Rate this book
The USMC doesn’t agree though, and Jake, desperately trying to avoid a discharge for mental health reasons has agreed to be transferred from combat zones back to base in order to try and sort out his brain. Growing up with a schizophrenic mom, Jake can say with experience that he’s never met a shrink he liked, but with no other choice, he agrees to take time off and get some help.

Sophie’s life was changed forever when, while at school one day, her father, an army man who had always been a touch unstable, had a severe PTSD incident, and shot himself and Sophie’s mother. After years of intense counseling, Sophie walked away with a lighter sense of self and the desire to become a therapist to help people like the man her father had been after returning home.

Jake can’t help but be curious about the gorgeous woman who is trying to help him get himself together. Sophie knows that she shouldn’t get involved with a patient, but behind his beautiful face and his troubled mind, she can see the good man that she knows he is.

Their chemistry is pulling them closer together, but their problems and pasts threaten to rip them apart for good. They’ll have to save each other if they want to save their future.

Broken Arrow by Kristin Fletcher

I feel that I should start by saying this is not a bad read, just way too short. It was a freebie and I from time to time I like to try freebies and see what I think. I knew going into this that it was a short story but it was really short on story. Sometimes you can read a short story and it has something more, this just felt rushed. The story is about a Marine and his doctor. He has PTSD and just came out of a coma a little but ago. She's helping him with something therapy.

During a group session, there was ammunition that was being disposed of off base but still close and the explosions freaked the whole group out. Some of the group got violent and even the doctor cowered on the ground for safety. After the Marine saved her, they admit to their mutual attraction and decide to go to her house. I will give her credit, she said she knew she had to give his continued therapy to another doctor immediately but still. There was a little bit of a creep factor to it for me. This was also classified as an erotic romance, I didn't feel it was all that hot.

I did like the author's voice and want to try a longer story by her next time but this one was just barely okay for me.

First off I will say I got this book as a free read. For me, it was just okay. Storyline was interesting dealing with heavy issues but I felt it was rushed. The romantic relationship between Jake & Sophia seemed lacking & missing something. Book has potential.
