Disturbed: The Diary of Eden Frost by David B. Bond is nothing short of a haunting, immersive experience. Through Eden's story, Bond masterfully weaves a tale of thriller and suspense. Eden, a mentally unstable woman who endured abuse early in life, struggles to navigate her way through depression and anxiety. Her journey mirrors the daily battles of an abused and depressed woman, someone many of us encounter at certain points in life.
The book's most sensitive aspect is Eden's repeated, heartbreaking attempts to integrate into society, only to face rejection. To make matters worse, she is eventually accused of her own father's murder.
David uses lengthy and vivid descriptions to guide the reader through Eden's emotions, making us feel her loneliness and haunting sense of despair. He masterfully sustains the suspense and thrills until the very end, keeping the reader hooked. The journal entries from Eden add an extra layer of tension to the experience.
Reading this book has been a unique experience for me, opening my eyes to the struggles of abused and depressed individuals from a new perspective.
All in all, The Disturb is an exceptional book!

I've read several books by this author and may have enjoyed this one the most. He creates an eerie, atmospheric setting in the Pacific Northwest. The characters are all strong and introduced well. Several twists and turns kept me guessing throughout the book, which I liked. If I compare it to another story, it would be Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King due to the abusive father being murdered and family relationships. This book goes much further than that, though. Murder and monsters! I certainly recommend it to readers who enjoy similar reads.
