First Comes Love #3

Finally, Forever

Rate this book
College baseball player, Gray Thomas, had to go far out into left field to find a girl like Dylan. Now, it's time for these complete opposites to either accept they’re meant to be together...or deny the mutual attraction that has existed since the first day they met. If you enjoyed When Harry Met Sally, or A Lot Like Love, this offbeat, sexy romance is the story for you.

Author's Note: Can be read as a STANDALONE, or as Book 3 in the First Comes Love series.

Before reading this, my heart was literally beating so loud against my chest, I could honestly feel it. I actually had to catch my breath because I knew the moment I started reading this finale, there’s never stopping/turning back and true to my premonition, I read this in just one sitting.

For the first time in history, I finished a New Adult series. That's just unbelievable! But truthfully (I don’t think I’ve ever said this to an NA read before), this series is worth rereading.

What better way to end this adorable story of my two favorite people in the NA world, Dylan and Gray than a road trip neither of them has planned.(Ms. Kacvinsky, how do you know exactly what I need? )It’s been more than a year since they have last seen each other and have tried to move on separately but somehow, fate keeps messing with them and wanting them to be together. I love how the story is opened with Gray’s ever sarcastic POV.

"Hope works alongside Fate and Luck and Timing and They’re all cofounders of the conspiracy group I like to call Team Asshole."

Isn’t he adorable?

I also love how the plot starts off with a surprise which held up until the very end of the story. Their journey is one I truly, honestly enjoyed and I’m thankful that both the characters’ abilities to make me laugh and touch my heart are still completely intact. I’m also thankful for all the pieces of love advice the various characters taught me. Let me just share some of them because I deliriously want to.

"When a man tells you you’re insane, it’s his way of professing his love."

"It’s not settling down, it’s wising up."

"Maybe that’s what love is all about. Being humble enough to admit you cannot make it on your own. You need a person to call a place home. "

I’m afraid I couldn’t say more because I’ve already said too much (lol) and really, there’s nothing I can say that will truly express how much I have fallen in love with this series. My only complaint is that I want more! This finale is too short and I want so much more. The ending is...of course something I wouldn’t tell you but this gif speaks for
feelings and words I can’t express.

That book cover makes me swoon and fangirl five times more. <3

Reread the entire series, and I'm emotionally-drained and gut-wrenchingly dazed and whole-heartedly amazed that this series can still move and inspire me like it just did...for the second time around. Truly, Gray and Dylan will always hold a special place in my heart.

...Finally, forever."

Can I just gush out all my feelings first?!?? AHHHHHHHH!!! WAAAAAAAH!!!! ACK!!!!! SQUEEEE!!!!! AWWWWW!!!! FYEAAAHHHHH!!!! ASDFGHJKDLAJDLJA!!!!! How do I put into words all these feels??!? They're just too much with this book! It was a never-ending roller coaster ride of emotions, but you bet I'd ride that all over and over again! Frankly speaking, this book gave me the best journey ever.
description

It is undeniable that I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this final installment of the First Comes Love series. I think it has been a little over a year ever since I waited for this book to be published. You can't imagine the bliss I felt when a publication date plus the book's synopsis finally came out. It was just one of those moments that you know once this book comes out, you just have to get your hands on it!

After finishing this book, I was just...
description

And I just took off staring into space.....But then, after awhile...
description

Right from the very first book, Gray & Dylan already shook my shipper heart!!!!
description

The first book, First Comes Love, was definitely what hooked me to this series. All of Gray & Dylan's "firsts" were told in that installment, and the way they connected was something I deem as magical. Of course, finishing that book ended only in tears. Tears were also shed during the second book, Second Chance, especially with that kind of ending. With that said, I think it's obvious that the same happened after reading this final installment. Yep, there was one common denominator throughout my read with this series: TEARS. But never did I regret those tears for this series because it deserves all my feels!

This is definitely a big splash to my face, because it was refreshing, and just the right book for me. I totally believe that all those waiting was worth it, because what I got in return was everything I wanted, but so much more!

Finally, Forever takes on after fifteen months of the separation of Dylan & Gray. But of course, what do you expect when two people are really meant for each other? They find a way back, especially when they least expect it. HUHUHU! YES MY OTP IS MEANT TO BE!!!!! GRAY & DYLAN 5EVER!!!!
description

After fifteen months of not seeing each other, they finally do. AND OF COURSE, THEY JUST CAN'T HELP BUT UNLEASH THEIR FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER THAT THEY HAVE TRIED TO HIDE AND ERASE SO DESPERATELY!
"All the old feelings rush back. One familiar smile can do that, it’s like a zipper loosening you up, opening you, spilling out all the old feelings you neatly folded and packed away."

But yeah, before anything else, I seriously loved Nick!!! HE WAS SUPER FUNNY HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I also loved Rachel's "participation". All that were just parts of why I am in love with this book!!! That did not fail to amuse me!!!
description

But of course, why I really grew to love this series was because of Gray & Dylan's super duper extraordinary love for each other!
"Maybe we’re just two fucked up souls, lost, only complete when we’re together. Maybe that’s what love is all about. Being humble enough to admit you can’t make it on your own...

description
...You need a person in order to call a place home. You need love to save you from yourself. You need to love another person so you give a little something every day."

description

There is no surprise that I am much more in love with the idea of love because of this series! Yep, this scarred me for life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! I am head over heels with Gray & Dylan! The love they have for each other is that moving, and you just can't help but fall in love with them. They're just....each other's destiny.
description

I just love how Dylan is so free-spirited, and sees the good in everything. She's different from all the other book heroines, and I just love her for it. Her personality is what truly makes her beautiful. It's no wonder why Gray fell in love with her. One thing I also loved is her passion for photography. That camera of hers captured snippets of what she sees in her daily life, and you just want to try and learn to appreciate life and the things in it like Dylan does.
"I look at each solid color and it makes me think about people. If we color-coordinated our feelings, our personality, what would we look like? I would be a lot of yellows, oranges and reds. Gray would be darker on the spectrum, grays and blues and greens. And that is why we are perfect. We complement each other. We complete the spectrum."

description
"But rainbows never last. They only appear for a few spellbinding minutes, long enough to entrance you with the kind of beauty life is capable of creating, but they are never permanent. They are just a rare phenomenon when all the right elements line up, when light is separated into its most beautiful form—when the timing is absolutely perfect."

description

For Gray, I just can't express how much I love this guy! He is definitely a great catch for any woman! Although, he is at his best and shines better when he's with Dylan, and I guess that is why I love him so much. He's the type of guy who prefers being in a relationship over being single, and for me, that puts him in a pedestal so high. His theories also got to me, plus his taste in music. Though he may seem all rough and harsh, he is really sweet and takes his time to make way for Dylan.
"I look up at the door she’s about to walk through. I gave you up. I wasn’t born to love you. I was born to lose you. You are my sad song. My melancholy mix. You were my past until you suddenly crashed into my present. But you will never be my future."

Those moments when they tried to resist each other did pain me, but it was also what lead them to the inevitable: the two of them being together.
"It took all this traveling, all this time, to understand that my journey has never been about getting to a particular place. It was always a road leading to Gray. The star on my map, in my heart. My greatest tether, always letting me go but pulling me back. I’ve traveled 2,000 miles this summer, but that’s nothing compared to the mileage I’ve made in my head. Thoughts are your heart’s footprints, and mine always lead back to him."

description
"But his mind is like a town that I’ve lived in and I know every street. I’ve memorized every turn, every slope, and every jagged hill. He can put up road blocks and build detours all he wants, but I know my way around with my eyes closed."

description

One moment that I really loved was the part when Dylan's shoelaces formed the shape of a heart! It made me go "AWWWW!!!"
"I reach down to grab mine and my arm freezes inches from the wood-beamed floor. The laces of my shoes are tangled together, in the shape of a heart. I crouch down and look at the heart, solid yet so delicate."

description

Here are some of my favorite quotes & dialogues from the book:
"“What does agonizical mean?” she asks.

I hold up my hands like it’s obvious. “To be consumed with shock and denial at unrequited love from the man who is supposed to be your soul mate,” I say. I prop my elbow on the table and rest my chin in my hand. I blow out a sigh."

------------------------------------
"I look up at the door Gray just walked out of. No matter how hard I try, I can’t un-want you. I can’t un-need you. Sometimes we don’t know what we need until we’re shown what we need. Up until then, we’re only making blind guesses. Sometimes, even when we think we’re roaming, we’re just traveling in a long circle that eventually leads us home."

------------------------------------
"All I can do is smile. I feel my entire body, my complete wholeness, from my head to my feet, to the goosebumps raised out on my skin. I realize Dylan’s never been my sad song. She’s my favorite song. The one I want to play over and over again."

description
"I stare at the edge of the bed where she was sitting, sprawling her legs out like weapons. Her long, slender feet brushed against the hardwood floor like a dessert that I wasn’t allowed to touch, only to see."

------------------------------------
"You can feel the energy of sexual tension. It’s like a belt tied around your chest, slowly tightening. It’s as if molecules in the air are lightly stinging your skin. You become aware of every inch of your body, from the back of your neck, to your toes. You are fully awake, fully exposed and bordering on the edge of pain."

description

AHHHH!! I JUST SUPER LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! AND I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
description

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH Katie Kacvinsky! You are one brilliant writer!!! Your series made me realize a lot of things, and it just made me love life and love, itself, more!!! YOU ARE JUST THE GREATEST!!!

But, I am just so happy Gray & Dylan got the ending they deserve.

Beautiful ending… the “Finally, forever” made me cry.
I love the ending, but I am not satisfied.
First, it was so short; I’ve been waiting for this for over a year.
It’s just that I want more Dylan & Gray, my favorite New Adult Couple EVER. I think I want to see them adult, I mean 10 years after. And I definitely want to see Gray’s proposal, then their wedding and of course building their family. I want to see their “happily ever after”. They deserved it. This is a beautiful love story and I am not going to get tired reading it all over again.

*MC’s Corner*
Note: Spoilers.
• Okay… I am not sure of this… Did you guys know what Dylan’s surname???
I didn’t catch it.

• It made me salivate when Gray’s “showing off” his muscles. There’s a pool of my saliva in the floor. *gag* That is so gross! Did I really say that???

• I really miss Dylan’s CrayCrayness!!! Is that even a fucking word? Love Love Love.
I can’t get over “TheSore”, that what I called it.

• I thought the first part is very silly. I mean the storm and everything… But that was fun, fun meaning it became a thriller.

• I really really want to see Gray as a father. I want them to have twins… I CAN’T STOP IMAGINING IT. A NOVELLA PLEASE!!!

Finally..reading the last sequel of this series drove me through a lot of freaking emotions, simply because I was so anxious and excited to finally see what would happen to Dylan and Gray..how would their fate and story end..And maybe because, I just didn't want this series to end.

I loved how the author plotted this book finale because she focused the story entirely with the main characters here from the very beginning 'til the end.

Dylan and Gray started off by incidentally seeing each other in one place that led them in a crazy, beautiful journey that made me laugh, cry, and just swoon over and over. And though I wanted more, it was a superb ending!^^

I'm so admiring Katie Kacvinsky, the author of this spectacular series because she beautifully crafted and created this kind of story. It's amazing how clever her ideas and concepts were starting with the book covers. I loved all of them but my favorite is the third book, because the cover itself has a cute story behind it.Just wait 'til you read this book(the 3rd and final sequel).

I've learned a lot from this author and from her characters as well, because they have taught me a lot of moral and valuable lessons in life..And most of all, they taught me the real meaning of love.^^

Again,I'm so recommending this series to everyone! It's the best NA-contemporary I've ever read!^^

“How do you make a person your final destination?”

You know that feeling when you’re out having fun and it seems like you can go on with it forever? That’s what I felt reading this book series, it’s like going on a road trip with your best person and you just don’t want it to end. And what goes well with a road trip?? It’s the songs you play in the background. Luckily this book have both; an adventure and a playlist that completes the mood. It’s one of the best things I love in this series.

Since reading this series is like an encounter and a journey, Katie Kacvinsky made a final book that begins with another unexpected encounter between Gray and Dylan that lead to the best road trip with epic detours. It was perfect and heartwarming and reading about them feels like home.

“Sometimes we don’t know what we need until we’re shown what we need. Up until then, we’re only making blind guesses. Sometimes, even when we think we’re roaming, we’re just traveling in a long circle that eventually leads home.”

And because I’m so in-love with LOVE, this book made me fell for it even more. It made me believed that destination doesn’t have to be a place but a person and sometimes you just have to drop the anchor and enjoy the beauty that’s in front of you. Finding love doesn’t always have to be a dream shining in the distance that's needed to be chased but a constant sun, you don’t need to be blinded by it; you just have to realize that it’s there shining brightly for you.

Oh my God! I know… I know …. I’m such a hopeless romantic and any person cynical about love will gag reading this review.. hahaha .. I’m so sorry ya’ll!

It’s so hard for me to put into words the story of Gray and Dylan. I was asked to blurb, but when I sat down to put into a sentence what I feel – nothing seemed to flow. The words didn’t seem to make sense and they absolutely didn’t capture what I was trying to express. In a nutshell – YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES. That alone should be enough for you to one-click and devour two, almost three books, of this amazing, different, sensual love story of two very star-crossed lovers walking the same, yet very different paths in life. To say that Gray and Dylan complete each other is an understatement. They’re romance is tested, repeatedly. Sacrifices are made. Hearts are broken and mended, only to have wounds reopened. Regardless, the stories are worth every minute you’ll spend reading.

I’ve been a fan of Katie’s for a few years now and I’m thankful to have formed a friendship with her. She’s amazing, smart, and talented and her dystopians frankly scare the ever loving crap out of me, but that doesn’t mean I won’t read with a light on. To be able to traverse from dystopia to romance is huge and Katie’s done so flawlessly. My only question is why aren’t you reading her novels?

Pre reading thoughts:

Ah, here is book three. I'm not really looking forward to it honestly. I LOVED the second book and thought it ended perfectly. I don't want this book to ruin my fantastic view of this series.

However I know. I'll end up reading it, probably on the first day it comes out hahahaha.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Post reading thoughts:

It wasn't bad, and I have to say that I liked how it ended up, I'm still not sure if a third book was necessary, however I love the characters in the book, their messages about life and choices . This was nice to read. It didn't stand out like the second book, but I'm glad the author didn't ruin the series.

"For the first time in my life, I realize that home isn't where you want to be. It's where you need to be."

Every now and again, I stumble on a book that I just connect with. One that sings to my soul and I just melt into it. It's not often it happens, and it happened with THIS WHOLE SERIES. After book 2, my only hope was for book 3 to "Please mend my broken heart!" And it was broken. Bruise and battered, Gray and Dylan are just one couple I can't help but cheer on.

This one is full of twists and turns. It's a lot of deciding to grown up and what it means to make different decisions because of that. But it's also about staying true to you - what the whole series has been about. Be who you are. Then, choose to share yourself with those who appreciate who you are.

“I don’t want to be away from you. Ever,”

Dylan and Gray have always had a special place in my heart. They're one of those people/characters that you wont forget and will remember once in while. Thinking about Dylan and Gray always brings a smile to my face. Katie Kacvinsky is an AMAZING author and Im not only saying this because she created two most AWESOME characters ever but she really does has this way of creating a story that touches every corner of our heart. :)
"He’s doing it again. He’s building a wall around his mind, a giant barricade with guards standing watch behind the parapets, weapons and arrows posed and ready to disarm at anyone daring to come through. But his mind is like a town that I’ve lived in and I know every street. I’ve memorized every turn, every slope, and every jagged hill. He can put up road blocks and build detours all he wants, but I know my way around with my eyes closed." -Dylan
And its OFFICIAL. Dylan is my most favourite female lead character EVER!! There's no one as kind, sweet, naive, funny and crazy as Dylan. And I wish she was real because I'd really like to be her friend. And Gray,...I wish I had someone like him that gets me like he gets Dylan. You know Ive always had this weird desire to hug Gray. Even though he is a fictional character. LOL.
Some of my favorite quotes from Finally, Forever.
“Because somewhere, up in heaven, an angel needed a car. The strongest, most reliable car, and God looked down on Earth and searched for the perfect, German made vehicle that was safe enough for his angel to drive. And he chose Orson.”
“Now, whenever you see a shooting star at night, you’ll know it’s an angel driving Orson through the sky.” -Dylan

"Music can save you from yourself. It’s like a friend whispering, Hey, it’s alright. I’ve been there. I got through it and so will you."-Gray

“What is the girl version of a tool? An accessory? Yes! That’s what she is. A safe, simple accessory.”-Dylan
Oh Dylan and her 'insults'.

First Comes Love is definitely on my Most Favourite Book Series list. :)

I realized how painful it is to have to wait for something you wanted to have so badly, and to be able to read this after two years since book 2 came out was unbelievable. That long? Still it feels like some time ago though because I can distinctly remember everything that went on.

Were it not for my special love for this series, I would've rated it much lower. But because Gray and Dylan holds an undeniably good place in my heart and captured me from the very beginning of First Comes Love, I know where these characters stand and knew deep down what they've been through, and more specifically, who they really were. If you only read this book among the series and thought it to be atypical kind that lies between the YA/NA genre and somehow can't quite narrow it to what you really think it is, I totally understand. Because, in my opinion, it's better read when you follow through the first one. Though it's also a stand alone, I wouldn't want you missing the good parts now, are we?

Final Thoughts: I still love this series, but mostly Gray and Dylan, even though that last book was a downfall.

Where has Katie Kacvinsky been all of my life? Why am I just learning about her?! I. Love. Her.

I signed up for Finally, Forever not realizing that it was the third in a series. I started it and it just kind of felt like I SHOULD know these characters. I did notice that the author notes that it can be read as a standalone. I agree, if you went straight into this book, you would still enjoy it. But if you ever listen to a piece of advice from this blog, please let it be this one - Don’t skip the first two books in this series. Finally, Forever would still be a great read and would make your heart all warm and fuzzy by itself but you would miss out on Gray and Dylan’s full story. And what a story it is. Trust me, you DON'T want to miss out on a single word of their relationship.

I have a lot of favorite books. Within those books, I have a lot of favorite characters. Not a single one can compare to Dylan. She’s...I don’t even know what to say about her. She’s quirky. She’s not your normal heroine we’ve all read about in other books. She lives in her own world, and I mean that very literally. Dylan refuses to settle down. She wants to see the world and experience everything that she would be missing by staying in one place. Through the first two books, you’ll experience Dylan meeting Gray (who I also completely adore. It's not all about Dylan. He is so perfect for her, and you'll fall head over heels in love with him), the beginning of their relationship, and her leaving. More than once. She breaks Gray’s heart, he breaks hers, it’s a back and forth that you’re not sure will ever be resolved. I sort of feel bad for anyone who read these as they were released because the waiting game after finishing each would have killed me. I couldn't get enough of these characters and their lives though. You know when you're so enthralled with a book that time just disappears? You're living and breathing that book? That was me with all three of these. I don't know what I'm going to do when I start a new book and I don't have Gray and Dylan.

In Finally, Forever, by some crazy coincidence (although Dylan would say it was meant to work out that way for a reason), Dylan and Gray end up at the same place in Omaha, and Dylan needs a ride to New Mexico. Ahh I'm such a sucker for a good road trip story but this one goes above and beyond. They have some interesting situations come up along the way and it makes for such a fun tale. Throughout it all, they're trying to come to terms with their feelings. They're both still so completely in love with one another after all of the time that has passed since they broke up, (spoiler there! Sorry about that!) Gray expects he'll have to let her go, because that's what you do with Dylan - You let her go to do her own thing. He's the only person who understands her but it breaks him to have to do it. Dylan is trying to sort out what to do with herself and how to make it work with the love of her life. It's just all very emotional. The unknown is the worst part for me, because you WANT them to finally have their happily ever after. In every book, you'll think "Okay this is it. This is their time." and sure enough, you're proven wrong. So I couldn't help but be a bit leery of this one because I just wanted them to get their fairytale ending so badly! Without giving away too much, I will say my heart was very happy. Everything came together like perfect little puzzle pieces, and it ended exactly like I hoped. Katie couldn't have written a better ending, in my opinion.

And Katie. Okay I'm almost mad at myself for not learning of Katie Kacvinsky before this week. Where have I been?! She's amazing. Her writing is unlike anything else out there. She's fun and feisty and I just adore her. I'll gladly scream it from the rooftops: I'm a Katie Kacvinsky fangirl! I devoured this series because of the story and the characters, but only because the writing was so right.

Overall, this book is the perfect combination of an intriguing storyline, fantastic humor, and a heartwarming love story. You just never know where Dylan and Gray's story will lead but they keep you interested from page to page. It's so different. It's creative, spunky, and so refreshing. You'll get sucked into their tale and won't want to let go. I highly recommend not just Finally, Forever but the entire First Comes Love series.

The last book broke my heart. Seriously. And I wonder how can these two people who are obviously so in love with each other can’t be together? I’m on the third book, I’m crossing my fingers, because I can’t be sure if they two will end up together, or they will go separate ways by the end of the novel – because the second book, I ended up with a bad case of heart ache and have left some dull pain at the pit of my stomach.

Maybe that’s why despite all those emotions evoked by the second book in the series, I felt compelled on reading this – deep in my heart, I’m still pinning for these two stubborn characters. I still have huge hopes that they will come into their senses, just settle (for the love of god), and be together. Fate had brought them back together every now and then, can one of them take a hint?!

Gray Thomas had let her go, Dylan was not your ordinary kind of girl. You will love her immensely and you can hate her just as much. She has this optimism that can brighten up dark days, and the energy not to stay put in one place. She didn’t know where the wind would take her, but she knows that one day, she will marry Gray. And I’m hoping that with her type of personality and optimism, it will happen.

After fifteen months, fate had brought them back together. He didn’t expect it, she didn’t expect it. They were once again thrown into each other’s path – and once again, one heck of a road trip began.

Gray tried his best to save himself from any future disasters of the heart…

"I can’t let myself remember. I can’t let myself want her. She is the one thing I can never have. I look up at the door she’s about to walk through. I gave you up. I realized I wasn’t born to love you. I was born to lose you. You are my sad song. My melancholy mix. My regrets, my what ifs. You are my past until you suddenly crashed into my present. But you will never be my future."

But as usual, Dylan was the only girl who can get through his walls and his façade. He was the girl that can make him do crazy things, make him smile and yes, make him cry.

She broke your heart and then you broke hers.

Dylan loves him, and she knew he still loved her. But first, she must break the walls that he built around his heart, and restore the heart she broke in the process. He was the only person who knows her, her passion, and what she really wants in life. She had travelled far and wide, met new and different kind of people but there was only one person whom she fell in love with, and her heart would only belong to Gray. They may not always have the perfect timing, and sometimes things would break them apart, but then fate would just led them back into each other’s arms. Seeing him again, with someone new in his life – her heart bled, and she’s wondering if there was a possibility they can start anew, or did her zest in life threw away the best possible thing that could ever happen to her?

some_text

For Gray and Dylan being together is always an adventure. You can never know the ending, you can’t predict what is going to happen. Maybe that what makes this series very interesting – you can never expect anything. Every page, every chapter, every moment will surprise you. You will either swoon with delight or your hearts will just tear apart. I loved some moments, hated some of it – but fell in love with the whole series. This was something different, something new for me, and I have embraced these two amazing characters that have imprinted themselves inside my heart.

The ending? It was so Dylan. It was so Gray. It was so them. I completely loved it, and completely believed that after they have been through, there was no other road to take, but the road to their ultimate happy ending.

This is the perfect completion of an incredible NA romance series. It's not your typical love story. It's a crazy beautiful journey of two unique people towards one another in search of who they are and what their place in the world is.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I strongly recommend to read books 1 and 2 in order to get the full story of Gray and Dylon. You wouldn't want to miss any of the twists and turns, heartbreak and joy of their romance.

Finally, Forever starts 15 months after the events in the end of book 2 (where Dylan and Gray broke up both thinking it's best for the other person to be free to follow his/her dreams). Now they meet by chance and discover than neither of them has moved on - you can't really put your soulmate, the true love of your life behind that easily, or at all.

Gray and Dylan end on a sort of road trip and after some initial misunderstandings and some crazy adventures, neither of them can deny the strong feelings for the other.

For me this is a story about choices, about discovering what matters in life and going after it, about making compromises and learning to give. I love the theme of journey as a metaphor for the growth and development of the characters.

I've loved both Dylan with her craziness, her optimism, her propensity to give love and Gray with his darkness, his calm and introvert behaviour from the start. They are complete opposites but they complement each other perfectly. They each give the other what is needed to make him/her a better person.

There is a lot of angst and pain in this story, but also a lot of love and hope.

At first, I didn't like the ending very much. It was like fate brought them together and neither of them made an effort to make it happen. When I thought more about it, though, I realized that it was because they made the conscious decision to try to make things work out between them, that fate helped them by bringing them together in the same city for the first time. It was the right time for both of them and they had learned what they needed to learn in order to be together finally forever.

In conclusion, the whole Love Comes First series stand out among the rest of the New Adult romances out there with great writing and amazing and truly unique characters. Dylan and Gray are witty and funny and their sometimes clever, more often ridiculously random observations on life, love, family, friendships make this series a real pleasure to read.

Finally, Forever is the third book about Gray and Dylan by Katie Kacvinsky, but can absolutely be read as a standalone novel. So, don't think, "Oh, I can't read this (yet) because I haven't read the first two books." Nope, that's not at all necessary. Katie does a fabulous job bringing readers into the story without any need to summarize what's going on. Jump right in!

And let me tell you, I love these characters. They are as opposite as day and night, yet their differences bring out the best in one another. I also love that they have an appreciation and respect for those differences. They know each other so well and are so connected, that apart they're like two people submerged in water, fighting their way to the surface to breathe. Ahh, this is romance/love at its finest.

Dylan (named for Bob Dylan - her mom's favorite musician) is one of the quirkiest, free spirited, delightful characters I've ever read. The fact that she falls for Gray, a more straight-laced, down-to-earth, baseball player, and he falls for her, is . . . well . . . a perfect pairing!

There's a wonderful cast of secondary characters. Almost immediately, we're introduced to Nick, who jumps right in as Dylan's boyfriend. The tales we weave! Then there's Dylan's unwed pregnant sister Serena, who adds quite a bit of sparkle to the story. So does Rachel, Gray's coach's daughter. I'm being vague, but don't make any assumptions here. Remember that phrase - If you assume you could make an ass out of you and me? Then there's Mike, the comedian, Serena's older-by-ten-years boyfriend.

I can't begin to tell you how many yummy moments there are in this novel. Like the time Dylan and Gray get caught in a horrific storm, or Dylan picking up a hitchhiker, or the hospital scenes when Serena gives birth. There are moments when you'll feel your heart jabbed with a icepick and so many more when you'll be sighing with joy! And yes, you will laugh! If you don't, well . . . let's talk. For those who are really into music, you'll appreciate all the musical references.

This book is geared toward young adults eighteen and older. But there are plenty of young adult novels that are much more graphic than this. So if you're in high school and have read books Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, then you're fine. There are details of childbirth, sexual references between soul mates. You decide!

Dylan and Gray definitely make my list for favorite book couples.

If you love a romance with characters with personality, then you'll love Finally, Forever!

I received a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

---- FULL REVIEW...

I am at a loss for words. This is the first series that I’ve read in a very long time where book one, two, and three were all a HUGE FIVE stars for me! I loved the first book in the series, FIRST COMES LOVE, and raved about it when I was done. It was actually one of the very first contemporaries I've read. I wasn’t big on contemporary reads. My favorite type of books were always supernatural/paranormal. I gave this series a shot because I loved Katie Kacvinsky’s dystopian novels, and was familiar with her writing. I am so happy I did because this series will forever be one of my favorites and on the very top of my recommendation list. FIRST COMES LOVE was also the very first New Adult I've ever read. Originally it was labeled Young Adult since at that time the New Adult genre had not lifted off the ground yet.

What I like, or should I say, ABSOLUTELY love about this series is all the emotions Gray and Dylan go through. How real it felt while reading. I got so lost in their emotions and fell so completely in love with the both of them... my poor little heart!! It definitely is one heck of a roller coaster ride. And the best part is that you can read each book as a standalone. I mean there will be a couple of questions here and there, but not enough to leave you confused and wanting more. Each book really is a brand new story with a complete ending.

FINALLY, FOREVER is the third in the series and by far my favorite! I loved the first two, no, ADORED the first two in the series, but this one just really got to me. I cried, laughed, smiled from ear to ear… I basically went through every emotion someone in love goes through while reading this book. Katie Kacvinsky has written one of the best romantic couples ever.

If you’re a new adult lover who is also a sucker for a good heart ripping story that leaves you happy in the end, DEFINITELY PICK THIS BOOK UP! You can start from the beginning with FIRST COMES LOVE, or just dive right into FINALLY, FOREVER. I love, love, love this series! I will forever be a fan of Katie Kacvinsky. I thought her dystopian series was amazing, but this just tops it all.

OH MY GOD. This book is WAY overdue, ok? I remember reading Book 2 and having my heart ripped out at the end. So. Cruel.

Anyway, I was a bit scared to read this at first. What if Dylan and Gray weren't the same people I remembered? What if Katie Kacvinsky suddenly messed up (you know how it is with final books in series)? I was so afraid of not getting the closure I wanted. But when I read the first page, I was greeted by Gray, and he sounded so familiar I wanted to cry. No, seriously. I was so emotional okay! I love these idiots.

But I digress. Where was I? Right. The book.

"Was there ever really an us? Or just a me, and a you, and these random moments when our lives accidentally collide? Maybe that's it for us."

Gray is still Gray, and Dylan is still Dylan. I can't express how much I love their love. It's the definition of unconditional love, the you're you and that's why I love you love. I'm gushing, and I don't make sense, I know. You have to read the books to understand what I'm talking about. Dylan is simple yet a very complicated soul. She's wild and unrestrained and restless and so full of life, and I love that Gray is the only one that truly understands that about her. That she couldn't be pinned down. She's not normal and she's never going to be.

Sigh. I don't know how to do this thing. I just love this book. CLOSURE! Finally.

He’s building a wall around his mind...But his mind is like a town that I’ve lived in and I know every street. I’ve memorized every turn, every slope, and every jagged hill. He can put up road blocks and build detours all he wants, but I know my way around with my eyes closed.

I really love how Dylan views Gray. She sees him as deep and mysterious, full of theories and fascinating speculations. She's so in love with him. I could feel my nerve endings tingling along with hers every time Gray looks at her. I feel like I got to know Dylan and her perspective of Gray better.
Gray is still Gray. I love that he hasn't really changed. That he is still serious and still standoff-ish with most of the world. Yet he and Dylan fit perfectly. Somehow they complete each other in a completely unexpected way. It's just so lovely.
Kacvinsky is a rich writer, she fills each line and each phrase with emotion and beauty. I really love her effortless style. Even the intimate scenes are done tastefully with few graphic details.

There are so many amazing and heartfelt moments in this book. A lot of times I wanted to pull out a quote but I then stopped because I knew I couldn't do it justice. But let me tell you, I literally whooped when I saw Dylan utter this line.

How do you make a person your final destination?

I'm surprised to see no reviews of this book yet. Anyways, eeeeeeeepppp!!! I get to do first review of one of my favorite stories!!!! I'm a FAN of Dylan. And Gray is so one of my favorite characters of all time. I think this is a nice sweet read, though I must Say,it didnt quite match my my sky high expectations for the final instalment, the finally forever of Dylan and Gray wasn't as magical as the previous both books. Like I said sweet read but not as epic as the predecessors. But don't be fooled, there were some nice scenes I laughed out loud to and smiled at. The introduction of new characters was nice. But mostly I was disappointed with Dylan and her flightiness. I know that's the best thing about her and u can't hate her for it but I think there should be a point in everybody's life where they don't only go where they want to,but should where they need to. And in the end I guess she realises that but the ending is again a little bit open ended. So,It's happened twice before, and if there's one thing we know about Dylan, It's that she's unpredictable. Gray was OK. Everything was nice, but I just didn't get misty eyed like in the other two books. Sigh. I wish there was another sequel to it Lol. OK well, the ride was nice and fun, regardless! Hope u enjoy!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy. This third one fell flat for me. The Nebraska chance encounter was hard to reconcile after I was asked to do the same in book two when Dylan was traveling and the signs lined up for her. One hard to believe encounter is all a series can take I think. The plot was thin. Not a lot of action happened except for a couple bursts of over-the-top scenes with a tornado and a felon. Secondary relationships were resolved nice and neat and were so insignificant they could've been left out all together. They worked as a painfully weak attempt to drive plot and character introspection. The story seemed forced. I finished this book out of duty because not finishing the story of two characters I came to love was slightly less appealing than finishing.

I loved the ending. It seemed perfect because not only it is a happy ending but it's hopeful, it's promising- like a pledge to a fulfilling life for both of them individually and, most importantly, together. this may be my favourite young adult-romance series. it seemed to me that they were complex personalities and even though I could relate more to Gray than to Dylan, I loved them both, each unique in every way.
more importantly, this whole series made me think, made me reflect about what I want from the one next to me. this is what a good book is for me: the way it makes me reflect upon my own situation.

I loved the first two in this series and finally forever was the perfect final book. I have been waiting 18 months for this book and it didn't disappoint. Dylan and Grey are both such loveable, real characters it was actually sad to finish with them. Highly recommend the whole series!

i tried. i really did. but this book and i just didn't work out.

Their coincidental reunion was too unbelievable for me and so out of nowhere. I stopped right after the tornado. I couldn't take it anymore.
