He’s auditioning for the lead role in her heart. She thinks it’s all an act. On the road to fame, he’s playing for keeps.
*** I moved to Hollywood with one goal in mind: See my name in lights. My entire life, I’ve been playing a role, chasing fame, but nothing has worked out the way I planned.
Meeting Char, the hottest woman I’ve ever seen, didn’t go as planned either. I must’ve fed her the dumbest line ever, because she’s barely acknowledged me since. According to Char, my ego will ruin my Hollywood dream.
When I lose out on the role of a lifetime thanks to my bad reputation, I decide to prove to her I’m not just another Hollywood player. My chance arrives when my best friend offers me a job on tour with his pop-star girlfriend . . . and her manager: Char.
Being on this road trip could be the opening I need to earn Char’s trust finally. Maybe my acting career hasn’t gone as planned, but this is one role I’m playing to win.
*** Not Another Player is the second book in the Hollywood Stories series of full-length, standalone romances told from the Hero's point of view with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Cynthia Ann is a writer of Just Right Romance - not too sweet, not too spicy. Her books are infused with humor, suspense, music and of course, toe-curling love stories. Music is her most reliable muse, kicking off her preferred writing method: Plantsing with a Playlist. From Mozart to Metallica, an inspired soundtrack (available for your listening pleasure on Spotify) keeps the plot, and the romance, dynamic.
I absolutely loved the character development. Char has the patience that most of us wish we could have. Jacob's character grows SO Much, you go from kinda disliking him to loving him. Let's face it, watching a man fight and make changes for what he wants is a GREEN flag 🥵
Excellent read. This book had me hooked at the beginning. Jacob fought so hard for Char, she definitely tamed him. Hopefully, there will be books about some of the other characters. Can't wait to read more. I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.
I had the pleasure of ARC reading for this story, thank you Cyn for allowing me to be apart of your team! I loved this story! Semi spoilers below, forewarning!
I felt for Char dealing with a less than favorable male, as I'm sure we all have. And I'm glad Jacob had phenomenal character development and growth/maturing. Curt got exactly what he deserved and I was kicking my feet and giggling maniacally during the court scene :P I was STOKED when Bree and Zack shared their news...and hope to see more of them in future books if there will be more :D Hoping we'll see more of Clinton and his new tidbit of info toward the end ;) and so happy for Char and Jacob on their happy news as well!! I enjoyed the banter from all the characters from C1 and the roadies to the main characters as well. Another fun ride from Cynthia!!
This book delivers a delightful slow-burn romance rooted in the classic enemies-to-lovers trope. It follows Jacob, an aspiring actor chasing big dreams, and Char, the no-nonsense manager of a rising pop star. Sparks fly as their paths collide, and what starts as tension gradually simmers into undeniable chemistry.
Jacob's character arc is especially well-developed—watching him evolve is one of the book's highlights. Meanwhile, Char consistently serves strong boss girl energy, commanding every scene with confidence and flair.
While the plot doesn’t break new ground, the character dynamics, witty banter and the drama keep it engaging. If you're in the mood for a fun, trope-filled romance with heart, this one’s worth picking up.
The second book in the Hollywood stories series follows Char and Jacob. Char is the manager of Bree from the first book and Jacob is best friends with Zack from the first book. Jacob joins the tour as a roadie and develops feelings for Char. He tasks Char with trying to help him rehab his reputation as he is trying to become an actor in Hollywood. Char has some personal drama of her own going on that Jacob tries to help her with. This book was just as good if not better than the first book and I was originally not excited that the story was going to center around these two characters. However, I thoroughly enjoyed their story at the end. It had great banter and great drama.
Amazing read with all the fun twist and turns. I liked the unexpected twist at the end. Char is a beautifully written character with all her flows. I could really relate with her and the turmoil she was dealing with. Overall, this was a beautifully crafted story of what can happen when you give love another chance. It is easy to get lost and guarded after life happens. These characters all have a hand in putting faith in love and letting it do the rest.
I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to read a book from the guy’s point of view. Most books I read are either both or the lady’s point of view so it was nice for a change. The storyline was great and I like the development in the characters. The book had some spice and a little bit of drama so it was a nice mix. I would read more books by this author.
Another amazing work done by Cynthia! New couple alert, this time Jacob and Charlotte. Or Char as he likes to call her. Already Jacob has a connection with her, from her beauty and talent, I enjoyed reading from his POV. Minimal spice, sexy words, and very sweet! My mouth dropped from Jacob's scandalous words whenever he was in the presence of Char. I love it when men fall in love first! Five stars!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 It started off a little slow for me—I almost DNF’d—but I’m so glad I stuck with it and gave it a chance. I ended up really enjoying it! Watching Jacob mature throughout the story was my favorite part. And I absolutely loved the enemies-to-lovers dynamic between Jacob and Char—it brought just the right amount of tension and chemistry.
