanting her to live the life that you have lived because you know that pain, you know what you went through and you don't want her going through the same pain that you went through.
The sad part is spending 17 years of your life going up and down with your child trying to protect her trying to do what's best for her only for you to lose her in a country that you never thought you going to lose her.
You know ....I felt Zendaya's pain when she blamed herself for losing side of her child but then I don't think it was wrong of her to let her child live and be with other people and enjoy her life with her friends and living because the past years she was not living , most of her life she were restricted to most of the things.... um she didn't she didn't have a simple childhood like other children ...and I don't think Zendaya was being fair to herself because either way deep down she knew that Players might repeat the history. And she knew that one day the players were going to come back that's why she trained the child from the word go, how to defend herself, Lily knew how to fight really well she knew how to use a gun she was amazing..and the braveness in her....Jesus
I think we deserve book 3 for this because you see....Jenna there was something happening with that lady the way she loved our baby girl there's something in it she loved her from the very 1st day she got her, it seems like there's something that she knew about her...
Although it's still pains me how the book ended I really loved the book and I had my own fantasy but then it is what it is.... our little girl died just like that?? like our characters died??? I'm still asking myself if they are dead or something something somewhere is still gonna happen... God Catherine Phiri did us wrong but it is a good book I really enjoyed it....even my partner loved the book and he was excited he loved the book he said it seemed like a movie every page every scenario that he kept reading he could imagine everything. He says there was this screen in his mind whereby he felt like hes watching everything and I remember said maybe Cathy was supposed to put the picture of Zendaya in this book🤣🤣🤣 ohhh God...where are you going to get a picture on Zendaya and her daughter Cathy?? Because we are waiting to frame them in this house and put them on the wall??
Ok bye....these 2 books will stay my 1st favorite 😍 Thank you for the good read
Lilliana, she had me worried for a second. I thought she was going to be the opposite of her mother. I really loved her character and how it developed. I loved the action also, it was on point. And that ending, Lord have mercy....
