Sage Jones is an adrenaline junky. The rush keeps her heart hollow and allows her that slight sensation of feeling an emotion. She’s blocked off everyone, yet pretends to be just one of the girls. Until four sexy, hot men penetrate her heart, make her feel things that scare her, arouse her, and show her that not all men cause pain. She’s one tough woman, well trained by her family members, and it comes in handy one night when someone tries to abduct her.
Virgo, Dale, Quaid, and Matt London break down her defenses and show her that by their side is right where she belongs. But they're not the only ones interested in Sage, and it’s too late when they realize the one they are hunting was amongst them, and someone they trusted in the town of Pearl.
Can the men get to her in time, or will Sage end up losing the battle once and for all?
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
Sage Jones has always been a fighter, but there is a flint of the past that keeps Sage from acting out in a way that fuels that fear she felt long ago. If it is dangerous, Sage is always game but she often feels she is betraying her adoptive family who know nothing of her adrenaline junkie stunts.
Quaid and Matt London have had their eye on Sage for awhile, now that their cousins Dale and Virgo have moved to town and their interest is equally sparked, they plan to woo Sage. However Sage doesn't seem to interested in a relationship, but the London's plan to break through those walls she has erected and show her they can be trusted. When Sage is hurt, the men close ranks and intend to keep her safe, handling her with care along the way.
There is a whole other part of the story that deals with women being abducted and Sage is a victim in the making. I really liked Virgo, with Matt a close second. Virgo is one of those silent but deadly types, but I think there is an attachment that only Sage and Virgo can relate to with one another. Another excellent chapter in the Pearl series.
Dare-devil Sage is finally tamed... while she succumbed almost too easily, her men are still hot and down right dominant.
**biggest complaint: while the use of "C*nt" has been sparsely used in previous books, this book is riddled with the word. Sexy times in this book was constantly cut short for me.**
I have read books by Dixie Lynn Dywer predating her Pearl stories, and while they were good, they seemed...a little rough, I would say. Regardless which of her stories that you read, she is a talented writer, though she is getting much better with each book. The character dynamics are very much improved. In her earlier Pearl books, she relies on trauma and adversity to create a character, but in Sage's Story, she created an actual character who is more fleshed out. Some of story plots from her earlier books seemed a bit...derivative, and I was afraid that would be the case here, but I really enjoyed Sage. I wish more would have been explored with the daredevil elements with Sage, but I think I just enjoyed that as a character flaw. Rather unique to a heroine, I think. I kind of wish there was one less guy in the relationship. I am sorry, but I kept forgetting about Dale. This is more on me, than a valid criticism, though. I struggle with the concept of a relationship with more than 3 guys (3 is pushing it, even). So, do I recommend this book? If you have not read menage before? Yes. It is not a genre I seek, do not care for in general, but will try reading most anything, and I enjoyed this. Bare bones here: Dixie Lynn Dwyer is a good writer, and she tells a story in each of her books of a heroine fleeing a trauma, being stalked, and then a physical confrontation. A touch formulaic, but with variations, especially in this book. I bought this version (libraries don't really cater to the naughty minds unless you want a simpering heroine, yes over generalization and bitter)and it was worth every cent. I will keep reading her, as long as her prices stay reasonable to the length of her stories. (Off topic, but do you get that angry feeling when you buy a book for the nook, barnes and noble doesn't tell you the page count, and you just spend 5 dollars for short story; that infuriates me. Don't do it DLDwyer--and that is my rant for the day, I hope.)
I adored Sage in the fifth installment of the Town of Pearl series by Dixie Lynn Dwyer. Sage has weathered a past that makes it difficult for her to trust, even those that loved and raised her as their own. She takes risks just so that she can feel something. Ms. Dwyer does an excellent job of allowing the reader to feel and understand Sage’s sorrow. I also found myself reading Sage’s Story and fearing that she would risk too much and push too far even as I knew it was unlikely since it was her story. But that was the power of Ms. Lynn’s words, I was invested in Sage almost from the beginning. I was thankful that she allowed Virgo, Dale, Quaid, and Matt to crack her thorny exterior. You knew she needed someone or in this case several someones to give her the feeling of safety she needed. And each man provided something different which satisfied the scared little girl residing in the grown woman that is Sage. I loved that Ms. Dwyer gave her men who were older and had the patience necessary to see past Sage’s prickly exterior. While this story was deeply emotional, Ms. Dwyer balanced it well with a bit of action. I loved seeing just how supportive this community was. When one of its own is in danger, the Town of Pearl is ready, willing and able to protect. While it isn’t necessary to have read prior stories in this series seeing how happy characters we have met in the past are is more rewarding having the previous knowledge. This story is well worth the wait and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Dwyer in the future.
I half expected book 5 of The Town Of Pearl series to start out just like the past books, boy, was I surprised that it did not. Instead it actually started out in Pearl and only got as far a Dallas and Corpus Cristi. Dixie also took the time to age the characters four or five years and add some children to her characters from previous books. And Sage was first introduced in book 3 as a sixteen/seventeen year old escapee of an orphanage in Detroit and she is now twenty-two. Another difference is that Sage isn't running from anything but she is very bottled up, poor thing. Maintaining the flow of the world that is the Town of Pearl through such a long series must take a lot of work as you write and I commend Dixie for her consistency and attention to detail which makes this series so readable.
Also, like the rest of the series addresses a serious issue that women, children and sometimes men face. In this book the issue...
HOLY MOTHER OF BOOK LOVERS! I absolutely loved this book. The story line was amazing. It wasn't just about the menage sex even though that was freakin amazing! There was a great plot. The suspense was so intense and the adrenaline flowed like water. I loved every minute of it. Sage was meant to be with Matt, Quaid, Virgo, and Dale. These four men are off the charts bad ass alpha men on the outside but in the bedroom they're protective, attentive, extremely caring, rock hard sex machines. Lol. Prepare to have your panties set on fire. Lol. I don't think I know a single woman who would not love, love, love to be in Sage's place. I love Sage's character and her dare devil ways, she's full of piss and vinegar and can kick ass and take names. She's tough as nails, beautiful, smart, and independent, sweet, kind and caring. I'd love to read more about Sage and her men and their lives together. I extremely recommend this book to everyone.
A great new addition to the town of Pearl. Sage is my kind of girl. Not afraid to back down from a challenge and such a dare-devil I just loved that about her. She needs a strong man to take care of her. Thank goodness she gets four very strong, very big men who will stop at nothing to protect and love her! Virgo, Quaid, Dale, and Matt I have one word to describe them Yummy. If you loved this series before I think you are going to fall more in love with this great story of Sage and her men!
I loved this story. I loved this character. The female lead was my type of chick. I loved reading about her. She has a backbone of steel. Her story was remarkable. I also loved the four hot sexy men. What more could a girl want? Well let's say this story had hot sex. High action and suspense. What kept me from giving it five stars was that I picked up on some editing issues. Otherwise it would have been five and a highly recommend.
I really got into the characters. The story kept me on edge. Plenty of suspense and red hot sex. I am reading the entire series. Anyone that likes a good story with a HEA.
I really liked Sage's story; however, I only gave it 4 stars because the plot/intrigue was over similar to another of Ms. Dwyer's books. Still it was excellent reading and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sage is a tough cookie who doesn't back down to anyone and when she is almost abducted, she gets the help of four alpha men backing her. Will their relationship lead them along the road to happiness. This heartfelt story had me glued to the pages.
I loved this story! It's something about having 4 fine men all to yourself. Yummy. I didn't realize I was starting in the middle of a series! I can't wait to go back to start at the begin!
