Wendy H. Jones lives in Scotland, and her police procedural series featuring Detective Inspector Shona McKenzie, is set in the beautiful city of Dundee, Scotland. Wendy has led a varied and adventurous life. Her love for adventure led to her joining the Royal Navy to undertake nurse training. After six years in the Navy she joined the Army where she served as an Officer for a further 17 years. This took her all over the world including Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Much of her spare time is now spent travelling around the UK, and lands much further afield. As well as nursing Wendy also worked for many years in Academia. I'm firmly in camp Grinch when it comes to all things festive. This is the only book related to this season I agreed to read and that's partly because it's short stories.
You can dip in and out and the stories are a great distraction. Especially as there's still a bit of spilled blood along the way.
The stories travel the world which is quite something and are all so different. While being strongly camped in cozy, so you can just sit back and enjoy.
Each author writes with such quality I would gladly go and seek out full length books by all of them.

I loved this collection of short stories. I could dip in and out as time permitted. The stories were interesting, and there was quite a collection of characters involved. Past and present timelines and a range of locations made for a fun read in the lead-up to the festive season.

Oh, and at the end? A recipe!

If you like Christmas and cozy crime then this collection is for you. I am not sure the short story format is an easy fit for tales that need to fit in the commission of a crime, a range of suspects and an investigation but the diverse authors contributing to this collection do an admirable job. Amateur sleuths set to work in Scotland, Canada, Italy, England and Nigeria - all with a Christmas backdrop of course!
I gather there will be more books in this series, under the banner - A Right Cozy Crime, so look out for them if this is your cup of tea.

Here is my review for A Right Cozy Christmas Crime by Wendy H Jones and others

I truly enjoyed reading these mesmerising cozy crime stories all set around the Christmas theme and December. There was a lot of sleuthing going on, sleuths helping the police and an interesting tale of a missing brooch. They were all new characters and new places so that made it all the more interesting for me. The stories were about the right length of time to be read to be called short ones. There were some dead bodies to be had so I was happy! This book could easily be read in a day or peruse at leisure whichever you prefer. It’s a great chance to get to know some new authors especially if you are into cozy crime mysteries. A very enjoyable read.

I’ve never reviewed a Christmas book before. I also haven’t read many. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and The Tailor of Gloucester by Beatrice Potter come to mind. But still I worried there might be things I didn’t understand.

I needn’t have worried. The stories were mostly about the run-up to Christmas, about getting the crime wrapped up and put away before the festivities were due to begin.

The book contains plenty of variety in various aspects: location, timeline, characters and plot. I enjoyed all the stories, some more than others.
