Sure glad I had the Rick Steves Budapest book too. I used this LP book for the Buda walk and it was terrible. No information about what things you were seeing and missed several big sights along the way (fisherman's bastion for example). Doesn't compare to the detailed and comprehensive walks that the RS book has.
I read this in preparation for an upcoming trip to Budapest. It definitely has lots of information that helped me build an itinerary, but the usefulness of the info was a bit hit or miss, and I found something things to be out of date.

Information is for the most part pretty accurate. Only issues that seemed to pop up were concerning open/close times of some places. I still want to know where in the heck you buy the tickets for the trams though.
Good basic information. The small maps of city sections were rather confusing; hard to figure out just how they fit together since the sections were not discussed in any geographical order. Liked the shopping and eating suggestions as well as the top sights info.
Good guide as a starting point for things to do in Budapest. The pull out map wasn't so easy to use but pick up a handful of freebie maps at the tourist information office and you're sorted
