My mother and I have a complicated relationship. She’s perfect. I’m not.
When her boyfriend, Ryker Hart, ends their relationship after stepping up to help me, things get even more complicated.
Six years later, I run into him at the kink club he owns, and he’s just as sexy as I remember. When a dangerous situation brings us closer, I can’t help but look at him in a different light. He’s older, but hot as hell, and all I want is for him to teach me how to give up control. Turns out, I’d learn that and so much more.
Ryker
When my ex’s daughter flies back into my life, the last thing I should do is imagine her on her knees. Arabella Bradley is everything I shouldn’t want. Her proximity brings out a side of me I didn’t know existed, but can’t deny and I find myself wanting to show her exactly how amazing she is. I want to keep her. But how can I, when another force keeps pulling her away?
Because of You is a standalone forbidden age-gap romance.
Ellie Gates is a contemporary romance author, that is just starting to put to paper the dirty things in her brain.
When she is not writing, she lives in Michigan with her husband, wife and daughter. She is a family-centered, home body that picks up new crafts on the fly and masters them just as quickly. She loves her cats, her coffee and exploring all the kinks you will be reading about
This is Ellie’s very first book and she did a phenomenal job! I really enjoyed both Ryker and Bella and seeing the side characters only made me excited for their story! I seriously wanted to wrap my hands around Bella’s mom’s throat though. That woman was definitely walking on my last nerve, lol.
The character growth and confidence in Bella by the end was great to see. Ryker really brought her out of shell, made her more comfortable in her own skin and proved to her that she was strong and beautiful. She had so much more self esteem and confidence in herself by the end, all thanks to Ryker. And that epilogue?! Perfect!
This was a really good start to a brand new series. It was a mom’s ex, age gap, forbidden romance; with lots of good, hot and spicy scenes that will have your toes curling and panties wanting to combust, a little angsty moments and some great humor! I loved Wrinley, everyone needs a bestie like her! Looking forward for Axel’s story. That man was definitely a major ass to Bella with his douchy attitude, but there was something about him that had my attention and left me wanting more.
What had been recommended to me as a fantastic debut novel quickly turned into a rage read.
Based on the immaturity of the author's style, this book seems like it was written by a 16-year-old on Wattpad—the repetitiveness almost unalived me, the dialogue wasn't linear and seemed choppy, and it generally lacked descriptiveness and detail. The numerous inconsistencies, contradictions, and lack of research on some things were infuriating.
The characters' reactions didn't make sense based on what we knew about them. Don't even get me started on the annoying side characters (I'm looking at you, Wrinley!).
Character development was almost non-existent, and I can't for the life of me understand how anyone could find Arabella likable. Arabella was irredeemable to me as a character, she was confusing, her actions didn't match the trauma she supposedly had, and she was extremely immature. We needed more backstory to establish the connection with Arabella's mother, so we actually could've felt sorry for Arabella, as it is, we didn't see enough of the conflict.
On top of that, Arabella kept saying she had to take care of her, but we only saw her do it when her mom forced her to (no doctor's appointments, no checking to see if her mom needed anything), which ended up making her seem self-centered and whiny when we're constantly being told she's so selfless. The second her mom asks her to do something, there's this huge internal monologue about how she's being manipulative, but the way the author executes it just doesn't land because she's telling us instead of showing us. It feels like she's being obligated and annoyed, which is inconsistent with her being portrayed as selfless.
Ryker's character couldn't decide what he wanted to be, a strict dom or a daddy. Why did he constantly harp about her doing unsafe things when she wasn't (like spending time at her best friend's house)?!
Their whole relationship was based on sex. It created a disconnect between the characters and was seriously lacking in foundation.
Finally, there was absolutely no reason for her to move in with him—some guy spiked your drink, and suddenly your apartment isn't safe just because he knows where you live? Get real.
Opportunities were missed throughout this book, and frankly, I don't trust anyone who gave this book 4 or 5 stars.

✨️ 📚 BOOK 📖 REVIEW ✨️
Arabella and Ryker were the couple that you never expect to be together, but work so well! They had some of the best chemistry I have seen. And let's not forget to mention how they were on the same side even if one couldn't always see it.
I loved Arabella and felt like she deserved the WORLD for dealing with the absolute mess of a person that is her mother. She was quite literally the perfect example of the parent you always hope to never be in their vicinity, much less orbit. But unfortunately she was stuck with that sad human being. Bella had to put up with so much from her, and unfortunately struggled to see what was in front of her. It seems to happen like that until you have no option but to see it for what it is! My heart just felt so many things when it came to Bella. I felt for her because of how her mother was towards her. I have seen it time and time again, and it never gets easier the next time I see it. I wanted to fight so hard for her, but unfortunately that is a battle that she has to fight.
Bella had so much potential to be so much more than the path she was thrust down. If she would have been able to go to college, when she was supposed to I think that she would have had a different life. I couldn't have cheered more for her when she was finally able to get away from her mother and her controlling ways. If you didn't know the term for what her mother was its called a Narcissist.
Ryker, the forever hottie, was such a gem. I wasn't the most thrilled when he left Bella but that is something that he felt as if she needed to be able to work out for herself. He couldn't have been a better influence in Bella's life. I was cheering for them the WHOLE time! I loved that they had the connection and love for each other the way they did! I loved that he would take care of her when she needed it the most. Everyone needs someone who is able to be there for you, even when you don't want it. I'm not just talking about the financial aspect, but also the emotional one. Which I feel is the most important one! Without that we struggle as humans, we need that connection with someone to be able to anchor ourselves. I'm just glad that they had that for each other!
I loved how he loved her enough to leave her so that she could see she was worth so much more than her mom's words. Not everyone would be so caring to be patient much less teach her the ropes. I enjoyed seeing how they were obviously meant to be together.
I am sooo beyond excited to read the next book because I NEEEED TO KNOW what happens with the next characters and to get a glimpse of these two!

These two couldn't have been more perfect for each other! Their sexual chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS! I loved that he was patient with her when he was teaching her.

As a debut author Ellie Gates doesn’t disappoint. Arabella is a 23 year old waitress that gives her all to everyone around especially her mother. Ryker is an older man that owns Gravity, an exclusive bdsm club that he owns with his best friend Hayes. He doesn’t do relationships, he is a Dom but he isn’t looking for a sub. Until he sees Arabella in the club, did I mention, Ryker used to date her Mom. So this isn’t their first meeting.
I absolutely loved about this book. I love Ellie’s style of writing, it just felt so fresh. Arabella’s story was just so heart wrenching that I really cried at moments. Her insecurities about how she looked are ones that I still struggle with to this day so I really understood her on her body image issues. She is just so strong and loyal and Ryker is lucky!
And don’t get me started on Ryker aka Daddy Ryker. That man had me clenching my thighs, pearls, hands, blankets, anything and everything! That man just exuded strength, dominance, power, sweetness and love off the pages. He was just so swoony in some parts that I made an ugly swoony sound. I even forgive him for the emotional damage he inflicted on me!
In all seriousness, I loved this book, it was so emotional, sweet, spicy and OMG that intense scene at the club 😮💨. I highly recommend reading and listening to the playlist, it just enhances the experience! Thank you Ellie for this amazing work! I can’t WAIT for the next book!
I am convinced Ellie was a writer in another life because there’s no way this was her debut.
Ok but really, I know it was her debut because I remember her talking about writing a book, and then BAM SHE WROTE IT! I had the absolute pleasure of beta reading this and it was already so good at beta level! I had a blast diving back into the final draft! Daddy Ryker did not come to mess around!
Ryker briefly dated Arabella’s mother when she was 17. Six years later, Arabella is living a life outside of what her plans were, mostly due to her mother and the toxic relationship they share. When Arabella goes on a double date to Gravity, the k!nk club, she runs into none other that hot as sin Ryker, who happens to be part owner of the club. When Arabella requests Ryker teach her to be a submissive, it takes effort but he begrudgingly agrees, as long as they keep it non-smexual.
Jokes on him because their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS! Ryker quickly goes from Sir to Daddy. The spice in this was next level and the careful and delicate dom/sub storyline was perfect. Not only that, but the toxic relationship Arabella has with her mother and insecurities and the character growth she has throughout is beautiful!
We also got a preview of Axel’s story (Arabella’s older brother) and omfg, WHAT A PROLOGUE!
Congrats to Ellie on her debut! I am so excited to see Ellie sore in her writing career! Thank you for the early ARC copy!
ARC Review 4.5 ⭐️ Because of You is book 1 in the Defying Gravity series featuring Ryker Hart & Arabella Bradley.
Arabella’s mom Christine used to date Ryker when Arabella was seventeen, after seeing how Christine treated her, Ryker ended the relationship.
Six years later, Arabella goes on a double date and ends up at Gravity - The kink club that Ryker is part owner of. She happens to run into Ryker and he scolds her for having to much to drink to be there.
Arabella ends up going on another date with the guy from the club and when she starts to feel sick after her date tries to roofie her drink, she calls Ryker for help. Ryker takes her back to his apartment and keeps her safe.
Arabella asks Ryker to teach her how to be a sub, he reluctantly agrees but they agree there will be no sexual matters. But the more time that goes on the lines begin to blur. Will Arabella finally be able to break free from her mom’s grasp or will it be too little to late for her and Ryker?
Holy hotness, this book was very spicy and so so good! Ryker was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy and also gave the ultimate daddy vibes🥵.
Thank you Ellie for the ARC, I already can’t wait for the next book in this series, I already know it will be fantastic !

Ellie Gates came out with a bang in her debut! I could not put this book down and had to force myself to. It had been awhile since I connected so deeply with an FMC on so many levels. The weight struggles, the being told you’re not good enough and everything was so relatable. Bella is the type of character that you can see yourself in and it’s beautiful. I also cannot explain how much I loved Ryker and the way he shows Bella how perfect she is. The way he is soft and caring, yet dominant when needed was pure perfection. I hope everyone finds a Ryker that loves them this way. By the way, Ryker is the ex-boyfriend of Bella’s mom… don’t feel bad for the mom, she is the absolute worst!!
I already can’t wait for book two. With this book Ellie has now become an auto read author. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on reading this book. I’m already hoping an audio version comes out soon!
His broody, protective daddy vibes and silky, stern voice were straight up p*ssy nip.
“Baby, what I need. Is for you to continue playing with that pretty p*ssy of yours and make yourself f***ing come. I won’t tell you again.”
Then she called me Daddy. I know it was a heat of the moment thing, because I said it too, but f*** if I don’t want her to say it all the time. I’ll be her Daddy. I'll be whatever the fuck she wants.
Okay, Arabella and Ryker are freaking hot! This book had all my favorite tropes in it so I couldn’t pass up checking it out. And I am so glad I did! Ryker is the older, protective Daddy Dom that shows Arabella the ways to be a submissive. But he also shows her the beauty that she is. He does everything he can to erase the years of trauma and verbal abuse her mother ingrained into her. So yes, this book is f***ing hot, but past that, their story is beautiful.

✨Because of You✨ is Ellie Gates' debut novel, but you would never know it.
Ryker and Arabella (Bella) have chemistry and tension from the very beginning, but he's her mom's boyfriend. Fast forward 6 years, Ryker and her Mom have been over for a long time and when Arabella comes crashing into his life that tension and chemistry explode.
Ryker is half owner of a BD§M club. He literally runs into Bella who has had her interest piqued by what she sees. So when she asks him to teach her how to be a §ubmissive, he tries to say no, but doesn't trust anyone else to teach her. While together he teaches her so much more than the ways of BD$M, he teaches her how to love herself, how to be confident in her body. He helps her gain the strength to stand up to her degrading, verbally abusive mom. Along the way both their walls crumble piece by piece. Finding a future together they never thought they'd have. Daddy Ryker is all man. He's strong, dominant, protective, and so sweet. The way he cares for Bella had me swooning straight into a puddle on the floor. Bella is strong, smart, funny, and independent.....as long as she's nowhere near her mom. Her mom has crushed her confidence and self worth, making her soul-crushingly insecure. But Ryker comes along and only sees perfection and is determined to make Bella see it too. And he does.
While helping her embrace her sexuality he helps her rebuild her confidence and to realize that she is perfect just the way she is.
Now I'm not leaving out the best part, I promise. Daddy Dom Ryker had me clenching my thighs and breathing heavily. 🥵 He's dominant with Bella, but also tender and sweet. The spicy scenes had me sweating and are some of the best I've read. Ellie handles BD§M with great care and respect.
This story is heart breaking and angsty at times. But the banter between Bella and her best friend, and between Bella and Ryker had me in tears laughing. I mean "Cocktimus Prime" and the "grumpy Ryker Train" are two terms I will never forget! 😂
Because of You is spicy, sweet, and emotional and Ellie balances them all perfectly! The story touches on sensitive topics so please check the trigger warnings.

Arabella….where to start. She was a very tough MFC to get behind. I struggled to understand WHY she allowed her mom to treat her the way she did, for as long as she did. Yes we are supposed to respect our parents but when damage is being done, you no longer need to respect them, and start protecting and respecting yourself. We all have our breaking points and yet she refuses to get off the ground and stop being walked all over. Her internal banter was a broken record which got old after hearing it over and over. However, I really loved that Arabella was not some skinny, perfect body with long blonde naturally wavy perfect hair, ocean blue or grey eyes that you couldn’t look away from. She was easy for me to associate with on that level. I tire of every MFC being perfect in the world’s eye. So that was refreshing. Ryker….i really liked him in the beginning and how he refused to cross those lines, even though he was clearly interested in her. He was older than Arabella and I felt like he was a stand up guy. As the lines started to blur it was okay because they were two consenting adults. BUT that is where the story lost me. Once we started into the Dom/Sub relationship Ryker got too soft for me. Honestly he never really felt like a Dom. He was soft and always making excuses for Arabella. I wanted to be able to keep the roles separate. I wanted to see the Ryker we met in the beginning who stood his ground, and I would have loved to see the Dom Ryker keeping things focused and separate. When lines were finally drawn in the sand; I was so happy! Ryker was back and he was standing his ground. And finally Arabella found her footing and her worth. I was happy to see that she removed herself from that toxic relationship and finally started to value herself. The ending made me smile and I felt like it was a cute way to end the story. Now for this being the authors first book; I think she is going to be a great author. The age gap and Dom/Sub and all the spice that was in this book; perfection! This is the type of stories I enjoy reading! I can’t wait to read her next book!!
Arabella Bradley is not where she hoped she’d be in life. Her mother has always been hard on her, and growing up with that kind of parent it has really affected how she sees herself. Growing up her mother dated around a lot. Eventually, her mom dates someone named Ryker Hart, and he’s been the only one of her boyfriends to stand up for Arabella in front of her mother. After standing up for Arabella, Ryker breaks up with her mother and Arabella is blamed for breaking them up.
Until 6 years later, Arabella’s best friend Wrinley convinces her to go on a double date with her to a new kink club called Gravity. Arabella needed some liquid courage before she showed up, so after a few shots while getting ready, Arabella is feeling a little bit looser. Gravity has a strict rule of needing to be of sound mind, so there is a 2 drink rule in place for any patron. Arabella finishes her two drinks with her best friend and their dates and they start exploring the back of the club. She turns one way while the others turn a different way, and she runs right into Ryker. Ryker is of course shocked to see his ex-girlfriend's daughter at his kink club, but she clearly needs help and he takes her home to sober up at his house.
Arabella is very interested in Ryker’s kink lifestyle, but Ryker is hesitatnt to let her into his world. After some solid agreements between the two, he’s willing to teach, and she’s willing to learn. As time goes on, lines get crossed, and things start to heat up between the two.
Ellie’s debut novel sucks you in from the start, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series.

This was such a great debut novel! I am so surprised this is her first ever book because it is so well written! The plot kept me hooked, the spice was so hot, and all of the characters were amazing. The book follows Arabella and Ryker, who’s 21 years her senior…and her mom’s ex boyfriend. Ryker dated Arabella’s mom when she was 16 for about 6 months and they don’t see each other again until 6 years later when she stumbles into his club. They have immediate tension and chemistry but they both fight it because of their history. Ryker tries to deny his attraction to Arabella but he quickly gives in and they enter a dom/sub relationship.
Though the book has a ton of spice and is centered around their relationship, it also has major focus on Arabella gaining confidence and a grasp on her own self worth. Arabella had a rough childhood with her mom consistently bringing her down and commenting on her weight. Throughout her relationship with Ryker she gains confidence in her body and in her own personal boundaries she has to set with her crazy mother. I loved seeing the personal growth for her and the support Ryker gave her.
I also loved all of the side characters. Each person has some great moments and it made me want all of their stories as well. I love how they were written and they were definitely set up well to add on books with their stories. At the end of the book you get a sneak peek into the next and let me just say I’m so excited to see what comes out!!
Thank you to Ellie Gates for the ARC of this book 🫶
This book was recommended in a chat group. I don't know who it was specifically, but it was recommended because of the daddy k!nk. I checked it and it has more than "just" that, so I instantly put it on my TBR for my KU time. As I'm writing this review and you are reading it, I've now read it 😁 And I want to say "Thank you for this recommendation 🩷". I absolutely loved the book. Yes, I love all this k!nky stuff, and it's very well written 🫶 It's not just all about the 🌽, the book still has a very good plot as well. I can feel how Arabella felt. Oh, I feel it so much 😫 I have a toxic mother myself. Of course, it's never their fault but always ours. They always do everything for us and we do nothing... 🤬 Oh, and yes, me being a plus-size girl was also a huge problem for my mother. And she gave me an eating disorder with everything she said and did 🤬 It's definitely not easy to get free of toxic people in your life, but when you find a person who loves you and you love them, it gets easier 🩷 I found mine as Arabella found hers 😁 OK, mine is not as k!nky as Ryker, but he loves me unconditionally. Ryker is really super special. And btw opening a k!nky club in an old church, just perfect. If not there, where then? 😎
I know book 2 is coming very soon, and I'm super excited about it. It's no secret, the second book is about Axel & Wrinley (Arabella's brother & her best friend). I hope there will be a third book about Hayes (Ryker's best friend/business partner). Please 🙏🤞
Forbidden & oh so steamy! 5⭐️, 4🌶️ Can’t go wrong with a forbidden romance & we get a juicy two-for with this book as it has an age gap PLUS mother’s ex-boyfriend trope. The fact the older MMC Ryker, co-owns a kink club & is a very picky dom, adds a whole lot of extra to the spice when paired with a younger FMC Arabella who is an inexperienced yet natural sub that wants to learn & NEEDS to please- whew!🥵 Hot really is an understatement when it comes to all that delicious, slightly taboo spice! What I liked most about the book though is that it is very well balanced. As much as spice plays a big role in the book, plot/angst/relationship building/character development, are all explored fairly equally. The insight into what may cause Arabella to be drawn to submissive behavior & how a dom can help her grow as a person, is really written quite well. I do have to say I was surprised the kink club, while a main location for many scenes, wasn’t the main focal point of the book. At least not in the way you would expect. The spice is very much focused solely on the MCs with very little involvement with/from other members at the club, albeit directly, indirectly, or even in the background. Definitely went in a different direction than most books that have some kind of kink club in the storyline & I have to say, it is a nice change of pace. The spice felt more intimate & personal while still having that extra edge a kink club brings to the scenes/overall dynamic. Highly recommend this book & really looking forward to the next book in the series!
📚 All my reviews are made voluntarily & are my honest thoughts/opinions.📚
Whew! What a debut for Ellie Gates! I was not expecting the emotional toll that this book was going to take on me or the bouts of rage I was going to feel on Arabella's behalf, but here we are. I identified with Arabella so much for the things that people had told her about herself and I just could not stand her mother at all and I spent every page of this book waiting for the moment that she finally took control and stood up for herself and eliminated that toxic relationship from her life. As she struggled though, I absolutely loved the way that Ryker stepped in and not only told her, but showed her that she was worthy of everything she ever wanted. Watching Arabella bloom from her insecurities to a woman who knows her worth was really beautiful and I loved that so much for her.
Arabella's introduction to BDSM and the kink club, Gravity really helped her to utilize the power exchange that she needed to alleviate and overcome her traumatic childhood and Daddy Ryker brought all the heat. I loved how he showed her how to get out of her head and how to retrain herself to know how perfect she was and he did it in the most deliciously dirty ways that really had these pages heating up. Or maybe that was the friction of how fast I was turning pages to find out what was going to happen! Either way it was a beautiful transformation for both of them and I was ecstatic over their HEA and how they both got everything they wanted and needed in each other.
Because of You by Ellie Gates was absolutely freaking amazing! I loved it from start to finish. The characters completely stole my heart—especially Bella and Ryker.
Arabella is a 23-year-old waitress who’s sweet, strong, and constantly giving to everyone around her. Her relationship with her toxic mother hit me hard, as it echoed a lot of my own experiences (though not quite as extreme). The way Ellie Gates wrote those scenes was raw, real, and incredibly moving—I felt every single word.
And then there’s Ryker—aka Daddy Ryker—one hot-as-sin MMC! He's the co-owner of a kink club (yes, please) and reconnects with Bella there, years after he dated her mother (yep, drama alert!). Ryker sees Bella's worth, reminds her how beautiful and powerful she is, and is everything I love in a dominant love interest—protective, swoony, and totally in control. I was obsessed.
But what truly made this book stand out for me was Bella’s growth. Watching her step into her power and finally spread her wings was like witnessing a butterfly take flight. It was emotional, empowering, and beautifully written.
The pacing? Perfect. The spice? Off the charts. Like... this book should come with a fan. I cried, laughed, swooned, and definitely got hot and bothered—this book had everything.
Highly recommend to anyone who loves emotional healing, steamy romance, and a heroine you’ll root for from page one.
For this being a debut novel, I am THOROUGHLY impressed. The plot flowed well, the character development was great from beginning to end, and I was never bored. There’s more smut at points, but that has NEVER bothered me before. The spice was very well written and the chemistry between these two was HOT. When the “f*** it” moment finally happens, UGH, AMAZING 🔥🔥
I truly loved Arabella’s character growth from beginning to end. Coming from someone with a slightly similar experience, I felt they I could really relate to her and all that she felt encompassing her reasonings and decision. She has come so far by the end of the book and I am so proud of her!
My only notes would be about the ending, I felt there were too many jumps in time. It made sense with the plot for the most part, but I wished we had gotten a little bit more insight into the those moments before the book wrapped up!
I am soooo looking forward to book 2!

Arabella is great, I love her name. She is curvy but likes it. Although she struggles with loving herself. She gives back sass more so in the beginning and middle it was amazing. Overall their bond was everything thing. The trust that built up overtime. Him trying to show her, her beauty through his eyes. Anabella is inquisitive, she wants to learn what he like while also learn more about what she. Him caring for her while they shower was I would say unique because I haven’t read that happen.
I am excited for who’s next. When I saw who it was I kicked my feet like a kid. I can tell their book is going to be good. And the secret he is hiding, I am excited. What I can’t wait for is the build up for both of those main characters, I can tell it’s going to be spicy.

I fully forgot reading this that it was a debut novel! This was such a great book!! I loved getting to watch Arabella learn more about all of the pieces of herself and really be open to accepting those pieces that some people would be scared of, especially given the background she came from. Watching the relationship she had with her mom play out and then getting to see her grow and bloom into not only accepting what the relationship truly was, but also growing from it into her true self! And Ryker was everything you could want in a book Daddy!! Seeing him watch out for Bella and keeping her best interest at heart, so effortlessly, was really well written and so swoony!! He kept pushing to find the truth for her and helped her confront it in such a healthy way, it was so great to see! Overall, I liked the pacing of the story and how the story unraveled, with the bread crumbs that we got along the way! I loved the side characters, and I'm really hoping to see more of Axel and Wrinley in the next book!! 4 stars; 4 chili peppers

I enjoyed my first read from Ellie Gates and I am looking forward to Book #2 that is set to release in the fall.
This stories follows a 23 year old, curvy FMC who has been manipulated and emotionally (mostly) abused by her scamming-toxic mother. The MMC, the mother’s ex is 21 years the FMC’s senior. The MMC owns a high society dark club where questionable acts are enjoyed. The MMC sets out to ensure that the FMC sees her true worth and says a bit “F U” to her terrible mother. Long story short – this was a pretty good read, with lots of spice, tension, and a pretty good set up for the next story in this series. You’ll enjoy this book if you like taboo and a Daddy dynamic from a couple where the MMC actually could have been the FMC’s daddy before college.
What to expect: Moms ex-boyfriend Age gap (21 years) Kink Club Owner Curvy FMC Daddy Dom Submissive
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy (be it extremely late) of Because of You, and I am providing my honest review. Thank you, Ellie Gates, for the opportunity.
Arabella seriously broke my heart in this book. All I have to say is her mom seriously sucks so much! But Ryker has all the daddy energy to help her pick up the pieces and have her pick up her own as well.
This book was fun, emotional and all the club stuff was amazing. I usually don’t read k!ink club books but I thought, why not with with this one and am happy I did.
This book show the many facets of Dom/sub lifestyle and how it can be freeing for those who need to have control taken away and those who need control.
This book also shows how we all need to have self love, that it doesn’t have to be everyday all the time but we need to make sure we love the body that we have and be able to look in the mirror.
Daddy Ryker was seriously chefs kiss. This man’s dirty mouth could literally make anyone do anything. And sweet Arabella, the hand that she was dealt and trying to figure her life out. She was also so sassy in the beginning, I loved it!
“Baby, it’s about being better. I only want you to be you, because you are worthy and you are enough.”
Ellie Gates came in guns blazing with her debut novel! Ryker Hart stole not only Bella’s heart, but mine as well.
Arabella met Ryker six years ago when he was her mother’s boyfriend. Ryker ended things when he had to step in to help Arabella. She and her mother have a complicated relationship. Bella ends up running into Ryker at the kink club he owns, while she’s on a date. Arabella ends up getting into some dangerous situations that Ryker ends up saving her from. This close proximity brings them closer together. Attractions start to spark something new. She finds out he’s a dominant and that peaks her interest. She asks him to “Teach Her” how to be a submissive. HIS submissive. He draws some lines, which quickly disappear. The more of her light shined upon him, the more he was drawn to her. He wants to keep her, but something keeps standing in the way. How can they remove that wedge?
This story pulled on your heartstrings as well as had you wiggling in your seats. WHEW! This book is HOT! But it wasn’t just about all the spicy lessons. It was about gaining confidence and loving yourself. Ryker did all of that and helped her be able to also do it on her own. I loved watching Bella’s character growth. Ellie did a wonderful job at bringing out the emotional aspects of this story as well as the banter. I’m super pumped for the next book in this series.
This debut novel was an absolute hit in my opinion! Holy hotness 🔥 the tropes drew me in and the story kept me needing more. I will be (not so) patiently waiting for the next book in this series!

❗️There are a few triggering topics in this book, so check out the authors note before diving in. Your mental health matters ❗️
I know I said it before, but dang this book was hot! The chemistry between our MC’s was so explosive from the start (well, after the prologue 😂). And I loved the banter between Ryker and Arabella. I was giggling quite a bit and I definitely enjoy a book that makes me lol.
The journey to self love Arabella goes through really warmed my heart. As a more than curvy girl, I find more confidence in myself reading stories like this one. She goes through a lot to find her HEA, but it’s all worth it in the end 🩵.
If any of those tropes up there catch your eye, definitely check out this debut novel, Because Of You. So, so good!
This book was taboo romance at its finest. We have Arabella who is, let’s just say, emotionally damaged by her narcissistic mother and Ryker who is her mother’s ex boyfriend.
Fast forward six years and Ryker now owns a sex club where Arabella’s date happens to take her. Ryker saves her from not one but two very dangerous situations which result in her staying with him for an extended period of time. After she discovers that he is a dominant in all meanings of the word, she asks him to train her as a submissive.
Initially due to their age difference and his status as her mother’s ex, he reluctantly agrees to train her but there is a line drawn where no sex is involved. How long do you think that lasts??
Once they both accept their feelings for each other, we discover just how dirty Ryker’s mouth is. And let me tell you, it is so good.
While I wouldn’t necessarily call this book dark, I would recommend that you check trigger warnings before diving in. If you are like me and have no triggers….they dive on in. The water is just fine!

Ryder is the MMC who owns half of Gravity. Him in general though he is perfect. The way he cares for Arabella the FMC. He is always there for here and knows what she needs based on face or body language.
Arabella is great, is love her name. Anyways, she is a curvy fmc who prefers showing that she doesn't mind it. Something you see is her struggling of self love. She gives sass as well as she takes it, more so in the beginning but it's great.
Their bond was everything. The trust that they ended up building. Him trying to show her, her beauty through his eyes 🩵. Arabella is inquisitive, she wants to learn what he likes while also learning more about herself.
I'm excited for the next book and can't wait to follow Ellie throughout her journey.
ELLIEEEEEEE!!! WHAT THE F*CK DID YOU PUT INTO THIS DEBUT?!
Listen, I haven’t absolutely devoured a book in a hot minute but this one…HOLY FREAKING MOLY!! I loved it from start to finish! The angst, taboo, SPICE, and a crap load of other things.
This story follows Arabella and Ryker!
Their story is so heart throbbing, angsty, and healing.
Arabella is such a strong people pleaser. She is the type of person that puts all of her emotions in the back line. She wants to make everyone around her happy. She hates disappointing people.
That’s until she decides to ask Ryker to become his Little Submissive 😉
Ryker, Hot Daddy Ryker, holy moly with a side of hot sauce! Ryker is truly gold. He owns half of the BDSM club that he shares with him best friend. He has such a protective side with Arabella, you’ll see it throughout the whole story. He is like her safe haven.
