How good are you at keeping a secret?

Because I, Juniper Perry, have been keeping a big one.

For over a decade, I’ve been crushing on the guy with the easy smile, warm brown eyes, and charismatic charm. He’s all the perfect things that, when you add them up, spell out Man of my dreams.

I know that doesn’t sound bad at all, but there’s more to this story...

We work together. I’m a lowly intern, and he’s a high-powered executive.

He’s my newest neighbor. No joke—he’s temporarily living next door to me.

And to top it all off, he’s my best friend’s older brother.

I’ve spent what feels like an eternity keeping my crush on him a secret, but recently, I’ve found a way to have him and my anonymity too. A way to chat and flirt and get close to him.

My best friend doesn’t know about these Midnight chats.

And he doesn’t know I’m the girl he’s talking to night after night.

Beau Banks might be completely off-limits, but what happens at Midnight stays between us...

✨ALL THAT GLITTER AIN'T GOLD✨!!!!!!! Meet Me At Midnight written by Max Monroe was raw, beautiful, powerful, real, inspiring, and heart breaking. Max Monroe is one of my favorite dynamic author duo's, their writing is just so poignant and beautiful. When I saw that gorgeous cover, I knew I had to get my hands on this book immediately, and I'm so happy that I got to read this book because I fell in love with Beau Banks, who is now my new book boyfriend. THE QUEENS ABSOLUTELY DELIVERED WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!!!!!! I loved every single minute of this book that I literally read it in one day because I was that captivated by the story and the characters lives. There's absolutely nothing that I would change about this book, but I will say that if you don't like all of that spiciness then this book isn't for you. The tropes in this book were just pure golden. I can't recommend this book enough, if you want to fall in love with a fictional cinnamon roll of a man named Beau Banks, then you need to read this beautiful, yet heart breaking book immediately. I felt so many raw emotions while reading this book, I laughed, I smiled, I cried, I felt so much joy and so many other emotions. 💍❤Beau Banks, the love of my life, I'm still waiting for you to propose💍❤.

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND MAX MONROE FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!

The dedication of this book was absolutely beautiful it brought tears to my eyes on the very first page. 😭😍To anyone who has ever had a secret crush. We hope you get your Midnight soon😭😍. Max Monroe, I love you both so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel seen.

😴Rule Number Three: This book may cause sleeplessness. Do NOT lay down and read this book, or say one more chapter before bed, because you won't be sleeping anytime soon😴.

❌Rule Number Four: This book may cause antisocial behavior. Do NOT take this book to social events❌.

😇😍😂Rule Number Five: This book may cause incessant smiling, swooning, and giggling. Do NOT call your significant other Beau Banks😇😍😂.

"❤😭I'm in love with Beau Banks, and he doesn't have a fucking clue❤😭."

"💫Beau and Juniper. The most ridiculous thing in the world💫." Avery said.

"👩‍❤️‍👨Midnight is an immersive experience for meeting strangers and turning them into lovers👩‍❤️‍👨."

Juniper Perry has been keeping the biggest secret of her life that could cause her to lose her friendship, or maybe it won't. Juniper is in love with her best friend's brother, Juniper has been pining over Beau Banks for at least ten years now. Avery Banks is Juniper's best friend and Beau's little sister. Juniper is a brand new marketing intern extraordinaire at Banks and McKenzie Marketing and Beau and Avery's dad, Neil Banks is now Juniper's new boss and Beau Banks is the top executive at Banks and McKenzie Marketing. Beau Banks is every girl's dream man, he has pearly whites, dark honey colored eyes, and dimples, this man is just hot. Beau sees Juniper as his sister, but Juniper doesn't see Beau that way, Juniper sees Beau as her wildest fantasy and her secret crush that she's been keeping from literally everyone. At Banks and McKenzie Marketing they are trying to create a new app and finally they do, it's called Midnight, which allows users to remain anonymous, no saving messages allowed, and taking screenshots isn't allowed either. Beau and Juniper get their hands on Midnight and communicate with each other, but after sharing secrets, Beau and Juniper decide to meet at midnight in their condo's gym. Beau goes by the username ThunderStruck and Juniper goes by the username ElizaBeth.

I absolutely loved Juniper and Avery's friendship, it was just so wholesome and precious. Avery and Juniper became friends in kindergarten, they remained friends through elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and now share a condo together and they even work together at Banks and McKenzie Marketing, but Avery shows up to work whenever she wants because she's literally just a princess according to her father who is also her boss. Avery has a flighty attitude, quick wit, but most importantly she has a heart the size of Texas. I also loved Neil and Diane Banks, Avery and Beau's parents who are also Juniper's found family because Juniper's parents just basically left her high in the wind. I absolutely adored that the Banks family welcomed Juniper with opened arms and include her in their family lifestyle. The banter in this book was absolutely hilarious, I found myself wheezing because I couldn't stop laughing out loud. Like I said before, Beau will make you fall in love with him, he was just a sweet sugary cinnamon roll. The banter between all of the characters was the best part, they all made me laugh with their smart ass remarks towards one another. Despite secrets being kept, the friendships were so precious. I just can't express the love I have for this book, I think this will be a new favorite read of mine in 2024.

Woof. I thought this was a cute idea, but man this book pissed me off so bad.

Fmc reasoning for reaching out to mmc could literally be resolved by having one in person conversation. I know that takes away from the “fun” of the story, but that’s literally it. They’ve known each other for years, should be comfortable enough to have the conversation they’d need to have, and it would’ve been fine. And yet here we are.

I’m actually gobsmacked that when mmc found out what fmc did, he totally played it cool—nay he didn’t just play it cool, he turned the dial up 10,000 and became weird and obsessed too like whattttttt are we doing guys 😭😭

That being said, those are little things in comparison to the best friend and sister to the main characters. She was actually one of the most disgustingly self absorbed characters I’ve ever read about. Homegirl is so rich and spoiled like… it was hard to read. She doesn’t take her job seriously, gets mad fmc never wants to go party(bc she actually wants to do her job, but also talk to mmc)… like fmc has an absentee family and is sensitive about the way her family treats her and in a moment of insecurity bestie makes the nastiest comment about it?! It was very reminiscent of princess diaries when Mia’s dad just died and lily was like, but that was like three months ago??? Anyways, that was nasty of lily, but she was 16. These people are adults 😭😭😭😭 this girls visceral reaction to finding out the mcs were together was actually insane. Why is this such an issue?? Ur busy using and abusing ur flirty girl powers at the club but you can’t be happy for two normal humans that like each other? R u fr. Anyways I could write a paper on all this chicks nasty behavior and I have zero idea what fmc gets from being her bestie(besides nasty girls family). Their relationship as friends made zero sense. Butttttt everyone made excuses for this girls behavior and it was just hehe that’s fine she’s a terrible person we love her anyways🫶🏻 so I guess there’s that. Literally day mcs get married father compliments fmc and this chick is like uhh what about me?? What about you, hoe?? It’s not your day!!!!!!!

Anyways, bottom line:
This was pretty lame and I don’t think you should waste your time.

3.5⭐
Genre ~ New Adult Romance
Setting ~ I forget 😂
Publication date ~ book ~ November 8, 2024, audio ~ March 4, 2025
Publisher ~ Dreamscape Media
Est Page Count ~ 356 (44 chapters +e)
Audio length ~ 9 hours 12 minutes
Narrators ~ C.J. Bloom, Alexander Cendese
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ 12 parts, secret crush, best friend's brother, sister's best friend, coworkers, neighbors to lovers, secret romance, some steamage

Juniper (23) & Beau (28) have known each other for ages, and she's had a secret crush on him for just as long. She practically grew up in their house because her parents have no interest in being in her life. Truly heartbreaking, but the found family is so well done that you can't help but be happy she has them to support her.

Avery is the bff and sister and I absolutely could not stand her. I couldn't stand her so much that I will not be reading her book, I just can't. She was so awful and I just can't see myself enjoying it at all, so it's best to just pass. While we're discussing her ~ how did she not know Juniper has been pining over Beau for all these years? Too self absorbed it seems. She has no work ethic and just gives off too much of a spoiled rich bi!ch vibe for me. She spends most of her time clubbing, partying, getting manis/pedis and drinking starby's.

Anyway, June and Beau started texting on an app. The thing is that she knows it's him and he has no clue who he's talking dirty to. I'm not super big on deception like this, but Beau was sweet and I'm so glad he did not have any interest in her back in the day due to their age gap.

Overall, their banter was pretty great and as I said above the support of the found family parents was perfect, therefore I'll round up my rating. This will probably appeal to those in the new adult phase of their life.

Narration notes:
I love love love! when it's duet narration 🥳🙌 I think it really gives it more pizazz!

HUGE thanks to Max Monroe for the ARC through NetGalley! 💖 This book was EVERYTHING, and I had such a blast reading it. From the first page to the last, I was hooked! The chemistry between June and Beau? 🔥 Absolute fire. Their slow burn and secret chats had me feeling all the feels—I seriously couldn’t put it down! The humor was on point, witty, and I found myself laughing out loud at every turn. I finished this in one sitting because it was just TOO good to stop! 😍

✨ Tropes & Themes ✨
✧ Brother’s Best Friend 💖
✧ Office Romance 💼
✧ Hidden Identity 🖤
✧ Secret Relationship 🤭
✧ She Falls First, He Falls Harder 💘
✧ Slow Burn 🔥
✧ Found Family 💕
✧ Sweet Moments & Big Feels 💖

Okay, let’s get into June and Beau! 🤩 June is SO relatable! I loved how she tried to juggle her feelings while being all professional at work (we’ve all been there, right?). And then... Beau. Swoon 😍 He’s a total dreamboat, and his charm and sweetness had me wrapped around his finger. The mystery surrounding their Midnight chats? YES, please. The secret identity angle was so intriguing, and their connection was beyond heartwarming. 🌙✨

BUT, I have to be real with you... the third-act breakup with Avery was a bit much for me. There was some unnecessary drama that, while not dragging on too long, felt a little out of place. 😅 It didn’t ruin the vibe, though—it was just a tiny hiccup in an otherwise perfect read!

All in all, this book was such a fun ride full of humor, swoon-worthy romance, and all the big feels I love. Definitely recommend this to anyone who’s a fan of secret crushes, slow-burn romance, and finding love in unexpected places! 💙📖

And let me just say... I’m SO excited for Avery and Henry’s book next!! Can’t wait to see what Max Monroe has in store for those two! 😍📚

2.5 ⭐

80% horniness, 15% plot, 5% comedy
This was my first Max Monroe book and let me tell you I'm not excited for more 😐 let's break the book down
The MMC's inner monologue is borderline predator-like. He never thought of the FMC's good characteristics; it's always her body this and her body that. I don't have anything to say about the FMC, but I really hated every moment of them s*xting texting. Like, don't you have a better thing to do or say, for example, getting to know each other? 🤨
The narration is 3 ⭐ it's in Duet I think but nothing special 🤷🏻‍♀️

This book said… best friend’s brother AND a secret relationship? To which I answered… uh absolutely, sign me up for the emotional chaos. 😋

Juniper and Beau were so fun to get to know. This book was playful and fun. The banter was so good and the MC’s had really great chemistry. Beau made for the best cinnamon roll book boyfriend. Our girl Juni is absolutely obsessed, and it warms my heart to see her get the love and family she deserves.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this!

The beginning really set the tone, but once everything was out in the open, it went downhill.

The premise of "girl has a crush on boy for years that was going nowhere and then girl and boy end up together" is a thing so many of us can relate to. I feel like the majority of everyone has liked someone and it was unrequited and we fantasized about being with them if we just did this one thing or changed this other thing about ourselves. It's devastating when it doesn't work out. So, I was super intrigued by this story bc it had a happily ever after in mind for a girl with an unrequited crush on a boy that she never thought she'd ever get to be with. I just wish the execution of this book was better.

The dialogue was cringey and horrendous, the chemistry was nonexistent, Beau was into June way too quickly especially since she lied to him, the sex scenes also came too quick, the "deep" online conversations they had offscreen even tho Beau had no earthly clue who his Mystery Woman was (it was so obvious! Who is within a young age range, has freckles everywhere, got into deep convos with you, and you didn't recognize her?! Stupidity, i tell you lol), Avery was so goddamn annoying and a horrible and toxic friend, the sexual tension was lackluster (tbh, the sexual tension was nonexistent and the sex wasn't that great, really), the telling and not a lot of showing, the constant clubbing/drinking, the reiteration of June saying her parents are never present (literally every chapter), the blonde bimbo jokes, and the blow up after everyone learns Beau and June are together was ridiculous and stupid. Who the fuck cares if Beau and June were having a secret relationship? I thought this family loved each other and would honestly be thrilled that they got together to make June an official part of the family.

It really wasn't a good book. I would skip this one.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

the setup…
Juniper (June) Perry is a marketing assistant working with her best friend Avery Banks whose family owns the company. Both are children of privilege but June’s parents have been MIA since their divorce when she was twelve and she’s literally lived with the Banks family since. But there’s one problem…she’s had a crush on Avery’s big brother Beau for a decade, which she’s kept secret from everybody. Now she’s got an even bigger secret. She’s the anonymous woman who’s been “chatting” with him every night on the Midnight app they’re developing a marketing campaign pitch for. It started harmlessly but now has morphed into something sizzling.

the heart of the story…
June is hard working and fairly well adjusted despite her lousy parents. She’s carried that torch for Beau alone, not even confiding in Avery, who is a great bestie but the epitome of a spoiled princess. There are lots of fun moments and near misses as she tries to maintain her anonymity with Beau until she can’t. The romance ramps up fast but I just went with the momentum.

the narration…
CJ Bloom (aka Carly Robins) captured the essence of both June and the annoying Avery. Loved the whimsy she brought to the story. Alexander Cendese made Beau really likeable but just a little too exuberant at times. Overall, I enjoyed the performances.

the bottom line…
Be prepared for a full immersion into the lives of the super wealthy and all that entails. I really liked June, Beau and the Banks family but Avery was insufferable, though her loyalty to June was admirable. It gets quite steamy once they make that connection and it has a great epilogue. I had a good time and am curious as to how Avery transforms in the next book.

Juniper has been in love with Beau Banks, her best friend's brother from the moment she laid eyes on him. She has spent her whole life secretly crushing on him and her bestie has no idea. Unfortunately for Juniper, Beau views her as a little sister and with The Banks family being her only family, she is scared to do anything that would jeopardize the dynamic. That is until the marketing firm they all work at acquires an app that allows people to chat anonymously. Juniper reaches out to Beau on the app at first with company intel but then it turns into something else, something more. Suddenly Beau is intrigued by the woman behind the screen and is determined to figure out her identity.

Tropes:
Best friends brother
She falls first, he falls harder
Forced proximity
Found Family

Although predictable, I thought Meet Me At Midnight was cute! Juniper has such a fun sarcastic personality and Beau is a total sweetheart. There were a few laugh out loud moments as well as times of reflection and growth which made the book feel balanced. If you're in the mood for a happily ever after, then here it is!

“I remember, June. Apparently I remember everything when it comes to you.”

I didn’t really vibe with this one unfortunately. I was so excited by the premise because I usually love a forbidden romance but this missed the mark for me. Meet Me at Midnight is a dual-POV romance that follows Juniper and Beau. Juniper and Avery are besties for life and both working as interns at Avery’s dad’s firm. Beau is Avery’s hot older brother who Juniper has secretly had a crush on since she first met him. He also works at the firm. A new project comes in to the marketing firm for an app called, Midnight, where users can talk anonymously to other users. Perhaps some employees at the firm will have to test the platform out before it’s official launch…

I wanted to get lost in the rich, glamorous life these characters flaunt, but I just found them insufferable. The dialogue is cringey. Avery is obnoxious and clueless. Beau and Juniper are meh; very one-dimensional. This should have been steamy and exciting with the messaging app and the sneaking around, but I didn’t feel any tension between the main characters. There’s lust, but not really any convincing romance. The sweetest part of the story was between Diane and Neil, who despite their wealth and self-absorbed children, seemed like really great people. I loved the way they took in Juniper as their own and really truly cared for her.

I definitely wish I skipped this one, not for me!

Thank you to Netgalley and Max Monroe for providing this book in exchange for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I finished this in one sitting because it was so unputdownable! I liked the writing, and even though not all jokes worked for me, I had a lot of fun reading this book.

June and Beau were great together and their chemistry was pure fire. In general I’m not a fan of secrets, but I loved that he initially didn’t know who he was talking to. It was a neat trick to avert any potential creepiness, which was very appreciated in this setting. It was maybe a little weird that they were having cyber sex before he even knew who she was, but luckily they quickly moved on to the real thing.😏

What didn’t work for me was Beau’s sister and June’s bestie Avery. She was a spoiled, entitled princess and she annoyed me to no end. I didn’t get why everyone was so okay with her laziness, and what was even the point of having her employed if she never showed up for work anyway.

She was also partially responsible for the third act breakup, which was the stupidest thing ever. June and Avery were 23 but acting like 15 and I really hate third act breakups built on fabricated high-school-level drama. The last few chapters were a train wreck and it’s really a shame because it was an anticlimactic ending to an otherwise captivating story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Let me start by saying the author is a LIAR and I quote:
“This book may cause uncontrollable laughter.”
“This book may cause a serious amount of
distraction.”
“This book may cause sleeplessness.”
“This book may cause antisocial behavior.”
“This book may cause incessant smiling, swooning, and giggling.”

Not. A. Single. One. Of. These. Statements. Is. True. If anything, I experienced the complete opposite. The moment I read “uncontrollable laughter,” I should have known this was going to be absolute garbage.

I have never read a book that made me want to scream so much or cringe at every single word. It felt like the author has never interacted with real humans before because this was a disaster from start to finish. The best friend had no personality and was just a rich woman-child with Peter Pan syndrome. Honestly, the main character wasn’t any better she read like a 12-year-old girl pretending to be an adult. The forced humor was unbearable; every joke missed so hard it physically hurt.

I was begging for this book to end. The fact that such a short book felt like an eternity is beyond embarrassing. Every time I picked it up, I wanted to cry. “Sleeplessness?” Please. All I wanted to do was pass out and forget I ever picked this up. And when I saw “booty rizz” used to describe twerking, I knew I had officially entered literary hell.

I have never cared less about a set of characters in my life. I even speed-read the sex scenes just to end my suffering faster. But no, the author had to drag it out with painfully short, pointless chapters. This book could have ended 100 pages earlier, but of course, it just had to keep going.

By the end, I wasn’t even relieved it was just pure exhaustion. Zero stars. This book had me thinking about leaving my book club!

Read if you like: workplace romance, childhood crush, neighbours to lovers, best friend’s brother, forced proximity, forbidden romance, nepo babies

Juniper has been pining after Beau for 10 years. There are so many reasons why she can’t go after him. She’s an intern and he’s an executive, he’s her best friend’s older brother.

For a rich place they’re staying in a building with very thin walls 😂 I guess I don’t need realism
The first 40% of the book hooked me then it went meh from there. There was no chemistry or romance, yes there were lots of sneaking around to see each other but it was a lot of telling rather than showing their connection. I wasn’t getting anything from him and I wasn’t convinced that he was into her.

I don’t like how Avery was portrayed, she seemed like an extreme ditz. I’m sure there are people like this irl but she had zero personality besides being spoilt, dumb and being a flake. Boys were always on her mind (perfectly fine) but she didn’t seem like a good friend, she just seemed self absorbed. I understand that she was hurt with the whole thing but she was a shit friend too, so I thought that was sooo hypocritical 🙄

Considering that this was mostly a texting/online relationship, when it all blew up Juniper went M.I.A and decided to not communicate at all 😭 I found this so frustrating and immature

Maybe give this a go if you like the tropes, I did stay and finish it until the end so it still held my interest.

Max Monroe Midnight bk 01 Meet Me at Midnight

Secret Rendezvous

Juniper (June, Junie) Perry's secret crush on Beau Banks is unveiled in an unconventional way. Their story is predictable, yet mostly entertaining. It is a decent read. I don't see myself revisiting it though.

I’ve had years—a decade, even—of fantasizing about my best friend’s older brother perceiving me as more than an extra appendage of his younger sister, Avery.
-- Juniper Perry

Juniper's best friend and Beau's sister, Avery, drove me up a wall. She cares about little except for partying and spending daddy's money. It was a detractor and annoyance. Her materialism and self-centeredness were too much. My round down was related to this secondary character who plays a big role in the overall story.

Even if Avery's grown up in the time that's past between where this book started and where the next one will, I'm departing the train at this stop. Maybe I'll try another series from this writing duo down the road. Time will tell.

I borrowed the audio book. The narrators, CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese, are in duet, and I'm here for it. 😉🥳 I've listened to both in solo situations, and I definitely prefer them in duet. 🎧❤️🎧

ADORABLE!

That was so cute and funny and sweet and I just loved reading it.
Poor Juniper is so in love with Beau and now she's chatting and flirting with him on this app and he doesn't know it's her! Ugh. He will be so mad when he finds out! And he won't be the only one - she's lying to her whole second family.
I loved reading this. It was so cute and funny and sexy and a bit sad with poor Juni's parents and all that.
Great romance with a few great epilogues!! Can't wait to read Avery's story next year!

Ooofff!

That was mostly painful.

This was an okay premise, though somewhat uninspired if I'm being honest. I've definitely read this plot before and if memory serves, it was done way better. I just don't have the energy or inclination to go dig up the other novel.

This starts out funny enough, and that's probably what drew me in. Juniper is a fresh out of college new hire fumbling her way through her first really important zoom call and can't quite seem to get the kitty filter off the screen. There are a lot of "pussy jokes" and it's engaging, as we can all sort of relate to some degree to Juniper's plight.

However, once those shenanigans are over the book falls flat. It literally peaked in chapter one.

The marketing firm Juniper works for is owned by her bestie's (Avery) dad, Neil, and home to her long-time crush and Avery's older brother, Beau, who is some kind of important executive.

The initial chapter is the setup for the whole novel. The pitch was to a major social media empire and in order to get the account, Beau and his rival (former bestie and the dude who stole his gf and who seems like an all-around asshat) are tasked with creating competing campaigns which they will present, head to head. The whole Meet Me At Midnight thing pertains to the dating app they're going to be pitching for.

I guess the one unique detail is that Juniper doesn't actually use the app to romantically connect with Beau initially but that is the unintended consequence. Initially she merely reaches out anonymously to warn him that his nemesis is snooping around, trying to get intel on Beau's campaign.

So, as you can see, this is a cute setup and has great potential. I mean, she knows she's talking to Beau so she can be her real self instead of the tongue-tied annoying friend of his baby sister. And for a while it looks like it's going to go there... except it never really does. This plot is so ripe with potential that it was such a letdown to see it squandered. These two never share anything potent. Nothing deep. There is no exposing of souls, no deep secrets revealed, no substance. At all. As a matter of fact, the authors employ a fade to black for some of the convos. So instead of allowing the reader to experience them, they're summed up with a "and then we talked for hours about our hopes and dreams" bullsh*t line.

I'm sorry. That's a big no for me.

To make matters worse, in between all of the nothing you have to trudge through, the reader is constantly assaulted by Avery's presence. Avery, who is a spoiled narcissistic brat whose only concerns are getting hammered, what she's wearing when she goes clubbing and getting Starbucks. Avery, who NEVER goes to work which means Juniper ALWAYS has to work extra. Avery who is so self obsessed that she doesn't see her bestie struggling.

When Juniper finally reveals herself, the plot devolves further. Don't worry, the stupidity ramps up exponentially. For some awful unknown reason, she insists on keeping her fledgling relationship with Beau a secret. Though her reasoning is hugely flawed. She has far more to lose than gain by staying quiet but what do I know.

**** SPOILER AHEAD ****

When the truth is discovered, by Avery of course, everything blows up and Juniper drops Beau like a bad habit because poor Avery simply can't take knowing her bestie lied and is dating her older brother.

And this is where a three star read became a two star. And I think I was very generous with that second star. Your friend is literally an asshat from the moment she steps on the page, explain why you dump someone you love for someone who loves themself more than they could ever love you?

It's such bad and flawed reasoning there was no redeeming these characters afterward. None.

So I think I'm just going to take a hard pass on this author(s) because above and beyond the ridiculousness noted above, the writing just wasn't very good. I already tried another of their novels and it was a DNF so I’m out.

And I know this was touted as a rom-com but I didn't experience any of the com. It just wasn't funny. Except for that bit with the cat filter in chapter one. That was it. There literally wasn't anything funny after that.

4.5 stars!

I loved Meet Me at Midnight. It’s a forbidden, workplace romance between Juniper and her best friend’s brother, Beau. I loved the tropes, mystery woman plot, the dating app, the sneaking around, the fact that there was little unnecessary drama, and all of the laughs this story delivers.

Juniper has had a crush on her best friend’s brother for what feels like forever. She grew up with Beau and while she was very much a sister figure back then, she is definitely not now. June just started working for her best friend’s dad making her and Beau co-workers even though she’s an intern and he’s an executive.

Beau is working on a marketing strategy for the new “Midnight” dating app and his ex best friend, Seth, (ex because he stole Beau’s girlfriend) is determined to get the account with his own strategy. Seth will do anything to win, including steal Beau’s ideas. June overhears Seth and decides to use the app to let Beau know about Seth without letting on who she is, giving her the anonymity to be herself with her crush while Beau’s none the wiser.

I enjoyed the mystery behind the Midnight app and how June and Beau connect. I loved how their relationship progressed through the app because it was anonymous (at least one sided) and they could say and do what they wanted without fear. It gets spicy but you know the truth has to come out and you just don’t want to see how bad the fallout will be. I loved June and Beau together and didn’t want either of them to get hurt.

I love the best friend’s brother trope and this one did not disappoint. I was so good. I loved how their feelings were real and even though they were forbidden, these two couldn’t get enough of each other. I didn't want Avery, Beau’s sister and June’s best friend, to be hurt because of their lying, but I have to say I love the sneaking around June and Beau do in this book.

I love romcoms and am here for all the laughs that MM gives us but I will say that though she was hilarious, Avery was a little too over the top. Her character is lovable but she did get on my nerves a bit. I can’t even believe I am saying this because I love love love all the crazy antics MM gives us, but I found myself wanting Avery to tone down her behavior a bit. I do like Avery and would love her book because I know there is a man perfect for her.

My 2nd Max Monroe book and this one didn't disappoint. At the beginning of the book there is a warning. It warns you that the book will have you laughing out loud and that is actually true! There were many giggles and even a few spit your drink out moments. I especially loved the opening scene of the book with a zoom call gone wrong and the words Pussy cat being uttered a LOT!
The premise of the book it quite simple. We have Juniper (June) who is infatuated with her best-friend's brother (Beau) and since she has practically grown up as an unofficial adopted sibling those feelings have never been revealed or persued. When a new dating app (Midnight) is launched and the family's marketing firm has first dibs at trying it out, June decides to use it with Beau. As the app offers anonymity she figures what could go wrong? With the backdrop of a marketing competition and the family dynamics at play can June have her happy ever after with her Beau?
The banter in this book is incredible and the characters were amazing. I really really loved Avery (the best-friend) she was just so rich girl extra and I was here for it. I also loved Neil the Dad. Omg if only all Dad's were like him. Avery and Neil really did provide a lot of the humour in the book.
The audiobook was done very well. It was dual narrated male/female but I especially liked that no matter who's chapters POV it was weather male or female the dialogue of the characters were always voiced by the correct sex of that character which made it more akin to a play or movie.
Many thanks to Dreamscape Media who provided me with a copy of this audiobook via NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

This audiobook is so cute! The whole time I was listening I kept thinking how this would make a great movie for Netflix. I love the humor and relatability that so many of the FMC have in books by Max Monroe. I found myself chuckling and also rooting for the adorable two-some while I sat back and listened to their story unfold. This was a great break between my heavier historical fiction reads and provided enough depth to keep me entertained throughout.

I would definitely recommend this to those looking for something with romance and spice while also being light and funny. I would like to thank the publisher, Max Monroe, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read Max Monroe’s books before and loved this, but this completely missed the mark.

In this novel we have Juniper who works for her best friends fathers company. She has had a crush on her BFFs brother, Beau, for the past ten years, and he also works with her. When a coworker tries to conspire to take down Beau, Juniper relies on an anonymous dating app to chat with Beau and fill him in. From then on, Beau is on a mission to find his mysterious texter.

This book fell flat because of the characters. While I liked Juniper, she was one dimensional. It was hard to connect with her. Her BFF/roommate Avery was a ditz who only cared about herself. She wasn’t in touch with reality and always did things her way, and when Juniper wouldn’t follow along she would say hurtful things to her. I didn’t like that.

How stupid is Avery? She thought Montana was a third-world country and told Juniper she was acting like she was from a third-world country because she packed her own lunch for work rather than going out to eat 🙄

It was just hard to get into the book with lackluster characters.

I’m interested to see what these authors come up with next.

Really conflicted on how I feel now I’ve finally finished. Took me longer than my norm to finish, and had to make myself read instead of binge Gossip Girl (always years late to popular stuff). Too much inner monologue repeating itself over and over saying the same things, just at different times.

Thanks to NetGalley for the read. I’m probably late to that too.

DNF 25% — it was little too obsessive for me. The girl kept talking abt having a million of his brown eyed babies despite not really being in the same room/interacting with him very much in the first 75 pages

All the good tropes were here

4.5 stars

I was immediately drawn into the story in a fit of giggles in one of the funniest scenes that I have read in a while. It set up the humor that was to come, but also the complications and feelings June had for her best friend’s brother Beau. The unrequited feelings were so well done. How could I not be invested after that?

There was this beautiful tension going on, anonymous flirting with the new app they were working for, forbidden element was there in multiple levels, and it was just messy in the best way possible. It just made it all the more entertaining as they navigated that mess.

Once things really started happening, they really started happening. The chemistry between June and Beau was great. There was more than just passion, but feelings. Deep feelings that built over time due to the history they had together. It was just glorious to see them get deeper and deeper involved while dealing with outside factors along the way.

It did drag a little bit in the middle, but other than that I had a really good time with it.

Max Monroe are a dynamic duo team who I discovered this year from ARC reading and I have become an instant fan. I love the stories they create and characters they place in them. Meet Me at Midnight is no exception!

Juniper Perry, has been keeping a secret for over a decade. She’s been crushing on the guy with the easy smile, warm brown eyes, and charismatic charm. The man of her dreams you could say. And this man happens to be Beau, her best friend’s brother. Beau Banks might be completely off-limits, but when you start chatting with an anonymous chat service….anything is possible.

I love a good best friend’s sibling story. And pair that with a secret romance where Beau doesn’t even know he’s falling for the person he used to look at as a sister in an office romance…the possibilities are endless. These two have an effortless ease with their chemistry because they’ve known each other for years. That moment when Beau finally starts seeing June as the woman she’s become is so swoon-worthy you won’t want to miss it!

A few of my favorite things:
❤️Midnight secret chats
❤️Beau’s Midnight pitch with an extra side of swoon
❤️The post-it note drop offs
❤️ May the best cookies win

I loved this! The narrators were fabulous too.

June has it bad for her best friend's brother. This has been the case for years. There are several reasons she feels that she can't act on this crush. So when an opportunity presents itself, she can't resist a chance to get to know him better, even though he doesn't know who she is. Beau is pretty sweet and he's dying to know who's messaging him. Will this work or blow up in her face?

Laugh out loud moments throughout, sweet, flirty. Avery (the best friend) definitely brings the comedy with her antics. A highly enjoyable book you don't want to miss!
