Born in Birmingham, Andrew Symonds could have played cricket for England, but he only ever had one dream - to wear the green and yellow of Australia at the wicket. In this title, Symonds reveals stories of his upbringing, his passion for the game, and what motivates him, as well as amusing anecdotes and tall tails.
Andrew Symonds was one of my favourite cricketers of all time, not because I am a cricket tragic although I do enjoy the game, but because he was funny, honest and remained the same throughout his career. I wanted to learn more about his background and about him personally, which I did. The statistics while impressive are lost on me. Sad that Andrew is now no longer with us but his smile and sense of humour will always remain a fond memory.
ROY is a book about the recount of the life of famous Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds. The name Roy is his nickname. Reading the book all the way through has many topics, but the main one is that even though Andrew started out in a poor family and not much skill in the sport in the end all that matters is determination. This book is truly inspiring and I would definitely recommend.
Always great to read an Australian cricketer’s journey. Good perspective from a smooth junior pathway to a more volatile professional pathway. Tragedy he died 6 years after releasing the book.
This was a great book it was a cricket book and any cricket lovers would like this book. This book told me about Andrew Symonds a famous cricketer, he started cricket when he was a boy and he loved it so he went on with it then he got into the Australia team and played for many years. I loved this book because it told me about Andrew Symonds life and it was a cricket book.
Well, this was better than I expected. But then my expectations were very low. It's well written - possibly more to do with the ghost than Mr A Symonds - and 'Roy' comes across as a nice enough chap. But what a terribly shallow book this is.
